ClockworkMOD Recovery
Touch Recovery

Neither, using 4ext as all zips flash through it.CWM/TWRP just runs an aroma installer, and when it comes to the installing part it ends instantly, no errors whatsoever.4ext is very nice, except that it doesn't have a sideload option but i'll live with it.

What you described is most likely Aroma's fault, not CWM/TWRP. That thing is glitchy as hell.

i know aroma is responsible for the touch based setup, but it didn't skip in 4ext and it ended straight away in CWM/TWRP.That's all i'm saying.

I'm using clockworkmod recovery touch its great
Sent From My Liquidsmooth Galaxy S3

using clockworkmode touch recovery, sometimes it freezes, but it's ok

cwm is best

4EXT is the best I have used! Never had a single problem with it!

CWM
I use only CWM and also havnt got any problems its easy and fast + safe

Clockwork for now, tried both but Clockwork i think its really simple and stable
(Sent from my Shuttle with XDA Android App)

i can't install TWRP any solution?

Using 4EXT myself as CWM or TWRP has issues with backing up /sd-ext and sometime even partitioning for a SD-EXT as well on the later versions of TWRP and CWM.

Recovery
Only 4EXT Touch. Its the best

CWM recovery.:victory:

How can I move from cwm to 4ext. I have cwm installed. My phone is unlocked and s-on.

I think 4EXT Touch Recovery works better than ClorkWork. Even ROM such as Android Revolution HD included 4EXT Touch as a stock recovery.
Yeah I like that it checks the md5 checksum before flash and a lot more.

I use Clockwork for every single Rom i've ever used.....as for Md5 etc.....i ain't got a clue what it is or never been interested....i simply download whatever Rom I like, whack it on SD card, wipe davlik, battery stats...factory reset and cache partition etc etc....then go into clockwork and instal from there.
Never had a problem and prob flashed 100+ Roms to my desire...lol.

The scripts that you find will do it for you. I prefer doing it manually. I use 4ext touch.

4ext is built on Clockworkmod and adds a lot of extra and awesome features. Everything you can think of and more. Madmaxx82 has done a great job with it. If your device is included in the list of 4ext supported devices, then install it. It's much better than CWM. Especially the touch recovery. CWM backups are fully compatible with 4ext and vice versa (unless you enable tar backups). Md5sum check is important to prevent flashing a corrupted backup. Just this morning as backup of mine was messed up because of a filesystem error on my SD card.
mike1986's super wipe wipes boot, system, data, cache, and .android secure. 4ext recovery has a built in super wipe function to choose before flashing a ROM.

4ext has a lot more features than clock work mod like ext4 converter etc but i dont know for me both work similar
4ext ,the best
When I rooted by DHD, it installed CWM. So I flashed my first ROM with CWM (ARHD 6.3.3). It did not install the O/C Deamon, since I did not realize I needed Ext4 to get it working. ARHD installs Ext4 if you don't have it, so I re-flashed ARHD 6.3.3 this time with Ext4. It is amazing how much easier it is to use (touch interface), and builds in all the tools you will need for a safe recovery (MD5 and log file basically).
There is a free Ext4 updater and I updated my Ext4 to the latest version. You can even get Ext4 control in the market which allows you to start the process from the phone UI. Small thing like reboot into recovery from Sense, rather than power down and power up with volume down, make it much nicer to use.
Ext4 hands down.

so why user take a lot of feautures, when he wants only to flash rom ? please, give a link with ext4 recovery feautures.
My volume-buttons told me that 4ext is a livesaver :good:
Noob question, but if I install 4ext can I still use ROM Manager? (automates everything, makes life a while lot easier)
EDIT:
Another stupid question but what's the difference between an aroma install and a normal one?

Clockwork recovery touch mod help

Hey i haven't been able to figure out how to install this .img file can anyone help me
You can find out if you search for 'flashing recovery through fastboot'. In any case, the best recovery for this device is 4ext touch recovery. Download 4ext Recovery Updater from www.4ext.net and use that to flash recovery (you need to be rooted and bootloader unlocked).

ROM Toolbox has a recovery installer that includes TWRP. Just run the install; it'll overwrite current recovery.
It's under Tools - ROM Management - Recovery
Sent from my SGH-I337M using xda app-developers app
I don't recommend using an app to install a custom recovery. I've seen too many reports of people bricking their device with it.
It's just as easy to use a simple tool to do it...this is the one I prefer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297033&highlight=oudhs
It lets you pick TWRP or CWM and will do the whole thing for you.
If you use rom manager or goo manager ONLY for putting a recovery on it works pretty well. It's when you use it to flash roms is when you can get into trouble. I'd recommend deleting it after getting your recovery. It's too easy to play with it and find the wrong rom for your device. Especially for someone new to flashing.

I flashed Philz from inside TWRP. I would suggest following the instructions for TWRP then flashing Philz from there. I know that works.
Is it possible to flash Philz via flashify? And what is loki or lokied?

Not that I know of. The files in the OP are flashable from an open recovery. I had flashed TWRP before I found this. I would not recommend using something like flashify. Use the step by step guide using adb to flash TWRP. After that use TWRP to flash this. The backups for this are huge so having USB OTG support Is very useful.

I mean that I get an error trying to flash any different recovery, and the methods I've tried to use fastboot to flash a new recovery (CWM) haven't worked.
I tried to use adb to push an alternate recovery to the correct folders in /boot, but that didn't work either
I really want to flash my cm11 build because I can't stand being stuck on my current sluggish rom.

The problem is that TWRP 2.3. It will not allow you to flash older zips that have old versions of update-binary in them. The solution is to find a newer zip that has the right updater-binary in it. I'll be right back with a link to one.
Edit: try this:
