Can I change kernels without changing the roms I wanna keep stock Rom and maybe change kernel to maybe the gs4 more snappy and maybe add the lag free stuff but in order do this I need to change kernels how do I do this ? Is there and app or do I do with clockworkmod recovery ?

yes u can change kernels without changing the Rom but as u can see there is no CWM yet
You would do it with CWM or you could use odin.
If the kernal you want comes in a zip file use CWM.
If the kernal you want comes in a tar file use odin.

I have a KF1 firmware which is stock. Now i want to install custom ROM using ROM Manager on MY SGS2. But then I want to use KJ3 custom ROM. Is it possible? Because when I try installing it using CWM on recovery mode and ROM Manager, it is simply not working.
I hope someone could me out here.
Thanks
Is your phone rooted? If not you may need to do a bit of research on how to flash custom kernels and how to use Odin. Its not hard to do, but it very easy to stuff the phone if not done properly.
I have rooted my phone using custom kernel. I use CF-root.
But my Firmware is still kF1. I am now trying to update it to 3.3.5 using odin.
how were you trying to flash the custom rom? Just need to see if your missing a step
Guys, thanks...
I have read bunch of new ideas here.
Currently I am using stock KI3 and want to use the Kitchen Room Ki3 which is Deodexed Rom to install some good themes.
I am right on these?
Odexed = stock rom
deodexed = custom rom?
Not exactly. We have some custom odexed ROMs too ;-) But, you will never see stock deodexed ROM for sure.

Flash the stock kernel Via odin , put the File in the PDA , then start flashing

If you already rooted the phone then you can install ROM Manager which can be used to flash the latest CWM recovery image.

you are providing wrong information,
ROM manager does not work with some kernels and could potentially result in a software malfunction,
@op and everyone else having the same question:
please just read the original instructions from the kernel developer to ensure success of the installation

Hi installing A kernel is easy here are the steps
1. Make a backup because if anything goes wrong you can restore ur setting
If you want to make a back up go to Backup and restore click backup ,back up everything: System,Data,Cache, etc
make sure you backup ur stuff to ur micro sd card
2. Make sure the kernel is compatible for your device and the rom
3 Flash the kernel an enjoy
4 By the way can you tell me the kernel name and link for the ROM and the kernel so i can check if its compatible with ur device/Rom
If i helped you please press the thanks button
If u have any problem contact me
there are many kernels for s4 based on 4.2 and 4.3
perseus, adam and many more
do remember to create a backup using recovery
philz recovery is best
then download the zip of any kernel (do remember to check its compatibility with ur OS version i.e jb or kk)
any flash it using recovery

I thought that for the I9500 almost no custom kernels are being maintained anymore. Better to stick with the one that comes with the rom.
