I am in a decent coverage zone but find that my nexus 4 drops in and out of service a lot. Is anyone else on AT&T experiencing this?

Same here in Chicago. I just go into mobile networks and check 2G only. The only bad thing about it is when you make a call or receive, it sounds like its going I cut drop. Right now I have 2g checked off and I'm getting surprisingly good signal with regular hspa.

OK, sprint or Google really needs to come out with a fix for this problem. The nexus s only has full bars in certain areas but once you travel out these "spheres", reception drops tenfold. Wtf sprint and Google?
This is pretty inexcusable. Sometimes it gets so bad that service drops altogether aand the only way to get back service is to reboot the phone. I should NOT have to be doing this. Anyone experiencing the same issues?

Anyone else having these issues? I've noticed that places I always had at least 1-2 bars with my note 2 I will not have any service with my note 3. Also I have been dropping calls in areas that I never did. Could this be my new sim card or should I exchange my phone? I also feel that my wifi connection stability/range is slightly worse than before.
Mine is the same way, don't get the signal my note 2 would and 4G is weaker also .

I hope this is just a first software or sim issue. Or at the very worst a first production run issue. I will likely be bringing mine to Verizon this weekend to test and new sim or exchange if that doesn't make any difference. Annoying.
Idk how much it will help you but I noticed I was in 3G a lot of the time as well. Definitely more than my N2, I switched my preferred network to LTE/CDMA instead of Global and I now have 4GLTE way more. As far as the wifi and phone reception, I myself haven't noticed any huge difference but I did read the international version of the N3 already received 2 updates and they supposedly not only improved the wifi and antenna signals but also battery life. Who knows when we'll see an update though. We are on Verizon.

Tried that and it actually made my signal significantly worse. I switched back to global and my problem seems way worse tonight than any day this week. Can barely hold onto a signal in places that I never had an issue before. Battery pull didn't help at all. I constantly get a message that says I can't send messages and then asks me to retry. Frustrating, will be going to Verizon tomorrow or Friday to return/exchange
Just now noticing this
I wonder if this has anything to do with being rooted? it seems like I just started dropping calls like crazy just today. I do remember getting the sent error on some text messages, though I can't remember if that started befor or after rooting.
Haven't had a single issue with signal or dropping calls. Also my 4G speeds are pretty insane. I'm thinking there are some units with defective radios.
Hi guys,
I live in an area with very weak 4g and 3g service. So I picked up a verizon network extender. It works, but I notice the phone after a while starts getting hot and it looks like the data is jumping around, so to speak, The phone is hot and very slow so I know its confused trying to swap from the extender to maybe what I think is very weak 4g service.
Since I'm on kitkat, i cant disable LTE when I'm home. Any other things you can think of to fix this issue? It's driving me crazy!
I have a network extender and I dont have this issue where I live I have very weak 4g signal as well might be your phone

Yeah the extender shouldn't be able to do that to the phone. You might have to send your phone in

The extenders aren't real good thru walls or floors and are only good for about 30 feet from your phone. If you have a lousy home internet connection...you could have issues also

I'm on Sprint JC and I've gotten slightly lower speeds in my living room than my Note 3 ,but still very solid 4G , But my city has strong Sprint LTE..
I've had no interruptions no sputters.

Do you think should I request an RMA for my phone? Or maybe is Sprint side

Just helped my girlfriend's mom with her new phone today (she's not had a smartphone before). I was very pleasantly surprised and happy for her that her phone registered 10-12 dBm better signal than my S6 (S6 and MXP both on Sprint right next to each other on the countertop).
Edit: I don't know that it would make a difference, but maybe just verify as an easy check, see if it is set to LTE. Her phone was initially set to Global, for some reason (it worked either way, but I didn't pay attention to signal before switching it to LTE).
I think Global is for aloud the phone to be selecting either LTE, 3G or 1x based on the signal, so if we switch to LTE only as soon I move to LTE ill be losing data

I have a DE phone with the latest update. Service in my area this week has been horrible.( Wichita Kansas ) I've mostly been in 3g with service coming and going all week. My coworkers have this problem as well. Is anyone else experiencing poor service ?

The tower in my area is notoriously crappy. many times even text messages will delay until we travel to another cell. My ex as an example received a Text message two days after I had sent it. no rhyme or reason, just crap service across all devices.
As far as 3g goes, if others have 4g my only suggestion is to reboot the phone. worked for my s3 running cyanogenmod 12.
Call them and ask them to investigate the tower. Have your coworkers call as well. You would need to know your signal strength for any real troubleshooting. Its possible that another vendor put up a tower or increased bands (channels) on existing tower. Also, does your employer have an extender/repeater. Maybe it is having issues?

I'm going to give it a couple more days just in case they're working in the area and no my company does not have an extender Network out here I wish they did. Thanks
The BPA1 update really screwed with my reception. Prior to the update, I would be 2-3 bars 4G service with no drops inside my fire hall. After the update, I bounce between 1x & 3G with only 1 bar each depending on where I am in the building and it chews through battery the whole time. I updated one night at the hall and went from 2 bars 4G and streaming video with no drop outs to 1x and barely able to load Google.com all while sitting in one spot.
The phone also lags considerably while switching between networks and/or wifi.

I agree the BPA1 update made my reception really bad too. I've gotten so many dropped calls at my house since then. I think I'm dropping Verizon as soon as my contracts up....
You can try 4G switcher app and toggle off LTE/CDMA auto PRL and then back to it to refresh your data?
Flashed back to BOG5 . Signal strength seems fine now. Maybe Verizon puts out ****ty updates on purpose just so people get tired of the poor performance and go buy a new phone . I hope not, makes me wonder

Now that I have unlocked the bootloader, I flashed back to the BOK3 modem and have much better signal strength and faster downloads as a result. Call audio is suffering a bit though with a nasty echo at times...
