Please help me get the girl. - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Okay, long story short, I've been having a nightmare with my phone. So I did this, and then installed gingerbread, and the excellent CM7.2 mod.
BUT, because of the AT&T froyo backup file I installed using Roadkil disk image, my phone is now locked to AT&T.
If I can't unlock the phone, or find a different (unlocked) froyo backup file, I can't get in touch with this awesome girl I've got a date with tomorrow.
Please help me get my phone working again, so that I can go on this date!

Try installing official GB(if you have the u8800pro) and then any custom ROM you want(looks like you have the pro and used the -51 method). And for Christ's sake please post questions to Q&A forum -.-'
@diestarbucks request to move these 2 threads to Q&A

I answered to you on your other thread.
Only a user of -51 can help you.
But as i read, you have AT&T and i really don't know how to fix your problem.

You can unlock the phone with the u8800-51 upgrade to gb tutorial.

So, the phone is fixed (kinda). I used the official gingerbread and that unlocked it. It's still got an AT&T logo when it boots, and it's definitely a U8800 pro. But, it works fine with cm7.2, so it's all good.
And the date went extremely well, so thanks for that.

sprint 4g image needed!

I just installed the latest cm nightly on my new ns4g unfortunately it doesn't support cdma radios yet, like an uber noob I was so excited to flash cm I forgot to backup first. I need a stock image to get my phone working again.
/facepalm
I thought 2.3.4 had cdma and 4g built in. Have you tried one of those roms?
Try a rom built from source of 2.3.4. Cm just barely started to merge 2.3.4 in.
Or the problem is he doesn't have the correct kernel from what I understand.

The 2.3.4 kernel has wimax code in it. Whether that extends to full rom support I'm not sure.

no it wont. and netarchy did alot to help me getting a kernel. it looks like i messed up flashing the radio... doh. now i need to figure out how to get the correct radio back on. i knew i should have waited before i jumped right on rooting this thing.
It will be on here soon. Don't worry. Just a pain in the buttto wait for a day or two!

im sorry but i dont feel one shred of pity for you. if your willing to take the plunge on testing things out before the phone comes out, then you should have at least made a backup of the stock files.. if you didnt know how to then you coulda asked.. or hell at the very least after flashing CWM made a nandroid

Actually a nandroid wouldn't have helped him, because his problem is that a rom he flashed was bundled with a gsm radio image. It's the cdma radio image he needs.
I'm not asking for you to feel bad or pity me. I messed up i'll take all the blame. yes i should have backed up to start off i knew i should have i was just too excided. i was a 8 year old on christmas morning with my new toy
I know there are people out there that can help me and i'm hoping by asking i can get that help. you can't blame me for that, if i dont ask i'm stuck here for days without a working phone. if i ask there's a chance i can get my phone working in a matter of hours, if the right person hears me.
no i agree there are people. what rom would bundle a gsm radio?
anyways if some one is willing to help all they need to do is just root, and dd the modem partition, they can upload it and then you can flash it. worst case im in EST and my sprint store opens at 10 am.. ill be making a total system dump when i get home. if you still need it by then you can download it.

T-Mobile Uk Roms

Hi all, just got an upgrade this week to the Atrix and thoroughly enjoying it so far. As a poweruser with the HD2 and all the hacks involved like android on nand etc, the first thing I did out of the box was root it.
Now to my point, all the custom roms I'm seeing seem to be for At+t and Bell (is that the right carriers?), and the forum is Atrix 4G. So can I as a UK user use these same roms/radios that are outlined in the development forum?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.
Greetings. I have the same backround as you . I nearly stayed with my hd2 but i'm glad I didn't. The only gingerbread rom for us is the orange one in the dev forum. I have had no success flashing this yet. Soft bricked 3 times and counting.
There is an international fruit cake in the works rich we will be able to flash from CWM.
So far rooting is fine.
Unlockingbootloader is fine.
flashing Cwm if fine.
I keep meaning to start a t-mob uk thread to collect all the info for us uk tmob users into one place. I will get round to it eventualy if some one doesn't beer me to it.

Hi there.
I am on Orange U.K, and i have successfully flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409. Following this guide to flash the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373.
Many international users have flashed this ROM as well but REMEMBER to unlock your bootloader before even considering flashing this ROM.
When unlocking your bootloader, you will notice that you will only have around 300 total RAM but if you flash the hack relevant to your device, you will retain your RAM when you flash to Gingerbread.
Please follow the guide properly and don't skip any step. BTW, if your bootloader is not unlocked, we will probably be getting Gingerbread soon since the SOAK testing is about to begin very soon.
Similar story, i'm on Orange, followed those steps and it's working great. Just had to replace the missing sound files, but apart from that, works a treat.

Now since we have an unlocked bootloader, you can flash any ROM. Just make sure you flash the proper boot.img for your phone. See the fixes section for the pudding thread.

I thought we still had to be careful with the Roms, as some of them contain files that are tied to the kernel version (until the port everything over). For example, the ninja rom, I believe it is crrently tied to AT&T at the moment. I presumed we had to wait for a safe INTL version..
I think we can install and lunch any Rom now. The only limitation for inte. users is Ram issue. Otherwise will work fine.

I haven't had time to install and check out the ROM for my impulse yet. I'm just worried about 4g and wifi connectivity. With my job, having data service on my phone is a must. I know that was a problem with a different ROM for this phone... everything worked except for data and wifi. I guess I'm a little shy to try it as there have been reports of not being able to revert back to Froyo.
Well so far its working on on the first testers phone the second Guy said he is gonna do it when he gets a chance to check it out so hopefully his turns out good

Why do you guys even keep posting on here with useless information.... I keep
seeing the post over and over about the link to the GB download, and how it worked for 1 guy "who is HE ?" but you do not post the link up to the source.
Then somebody says "oh yeah, i am gonna try it later. will let you know how it goes"...... Then nobody ever posts back their progress. Some people come on here with a purpose of helping Dev's or other people to mod their phones.
If you are not going to follow through with your posts, or post useless information
with no links to what you are talking about..... DON'T POST anything at all.
Thanks,

Edit: I did it! Download this file and first update step 1 and then step 2.
http://www.mediafire.com/?ncrnw95th9ekpae
(To start the upgrade I plugged in the phone without battery to the pc while pressing volume up and down)
Now, it is suppose to be downgraded, but it is not booting.. (just operator logo and reboots) but there is no bricking.. I am now trying to update another stock rom froyo posted in this forum.
Edit 2: Secondly, I installed http://www.mediafire.com/?kmh4qbd3v7dslc5 the same way, and its working! but it is u8800pro Froyo. But maybe we have more chances on getting 3g.

I downloaded from a chinese web a stock rom for u8800pro with baseband 203026 (same as u8800-51). I flashed it, and then restored all using clockworkmod files from u8800-51 (also, I replaced all files in pink screen and put the original image files from u8800-51). It worked great! my phone is now u8800-51 froyo again. But I still got no 3g.. Can this be possible? I replaced every file! whats the problem then?

Sorry if this is another useless post. Now I know I won't upgrade knowing that downgrading won't give you your 4g back. I really wish I could afford to get an Atrix. Thanks for the useful posts about downgrading.

[Q] Unlocked bootloader on motorola milestone x?

Hey all:
So I'm really interested in changing my rom, but everywhere I turn I'm told I can't do so because the bootloader is locked on the droid x. I had always been under the impression it was the same for the milestone x since they're both motorola, and basically the same phone except the milestone is debranded and used on smaller cdma networks, rather than verizon... However, as I scour the web in search of enlightenment, I find a discussion about the bootloader, where it was implied that it was verizon, not motorola, who wanted the bootloader locked and that on the non-droid (non-verizon) x's this isn't an issue. Can anyone verify that the bootloader is indeed unlocked on the milestone x, our give me a "safe" way to do so? And if so, what roms would work?
Thanks
I haven't seen anything that says that the bootloader is unlocked on the Milestone X. Verizon may not want an open bootloader but I doubt the smaller carriers do either. At least mine wouldn't.

Hey, another kentucky boy. I'm assuming that means you're on app wireless, which means we should have pretty much the exact same phones. Did you take the 2.3.5 update around the end of last year? Have you tried any custom roms? found any that work on the milestone?
Yeah, I'm with Appalachian! Wireless. I played around with some custom ROMs before the Gingerbread update, but I haven't risked it since. I may give it another go once I'm closer to my contract being up. Now that would probably change if I could get a good SBF image to fall back to if I break something.

Yeah its pretty crappy that Appalachian has never released an sbf.. They're sort of weird about stuff like that... But I saw somewhere on the interweb something about a "generic north american milestone x sbf". Our phones don't seen to have any sort of model customization for app wireless, so maybe that would work?... I hear that the ics gummy rom works on the milestone x, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm new to all this hacking and modding stuff.. I finally have it rooted and found this ics launcher in the market called holo launcher that works pretty well, and I've been experimenting with some metamorph themes (got the r2d2 lock screen...oohh yeahhh...lol), so I don't know if I'll risk it. Maybe when my contact ends in november and I'm during outside the store at 4 in the morning waiting in line for the black friday sale, I'll cave and give it a shot... Lol

After successfully flashing my Milestone X with CyanogenMod I noticed my Google Market was not included. I found it and renamed to update... and placed it on my sdcard. No go, I later tried to replace the bootloader and bricked my X. They gave me another one and now I have Gingerbread. From what I read in the wiki I would have to do all suggested backup apn stuff and flash back to froyo or previous version.
The problem I had when I flashed the Shadow ROM, the kernel was not updated, so I decided there was no real benefit to all this and it might be easier to just keep the latest carrier update and install a new theme.
Good luck,

Hey! Sorry for the long delay. To give you an update, I WAS able to flash vortex RC1 without a problem. However, I wasn't crazy about the design and I couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work even with the Wi-Fi lib fix, so so I was forced to Nandroid back to stock. However, I tried vortex reloaded and not only did I like the design better, but the Wi-Fi worked!! I used it for a while, then did a Nandroid and downloaded and flashed liberty 3 v2, again without a hitch. I can't decide which I like better, so I just go back and forth between the two. I'm so indecisive... lol... but if you're you're interested, you can download liberty and RC1 from the same place. Just Google "blur-based roms on .621/.604" and click the top result, which should be rootzwiki. You can also find an apex rom there. As for vortex reloaded, you'll have to do a little more digging, but it shouldn't be hard to find...
As for choosing a rom, it's all personal preference. But the one thing I can NOT STRESS ENOUGH is that, when using a milestone x, the rom needs to be modified for the .621/.604 hack. As for 2nd-init roms, I have no idea because I've never looked into them. Hope this helps!!
2nd init roms can be used on .621/.604.

Absolute ballache trying to install stock roms

Alright guys?
I want to go back to gingerbread, after having been tempted by the bright lights of ICS, and realising that actually they really aren't that bright. I've played with all sorts of roms, from aurora to shendu to pacman to cyanogenmod 10, all over the place. I've only very recently realised that the best thing for my phone, is to head on back to gingerbread, and install cm7.2.
But I can't. I keep trying a million different methods, and my phone simple responds with 'update failed'.
This is what's in the .log file:
Failure: OSBL°æ±¾¼ì²éʧ°Ü.
dload_sd_ram_data_proc->(retry >= DLOAD_RETRY) failed!
Does anyone have any idea what's going wrong here?
I've tried it with no battery, same result.
I've followed the guides on here, same result.
I've tried only flashing part 2, same result.
Can someone please talk me through this? It's doing my head in and I just want a phone that works.

Try to reflash official ics with all steps and after that, boot the phone once to stock ics and then flash step 2 from official gb.

Okay, I've done it.
I used roadkil's disk image to install the froyo. Then I flashed gingerbread 572, and it installed, finally. Excellent stuff!
BUT now the phone is network locked (I think). It's refusing to connect to the network. I installed the cm7.2 rom (which incidentally is very nice to use), but yeah. I can use it for everything, other than as a phone.
Any ideas? I need it unlocked tomorrow, because I have a date and if my phone doesn't work, I can't contact the girl! Help!

Help!
EDIT: I'll make a new topic.

Oh God, you have a -51 ..
Please tell us that you have -51 .
The procedure is different on Pro.
Anyway, please don't make useless threads.
If you tell us that you have a -51 on CM7.2 Mod thread , then someone would help you.
So anything else you want to ask for this rom, go to the right thread and ask or tell us your problem.
For your problem now, ask somcom3x or danidable on CM7 thread, i'm sure that they can help you , cause they are -51 users.
Regards.
