It's one of the older updates i guess so the battery life should ideally be an issue and a lot worse than 4.1.1.

The 4.1.2 BTU update for the UK is XXDMB2 , its PDA is N7100XXDMB2, this makes it a bit behind XXDMB4.

Yesterday I just flush back from 4.1.2 --> 4.1.1 because of the battery life. And now we have update, can someone explain to me what is the problem with 4.1.2 that thebbattery lifeits a loot worse then on 4.1.1. Thanks

I would. You might get lower battery life for a while, but this has the SDS fix in it as far as I know, and I'd MUCH rather be protected from my device turning into a paperweight than just running low on juice...
And sure, I could use a custom ROM, but I happen to like the stock ones. Serves all my needs perfectly.

Some guys attribute the increased battery use to the media scanner which runs randomly and drains the battery life
Also i believe that the screen brightness at max setting had been increased to like 300% of what it was in 4.1.1

The 4.1.1 ROM's have a critical bug that can cause your device to randomly just die, for no apparent reason, and it's not fixable once it happens. You'd have to return it to Samsung. This is the SDS bug, Sudden Death Syndrome.
The 4.1.2 ROM's have a fix for this, as do pretty much all the custom ROM's as well.
Personally, I'd much rather have reduced battery life and relief from the worry that my device could just randomly die.

Can you please post the modem version to this update.

Thanks for the info, i'm certain that is what happened to my phone. I was on 4.1.1 stock uk rom. Its been fixed by samsung now, just waiting for it to be sent back, they said they replaced system board. Be interesting to see if they have updated to 4.1.2 for me.

soon after the update through odin i just used it for 5 mins and it started getting hot, ter wasnt any problem in previous firmware....anyone having same problem?

yes it is getting hot during charging too. this was not there in previous firmware...

The very reason I'm always going back to MEA, after each tried with new released fw.
I don't know anymore if Samsung's fixing something with every new fw...or just [email protected] with us.

Np problems here.

I'm on the latest mga firmware and it certainly seems to get hot much quicker.. Never use to notice it before other than playing games but now even in general usage it's noticeable.

I was hoping you weren't gonna say that (about the battery) the change list is substantially different to the other 4.2.2 firmwares, I thought they may have addressed that issue.

I m from india and I m going to buy it in few days so I just wanted to know whether indian version of note 8.0 ( note 510)(N5100) has a 30 pin connector or micro usb because I saw some reviews on youtube and some has 30 pin connector and some had micro usb port so I m really confused which one it has ???
Edit got the answer for 2) question went to samsung store near my house and saw the tablet it has micro usb

Updated yesterday. Battery draining is normal in my opinion. Phone feels a little snappy now. However had to factory reset as some of my previously installed apps crashed due to changes in internal storage identification.

Apart from the new bloatware and the loss of root access, I have absolutely nothing to complain about.
I love the new 4.2.2 update.

The s pen is better now. .it was horrible in the german firmware
Battery seems to be the normal usual. . No excess drain

That's interesting, how long were you using the German version before you were aware of the drain? And did you flash this one in the same way, mobile Odin with no wipe etc...
As I did wonder whether doing a clean slate flash and wipe would have helped matters with the German variant. I might give this one go if the vibes are positive.

The battery on the German version was also not different...I was just responding to the queries above....flashed the German rom the day it came out
...I flashed both the roms using PC odin..Didn't root my note 8 yet...Didn't really feel the need. ...But funnily on either rom can't get to wipe cache...getting error..so no manual wipe,..But believe PC odin does wipe cache
But running omega rom on my note 2

Cool. Great to see someone on Three needing the same flashing requirements as me.
Any good so far ?

I toyed switching to H3G firmware, but decided against it (for now at least) - I was on BTU - Just switched ROMs to Crash rom with MK2 battery is pretty stable tbh better than when I originally got the phone. Everything is far smoother also, not sure I can go back to stock lol

I have MK2 since last night and it consumed only 2% battery till morning. So it is good till now.

How is your wakelock status? - Phone went into deep sleep without any issues then?

I don't know what app to use to see that. But what apps I have do not show something keeping the phone awake. And 2% over night is good I say.

Although I am also on the three network, I bought my note 3 from expansys and it was unlocked, so I went for the update via kies 3 which now gives me JSS15J.N9005XXUDMK2
The only change I can see is my network mode now shows LTE/WCDMA/GSM selected by default, no LTE there before update, battery seems slightly better maybe?

Oh interesting, LTE added now. I wondered when Three were gonna issue the LTE update with software.

It won't actually work on the LTE frequencies though, until they turn on the LTE towers, I read on their website rollout will start round about now in certain areas of the country, with more and more being added to the "LTE Enable Area" list next year

Yeah supposed to be live here (York) in January, Was wondering how they were gonna apply the update to enable LTE via (Unbranded) Phones not purchased through Three directly.

I'd have assumed that if it was available on your tariff, it would have just worked, whether the option to choose that band was in mobile options or not, as my mate picked his up unbranded N3 and he got LTE straight out the box as it's enable on his 4G account, admittedly I didn't check what version came on his phone before he ran the OTA, but it wasn't this latest one.
Us lot with unbranded phones and on Three, should see it just work and kick in, once we're in an enabled area, as they are activating 4G for everyone, no nasty price increases.or download limits imposed.... happy days

Downloaded this tonight, haven't had the change to comment on battery life but one thing it does seem to have fixed is the issue I was having wit the camera in low light, the interference with wifi on seems to have disappeared now...no horizontal lines on screen

I'm on a vodafone uk debranded & sim unlocked note 3. Currently trying out three. My modem is mj4 (ap is mj7 btu).
Are you noticing any improvements with mj7 modem that comes with this mk2 release?

Awful battery since 4.2.2 update

Hey guys.
Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I've got to find out if it's just me!
Updated about 2 weeks ago to 4.2.2 via OTA and my battery life has dropped drastically.
The one thing I've always loved about the note series is the massive battery and the note 3 didn't disappoint until recently.
The phone used to last anything upto 20 hours with fair usage but since the update I get no longer than about 3-4 hours!
I'm not rooted and I've even performed a factory reset on my device and not installed any apps.
I've even turned cellular data off and left the phone in my pocket without even unlocking it yet still only 2 - 3 hours life.
Anyone else having the same issue or know of any solution?
I appreciate that downgrading back to 4.2.2 isn't possible but surely there must be something else I can do?
any help is appreciated.

Are you serious, from 20 hour to 3-4 hours? That is very strange. I am still on 4.3 but waiting for 4.4.2 for my region, what region version are you using?

Im having the very same problem. There are various posts on the net about it on various forums but there seems to be no definitive fix. Very Odd because it definately is affecting a large number of people - but here on xda - dev there dont seem to be too many?
