How to tell if rooted

How do I tell if my x8 is rooted?
Try to find "superuser" in menu. If there's something with the name "Superuser", your phone's rooted.
If Superuser works on your device, then it is rooted. If you have no Superuser, then it is not. If superuser does not work, Reboot and try again.

It is installed in system and you need to remove it before un rooting otherwise even factory reset won't remove it and you need to re root or flash a new rom to remove it
Un-root is very easy. Just flash with PCC.
I think SuperOneClick can unroot your phone too

Help After Root

Installed Towelroot, auro rec then supersu. Super SU kept failing. Need help uninstalling root. Trying to uninstall root via supersu but it is taking an hour and doing nothing. Screen wont unlock now either via tap method. Someone please advise ASAP.
Hard reboot the phone. Retry SuperSU and use the "Normal" method if prompted to flash something...

Go to dialer > dial 3845#*801# > HW Device Test > Touch Test > Touch Firmware Upgrade > OK
Might have to reboot but that should do the trick. Let me know.
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Free mobile app

Tried to downgrade firmware from 511070220 to 510058520. Now a lockscreen appears.

I tried to downgrade my rooted firmware from 511070220 to 510058520. After reboot I get a lockscreen. Anyone know how to fix this?
Only pressing the option key brings me to the regular menu.

You could remote wipe it if you have a google account connected to it.
I don't think it requires any other action except the phone having an internet connection.
By flashing a stock firmware and select a .pit file and check repartition. You have to know what you are doing though.
Or boot into the recovery, look for a screenshot of the recovery on google and try to factory reset it using the buttons.
Yes but that would be fairly trial and error.

Unfortunately the phone wasn't set up for android device manager as device administrator so can't use this function.
Also the screen doesn't turn on, so can't use the buttons for doing a hard reset through recovery

You can. But you have to estimate by using pictures of the stock recovery.
