[Q] Odin not working (there is no PIT partition) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I tried flashing a Modem (MH5) in Mobile Odin, but it hanged at
----- Modem #2 -----
- Clearing ...
for 20 minutes. I turned the phone off and wanted to try again, but the phone doesn't finish booting. It boots for a minute and I can see the boot animation of my rom, but then it reboots on its own.
Then I wanted to flash the modem with the normal Odin but that also doesn't work.
This is what it says:

<ID:0/008> Odin v.3 engine (ID:8)..
<ID:0/008> File analysis..
<ID:0/008> SetupConnection..

<ID:0/008> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/008> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I still get into the recovery, but there are no flashable modems for the i9505.
What do I do now?

Okay, I found a PIT file from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
Flashing it worked fine.
After that I tried to flash the modem again, but it failed. This time with a different error:

port 3 and port 8???
what is happening? change usb port and disable kies and antivirus from task manager, reset odin. repeat procedure
Do you have any device connected to your pc other than your android? If Odin recognized more than 1 com, probably there are other device connected via USB or kies is interfering with odin.

I had the same problem. I tried different USB port and newer version of odin and that did the job.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using xda app-developers app

It had nothing to do with the USB Port.
After flashing the PIT file failed the phone displayed the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue . Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
Then I downloaded a stock Rom and flashed it in combination with the PIT File on the same USB port as before and it succeeded. After that I flashed TWRP again and I could restore my backup. It was a long process, but my phone is working fine again.
After restoring my backup I could also flash the new modem and now I have better reception.

Got the same situation (Odin flashing failure, PIT error, ended up with the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again") trying to flash a new modem.
When I change the cable AND usb port, everything goes OK. Run Odin (the same 3.07), connect my i9505 with the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" and just flash the modem again, it works now.

Mine was a USB issue. Tried rebooting my laptop, phone, changed usb port, then finally changed USB cable and it worked ok.
Flashed PIT file with firmware.

SOLVED!
SOLVED changing usb cable and port. used the original cable with another usb port and it worked fine.

[Odin] Pit re-partition takes no effect

Hi
I tried to re-partition my Samsung S3 mini with a custom pit file with Odin v3.07. This is Odin output, looks ok:
<ID:0/003> Added!!

I'd like to remove the recovery partition and resize following system partition instead. The download menu on the device prints a red warning "Custom pit file", which I ignore.
After rebooting the device, I can't see any change, the recovery image still boots and the red flag in the download mode disappeared.
Why does it not work, I tried already different checkbox combinations on Odin.
Regards
Edit:
The problem was, that I tried to repartition the device without flashing the images. Instead of Odin, Heimdall throws an error.

[Q] CF Auto-Root Failures

I am trying to use CF Auto-Root for my GS-4 i9500. I power up my phone in "download mode" but as soon as i do it already says 'Downloading... Do not turn on target!!'. I waited for a while (watched a tv show so probably 40-45 min) and nothing changed. The upper left says; Odin mode, ..., Write Protection: Enabled, eMMC BURST MODE enabled. I turn it off and back on in download mode (still says 'Downloading...'), load up the binary, connect the phone to my comp (odin says 'Added!!' and recognizes the COM port it is connected to), and click start. About half the time i get:
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<ID:0/004> Odin v.3 engine (ID:4)..
<ID:0/004> File analysis..
<ID:0/004> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/004> Initialzation..
<ID:0/004> Removed!!
<ID:0/004> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/004> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I have tried 4 different USB ports and 3 different cables. I can simply click restart in odin and try again when i get this error
The other half i get:
<ID:0/005> Added!!
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..

<ID:0/005> recovery.img
<ID:0/005> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth)
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
in the upper left on my phone I get, in red; start [224, 1440], secure magicode check fail : recovery. This requires me to reboot the phone for another attempt. I have clicked the PIT button in odin and there are no files there.
I have found some similar threads for the first failure but they all seem to require re-partitioning and re-make (?) the PIT file which is apparently "extremely risky". As for the second failure, I found several threads with a similar failure but they were regarding going back to stock and seemed to be caused by a bad recovery image?? On the up side my phone will still boot into factory software just fine, but I would really like to figure out what I'm f-ing up.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help
If I were you, I would look for a custom recovery and flash this. I use Philz Touch Recovery, you can root it from it and it works perfect.

flash it in Odin using AP.

[Help Needed] Soft-Bricked my phone. i9505

So, my phone was giving me problems, too much battery consumption, the keyboard would sometimes lag and i would get weird words and phrases... so i though, well, i have an android! why not making the most of it and trying a custom rom? Geez, i tried installing first CWM since i had no recovery mode besides the stock one, and i bricked the phone. How? dunno, i tried twice in two different computers and all the times i would get an error, Odin would start writing.... and stop, then the phone disconects and connects back (windows makes that sound) and now it seems that i broke the partition tables. I found a .pit file for my phone ("CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2"), and i have the stock rom ("I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_I9505XXUFNB9_HOME.tar") (im downloading also one from sammobile just in case). But.. nope, odin doesn´t want to work, i just get the following

So, since ive tried in different USB ports, and different computers, and im getting the same resoult, i guess that my problem lies with the usb cable, ill try to get one tomorrow (its 2.08 here in sweden) but im posting in case there are other solutions. Btw, ive also tried Heimdall Suite (it was already bricked so... why not) and i get another error. Like if the computer couldnt communicate with the phone. YES i do have installed the drivers. Yes ive also use zadig to change/install the drivers with no solution.
Thanks for your help. *insert banana here as sign of my gratitude*
Yes, i wont mess with my phone again, ever.
Additional info: Galaxy s4 i9505 "north countries/baltic/north" edition (from sweden, tele3)
You probably just a need an other usb cable. Don't worry, you will get your phone up and running again.

[GT-I9515] Smartphone Pit Partition Fail

Good day.
Yesterday I made some crap with my phone . Now I need a "low level " firmware for my GT - I9515
The PIT file is totally destroyed . In the recovery mode, I 'm no longer pure . The device has no system . Only the download mode works .
Maybe someone can help me . Otherwise, I have a 200 € paperweight .
The Engschlische language sponsored by Google . : D
Okay , I have recorded a progress . The Pit file could be installed . Look here:

I tried a pit file called JFVELTE_EUR_OPEN.pit
and changed to (direct) usb port and then it worked. (found this link)

Odin troubleshooting: If Odin accidentally gives you "fail" try the following:
- Repeat procedure.
- Make sure that all actions of Kies are disabled from task manager.
- Change usb port.
- Try another usb cable (make sure it is the original).
- Try another Odin version.
- Uninstall and re-install driver.
- Use pit file.
- Try another computer.
Odin is failing when it tries to flash aboot.mbn because the bootloader on the phone is newer than the bootloader in the rom you are trying to flash.

sm-g935f (no pit partition) please helpppppp!!!!!!!

hi I messed up too I went to install a new rom but I had to flash a new twrp recovery and I flashed the wrong one and I cant boot in to recovery no more and then I tried to put the right twrp recovery back on there and it gave me a odin error {no pit partition} so I downloaded the sm-g935f pit file and tried to use the pit tab and got a new odin error {Complete(Write) operation failed} iv tried different usb ports 2.0 and 3.0 and tried different cables I need help someone please save me phone
Hi,
download a stock firmware from updato. In Odin select all of the files. For CSC file use the normal CSC file (not HOME_CSC).
In addition, select re-partition and flash.
Odin gets the PIT information from the CSC file.

Have you downloaded the correct firmware from updato.com? If you have g935f you need a 'f' version of the firmware.
Sorry, I have no further idea.
flash again and use your country home CSC i did that and works like a charm
I have downloaded the g935f and the uk csc BTU and still not working
Maybe you try a different usb cable and flash on another pc?
ive tried everything the phone has put itself in read only mode I need to know how to do a boot trap install or something if anyone know how to do that
Have you tried with re partition and NAND erase all ticked in odin? If not, try it. And please use latest version of odin. 3.11 or above.
ya ive tried everything I can think of it just cant get pass the pit file check an then my phone restart to the galaxy s7 edge screen an says on that I flashed twrp-3.0.2-0-hero2qltechn.img and it was that, that messed my phone up coz it was the wrong one I was ment to flash twrp-3.0.2-4-hero2lte.img and then I went to flash the the right one it said the I didn't have a pit partition so I tried the latest firmware for my phone (UK EVR an the pit files) I also used just the csc files but everything ive tried has gave me the above errors ive ready messed up this time
You can download the .pit file for your device: HERE
thank you joku1981 but I already have one but ill try this one
