Anyone here use You Mail on their Atrix? - Atrix 4G General

If so have you got it to work on your phone, I set it up as I did on my Tilt 2 and all seemed fine...
So today I get a voicemail and I dial my You Mail number and it says I have no messages
So I then call my number to be brought to the att voicemail box and my message is waiting in here
Any insight would help

Mine isnt having issues. Just tried it to be sure. Sounds like for some reason your att mailbox is in use now. Try resetting up youmail maybe?

I'm having the same problem
I set up YouMail but all my voicemails are still going to my old voicemail box. When I first installed it, it seemed to work fine and it downloaded some messages. But now all new messages go to the old voicemail box. Do anybody have any ideas?

i stumbled across (you mail) last night, got excited installed it, went to register and of course gotta have a US number for it to work. yet again Canadians no go.
EDIT: sorry for the rant. it has nothing to do with your questions, just saw the post and decided to reply.

I had to change the numbers in the call forwarding section of the phone settings. Did the same in the voicemail settings. Now when I push and hold "1" it dials YouMail.

This did not work I got
Call forwarding
Connection problem or invalid MMI code

You'll need to set it manually go to settings -> call settings -> call forwarding
You'll change: when busy, unanswered, unreachable
Use the number +17142043114

I prefer using YouMail over GV for my answering service.

it's crazy... mine works, but i never set it up. i was using it on my iPhone 4, then started using the wp7 for a little bit and it was going to youmail. then i switched to my atrix and it continues to work w/o having to set it up again.
i'm guessing the quick code above changed my deposit number in at&t's system.
for the record: i did set it up on my i4, but haven't had to on any phone after.

Unless your call forwarding gets changed it should keep working.

[Q] Voice announcement rather than ring on incoming call?

When I first got my Epic, on an incoming phone call, there would be a voice announcement of either someone on my contact list or a phone number if not on my contact list. I don't remember if this came this way or if somehow a friend of mine set it up this way. Anyway, after I installed the leaked dk28 or sometime after, the phone now does not do voice announcement-is just rings. How can I get back the voice announcement?
Thanks in advance
Go into settings, accessibility and then check talk-back

Thanks for the reply. That program was not installed so I installed it. But now the Epic talks about everything. hahhahah. I just want the Epic to announce phone calls. Thank you again.
I know that its in the stock Tom by default. You could try Vlingo too. I know that you can configure it to read just calls, text, emails, or all of them. It doesn't announce EVERYTHING like talkback does

I tried this too but could not find the above and I really spent a lot of time looking at all the settings but to no avail. Maybe they left it out in Froyo 2.2 that I installed??

Google Voice Minor Issues?

From the first moment I started the phone and booted up Voice, I've had some small issues. I'm posting here to see if anyone else has had similar issues.
When I was setting up Voice I received a message that the "forwarding number change [was] unsuccessful". I haven't noticed any particular issues resulting from this, but still, it was disconcerting. You can check to see of you have the same issue by going to Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail Settings (if you are using voice) > and then click on your phone number.
The second issue is that the ringtone is stuck as the defualt beeping noise that the phone makes on shutdown... This is when people call me on my voice number. Ringtones for contacts calling my AT&T number are working fine.
I'd love to hear if anyone else is experiencing this, and especially if you found a fix!
Thanks.

Yeah, I forgot about that--I got a voicemail notification 2 hours after the phone call yesterday. An outgoing SMS froze too.

did you go to google.com/voice from a PC and change your settings there? When I first got my Atrix, the Google Voice was set up for my Nexus One and didn't work (even after configuring) on my Atrix. So I had to tell it I had a different phone, it gave me a number with hash symbols (#) to punch in the dialer and hit "call". this then forwarded my number to google voice for use with voicemails. I now have no issues with Google Voice... well, I have one issue. The proximity sensor doesn't turn off the screen when I put the phone up to my ear to listen to a voicemail like it did on my Nexus One.
I ran into the same issue when setting up about the number unsuccessful, but I went into phone options in settings and manually changed the carrier. I havent had any other issues, all notifications are instant and I have a custom ringtone.

It's amazing! It's the best way to get Visual Voicemail on an Android device and it's free. To be honest if it wasn't for this app, I would have stayed with my iphone as giving up visual voicemail was a no go for me and the other apps on the market for it were not to my liking.
Once you set it, it will alert you when a voicemail comes in and also transcribe it for you. Aside from that you can even have it send an e-mail to you when voicemail comes in, you can also use voice to make calls, send texts, and much more. Best of all, it's free!
@OP: Mine did the same thing, but I haven't had any issues. If you are getting delays in the notifications, load up google voice and go to settings. From settings make sure "synchronize inbox" and "background data" are enabled.
So I got it but it keeps saying forward voice mail unsucsesful any ideas

Thanks--this is the answer. I too came from a Nexus One and I didn't change any of the settings at first. I had to delete my old forwarding number (which requires another forwarding number to be on the profile), and then make a new forwarding number profile (for my Atrix). This fixed my different ringtone issue as well. Took a few tries and wasn't as smooth as I would have liked, but I got it working--I wasn't doing well without my GV!!
Im routing my calls through voice but every once in a while a lady says "this call is now being recorded". I didn't hit anything. It seems random. Any ideas?

Switching from GVoice to VVM?

Can someone remind me how to switch back into using VVM from GVoice? I have been using GVoice for quite some time and wanted to try VVM once again. I don't see it on either settings and I am just plain stump?
On the phones main setting, I have it under "my carrier" but its still going through GVoice...
Thanks

Edit:
Try *38 to disable conditonal call forwarding. That made vvm work for me after I nolonger wanted to use gvoice as my voicemail.

[Q] Google Voice(mail) and Sprint voicemail

So randomly this week I have been getting some VM that comes in from GV and others still come in from sprint.
This is my work phone and the only GVmails have come from people calling from my corporate office, and the others from my area stores.
I didn't set this up and actually like the GVmail as i can just read the email that it sends.
Any help on how to fully setup so all VM come in using google voice? I logged in to my GV account but see not settings to change in there.
thanks
try reinstalling google voice and setting it up to integrate with sprint.... which brings a question how do you remove the annoying "press 1 to answer"?
that's the thing though I don't have GV on my phone installed at all and only use GV for a home number and have never setup GV with my work cell #.
Side note:From what I can remember each time I got mail from GV my phone never rang but got the VM later from GV.

so went to settings and my work cell number shows but it asks me if i want to setup GVmail....so still not sure why this week some have seen Sprint VM and about 4 others when the phone hasn't rang came from GV and all 4 were from my corp office calling me?!?!?!

if you don't have you GVmail setup and someone calls your GV number, they will hear it ring a few times, then some silence..
If your settings are default (to screen calls or press 1 to accept the call or something dumb) THEN it adds to the confusion.
I would set up your GVmail w/ a greeting that's appropriate, get your call screening options setup the way you like it (I do not screen unless it's a private caller) Then get your text messaging options setup.
Also they have some cool functionality for voicemail to text or Vmail to email transcription too. It's funny sometimes.. They come up with some weird stuff hahahahaha..
Hope this helps

Setting up T-Mobile Voicemail on Nexus 4

Hey guys, I'm trying to get some support on setting up voicemail on the Nexus 4 for T-Mobile. I've been doing a couple of hours of research and haven't run across anything substantial. If anyone can help me that would be awesome!
Also note: I also tried downloading T-Mobile's voicemail app and it wouldn't set up properly. The app would say it couldn't setup properly at the time.

Never tried T Mobile Voice mail. I just have everything forwarded over to my Google Voice which provides Voice mail. That's always an alternative if you can't get the T Mobile one working.

Did you hold down 1 in the dial pad? It should take you directly to your voicemail or have you configure it. It worked that way for me when I was on contract and still works the same using prepaid.

I sure did. It then says, "You've reached the voicemail system. If you have a mailbox on this system, press star...". I proceeded with star and entered my phone number and it says it's "invalid". Lost in terms of why it's asking that. I'm used to the general - setup your mailbox prompt. Some reason, it doesn't exist here.
T-Mobile visual voicemail app works for me. If you're on WiFi, turn it OFF during the initialization. Once you're all setup, you'll be good to go.

I didn't have any problems with my voicemail. I've had T-Mobile for a while and all I did was get a new sim card and had it activated and my voicemail was working with no problems at all with my Nexus. Also I found this from T-Mobile support...
"To access the voicemail main menu, follow these steps:
Note: Make sure you are not roaming when attempting to set up voicemail for the first time.
1.Dial 123 or hold down the 1 key
2.Press Send.
3.Enter the last 4 digits of your mobile number as your voicemail password.
4.Follow the tutorial to set up your voicemail password and greeting.
Note:
•If you decline to set up the voicemail password and/or greeting, the tutorial plays each time until you set up both the password and greeting. Therefore, it is optimal to activate both features during initial setup."
Also if that doesn't work try calling your cell number from your land line and hit * when you get your voicemail if it lets you.
Are calls to T-Mobile voicemail count toward 100 minutes($30 plan) limit?

I appreciate your help! I definitely thought the same. After contacting T-MO, they said that the feature has been turned off. I have no clue how this has happened when the only change has been me ordering a micro-sim and activating it.. Weird! But all is well..
Again, I truly appreciate your guy's help! You are awesome..
