This guide is for unrooted devices. If u are rooted with a custom recovery , hard reset procedures may or may not apply .
Here are some tips of mine which have seemd to work for me
Edit : if u have just updated to ota , this tweaks will work better with hard reset .
Calibration technique: ( does not involve full drain cycle)
1) do a hard reset at 100% ( green LED) ,
2) when phone restarts charge till (green LEd) again,
3) Do another hard reset
4) fully charge to 100% (green LED)
5) drain the phone to 2% remaining
6) fully charge to 100%
1) Go to settings > network and change to WCDMA (only ) seems to make the battery drain lesser . May not work for some if coverage in yr area is spotty as it will drain more battery . But generally if u are in a country where there is good coverage and 3G everywhere, use this setting to save battery life .
2) Install this app WiFi-matic . Set the options there to what works best for u
3) go to settings - wifi - "keep wifi always on" and disable the "best wifi performance" setting . The HTC one wifi is extremely power efficient and for some it may give battery life savings more than the 3G radio sleep
4) use the in built HTC email for all your emails and avoid using separate apps for gmail and hotmail .
The Htc email behaves more intelligently due to smart sync feature
5) Turn on the settings - deepsleep , power saver at all times and u can individually customize the power saver options to your liking . The power saver still runs 4 cores but at a lower speed but puts connections to sleep . The difference between the 2.
Power saver - reduces brightness, cpu , vibrations and puts connections to sleep after 15 mins when screen off
Deep sleep mode - turns them off entirely after prolonged inactivity
6) go to settings > apps and disable any apps u are not using eg. stock HTC apps or other stuff like google now.
[Update]: Disable maps , turn off location all instances of location featurs in maps and phone settings"
7) the usual other stuff that are recommended with all phones like turn off bluetooth, gps , if u are not using them.
8) Blinkfeed - Set to update over wifi only ( edit: In the facebook app , set auto refresh interval to never for massive battery savings)
9,) disable or enable GPU rendering in settings. Helps saves battery life on quad core devices by using less of the Cpu cores . However this setting may work differently for some depending on the configuration set up eg, if power saving on /off. recommended is testing to see what works best for u. Edit : depending on your soc and phone variants, firmware . This setting either helps or does not .
10) New : go to settings backup and restore use HTC account instead of Google . Turn off daily backup .
12) New go to settings - autosync - Google , turn off all settings under "maps and latitude" and turn off "let Google maps access your location " in location settings . this steps may possible help some by minimizing the havoc Google maps does to battery life.
13) New : disable auto brightness in display and install lux auto brightness app from playstore, put values from as shown in the screenshot link for massive battery savings

I had some finde results with it on my One S.
I always just turn off bluetooth and gps and tend to find my battery is pretty sweet

Haven't heared about that yet. Thanks for that hint. I'm trying it right now and i will report back in a few days.

GPS is the biggest battery eater (after screen lol), thank god I don't need gps.
I heard that using power saver could potentially use just as much battery if you have the cpu saver option checked because according to another battery thread here on xda (thread name "battery stats thread") someone said that the cpu power saver option only uses 2 of snapdragons 4 processors which causes the 2 to work over time switching on and off using just as much if not more battery than when power saver is off so if you're going to use power saver I'd try with cpu saver on and off to see the difference

I don't think it limits the cores . It limits the speed of the cores . When u turn on cpu power saving it operates around 1.1 ghz but all 4 cores operating . I think u need root app like 2nd core ( for Samsung galaxy devices) to turn off cores . i dont think even samsung designed power saver this way. because if the power saving function limits the cores then performance will be affected like for example a graphics intensive game is loaded up , and the user many not know how to deal with it
I tested with an app called cpu usage . As u can see from my attached that even with power saving on all 4 cores are running
The best battery saving in any ROM is STweaks with Siyah Kernel. you can control all cores of your cpu individually. You can control voltages for different stages. Loads available.
But you need root. You can even have dual boot run stock and any other ROM same time.
Another good app for all system setting is android tuner.

is siyah kernel avaialble for HTC one? i dont think so right??

Yes. Ive an app called micro cpu monitor that displays each cpu activity on screen, and all 4 cores are pumping during power saver.

to compeltely turn off cores thats the job of the developers in development forum.
i dont think we can turn off cores just by using the power saver and i dont think HTC or samsung design power management in this way.
because samsung galaxy users need a custom kernel , apps , roms and mods, tweaks like siyah ect to achieve that like a user mentioned earlier
unless i am wrong, someone can prove me wrong..
What's the best battery saving kernel?
Any other tips, such as how to get apps that run in the background to remain off, I seem to always find google maps and other google services in use, even when I may not use the actual app.

Download an app called greenify. Add Google maps, google+ and what ever other apps you find to be eating the battery to the app. This will make the apps hibernate when not in use.

Under Settings > System
TIP #1 - Go to Theme > Select a darker color as lighter colors tend to use more power.
TIP #2 - If you have a data plan/service > Turn off airplane mode, Turn off Wi-Fi Mode, Turn off Bluetooth
TIP #3 - Email & Accounts - All the emails you have configures - Under "Download new content" > Select "manually"
(You really don't need to get your emails synchronizing based on a time. If at anytime you want to check you email > Press and hold the top of the screen and select > Sync). Synchronize your mail manually.
TIP #3 - Lock & Wallpaper - Make sure your custom wallpaper is dark in color scheme
TIP #4 - Screen time-out - Make it 30seconds (If you're really not touching anything on your phone for 30seconds, it shouldn't be showing anything right)
TIP #5 - Location - Turn off
TIP #6 - Find my phone - Uncheck "Save my location periodically for better mapping" (Also uncheck "Get results faster")
TIP #7 - Phone Updates - Uncheck "Notify me when new updates are found" (Also uncheck "Use my cellular data connection to check for updates")
Under Settings > Applications
TIP #8 - Games > Connect to Xbox LIVE - You can set this to off if your not always playing app games
TIP #9 - Pictures + Camera - Turn off "Auto upload to Skydrive"
Under the Live Tiles Screen
TIP #10 - Facebook (Make sure you log out everytime you are done).

Note: What many people do not realize is that the battery drain might be a human result. Its an exciting new operating system, and many of you are probably playing with it more than usual. I know I am looking at my phone much more than when I had an everyday winmo 6.5
After you get used to it and start treating it like a normal phone, you will notice the battery use start to mellow. Think of it as a new toy that you play with all the time and eventually it gets old and less rapid use.

Not works for HD2 port. Battery still leaking very fast. (~24h in standby, 10 minutes in game...).
Already did every of these things... Even if nobody have Amoled screen on there HD2. Still can't make it through a day...
reducing drain...
my hd2 on wp7 lasted 3 days, due to roaming issues..
had data off, 3g off, synch off, no wifi..
but full 3 days, no gaming also, just some sms and phone calls.
looks like normal bat.-draining to me, like on Android or wm6.5 nothing one should wonder about

Check out Screebl from the Market.
Awesome at extending the battery life.
Really Such a nice operating system. But With Few problems on HD2.
1. Really getting hot on lower part of phone after 1/2 hour straight use.
2. Battery charging takes more then 3 hours.
3. Battery drains very fast even in stand by (24 hrs stand by(with 3G on,low brightness,no email,no gps),~30 hrs stand by with out 3G, 12 hours with some use and two email accounts with 3G)
Looking forward for some fixes in next gen WP7.
yeah battery drain for me is pretty quickly.... but I'm pretty sure it's because it constantly restarts it-self... When I solve it I'll see the real battery life.

Are you kidding? All that stuff is already off. Why you still trying to refuse that batt problem exists?
Because it doesn't! My HD2 lasts a whole 2 days on one charge. I also conditioned the battery - full discharge, turn off, charge fully while OFF, boot. That helped with the battery meter, which was a bit off previously. Other than that, i have all kind of sync settings on, two email accts, connected to live/xbox live, auto brightness and i absolutely don't see battery drainage that's heavier than it was in WM6.5!
Maybe radio 2.15 isn't working well on your operator? That can cause drainage, too. Do you have WIFI disabled when no WIFI is used? WIFI tends to drain battery heavily.
same problem excesive battery drain with wph7 on hd2.
with wm 6.5 , 3 days as normal usage.
with wph7 , no wifi , no 3g , no bluethoot , no data conection , no sync , no mail , ubication disabled , maps ubication disabled , xbox conection disabled , no callings , only in sleep mode , less than 18h. , yes it's a problem.
This is really strange, because my battery lasts about 2 days, including all data on and using it as normal phone - live account is disabled. So I`m very pleased with it, do you guys with lots of drainage have any other apps like HTC Hub running?

I rebooted phone to be sure that no any apps are running or holded, nothing changed.
So guys i am on check rom v6 with fm kernel.
I even tried cf root kernel n francos kernel.
Modem is XXLA4
Flashed ics domination theme
So i installed better battery widget and cpu spy.
Cpu spy says my phone is in deep sleep mode 99% of time. And in better battery it has no wakelocks but still battery uses 3.5% approx per hr even when phone is deep sleep.mode.
Intresting thing is if i put my phone on charging. Better battery says my phone is gaining battery at 30-40%per hour. N then if i remove the charger even after 5min. Phone consumes 0.0% battery and 1%drop can last upto 10hours in sleep mode.
And then as soon as i run any application battery drop is 40%per hour and eventually comes down to 3.5-8% within 15min of closing every app and on putting phone to sleep mode.
Can somebody help.
Pleaseee... i am loosing 4% batery every hour. :-(
N even wifi is off.
Cell mode is gsm only
Brightness down to 0 and auto brightness off
Animations off
Pure black wallpaper
Vibrations off

Hi,
Just curious, have you turn off auto-sync and sync in background off as well?
Also, you may try to see what apps you have on your phone, (as you said your phone's batt drops at 40% when your using any app), some apps are really power hogs when it comes to battery drain...
just my own thought...

Uninstall Facebook app... there are many reports that the stock facebook android app consumes much power than just going to the internet thru the default stock browser and accessing facebook from there..., I don't know about yahoo mail app though but usually with wifi as well, the phone sometimes never sleeps (even if you have already turn off or shut off your wifi connection)
Try to see if you can enable Wifi Sleep policy in Settings>Wireless and Network>Wifi Settings>menu key>Advanced>
Also set Animations to OFF in Display and Screen Mode to Movie..
See if that helps a bit...

Well, I think doing a Factory Reset would do the trick.. Try it and don't restore or install back most of the apps first, just observe if you'll still be getting the battery draining issue or not (perhaps an hour or two...... if not.. then, slowly install/restore one by one your app, and check on your battery after you install it...
I'm pretty sure, one or some of those apps (you have) are the culprit to your main battery issue...

I dont think so because when i unplug the charger and put my phone directly on sleep without using any app. The phone gives an awesome 1% drop per 10hour.
But as soon as i use a single app and then put my phone on sleep it gives 2%drop per hour.

Make a backup of your current ROM.
Revert back to stock GB + root & CWM. In the process, make sure you wipe dalvik, data, cache, and battery stats. Stick to something like LA4 or LA6 radio.
If the problem still persists after doing this, you know it's hardware-related. If it doesn't, it's the software on your current setup.
It's too hard to pinpoint over the internet as we don't know what apps you have going, etc.
Install badass battery manager, n check, if any perticular application sucks battery.
If not conclusive, try hard reset. Then full disharge n full recharge battery.

I'll start off that I'm a novice android user, I got this phone a month ago and before that I was using a Nokia E63.
Anyway, so I rooted and all that junk, did a factory reset and all that junk, and now my battery is complete garbage on idle.
Before I rooted, when in idle for 8~ hours, the slope was very minimal and I lost about 1-5% battery life. Now, the battery is draining like crazy, to the point where I have to charge several times a day.
I know the problem isn't the fact that I rooted.. but what is!?!

OK, now this is strange,
at first I thought it was fixed; what I did was update Google Maps. After a few hours, the problem of "google services" came back...
help!!
Keep your phone connected to Wi-Fi while you're sleeping and it will drain much less (I've sometimes seen <5% over 8-10 hours). Keeping your phone on network will continue to "wake it" during the night.
Get GSAM Battery Monitor or BetterBatteryStats to get a better look at exactly what is draining your battery so quickly.
It has to be one of the Google apps running on the background. Like somebody mentioned, get better battery stats to see what's exactly draining your phone. Also, I've noticed that if I keep NFC enabled, some apps that utilize it, will kill my phone way faster. So check NFC maybe, try disabling it and see if it makes a difference.

I can only underline what ppl said in terms of franco kernel. Easy to patch and insane improvement. And it is for free unless you buy his app. I was laughing when I saw those pics with such a low battery life. I always get 6 hours screen on time.

WiFi..no way he gets that with data as this phone SUCKS on battery life with 3G/H.
Well before I rooted there was absolutely no problem with battery. I use a $15 tmobile plan with no data. I basically use my phone like a tablet. NFC and most other features are disabled.
I'll give that other kernel a shot once I figure our how to do all this...

Obviously it's this thing called Google Services that doesn't show up *AT ALL* when I was using the phone all yesterday. It seems to only use battery when the phone is sleeping.
Halp!

I had the exact same issue, and there is a problem with the Nexus 4 in that some applications stop the phone deep sleeping, even though the same applications have no issues on other devices. This keep awake seems to happen lower down and isn't recorded in Android as the phone being awake. The same issue appears on Franco kernel (I've tested it) as well so that isn't a fix if this is the problem.
Follow my post here to see if you are affected, then work to find the problem app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36100401#post36100401
If anyone wants to test this with other kernels then:
Download CPU Spy. Reset CPU spy timers to zero, and first check the phone is deep sleeping by leaving for 30 minutes with screen off and USB cable unplugged and confirm Deep Sleep is around 90% or more. Now download Snowfall Live Wallpaper and set the wall paper as active, repeat the above, and see that Deep Sleep is never entered into. Use your favourite battery stats checker and you will find no indication of wake locks. Snowfall Live Wallpaper doesn't even have permission to keep a device awake.
Next set a different wall paper from the stock options (live or static) and repeat the test, note that Deep sleep is STILL not being entered even though the live wall paper is no longer in use. Now from the list of cached processes, remove the cached process for the Snowfall Live wall paper, repeat the test, and now the phone is entering Deep Sleep. So this particular wall paper has the power to stop the phone deep sleeping even when it is a cached (and so stopped) process. Another application that causes this bug is BeWeather & Widgets.
Even un-installing the problem application doesn't return the phone to be able to deep sleep, as the app is still a cached process. This can make it difficult to find the app causing a problem.
Testing these applications on a Nexus 7 and HTC One X causes no issues with the device deep sleeping, ergo, Nexus 4 bug. I'm sure there are other applications causing the same issue.

Phil

It is not garbage at all.
The op must have too many background apps running. Probably has nothing to do with the kernal or rooting..

I have wifi on almost all the time and I get a full day, 5 hours screen on time. I use franko kernel and aokp.
Google services must be something like lattitude reporting your location, or an app that polls data all the time. Even with
auto sync on, whatsapp syncing and wifi on all day I dont have google services anywhere in my battery list.
Of course, it is entirely possible it is something to do with google now, which I have turned off

I originally hated Google Maps (before I rooted) because it used up about 1-5% of my battery with GPS and all other related settings disabled... no problems at all with battery back then. I basically did the same thing after I rooted, but then I started having the Google Services battery problem, where then I re-enabled most of the Google applications I disabled (maps, books, magazines, wallet) and updated them, hoping for Google Services to be satisfied, but nada.
Anyway, today was TERRIBLE. I need to keep WiFi on all the time otherwise Google Services eats my battery. But at the end of school today, I looked at my phone in horror to see that Google Maps took a huge chunk of my battery (and 3 hours earlier there was no trace of Google Maps in the battery status settings)
Battery life today : the bad stuff started happening once I left the mobile service area. Google Maps did not show up on battery settings before that time.
Keep AWAKE FOR AN HOUR???
still not sure what this is, 5% from this app basically translates to another 30-40 minutes of battery life
acceptable wifi usage
CPU SPY:
I just disabled the Google Location Services, I wonder if that would change anything... could it really be that simple? Unlikely.
As for applications, I don't have many... and I don't have a live wallpaper or anything. I keep my phone on the lowest brightness indoors and automatic outside. I try to save every bit of battery I can, and a useless wallpaper or running application doesn't help with that (I uninstalled a few apps like FB that kept on running in the background)
I wish I had 20 hours of battery life... My N4 is empty after 6 hours on CM10 with Francos kernel.
Freeze Maps
Hi all,
I've spent some time in the battery life thread, seeing what usage times people are getting and how varied they are. Through testing different ROMs and set ups, I've found what works for me and I'd like to share it. I'm averaging at least a day in run time, with 6-8 hours of screen time. I've pushed my phone to 2+ days with 10 hours screen time. Here's how (universal tips, should work for anyone regardless of ROM):
1. MY SET UP
This should give you all a good idea of my set up. On paper it's a power user set up, but I still get amazing battery.
KNOXraid JB, though I get similar results on stock 4.3
Wifi/GPS/Bluetooth on 100% of the time
Data toggled on when needed
Power saving mode always on (I see no noticeable lag)
Sync always on, 2 Gmail accounts
Samsung Galaxy Gear always connected via BT (10+ hours every day)
Poor LTE signal always, between 1-2 bars
Blocking mode enabled to turn off LED and block notifications from 9pm-6am.
Nova Launcher Prime instead of Touchwiz Home
2. PROPER CHARGE
This is probably one of the most important aspects of battery life, yet few people talk about. Here're my steps:
(note: these are just MY steps--others may recommend otherwise, but this is what has worked for me)
Step 1: You've flashed a ROM, or simply turned on your phone out of the box:
Let the battery drain all the way to 0, until it shuts down completely.
Remove the back cover and take the battery out (~5 min is what I do)
Put the battery back in and charge all the way to 100% while the phone is OFF
NOTE I only use the original USB3 charger with the wall outlet--never through a USB port on a laptop.
Turn the phone on by holding the power button
Restart the phone once, wait until it says "Charged" on the lockscreen, then unplug
Step 2: After you've done this, you can charge your phone normally. I do the battery pull and full charge once a month or so.
3. SETTINGS
I turn most things I don't use off--huge battery savings can be found here!

5. ROM IMPACT
This one is up to interpretation, but KNOXRAID v2.6 has given me about a 20% increase in battery over stock.
I installed it into Rom Slot 1, still have TW on my Stock slot...
Keep in mind though, YMMV!
6. OTHER MODS
Here are any other modifications I've made to my phone...
I rooted with Kingo Root
Installed AOSP Camera, so I have both AOSP/TW cameras
note: I froze the TW Gallery, I just use the AOSP Gallery instead
Xposed Framework + GravityBox (just to change battery icon)
Installed S-Voice onto KNOXRAID (I like it, haha)
64gb Micro SD, Photos and Videos saved to that instead of internal storage
Replaced Google Maps with older APK
I DO NOT USE GREENIFY AT ALL
Hopefully this post helps someone somewhere increase their battery by a little bit!

I've used it in the past on Google Maps and had the infamous note 3 gps issues. Since not using it my gps had been perfect--probably speculation, but it may have something to do with the way it hibernates the app.
Also, my battery has been better without it installed, but as always, ymmv!

Tasker to 1) enable wifi at Display On. 2) disable wifi after 3 minutes when not connected.
Tasker to 1) enable BT on power connection. 2) disable BT after 3 minutes when not connected.
Tasker to 1) enable GPS on start of GPS enabled apps. 2) disable GPS after 10 minutes of app not in focus.
Tasker to reboot phone daily at a convenient time (I use 4:00 am and connected to power)
Disable Haptic feedback.
Certainly uninstall or freeze the apps that you do not use.
Use App Ops to disable "Keep Awake" on your installed apps (leave the android services as initially configured)
Disable all the Connection items that you do not use (NFC, Nearby devices, screen mirroring, s Beam) as well as smart screen, motions. Pen Monitor, etc.
Decide if you truly need all those email and other accts synced, FB, G+, Dropbox, etc... (If it uses data, it also uses power)
Decide on those weather apps and widgets... to you need them, do you need them updating automatically that often.
this is my first full day on xnote v12 and its been comparable to knoxraid 2.6 jb as far as battery life goes. i unplugged at 530 this morning and im down to 15% battery life left and its 930pm. not to bad but i would love to go longer than 24 hrs without needing to charge just to say i can lol
so i just got on knoxraid and wow. I have most of my apps re-installed and through the whole process of flashing and getting all of my preferences in order, the battery life seems to have doubled.
stock rooted:
~ 3-3.5 hrs of screen time on 100% battery
knox raid: (without greenify)
2.5 hrs screen time and still above 50% battery.
looking at 5-6 hrs of screen time now. wooot.
I don't have any of that installed yet.

Guess it could only get better from there! Also not to be a damper, but your screens would probably best be shared in the battery life discussion thread. I just created this as a type of guide for people looking to maximize their full battery. Any tips you have that I should add are more than welcome though!
Cheers

5-6 isn't bad depending on your up time (2 days with that screen on time is ok). From 100% to 0% in 24 hours you should see about 7-8 hours of screen on. Try my tips if you haven't already and you should be well on your way!

For battery life, I look at the wakelocks with Wakelock Detector.
On NB4 I was seeing tons of diagnostics.client.Wakelog ever since the January OTA. I would see 10 percent per hour drain after a phone call unless I rebooted.
i tried everything in terms of factory resets and so on but they kept coming back.
I tried SafeStrap and loaded two ROMs: KnoxRaid 2.6 and X-Note 7.
With X-Note 7, I see no diagnostics.client wakelogs. I see about 1 to 2 percent wake time. I get about 0.33 percent per hour drain with Wifi and BT on. CPU Spy shows as high as 97 percent deep sleep overnight. Basically, with a few phone calls and only necessary app work (check bank account, texting, news, and so on), I used less than 20 percent of battery per day.
With KnoxRaid, I am seeing the nlp wakelocks. I like the overall look and feel of the ROM, but the wakelocks are annoying. I am going to try some more with this ROM.

With stock knoxraid, i had very little wakelocks, but after installing apps and such, they have increased. I am fairly sure that google now/search is to blame. but i use that all the time and cant really get rid of it.
to stay on topic, with all these tweaks, i got to 4.5 hrs screen time with 24hrs uptime. this will likely be my peak, as since then a lot of installs have occured, including facebook. might have to install greenify again.

Strange, I've got no wakelocks on knoxraid with a bunch of apps installed.
For Facebook I'd suggest using the web version, less intense on battery! You can definitely push past 4.5 with the right set up.

BATTERY LIFE TIPS FROM - https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/116517178872973348174
""Battery Tip 1: Discharge your device all the way until it turns off, plug it in, charge up, turn on, after boot...unplug. Do this every two weeks. Optimal ranges to begin charges is usually 10-13% and above while your device is off. If On it may not work as well due an calibration issue.
Battery Tip 2: Go to the Google Settings App, Location, then turn off Location Reporting. Your phone location apps will still work great, Google Now will also but it won't pop up Transit stops unless you open and refresh. It will still pop up Time To Leave info. There is currently a bug that randomly triggers the CPU to keep active with a constant 7-10%. I narrowed this down to Location or rather one of Moto's custom LocationServices process conflicting. When this happens, your stand by drain increases(loosing 2-5%/hr not doing anything). A reboot will fix it. Read more: #motoxbugs Sadly, I don't believe Moto will fix it. For now, this helps prevent it and lowers the ping rate Google Search uses for location requests.
Battery Tip 3: Android OS is too high(Is it's cpu time 2hr or more after 13hrs)? Disable Android Device Manager in the Google settings App by unchecking the first option. Reboot, twice. Monitor it until your next discharge. If you see a difference, then this is your problem. Test it, by enabling it again and reboot. I found a way to keep it on and not experience extremely high Android OS but I don't have enough testers to be 100% sure it works. This part is an Google issue. For now, you can use Moto's version of this service.
--
Things to note, an overnight stand by drain that I've found achievable is 1%/hr. The tips above should help get you there. I've helped and seen users get 0.3-0.6%/hr on stock software and no root. I'll say the X is able to get good stand by but right now for majority of users they'll see the optimal 1%/hr to 1.7%/hr. Even in airplane mode, which is just wrong to me, Android OS being a tad high is the reason why. Hopefully..and I hope, Moto optimizes stand by drain like it did on the Moto G.
That's it for now, have fun. Let me know any good and bad below. Hopefully I can write a post with more tips on my blog to help more.""

Can you explain why this helps battery life? Is this battery calibration? It is to remove a wakelock? Also, I'm not sure I understand the procedure completely.

Discharging your battery down to 0% is not good for the battery or your device. I would change this tip to "reboot any time you take your phone off the charger"

that is true. but draining your battery down to 0 doesn't actually fully discharge the battery. Companies know this so when it gets that close the phone auto shuts down before it actually fully discharges the battery. Did lots of research on it and I don't think fully discharging the battery to 0 is a problem. Clearly, even then it hits "0" it is not actually at 0 because the phone uses power to **** itself down, thus protecting the battery from actually reaching 0.
This isn't as much of a battery saving tip as a battery calibration thing. It will help your battery charge properly and show your discharge rate properly as opposed to randomly losing a lot of battery all at once because it is reporting wrong as oppossed to your battery actually draining that fast. Or for users that can stay on 0 battery for many hours. Thats a calibration issue that this technique fixes.

I think he was referring to the app "Google Settings" in the app drawer. The first setting is to remotely locate the device and the second setting allows you to remotely lock and erase. I'm guessing the method you described disables both completely.
Google Settings > Android Device Manager > "Remotely locate this device" (uncheck)
On an unrelated note, I've been wrestling with the high amount of wakelocks from NlpCollectorWakeLock and NlpWakeLock. After trying a ton of different options and disabling specific apps and/or services, the one with the most success so far is disabling the scanning of wifi networks even when wifi is off.
Settings > WiFi > Advanced > "Scanning always available" (uncheck)
As best I can tell, that eliminated a majority of the wakelocks I was getting. I still get NlpCollectorWakeLock and NlpWakeLock but it's on the order of a few minutes per 4-5 hours vs. ~1 hour per 4-5 hours. All other apps (tasker, maps, etc) work fine and all other settings are enabled (location reporting, high accuracy location mode, etc).
YMMV but it seems to have helped me quite a bit over the last 24+ hours. I'm sure there are further improvements to be made but at the end of the day yesterday I had 35% battery left whereas in the past it'd be <10%.
In my experience, I leave Google tracking and android device manager on all the time. I get typically get 3 hours on screen time with with at least 24 hours off charger.
I leave them on bc my last device was stolen, and had I left them on, I would have been able to find it quicker.

I disabled a couple of the things you mentioned (I left location reporting on, though, google now navigation works weird without it on), and my wake times went from about 15% down to 1%.
Thanks!
Wow, thanks.
I implemented your # 2 and 3 and now I am getting crazy battery life. Easily makes it through the day with no wifi, lots of talk/text, and about 3 hours of screen time. I maybe have 30-40% after that
Turning off Location Reporting really made a difference for me, thanks!

I have to say so far #2 tip works great. I can notice since yesterday that the phone is actually sleeping and my battery doesn't drop.
