Sorry if this has been covered but in a huge rush at work. Im getting the 32gb S4 tonight and swapping my 16gb S4. Is there a way for me to backup my TW home screens like you can do on Nova? have not setup nova on this so wasnt sure if the TW setup would carry over so i could save that way.
Thanks in advance.
I know Nova has an Import function. Never tried it though--
You could try MyBackUpPro or the unpaid version and see if it works
May be other free bu apps also
Haven't gotton the s4 yet so not sure what TW backs up if anything
Google that part of question

I had downloaded titanium back up several times but never understood what it did. I finally just realized how it works and how to use it. I will never go without it again.

TB is amazing, I gladly paid for the full version of it. Between it, Gmail, and Dropbox, everything valuable on my phone is always backed up.
Also being able to remove any unwanted stock programs is a plus.
sounds like the story of xda, I'm not saying you have asked what it did on here before BUT if you did I am sure you got flamed which is crap. Congrats, fantastic program! And very much worth the money!
Get the pro version. Definitely worth it.

I find TiBu to be a lifesaver when I'm playing around with custom ROM's. That combined with Apex Launcher's backup abilities makes it so that I can basically switch ROM's and restore my apps and home screen to the same appearance I had before.
Hi there,
I am on the beginning of my andriod journey from Apple and have pre-ordered a note 3 here in Australia :victory:
I am looking to ? Flash my N3 and install a custom ROM, as I hate the stock look of the N3.
My question is, do I loose the stock apps that use the S pen etc when I install the ROM?
Also is it possible to have the Moto X handsfree 'ok google now' feature on the N3?
Thanks!
Edit: so it seems that you don't loose the apps and functionality of the S pen. Although am I able to uninstall a single app, sayyy S fitness or whatever it's called?

Hi
Why do you hate the stock look? You can install new launchers which replace the home screen and app drawer.
You can flash a custom rom that is based on stock android which has the base look and this can be themed.
If you flash a samsung based rom you will keep the apps, otherwise you lose the samsung apps.
You can use Titanium Backup after rooting to remove or freeze samsung apps to remove bloatware.
Yes they have the feature for "ok google" but it is a bit different.

Thank for the reply.
I don't know why I hate the stock look, but it just doesn't seem blended, almost as if things are out of place... I just get feeling that the icons are just thrown onto the page with no real shape or design. I have seem some customs ones which really look nice.
Would you be able to point me in the right direction for a link that explain the "ok google" feature you spoke of? Does it work the same way the Moto X works? Ie screen is asleep and listens for a command?
Thanks
I must admit that I have always been a "use whatever skin came with the phone" type of guy going all the way back to 1.6, however I curiously installed the Google Now Launcher tonight and boy the Note Pro seems as if it were on steroids!!! Now I understand what people mean when they say Touchwiz is resource hog. Don't get me wrong, I'm probably considered to be one of Touchwiz's biggest fans, but..............
Good night

Can you post the Google Play Store link for the Google Now Launcher? The only one I can find says my device is not supported.

Thanks bud.
The launcher at this moment is native only to the Nexus line and Google Play Edition devices, although the APK can be side loaded without any issues on our devices. I'm even running it on my GN3 and quite frankly I'm loving it and plan on sticking with it until it's finally supported for my devices natively.
Do a quick search for "Google Now Launcher" and you shouldn't have a problem picking up the file. Once you download it on your Pro just click install and you'll have it in less than 5 seconds.
A quick report for those who may want to install it. I have not ran into one issue since the install. No crashes, no force closes(Beat cha Watch On!!). There are reports of users with different devices reporting issues, which caused me concerns prior to my install. I'm happy to say it's as though this launcher was built for the Note Pro.
If you need additional info don't hesitate to PL me.

Frankly, in just the few minutes i've been playing with it, i'm LOVING IT! Like the OP, i've also been a "use whatever skin came with the phone" kinda guy. When I was using my Nexus 5, i've gotten use to the launcher. I love the simplicity of the experience. My only gripe, if any, there is none of the native TW widgets (example: Action Memo) that uses the S Pen naively.

I'm assuming when you said GN3 you mean your Galaxy Note 3? I been trying to also side load it on my Note 3, however i'm getting a parsing error. Thinking it was a corrupt download, i re-downloaded it, but still getting the parsing error.
True...touchwiz widgets takes a back seat to the "Google Experience", but all of Samsung's SPen and Multi Window features are fully intact. That was my only fear after installing was that it would break some of the features that enticed me to purchase the Note Pro. Happily everything works as it did out the box.
Our fellow brothers on the Note 10.1-2014 side are reporting excellent results as well.

Correct I was referring to the Galaxy Note 3, and yes you are correct if you attempt to use the same APK on your Note 3 as I did initially, you will receive the parsing error message.
I ended up finding a older APK released on the net back in December and installed it and it automatically updated to the latest GNL after the install. I'm on my phone now and I have the files uploaded to dropbox, and will happily share if you like....just PM me.

I didn't intentionally leave the GN3 info on purpose, I just didn't want to violate rules by centering the topic on the GN3 in the Note Pro forum...I've always been a rule follower since my military days...he he he?

I tried the Google Launcher but found it to be somewhat too limited. I personally didn't like the lack of options and inability to change the grid size to make better use of the Note Pro screen.
But in many ways anything is better than TouchWiz.
I still recommend Nova Launcher the most. You can adjust everything exactly to the look/feel you prefer. It's also leaner and faster than anything else I've tried when set to "faster than light" settings.

Thankfully, no alternate launcher should affect the S-Pen and Multi-window features.
Hi All
I have a Note 3 SM-N9005, I live in NZ and it works on the Vodafone NZ network here using my SIM card (don't know if these details are important or not).
Basically I've been having issues with it mainly in regards to sluggishness, especially when dialling, for example if I touch a contact and then touch "call" it will sometimes take up to 30 seconds or so to initiate the dialling.
So I was thinking about going down the root/rom route. I have never ever done this before so I'm a complete noob.
So I'm after a easy to install/use ROM, basically I would love to keep all the S-Pen features, and a few of the Samsung apps (mainly IR Remote (watchon), S-Note, etc). I also currently use Nova Launcher which is awesome for the screen realestate (customizing icons grid, widget sizes, padding etc). I also use the following widgets extensively:
Calendar Month view (I used to use S-Planner month view widget, but that no longer worked with Nova, so found another month view one)
HD Widgets (Weather/Clock)
DashClock (the lock screen widget thing)
Lock Screen Widget
Youtube Widget
System Monitor (a bunch of widgets showing CPU, RAM, Battery, Storage etc)
Onavo Count (showing internet usage)
Would like to keep all these as well.
I don't know if you guys need all this info, but yeah, let me know if you need any more info.
Cheers
OK so you want to keep TouchWiz based ROMs aka Samsung bases. There are plenty in the dev section. It really depends on what you want to customise and do tbh.
Alliance, Crash, civatos ROM, sweetRom etc, there's plenty more too. It's trial and error as to which you prefer/like - I personally used Alliance ROM from the start as soon as it was released, but again it's personal preference.

So all of those keep all the same features of the Note 3? I've noticed a few S5 roms, one even said "the best of S5 but with a s-pen" would these keep the S-Pen features or no?
Do Roms come with their own launchers? Or can I still use Nova?
Also is there a rooting/rom installing guide here on the forums somewhere for the Note 3?

Not 100% sure about the S5 ROMS. yeah they all have launchers but you can install NOVA and use as normal. In regards to root, if you have a custom recovery you can just flash SuperSU.zip but most custom ROMs are pre-rooted already.

Haha you've lost me already, I was under the impression I need to root my phone to install a custom ROM? I have no idea what custom recovery is for example. Need to find some guides on this I think.
Good cause I paid for Nova and quite like it.
Ah OK so you have a bit of reading to do.
I'll briefly sum it up for you.
Using ODIN, flash a recovery image aka TWRP. (make sure you have the right version) you don't need root to flash a custom recovery. Then you can download a ROM to your device and flash it.
But first, go to the general section in this forum of the Note 3, read the stickies regarding root, custom recovery and what events can and do indeed happen and most importantly if you make a boo-boo how to fix it.
Reading is the best advice I can give you, in fact its the best advice you'll receive from anyone in this forum.
Spend a few days, if not longer familiarising yourself with how the whole root/custom recovery process works and then IF you feel confident, go ahead and try it. Or simply post and ask for advice/help.

Hi guys bought a S5 outright in Australia and wondering what Samsung apps (if possible) can be disabled?
I want to try lower the amount of ram being used and stop apps that i have already hidden via installing Nova Launcher.
Thanks
You may need to post a full list of apps so that people can help.
I personally also turned off some pre-installed apps.

Try XtreStoLite Rom. This one will be best for you.
