[Q] What does the 'popping bubbles' sound mean? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

My new Galaxy S4 makes more beeps and boops than my electronics projects. I've managed to figure out what most of them mean, but at seemingly random times throughout the day, my S4 will make a sound like two bubbles popping. The second one is higher in pitch than the first. The "bubbles popping" is what you'd hear on a children's cartoon when bubbles are popped.
What does this sound mean? I've delved through as many settings menus as I can find and haven't been able to determine where this sound is coming from or what it means.
(Samsung engineers: file this under 'usability issues,' will ya?)

Its a notification tone, most likely from an app you use or you default notification tone under sound settings. Its called Dew Drops.

Try installing audio manager from market and turn up system volume,... not sure where to find the system volume in phone settings but audio manager is good.

How'd you fix it?
(never mind) ... Why was it low in the first place?
Mine does this toodame happens to lock/unlock sound. I think it routes the sound to the call speaker instead of the rear speaker
Now that you mention it, I have the same. All my volume settings are set to Full and in sound options, I have selected to have sounds fr dial pad and for touch screen and for lock/unlock. I don't think they are redirected to call speaker because I don't hear sound there either.
Anyone found a solution without installing 3rd party app?
Ok, looked deeper into it and discovered that actually the only solution is the audio manager. It seems to be a must have as Android misses critical volume settings on its interface. That application is the only way to allow you to adjust the volume.
That's no excuse for HTC, Google or whoever is responsible for the Android OS or DHD. (really, who is responsible? I never thought that)
Going to give it a try myself as well.
Chefs, is there something that can be done on your end?
I use Sound Manager for this issue...happened to me twice already...
Other applications are responsible for this.
I too had faced this problem and suddenly the tones of dial pad were gone on my htc desire, it was only vibrating. The settings of Sound were all fine, still no tone. So being a tester I am, I backtracked and remembered what all I did.
It turned out when we install applications in Android we give them access to core functionalities of system. I had used Fring application prior in the day, where I had used Fring's Dialer pad. I logged into fring again went to dialer pad, increased volume and indicator said "Volume" unlike any other indicator of volume in HTC Desire. After increasing the volume, I logged out and went to phone dialer again, and tones were back. So our applications are responsible for turning down volume. A centralized application which controls all application can come in handy and there are few in android market available.
Hope this helped
I have deleted some apps from my phone following this problem but seemed to make no difference... today however the volume on dialer has returned to normal??? But also the noises on the qwerty pad now sound like an old fashioned typewriter??? My 4 yr old was messing with phone earlier but checked settings I can think of and nothing has changed... confused!
yea i got the same problem tried emailing HTC they dont know anything about it they just replied with
Kindly go to Menu>settings>sounds>check:
audible touch screen
audible selections
screen lock sounds
:/
thanx for XDA or i would've never sort it out

Weird noise before call

Hey.
I just got this phone, one thing I noticed when the phone is restarted and a call is made, there is a weird noise before you actually hear the tone......
I think it only happens when you reboot the phone....
Anyone know whats wrong?
Yea, problem most likely between the ears. There is no off hook tone.
I think it's white noise.

packet transfer sounds....... depending on where you are and how you are connecting to the network these residual sounds may or may not be buffered out, they do not affect over all performance once connection is made.......not on an issue but good ears to notice

Click to collapse
Go into Settings > Call settings > All calls > Call status tones, and see if the box for "Call connect tone" is checked...

[Q] Noises

My RAZR is making the tone I have set for my notification. I noticed it usually starts after I get off a call. Also I git a task manager and used it once I used it it stopped. Finally this just started up randomly. Hope someone could help thanks in advance.
Missed voicemail perhaps?

Thats what I thought at first but then i called myself with a different phone and didn't leave a voice mail and it still did it.
Did you ever figure out what this was? My wife's phone makes a noise randomly. Don't think it's the notification alert, but some type of sound.

Mine did this because of Yahoo mail. Even though I turned off notifications, I did not turn off the sound. I would still get the notification sound, even though I didn't get a notification in my status bar.
Ok, thanks! I'll check that!

I've been hearing my phone make some strange noises the past week or so, and I think I just figured out what it is... apparently I was resting my phone on my wallet and it was picking up the smart chip in my credit card with NFC. No notifications, just the noise. I tested it by putting my card (the corner with the little wireless symbol) about the half inch under the camera, and sure enough... every time it made a noise.
I've only noticed it in the past week or two, around the same time as I did the most recent OTA update.

[Q] How to Remove Outgoing Call Notification Sound?

When I place a call my VZW LG G2 makes a tone to signify the beginning of the outgoing call. I don't really like it, but it's pretty harmless, so I thought nothing of it. When connected to my car's bluetooth the sound that comes over the speakers to signify the start of a call is absolutely ear shattering. Thankfully the first time it happened I was sitting in a parking lot, but it was very startling. I've gone through all of the sound, notification, and call setting menus. This wasn't an issue with my GNex, so I don't think the car is producing the sound.
Does anyone know how to disable this sound, or at least know which sound file is being referenced so I can replace it with an empty file (I'm rooted)?

Wireless Charging Notification Sound

Is there a way to disable Wireless Charging Notification Sound? There are two different types of sounds my S5 makes when placed on a wireless mat. A three tone sound, followed by a two tone sound. The three tone sound is made only once ... I do not have any problem with it. Its the two tone sound that drives me crazy. It keeps ringing all through the night, at random times. It looks like it makes a sound each time the charge state changes (stop, start, resume, pause, etc). I do not want to disable my notification sounds or phone volume altogether. I just want to mute this one sound (without ROOT, I would like to add). TIA
Is your phone in the case? Is that it losing connectivity with the wireless charger. If it is in a case try using the phone on the charger without the case to see if this prevents the two tone from repeating

Same question for me.
I would also like to find out how to disable this sound. I have root so I have access to system files. I wonder if there is a setting in /system/csc/features.xml to investigate. I know that the camera shutter sound can be disabled from that file so I wonder if it also deals with notification sounds.
