Whenever a get a new voicemail I never get a notification in my status bar on stock or any custom rom. I only get a text message saying new voicemail. Do I need to set something up besides my voicemail number or is this a Fido issue?
I think you have to press the call button-setting-voicemail and then input your voicemail number.
After that you should be notified in your notification center.

Actually I do have a voicemail number in there.
Update: I just found out it is a Fido issue. You must have Visual voicemail plus with them otherwise you just get a text message

If so have you got it to work on your phone, I set it up as I did on my Tilt 2 and all seemed fine...
So today I get a voicemail and I dial my You Mail number and it says I have no messages
So I then call my number to be brought to the att voicemail box and my message is waiting in here
Any insight would help
Mine isnt having issues. Just tried it to be sure. Sounds like for some reason your att mailbox is in use now. Try resetting up youmail maybe?
I'm having the same problem
I set up YouMail but all my voicemails are still going to my old voicemail box. When I first installed it, it seemed to work fine and it downloaded some messages. But now all new messages go to the old voicemail box. Do anybody have any ideas?
i stumbled across (you mail) last night, got excited installed it, went to register and of course gotta have a US number for it to work. yet again Canadians no go.
EDIT: sorry for the rant. it has nothing to do with your questions, just saw the post and decided to reply.
I had to change the numbers in the call forwarding section of the phone settings. Did the same in the voicemail settings. Now when I push and hold "1" it dials YouMail.

This did not work I got
Call forwarding
Connection problem or invalid MMI code
You'll need to set it manually go to settings -> call settings -> call forwarding
You'll change: when busy, unanswered, unreachable
Use the number +17142043114

it's crazy... mine works, but i never set it up. i was using it on my iPhone 4, then started using the wp7 for a little bit and it was going to youmail. then i switched to my atrix and it continues to work w/o having to set it up again.
i'm guessing the quick code above changed my deposit number in at&t's system.
for the record: i did set it up on my i4, but haven't had to on any phone after.
Unless your call forwarding gets changed it should keep working.

Is anyone else on AT&T's prepaid (GoPhone) getting a message "Conditional Call Forwarding Active" every single time a call is dialed out? I don't get the message for incoming calls. I researched and found some people experienced the same issue on other devices as they had not set their voicemail. I have my voicemail set up and all settings (as far as I can tell) are for AT&T's network. I got the message on stock GB and now I get the same message ICS LPY ROM. What's causing that message and how can I fix it?
Am I the only one experiencing this?

Nope your not the only one have the same message... although I think its carrier dependent as I get it on all my phones
Don't worry about the message, it's just highlighting that you have set your voicemail with certain conditions i.e. when busy, unavailable etc
If you cancel your voicemail settings, you should find that the message disappears.
It's normal...

I am not worried but it just seems it can be fixed, and I don't know how. I tried disabling the conditions but it doesn't allow me to make any changes. If anyone has any other ideas about fixing this issue, please share them.

Goto settings, Call, Call forwarding, Voice call and check to see if all options are showing disabled, if not, you will get that message.

As I said, I can't disable them - it doesn't allow me to and is restricted by the carrier.
Also, I read somewhere that disabling those settings will not forward your calls to your voicemail.

Did not know that carriers have restricted it on some networks, I'm in the UK on t mobile and can disable any of those options.
Disabling the settings will definitely stop the messaging as well as forwarding calls to your voicemail. The whole point of the message is to let you know that you have active diverts i.e. voicemail setup. Have not seen any option anywhere where you can disable the message.
thanks a lot, i have the same problem it now solved , i follow your advice setting-->call setting-->call forwarding-->the last option was enable i make it disable (Forward when unreach)
Hey guys, I'm trying to get some support on setting up voicemail on the Nexus 4 for T-Mobile. I've been doing a couple of hours of research and haven't run across anything substantial. If anyone can help me that would be awesome!
Also note: I also tried downloading T-Mobile's voicemail app and it wouldn't set up properly. The app would say it couldn't setup properly at the time.

Never tried T Mobile Voice mail. I just have everything forwarded over to my Google Voice which provides Voice mail. That's always an alternative if you can't get the T Mobile one working.

Did you hold down 1 in the dial pad? It should take you directly to your voicemail or have you configure it. It worked that way for me when I was on contract and still works the same using prepaid.

I sure did. It then says, "You've reached the voicemail system. If you have a mailbox on this system, press star...". I proceeded with star and entered my phone number and it says it's "invalid". Lost in terms of why it's asking that. I'm used to the general - setup your mailbox prompt. Some reason, it doesn't exist here.
T-Mobile visual voicemail app works for me. If you're on WiFi, turn it OFF during the initialization. Once you're all setup, you'll be good to go.

I didn't have any problems with my voicemail. I've had T-Mobile for a while and all I did was get a new sim card and had it activated and my voicemail was working with no problems at all with my Nexus. Also I found this from T-Mobile support...
"To access the voicemail main menu, follow these steps:
Note: Make sure you are not roaming when attempting to set up voicemail for the first time.
1.Dial 123 or hold down the 1 key
2.Press Send.
3.Enter the last 4 digits of your mobile number as your voicemail password.
4.Follow the tutorial to set up your voicemail password and greeting.
Note:
•If you decline to set up the voicemail password and/or greeting, the tutorial plays each time until you set up both the password and greeting. Therefore, it is optimal to activate both features during initial setup."
Also if that doesn't work try calling your cell number from your land line and hit * when you get your voicemail if it lets you.
Are calls to T-Mobile voicemail count toward 100 minutes($30 plan) limit?

I appreciate your help! I definitely thought the same. After contacting T-MO, they said that the feature has been turned off. I have no clue how this has happened when the only change has been me ordering a micro-sim and activating it.. Weird! But all is well..
Again, I truly appreciate your guy's help! You are awesome..
Re: Straight Talk (T-Mobile and Google Voice) voicemail issue
All,
For those who are on ST using a T-Mobile SIM and Google Voice, how exactly did you get it disabled? I see plenty of references to AT&T in here (those lucky ones who can do forwarding) but not T-Mobile.
My issue is the gal says she can only reset it, which disables it so my Google Voice works but then I immediately get a permanent "new voicemail" notification until I set it up and then check voicemails (and there isn't anything so I think its just a default prompt to get you to setup voicemail). Of course when I do that it enables the voicemail and breaks google voice.
I really need help either getting it disabled properly or at the very least clearing that notification without setting up the voicemail box but the lady on the other end doesnt know how.
Just don't give people your Tmobile phone number. If everyone calls you on your GV number, only GV voicemail will pick up.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I think you're mixing up info from different threads.
You probably read about being able to permanently disable voice mail on tmobile, on the $30 Walmart/ tmobile thread. I don't think that option is available to straight talk.
Thanks, I could swear someone had mentioned doing the same thing for ST but I guess not. I did have her reset it so the box is invalid, if you call in it asks you to set it up. I just cleared the data for the phone app and that got rid of the notification.

Try rejecting the call with the power button instead of the onscreen swipe, that's a known issue with some Tmobile plans. It might work on ST as well.

I've been trying since the S2 to find a way for the voicemail button in the stock dialer to either call the voicemail number or to open Google voice... I have never used the sprint voicemail apk, and find it bothersome when I accidentally click the button.
I've see a similar thread for the HTC one and them modding the dialer apk... But i dont know where to begin

I would like to know this too. I use google voice for voicemail as well. This would be a nice option!
Yeah me too, i figure it has to be possible because if you freeze the stock voicemail and you click the button It force closes... Meaning that it is pretty much like a shortcut to open the app... If we could change code or something to have it open Google voice would be AMAZING

The easiest thing to do is in your Google Voice preference check the "Voicemail Display" option. It will show your google voice voicemails in the call log, and you can just click to play them.
