Was just browsing on stock browser and out of nowhere the phone froze and then decided to reboot. I had a look at the temperature and it was just above 50 degrees.
I'm running the latest UK stock firmware MDM.
Does anyone have any idea why this happened?
Thanks in advance

I had similar problems sometimes on Galaxy S2 but not with the S4 so far.
I'm also running MDM but with a higher changelist than yours (it's the brazilian firmware), so they might have fixed this problem here.

When I saw that 'they' downloaded an update pack to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (without asking me if I need it) I immediately went to Settings + Applications manager + All + Software update (and disabled it, plus cleared data and cache).
So, I'm still sitting with my 4.1.1. The SUPERPHONE is extremely smooth, without lag or bugs. So, if everything is perfect why I need this ridiculous update?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
You might need it depending on whether your phone is susceptible to the sudden death syndrome.
I can confirm that the battery life issue for 4.1.2 has been fixed since the previous update, so there's no reason not to update really...

Sudden death -yes
Battery life - not even close. 4.1.1 is still much better than 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 when it comes to that
I get between 5-8 hours of screen on time on both. So no difference.

CPU is located on top of your phone, hence the hotter than other locations. I believe its normal getting that hot. Just browsing websites gets my phone to heat up but I don't have a problem with it. Phone being this thin has to transfer heat somehow and someway. I just wish that the back cover was something other than pastic type of material since plastic isn't great at heat tranfer.

Do you have an external SD card installed by any chance? I had a similar problem and it turned out that a corrupt media file on my external card was causing media scanner to run continuously which was was heating up the phone and draining the battery quickly. Take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331101 . I solved the problem by deleting the file that was causing it and also I used the app Nomedia by Droida to stop media scanner from looking in my videos directory.
Yes I have a 64gb sd card. What I gave to do for this?

Try unmounting and removing the card temporarily. See if you still get high temperatures at idle. If you do then it could be the media scanner finding a corrupt file on the card. If not, then you don't have the same issue as me.

Omega with the T-Mobile KTSGS4 Kernel does work on the i337M. My friend is running that on his S4 without any issues. Its just critical that you are running it with the T-Mobile kernel.

Edit:
Solved
I had on MF8 a strange problem and updated to MGA but my problem is still there.
Everytime i try to do a benchmark my phone just reboots itself.
It only last about 10 sekunds in antutu and in cf-bench before it just reboots.
I have no other problems with my phone or cpu so i have no clue whats going on.
I already searched the net and xda about this but found nothing.
I use the pre rooted and slim MGA rom from this thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
But like i said i had it on MF8 before too.
EDIT: tried quadrant and same happens,i tap full benchmark and it just powers off without any message
Anyone knows how to solve this?
Thanks in advance

Delete the app and install again or
Delete cache or
Delete ram in stock task manager and try again or
Look for the installed app that might give the problem

Its the fault of the root, might brought a wrong code on the system, can be fixed by flashing a new rom, dont forget to backup ur stuff

Have you undervolted CPU?
Could be that when you try to put your phone under too much load it doesn't have enough volts to run benchmark so reboots.

I had it undervolted but long time ago, made since then about 10 factoey resets.
It seems that it has something todo with my battery cause sometimes my phone reboots with 80% battery and starts with 0%
and the other thing is that i have only these problems if not cbarging.

Google just announced a fix for this bug.
Android Central: Google pinpoints Nexus 5 camera/CPU usage bug, fix coming in next Android release. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwzPD-ihI
Hi guys, I bought the phone from someone with this issue. It gets hot very fast when I use it, also when in charge, so much that sometimes I can't touch it. The battery also drains very fast when it's in use. I tried every solution on Google I could find but no luck. It also won't power on without the charger being in even when battery is fully charged. I rooted it now and want to know if I install cyanogenmod Wil maybe resolve this issue? Thanks.

That is strange as the only time my N910C uses allot of power is when I play 3D intensive games on it or use to work on heavy tasks.
Could this be the motherboard that's faulty or something?

I also got my phone second hand from a guy and my phone also gets hot when making intensive tasks. I don't usually play games. But it gets hot when using location(Tinder). Is this related to ROM. I don't think it has to do with the motherboard although you should go and see a service!! Let me know what were your results. Thanks
Yeah, I'd take it to a Samsung Service Center and let them check it out. It could be the battery cable is loose.
So a custom rom won't fix?

I also had the same issue when i first bought my phone 4 month ago but after the latest update the over heat problem is gone. Try to flash the stock rom through odin. Battery problem your facing it could be from the battery calibration try to drain out the battery let drain fully if your phone switched off by itself try to power it on again for many times as possible then charge your phone while it's switched off for 2 hrs power on your phone and charge it again for 30 min hopefully this will resolve the battery calibration issue.

You should try it out. When i a got my SM-N910F, it was a real hot headed one (on Stock 5.0.1).
After flashing a custom rom, the tempratures dropped significantly.
Currently iam running a custom kernel and undervoltet slightly. The Phone is running cool and stable.

Depends. Only in case your problem is software related. In case of an hardware defect, a custom rom won't change anything. You should monitor your GPU and CPU usage of your device. You can use apps like cpu z to measure it. When the clock speed of you CPU is constantly high even with the simplest tasks, you can consider rooting your device, flashing a custom rom/kernel and try to reduce the clock speed. This may help keeping the temperature in check but won't do anything about defective hardware.
But, as you said, this problem persists even with stock firmware (maybe the guy you bought it from flashed the wrong firmware.....) this could only have 3 reasons: 1. defective hardware, 2. defective software/wrong firmware, 3. Some of your apps in the background is going crazy (try to use better battery stats or wakelock detector for that).
Good luck.
Tried to install cyanogenmod but I get error dm vertify verification failed with reboot. I Google it and tried everything but doesn't looked like there's a fix for this. Anyone had similar issue or have a solution for this pls? Thanks.
