Thanks bud.
The launcher at this moment is native only to the Nexus line and Google Play Edition devices, although the APK can be side loaded without any issues on our devices. I'm even running it on my GN3 and quite frankly I'm loving it and plan on sticking with it until it's finally supported for my devices natively.
Do a quick search for "Google Now Launcher" and you shouldn't have a problem picking up the file. Once you download it on your Pro just click install and you'll have it in less than 5 seconds.
A quick report for those who may want to install it. I have not ran into one issue since the install. No crashes, no force closes(Beat cha Watch On!!). There are reports of users with different devices reporting issues, which caused me concerns prior to my install. I'm happy to say it's as though this launcher was built for the Note Pro.
If you need additional info don't hesitate to PL me.

Frankly, in just the few minutes i've been playing with it, i'm LOVING IT! Like the OP, i've also been a "use whatever skin came with the phone" kinda guy. When I was using my Nexus 5, i've gotten use to the launcher. I love the simplicity of the experience. My only gripe, if any, there is none of the native TW widgets (example: Action Memo) that uses the S Pen naively.

I'm assuming when you said GN3 you mean your Galaxy Note 3? I been trying to also side load it on my Note 3, however i'm getting a parsing error. Thinking it was a corrupt download, i re-downloaded it, but still getting the parsing error.
True...touchwiz widgets takes a back seat to the "Google Experience", but all of Samsung's SPen and Multi Window features are fully intact. That was my only fear after installing was that it would break some of the features that enticed me to purchase the Note Pro. Happily everything works as it did out the box.
Our fellow brothers on the Note 10.1-2014 side are reporting excellent results as well.

Correct I was referring to the Galaxy Note 3, and yes you are correct if you attempt to use the same APK on your Note 3 as I did initially, you will receive the parsing error message.
I ended up finding a older APK released on the net back in December and installed it and it automatically updated to the latest GNL after the install. I'm on my phone now and I have the files uploaded to dropbox, and will happily share if you like....just PM me.

I didn't intentionally leave the GN3 info on purpose, I just didn't want to violate rules by centering the topic on the GN3 in the Note Pro forum...I've always been a rule follower since my military days...he he he?

I tried the Google Launcher but found it to be somewhat too limited. I personally didn't like the lack of options and inability to change the grid size to make better use of the Note Pro screen.
But in many ways anything is better than TouchWiz.
I still recommend Nova Launcher the most. You can adjust everything exactly to the look/feel you prefer. It's also leaner and faster than anything else I've tried when set to "faster than light" settings.

Thankfully, no alternate launcher should affect the S-Pen and Multi-window features.

I currently have the wi-fi Note 8.0 and love it. I would like to get the AT&T model but is it rooted yet and does the multi-window option work? Finally is the AT&T note stuff here or is there another area to look for? Hopefully these questions don't sound to dumb.

Rooted Yet - No
MultiWindow - Yes
This is it for AT&T Note 8 LTE SGH-I467
I'm sure that it will be rooted soon. (I Hope). I got one a week ago and love it. I only want root so I can install Titanium Backup. Custom Roms are nice, but I just want to be able to debloat and have a good backup
since this is a question, you should have posted it in Q&A....

I agree, I should have caught that.
The AT&T model is not rooted yet. The multiwindow feature works great. There is no specific forum for the AT&T model so we discuss it here. I highly recommend picking it up if you can. I'm absolutely in love with mine. It'll be even more awesome once they get it upgraded to Android 4.2.
I too purchased the AT&T Note 8. On the morning it became available actually. I too love the Note 8 and highly recommend it. Especially so with the bundle deal that brings the price down to $199.
That said I have found a few issues that are in need of fixing. Firstly, of course, is the ability to root so one can use Titanium Backup to debloat. But also many have found that the screen freezes momentarily randomly. If you want to use it to play games you will be disappointed. Also, every time you power up (boot up) the current version of the software resets all factory defaults so that 3rd. party keyboards for example are deselected and you have to manually select them as default. I personally have also found that the Samsung calendar as well as google calendar doesn't automatically sync with your Samsung and/or your Google accounts, you have to do this manually as well.
these are all reasons that I bought the wifi version; we already have root, there are custom roms/kernels, custom recovery, and since there is wifi almost everywhere, and where there isn't, I can tether to my Note2, I didnt see any reason to give ATT another dime of my $$$$
hope you guys get root/custom recovery soon, because a tweaked, debloated,OC'd Note 8.0 is nothing but fun!

I hear you. However, some of us who were buying new phones anyway the AT&T bundle deal pricing of $199 for the Note 8 as opposed to the $499 retail made sense. Yes, I would liked to have root already but I will live with the wait in light of the initial cost savings. Now when can I get a Note 3????
not sure where you heard the wifi was 499; I got mine for 350 at Best buy, and I think there are places selling at 325...
but yeah, 199 is a nice price....
Note 3 is a ways away, i think!
I'm sure you'll have root soon; maybe send a pm to Chainfire, and see if he is working on it yet...

I also find that Chrome has problems. I don't know if it's a Chrome issue or a ROM issue but Chrome seems to not get click placement right when tapping on the screen, especially when using the pen. You have to tap below a link to get it to actually fire. Very annoying. Even with the brand new Chrome 28 release a day ago, it still does this. I'm using the stock browser until this gets resolved.

Is almost certainly a Chrome issue. Chrome 26 works fine. The problem was introduced in Chrome 27. I'm sure it'll get fixed eventually. In the meantime I'm just using the stock browser. I didn't see it as a big enough issue to do something drastic like taking it back.

Last night's update of Chrome Beta (their second patch for this issue) fixed the problem for me. It will likely be a number of weeks before the patch makes it to the stable Chrome release.

Okay, I thought I was either drunk or crazy. I swore Chrome was registering wrong clicks and it would eventually just stop with the input all together. What a terrible bug - I too was forced to use the stock browser. Glad it's fixed in the latest release. Let's hope that makes it into the Play store sooner rather than later.

Just wondering if you all are going to flash CM when they make it or another AOSP?
I know it will come soon especially since the Nexus 5 will have similar specs as with the 9005

I've owned Android since the good old days of the Google G1.
I don't think I've seen 1 version of CM that ran perfectly, no ROM was ever 'finished'.... so I'll be staying away from them from now on.
I'm actually probably NOT going to root my Note 3, can't see what I need to root it for tbh.

My first was the original galaxy i7500 but my cm experience was on the milestone 2 then g2x.
I really like cm when a device is no longer supported by their respective companies.
When I had the nexus 4, I used the latest cm 10.2 nightlies because to me the stock AOSP was lacking a few functions.
The note 3 has its own set of functions that I don't think we will ever see on CM.
However, would be very nice to have a dual booting system so I could flip flop between the two.

If the s4 has it, I am sure the note 3 900 will get it too.
One the biggest reasons for getting the 9005 was because I wanted to stick with a SOC that is easier for devs to work with.
Especially about a year from now when Sammy releases the note 5 and forgets about the note 3, we can at least update to the latest Android with CM

I usually run Paranoid Android on all my devices, but my experience with stock/rooted Note 3 so far has been fantastic, so I'm probably just going to run with things as is for the time being. Once PA releases I'll probably have to reevaluate though ;p

I kinda feel the same, I bought a few apps recently because it's not rooted. and these apps I'm happy to support because I use them on a daily baisis, like business calendar, poweramp, mx player etc. but I do find root useful for ntfs micro sdcard, especially when a file is bigger than 10GBs.
but what I really liked about a custom rom was editing minor things, having 8 icons along the screen horizontally. instead of what right now, 4? also all apps are HUGE dpi. I feel like when I load my mail. every mother fcker can read it from 5 metres away from me lol..
Ill Probably try it but wont stay with it. Lately on my s4 ive been preferring modded TW roms and will probably continue that with the N3

Not Cyano itself, but I'm waiting for an AOSP derivate, SlimBean.
I don't want to even see Samsung's bloatware ever again.
I'm done with rooting and adding ROMs. I've rooted just about every phone I've owned, and they've never ran 100%. Something always had an issue and not running properly. Today's phone are almost perfect anyway. The Note 3 is bad ass just the way it is! If I do anything to it, it's maybe using Themer to give it a fresh look, but that's it?

I have been pretty impressed with the performance of the GN3 even after rooting. I am also using the s-pen functionality a lot more than i anticipated. I doubt there is any need to go the CM route.
A little off point, but someone mentioned they hadnt rooted yet. I had gone a week without rooting and was fine, but i had to root for tethering (havent installed an app yet though). So far, i have also included quite a bit of additional apps for the Pen Window - VERY handy.
I just need a ROM that will allow tethering.

I hope this has not been discussed and it's not a dumb question.
I just got my first android phone which is the note3. Ex-apple fanboy and man am I glad I switched!
Dont think I can ever go back to my iphone ever again.
That said, I cant seem to figure out one feature. Is there a way to create keyboard shortcuts? Ie - type omw and the phone will convert that to on my way?
I have looked online and all over in the phone and this is driving me insane!
Thanks again!

I don't actually know if there is a keyboard out there that supports it. SwiftKey doesn't and the Samsung stock doesn't either. Smart keyboard might have this feature, you can try search for it in the playstore. But if it's not that important to you, then I'd suggest to try SwiftKey instead. It's a killer keyboard and I bet it will blow your mind if you're used to Apple's keyboard

The Note 3 does not have screen recording. It is not limited to hardware though, so it is possible in the future. Screen recording is built in with Android 4.4 and above, so you might see the feature in the upcoming 4.4 update for Note 3. However, it will probably not arrive until January sometime is my guess. It's also worth noting that especially Samsung is known for removing some of Androids core features and add some of their own. Therefore it's not sure that we will get screen recording with 4.4 for Note 3. With that being said, you can download an application that offers screen recording, however that require your phone rooted. Keep in mind that rooting will possibly break your warranty.

Despite the reputation that xda has for people who know what they're talking about there's still you. Research would imply that there is information elsewhere that:
A. I care about.
B. exists.
4.4 for Nexus 7 2013 is a few hours old. I already said I don't care about speculation. Stop being an ass. The first thing I did was google this and when nothing was found I started a post. Did you do any research before you posted that link? Read the first four pages of results. Read the first 100 pages of results. There's no links to statements from google or any developer anywhere that has looked into anything. Instead there's a bunch of people who all regurgitate information, whether cited or not from The Verge, who also don't cite a source. They just say vaguely that Google told them. Right... because Google talks to The Verge and The Verge exclusively.
Let me change the question for you. Don't answer it. It's clear you're just a moron. This is for somebody else.
Is there really a hardware reason to exclude the Google Experience Launcher? Does anybody know if GEL really uses anything from the 800 or is Google just running a trial on the N5 users?
In addition, has anybody seen whether or not somebody has tried to take the apk from a Nexus 5 and run it on a Nexus 7?

In addition, has anybody seen whether or not somebody has tried to take the apk from a Nexus 5 and run it on a Nexus 7?

Those first builds of 4.4 that came around when the Nexus 5 was launched actually had the whole GEL. the only problem was the keyboard would pop up when you went back to the homescreen, but other than that, it was working fine, so the only reason I can see as to why they would have left it out of the tablet would be to give the Nexus 5 some more bullet points on its feature list than other products out there.

Interesting. So... chances are we'll have a unofficial version floating around in no-time. Did you have any hands on with those first builds? Did the always on functionality seem to impact battery life adversely? Thanks in advance!

Where is it for Nexus 7 2013? Will it be in the factory build? Is it going to be available for download separately from the store?
I find it odd that with all of the push to eliminate fragmentation it's not included.

I find it very troubling too. Especially when we didn't get the new look either. Nothing a little Nova Beta can't fix!

I didn't take any time to tear into the build and tinker with it, but if there was any battery impact, it was too small to notice. I was still getting days of use. Even though the keyboard thing wasn't fixed in that build, maybe now that official builds are out and about, it can be fixed and sideloaded. I mean, all it was was a install of Google Play Services, the Launcher and the latest Google Search. Hopefully it won't be too hard to package those up and have them working soon.

There's already unofficial builds running around. I'm running it on my N7 with 4.4 right now. Still has the keyboard bug though.
All I had to do was install the launcher APK from Android Police and boom, GEL.

Thank you for the information. Sounds like I should wait a few days and check back in.

As far as aesthetics go, no, changing the color of the notification bar text and icons wasn't enough. At all. Considering we didn't get the transparent notification bar or the new app drawer icon. I'm getting my fix of those two with Nova Beta though. Gets me all of those things, plus it's pretty stable.

Yeah I was more being sarcastic. Even though I was more looking forward to just having a bit more stability in everything I use the tablet for, I can't say I wasn't a little bit disappointed not having a very obvious "New Update Day!" feature to have fun with. And if Action Launcher wasn't the most overpowered launcher out there, I might use Nova. I just can't get over that Quick Panel. its too useful

Stopped by the ATT store yesterday afternoon and got so close to pulling the trigger. Then I remembered that for ~$150 less, I was able to get the 64GB SM-P900 model with the free keyboard offer from Best Buy.
I personally like the idea of being able to use my tablet on the go, but $899 for this 32GB LTE model seems rather steep.
Regardless, I'm still on the edge of picking up this ATT variant and was curious if anyone had done so already or considering the same.
I'm definitely all ears on the pros and cons and would also like to get some feedback with regards to performance, battery life, and firmware updates. I figure that real world performance is negligible between the wifi and lte model, but would like to hear from those that got to use both models.
Thanks in advance.

I read in another thread that the keyboard deal ended May 29th. I'm curious about the AT&T one myself.

I've seen at least one person that's picked up the AT&T model and hoping to hear from him on his experience.

I picked my AT&T note pro the day it was released (last Friday), and so far I absolutely love it. I have had the Note 10.1 for quiet some time and was a little skeptical about spending $900 just to upgrade. But after just a few days with it I am very glad I "pulled the trigger". The screen resolution is amazing, even compared to the Note 10.1 The speed seems a lot quicker as well, even without root and debloating. As far as battery life I getting around 10-12 hrs of screen time, that's a combination of WiFi and LTE. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the feedback on your experience with the AT&T model of this beast of a tab. I actually picked up the US 64GB version of the P900 use it with a mobile hotspot device and it's been working well for me so far. Still, I'd much rathet not carry around a mobile hotspot just to get online. I just wished they released a 64GB LTE model.

I'm doing the same only with a 32gb model. Choice for me came down to root, at which point it was a no-brainer . . wifi version had it, US carrier versions didn't and I didn't want to risk slower development times for them.
From the looks of it there isn't much development for the wifi version either.

True, to be honest though with root I've already done enough to my tablet to not worry about custom ROM's for now. Still hoping for a slimmer rom to be developed but I probably won't jump on it right away.

What have you done to your note since rooting? This is the first device I've owned that doesn't have any ROMs available. Not sure what do with it when I take it out of the box...usually it's a quick dead pixel check, then goodbye stock.
Looking forward to this device and xda community!
Got overnight shipping on my Note Pro, can't wait to get it tomorrow

Currently running Pie Controls and GMD Gesture Control to assist in application switching and other quick shortcuts. Not sure if I'll keep both I'm relying on Pie Controls more.
With Titanium Backup I've frozen a bunch of applications including Allshare, ANT applications (3 of them), samsung's backup app, Blurb Checkout, Business Week, Cisco Webex, E-Meeting, ELM Agent, Facebook (I use the web page), FWUpgrade, Gallery (I use Gallery KK), Play Newstand, KLMS Agent, Magazine Widget, Music (I use Google Play Music), My Magazine (I use Nova Launcher, the stock launcher sucks), Netflix, NY Times, Pagebuddy Service, Remote Controls and Remote PC app, Samsung Push Service, Scrapbook (no intention of using it), SideSync (dont have other samsung phones), Software Update, Weather and Briefing.
Freezing those applications keeps them from loading even as cached apps freeing up space in RAM to cache other apps that i frequently use.
In addition I uninstalled all Knox related apps.
For other mods I'm using Xposed Installer to do things like per application DPI settings to render things in smaller fonts, block ads, disable nag screens (location consent, modify share menus, modify complete action windows etc.), control what starts at boot (boot manager) as well as a few other tweaks.

So far two of us have tired the towelroot in the other thread on the P900 with no success. It seems to be working though on the P905.

It seems to have literally just failed to do anything for me. No root, no trigger, it's like I never ran it.
Towel root Def works... I used it, the issue I had was with super user... don't download it from the playstore. Geohot is the man
Any tips on rooting the SM-P907A with Android 5.1.1?

Also hoping for this.
No custom ROMs and no root for Lollipop on the 907A... I ended up going back to KitKat so I could have root and Xposed.
