So I'm creating this thread to track availability/delivery of the 32 GB version of the Asus Transformer. I pre-ordered the 32 GB version from Amazon 3 am CST on the 26th, and my order indicates the following.
"Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. You can cancel at any time."
I haven't heard of any 32 GB availability as of yet and thought it'd be good to see when people actually start getting their hands on these units. I've seen on sites like CDW an estimated availability of May 14th?
Please add any info, links or dates you've seen as to when the 32 GB Transformers might start shipping.
Same deal for me. I'm giving them two more weeks to ship, which I think is beyond a reasonable expectation for a model they say launched. If it doesn't come in by then I'll cancel and just wait for the newer tablets coming out in June/July.
I am in the same boat. Ordered from Amazon at 3AM EST. Keeping my fingers crossed that these exist and just didn't go out with the first batch. If I can just get it within a week or two I will be happy, three to four weeks I will be slightly disappointed at the wait, and anything longer I will probably move on to Samsung.
Yea I'm given it till May 13th or thereabouts to get it out. Hoping its just a matter of Asus actually delivering them to amazon/other retailers, similar to the dock at the current moment.
I'd maybe cancel and go to the tab if it has a price somewhere in the same ball park as the transformer. Any other tablets out there that will be coming out in June/July that would compare - samsungs is only one i know of at the moment unless there is some google/nexus tablet annouced at Google I/O.
Samsung, Google and Amazon are the ones I hear about. Of course only the Samsung is solid. Dell I suppose but they seem to be way behind the curve so far. Sony will probably be very late to market and overpriced, nothing new there!
Not many replies, could we be seeing a substantially lower demand for the 32gb?
Does this bode well for us? I mean if demand is low and Asus knows it they may focus on the 16gb and leave us hanging. Alternatively they may push out a bunch of 32gb in the knowledge they'll still move and do so at a more profitable point.
I pre ordered from BnH, but no idea shipping date. I have the Acer, but will most likely be trading that back in before the two weeks at BB. Honeycomb, at least on the Acer, has been a buggy experience. Would love the Acer if it had a 32GB model, but who knows how long until they even arrive from Asus, so who knows.
Also, don't buy a Samsung product like the tab, Samsung mobile products are over priced garbage the last few years. Just ask any honest Sprint salesman. Samsung's Q/A sucks and they have poor quality products'

me too. pre-ordered at TG initially and then Amazon (initially with Target and then subsequently via amazon directly). Have cancelled the Target-using-Amazon and TG. Hopefully this will arrive soon. Else am moving on. It might either be the Toshiba or Samsung.

That's my plan too. I pre-ordered the 32gb from J&R at 1:00pm on the 26th.
I sat and watched people buy the 16gb from newegg. I think I could have got one, but I wanted the 32gb. We'll see what happens.
I might call J&R tomorrow to see if they know anything (but I doubt they do.) From what I've read they seem to be the most honest of the stores selling this thing.
I will report back if I hear anything.
I have an order with AAFES and a Preorder with Amazon. No word on when either will ship though.
From CSR at Amazon. They expect it to ship on June8! time to move on?
I ordered from B&H as well. No word. I will also give it 2 weeks.
Walmart had it for a few seconds/minutes. Hopfully the CSR at amazon was wrong.
In the same boat...
Hello all. Just checking in. I've got a preorder in with Target through Amazon as well. I'll be watching this thread and I'll post something if I hear anything through the grapevine (or the accounts page). I'm thinking maybe a simultaneous "launch" for the 32 Gb and the dock around 5/14? Thoughts?

Wow. Thats awful, I wonder if the 16gb i ordered to replace my xoom will be quicker.
I think Amazon is giving everybody a date in June for anything to do with the Transformer so that they can surprise customers instead of letting them down if something further delays the items. I am personally keeping my fingers crossed for a dual release of the 32GB and the keyboard within the next two weeks.

Sure hope this isn't true. I kinda doubt a Amazon CSR would have inside knowledge as to when they are getting them from Asus. I too passed on ordering the 16 GB elsewhere, and kinda kicking myself now. But with a 32 micro SD sitting on my desk I'll hopefully have a 64 GB tablet in matter of a few weeks!
Saw that the walmart page went live indicating in stock (now out of stock) - thinking it was an error but interested to see if people get tracking #s.

Amazon definitely suprises far more often than disappoints.
I would auto refresh the Walmart.com order page.
It came up twice for me. The first time I was in the process of ordering and it popped up that the item was out of stock during the order process. The second time it popped up the page refreshed when I saw it and it was out of stock.
I think they are populating as they arrive and are being sold. But, it could be a glitch in their system.
Someone else on the other thread was able to successfully place an order.
I just snatched a 16GB one from Fry's. Seems Fry's are getting some 16GB ones at store locations in dribbles now. Gotta check for in store pickup. Might check for 32GB versions there as well periodically.
Now, I am only relaying information I got from a few reps today.
So I went down to a local Fry's and there were some Samsung reps were displaying some tabs on a table. So I proceeded to ask about 3G/4G versions because that's what I am waiting for.
Well they dropped a doozy on me, Samsung apparently has a exclusivity deal with Verizon for 6 months, so starting the day the Verizon LTE one releases, you won't see any other carrier in the US carry the Tab with a data modem.
They were pretty sure and were using pretty definitive wording.
But thats not the end of this. I was then near a local Target, in a different city, and there was a Verizon store there, so I walked in, and started asking questions about the Tab.
Without me asking or even mentioning the exclusivity, they themselves said it was exclusive to Verizon.
So there you have it, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc are out of luck for 6 months.
I personally am going to go for it, but just letting others know of my findings. I wouldn't take these as 100% fact, but two different sources said the same thing.
Yeah I'm also planning on getting it. Which model are you getting and will it be the off contract or with contract?
As soon as TMO gets a 3G/4G version I'm selling my Wifi16gb and grabbin it! Sad to hear this.
Today offical samsung thailand apologize for the delay of GT 10.1 3G to Aug 25th.
So those who preorder it in thailand mobile expo will get free gift which is a licensed chelsea shirt + galaxy player 4" 8gb.
Is that just a delay for Thailand?

It looks like it
I searched and couldn't find anything, but usually when a phone takes awhile to come out on Sprint compared to other carriers it is because they have asked for changes or modifications to the hardware. This has happened with HTC in the past and I hope carriers over to LG also.
I specifically am curious about a Micro SD slot and whether Sprint will require it on their version. The lack of SD slot and smaller screen are really making me move toward the Note 3 instead.... But i hate physical buttons and really like the look and feel of the G2.
Anyone hear anything specifically?
Thanks in advance.

Shoot, I didn't think of that. I'm this close to ending my Sprint contract (with 3 weeks left) and going to Tmo for this phone.
Sprint's preorder page doesn't list anything as an exclusive. Hell, they don't even have details on the storage. I'm inclined to think it will be similar to the AT&T and Tmo versions, then. I would think if they had SD storage, removable battery, or something different from the other carriers, it would be on the preorder page. Verizon did this with the wireless charging feature exclusive to them. An extra 32-64 GB of storage over the competition sure is something worth bragging about, especially with this beast.
If they threw in an SD slot, I'd be tempted to stick with Sprint and deal with the dead zones and slow speeds. But I don't think Sprint is in for anything special.

I have yet to see anyone actually handle a Sprint variant... Which makes me really question how much of the same it will be.
I mean... Verizon had them change the buttons and yet we have seen that device, and with Sprint and Verizon both being CDMA they usually share many device details. We should've seen something already.
And I'm not really giving any credit to the sprint product page since that has been wrong and incomplete many times before.
Sprint service sucks , but they are GREAT with device support. They have repeatedly requested features in their phones that other carriers have ignored. All with open bootloaders and fast updates.

I would love for Sprint to be bringing in the Korean version too with the SD slot and removable battery, but believe I recall Sprint announcing the G2 on their site as having a 3000mh battery. With that size battery, I believe that only the locked up version with no removable battery or SD slot (Int'l version) has that sized battery. I would bet they are going with the same Int'l version that the other carriers are using but also "Hope" for the alternative.
My 16GB GS4 has only 2GB left after moving all the allowed apps to the external micro sd card.
I definitely need a 32G unit.
Went to the VZ site and a box pops up to chat.
Maddison was there and I asked him/her the answer was VZ will not be carrying a 32GB version.
What a genius.
Anyone know anything about this as 16GB is really not enough.
They said the same thing with the S4, but two months later the 32gb appeared.
The only people that probably know are a small number of people in Verizon and Samsung. NOT customer service reps.

This. And even those people don't know usually. It's based on market feedback, negotiations, cost of manufacturing, etc.
So, they had the ZTE USA webinar talking about the release.
In no particular order (and I'm sure I missed some points since I'm going from memory):
they listened to the beta testers and community chatter and added the capacitive buttons back into the US base model
this change is what delayed the release slightly
gold model will be released first (July 27th) followed by the quartz grey (Aug 16th/17th -- BestBuy and webinar disagreed on date) -- no plans for the silver one in the US
pre-orders are available now at ZTE (their website and eBay), Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and B&H for $399
notification LED is present and RGB (he specifically remembered red and green being there)
they've heard the feedback on the bootloader unlocking and been in discussions with R&D about the best way to do it -- they said it's an "when" not an "if", but it won't be at launch because that would meant another delay
it will have Tap to Wake
they've been working on the imaging code constantly -- every update they've done has had changes for it
it is band compatible with Sprint and Verizon but will not work with them at launch -- if they can get it certified, it will probably only need an OTA to work with them
updates will be on a monthly schedule to line up with Google and to not over annoy users with frequent OTA updates (the only exception was for a critical security updates from Google)
they are planning the 6 GB/128 GB model to be released in the US at some point in the future, but they wouldn't commit to any time frame
they are working with Google on getting the phone DayDream certified
they are committed to an Android Nougat release as soon as possible but wouldn't comment on a date (he seemed to imply they were working with Google on this to get it out more quickly)
microSD slot was limited to 128 GB [although, I see no reason why it couldn't use higher than that, since most of the 32 GB limited ones work fine with larger capacity]
they will be posting the rest of the answers on the ZTE USA Community Forum over the next few days, including if the retail partners are included in the Passport 2.0 program [I'm not sure what distinction was being made here, since they had already said the full warranty would apply from any retailer]
Of course, this was from ZTE USA, so mention of the what the European model will get.
Only non-Axon related thing was asking about ZTE doing a Nexus with Google, and the gist of it was that even if they were planning something, he couldn't talk about it because Google likes to be secretive with the Nexus program.
Edit: Webinar posted now on Youtube -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyP4Wr8ApSo
Sounds like they are responding well to user input. Never really seen anything like it before.
I'm glad I pre-ordered today! With effort like this, I'm more than happy to show my support. (And it was nice hearing them say they'd love to make a Nexus.)
>it is band compatible with Sprint and Verizon but will not work with them at launch -- if they can get it certified, it will probably only need an OTA to work with them
I'm pressing ZTE to see if CDMA support (not specifically Verizon/Sprint support, since they aren't the only CDMA carriers) is at least turned on out of the box.

Having it disabled in the phone at launch will probably discourage people from trying something stupid before Verizon/Sprint "flip the switch" and is also probably to ensure that those companies look upon ZTE as favourably as possible and don't delay too long.
Who else provides CDMA over there? do those others have their own networks or do they rely on Verizon/Sprint towers, the latter would to my mind mean that they are still bound by the wishes of Verizon/Sprint.
Anyone have one of their elusive $50 discount codes for the Axon 7? I would like to preorder one, but the California tax is killing me.

Curious, but what stupidity are they trying to discourage? The OP3 has CDMA enabled for Verizon, people are able to make calls/data fine, Verizon doesn't seem to care (I doubt they'll ever officially support it), and people don't seem to be breaking their phones to connect to Verizon (just pop in the SIM and go). The later part does make sense though.
Other CDMA carriers include US Cellular (5th biggest, right below Sprint), and smaller regional providers. They all run their own CDMA networks. A pretty comprehensive list is available on Wikipedia, look for the ones with Voice Technology CDMA2000, Data Technology EV-DO (and LTE): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_wireless_communications_service_providers
EDIT: I gave a listen to the Webinar that was posted on Youtube. It looks like the hardware is in place, but CDMA is disabled in the software for all carriers until Verizon/Sprint give support. Bummer.

Yeah, it's actually fairly unusual -- they actually changed the model design based on early feedback. It seems like they are really trying to grow the brand in the US, and want a popular flagship to go with it. Since they've only really made mid- to low-end phones before, makes sense they would want to keep people happy to build the buzz.
I wish they'd had a better answer on the bootloader, but as long as they follow through, that's fine. I'd rather have them listen and deliver it late and have it never happen.

I think there was already quite a bit of negative feedback on the Chinese forums about the lack of capacitive buttons on the lesser model (if I was reading the badly translated stuff from Bing translator correctly) before things really got going outside China so it may be more of a general willingness to listen than trying to grow a specific market.
They've posted the webinar on Youtube now -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyP4Wr8ApSo

It is not about "if" but about "when".
"Never" is also about "when".

Well ****. Hopefully this is not the case for the European model. Otherwise all hope is pointed at the Nexus. But the Nexus won't have front firing speakers... However I rather have software buttons than front firing speakers.
While I'm not a huge fan of capacitive buttons for the most part, I'd prefer them to having on-screen buttons burned in due to the weaknesses of current OLED technology.
Gee it's great that they are listening to us and it's also great that the 128GB/6GB version will be released outside of China.

Most likely is, just like how 64GB+ cards can work in phones that state that they only support up to 32GB if you format it correctly.
