[Q] htc trophy (Spar100) flash error [244] help! - Trophy General

Hi everybody,
I have installed on my vodafone SFR htc trophy, RSPL and then HSPL, after that i tried to install some cooked roms by ansar, after the flash process the phone did reboot to stuck in a black screen, pulling out the battery and placing in again the phone now stuck in the bootloader and went from being PC40100 as a Model ID to be like:
SPAR100 SS-BC (4K)
HSPL-1.10.2250.1(112663)
MicroP(LED) 0x09
Touch A1(v10,20)
and everytime i try to install any firmware even the phone's original stock ones i get the error INVALID MODEL ID [244], i've tried also to flash it using a Y-cable and a Goldcard and when i plug the micro usb cable in the phone while this later in the USB HOST MODE the phone stuck forever in CHECKING.., anybody has any idea how to fix this SPAR100 bootloader problem? thanks in advance.
--------------------------------------------------------------update-----------------------------------------------------
it did work the hex editing and i could bypass the invalid model id error, but now i'm stuck in the [266] error every time i try to install some stock firmware, and i get Radio Update Fail when trying it using the Y-cable, and when flashing a custom rom the flash process goes well until the phone reboots to stuck in htc logo with the 7 vibrates, and searching the [266] error they said about it, it caused when flashing a custom rom that erases a partition the stock firmwares use to install their bloatware so i'm trying more custom roms hopping that one of them finally successfully boots the phone, have you any idea what could be done to bypass the [266] error?

Sounds like you flashed the HSPL for the Verizon version of the trophy. The Spar100 is a name change so as not to flash roms not specific to the Verizon Trophy. All you should have to do is revert back to OSPL using the HSPL software which should allow you to flash a stock rom. See this post for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647. Hope this helps!!!

thanks man for your replay, but that's what i get every time i try to revert back to OSPL using DFT RSPL HSPL tool:
-------------------------------------------------------------
[Error Description]:
Invalid ModelID. This means that your phone not supported.
This installer supports only limited number of the phones.
SPARK, MOZART, MONDRIAN, GOLD, SCHUBERT.
If you have phone from this list, but still have this error, please contact with DFT team.
[Info]: USBWorkHSPL.cpp (301)
[Error Description]:
ModelID is 'SPAR1000'. Please report this info to DFT.

any idea how to change that SPAR100 to PC401000?

Honestly I don't but if it's a matter of just getting a rom on the phone you can change the model ID in the signed .nbh file to SPAR10000 using a hex editing tool and it should flash. Is it SPAR10000 or SPAW10000? My Verizon Trophy changes to SPAW10000. Regardless, the model ID is right there on the 4th line in the hex editor. Beyond that PM'ing one of the dev's, Cotulla or mwang from DFT, would be your best bet. Since the arrival of WP8 the experts seems to have abandoned this forum and it's just us noobs :silly: Sorry!!!
The bootloader will show 4 characters and only the first 4 numbers of the model ID, like SPAR1000 or P0401000. If you do use the hex editor only change the first 4 but leave remaining numbers as they are.

man i really appreciate for you your care, i had read about the hex editing in the DFT team's chines forum concerning the same issue i'm facing, and since i don't understand chines it remained not that clear for me what should be hex edited in the .nbh file, and now as you have shaded some light about it i'll give it a try,
I've already tried to PM some developers out there but they don't respond, may be too busy to do so..., anyway i'll try the hex editing thing and i'll let you know the result.
thanks.

calm down there champ, you're just using the ROM for the wrong region.
go to the HTC support site and find your correct ROM for your region with your IMEI number and flash it, you don't need a gold card.

Calm down mate
The possible reason is the rom you tried to flash is not the. CORRECT STOCK ROM.
Go to HTC website to download unbranded hd2 rom or go to your carrier website for a branded hd2.
Else, you should check your micro sd condition
Cheers

First you need to start RSPL, chose your SPL, reboot to RSPL and then start flashing HSPL. Thats all...
I did choose first RSPL and get same error

trying from last 3 hours but cannot find useful information on this error
I used to have android on my htc hd2 before I wanted to roll back to windows so I tried to follow the steps
downloaded the rom from htc site and I found it is wrong
my hd2 is not t mobile
its model number is T8585
made in taiwan
hspl4 does not recognise the phone
gives out connectivity error
but my phone shows usb in white boot loader
when i tried with other rom it gives out 00028002 dont allow message
so if any one can help me please.......
You need to download the correct RUU or LEOIMG.nbh for your HD2.HSPL on your HD2, this means your HD2 will only flash the correct stock ROM for your HD2. I am not really sure why HSPL 4 is giving you trouble. I would find the correct ROM for the device and flash it first, then try to run HSPL 4 again. I will be monitoring this thread today so post back if you need further help.
Also please refrain from double posting threads on the same question as it is against the rules to do so.
thank you for the reply
I don't know how to find the correct stock rom for my phone
its model number is T8585
windows mobile 6.5 professional patform
512mb rom
can you help me where to download the stock rom for this one...
when i try to do hspl it says waiting for usb connection and after sometime it gives out critical error
usb connect failed
my pc recognises my phone as qualcom technologies cdma msm
serial number of my phone is
HT097NW00014
I dont know where to enter serial number to download stock rom from htc website
You need a RUU that was for the carrier the de ice wad originally with and the area that the device came from. The name of the RUU file will have the information on what carrier it is for and what region it is for. Start looking through the HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM development forum to find kinks to stock ROMs as I can not find any of the stick ROMs on HTC.com. If you have s T-Moile HD2 look for the stock ROM in the T-Mobile Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM development.
Same problem
I've crying for three days, last night didnt sleep... Ive flashed few roms im my HD2, my problems started when I flashed Windows Phone7, first it locked my SD card but I solved it... After that I decided roll back to Ice Cream Sandwich... Did a task 29 sucessfully and put back the ICS, and my fall down started, my micro USB port stopped working in bootloader and the phone dont charge anymore, strangelly it works through magldr as usb mass storage. That means I cant flash HSPL, Ive been trying official stock roms vis SD, 6 by now and all of them failed saying "00028002 Not allow" I dont know wich one is the correct rom... In the HTC web site cant find any option to insert the serial number in order to get the stock rom.
In advance... Thanks
My Serial number: HT039NW01068
Please help us, Ive been solving my problem through xda since my HTC gene

my hd2 is bricked, radio bricked or what?

hello,
got an hd2 with "upgrade rom code error please try again" message.
i've noticed that the phone has hspl 2.08 installed. tried to install magldr, but got only a black screen without options. tried to install several stock rom's, but without luck, i don't know the region and i don't find s/n, imei, etc. every stock rom installed stuck at 8-9%. i can remove hspl 2.08 and install spl 2.08, but that's all.... tried to install other radio, but i have only radio 2.15.50.14 and stuck on 96%. can't find other radios's, because on topic with radio's all links are to megaupload...
tried even to install custom rom, like "energy", installation goes well, but when restart vibrate 7 times and that's all.
what else can i do? tried switching os, computers, usb ports, usb cables, batteries, stooping all other apps on computers, but nothing helps!...
PLEASE HELP!....
it's not my first flash...
nobody?...
try reflashing the radio 2.15.50, or a CORRECT stock rom, but this time chill teh phone in teh freezer first, for about half an hour. try it a few times, , report back.
tried to reflash radio 2.15.50, but no luck, as i already told before... as for the correct stock rom: i don't know the imei or s/n. it's any method to find out?
imei will be on the regulation label under battery.
Trying the freezer trick as mentioned samsamuel is recommended as if boots fine while chilled you know it probably hardware failure in BGA
but after freezing i must wait to defreeze because of condens, right?
Put it in an air tight bag & put it in sensible location in fridge icebox for good 30 minutes then take it out & use it straight away before it warms up too much.
If it manages to boot or progress further than before you can assume heat related BGA failure.
I have actually done this & also had the HD2 laying on an ice pack while flashing/booting to keep temps down & prove mainboard hardware bad .
tried also freeze method, but no chance... all radio's that i tried stopped to 96-99%, as before freezing...
i have another hd2 that is working, can i try to make some gold card?
it is any possibility to install or change the radio? or, it's any software that say which radio i have installed on phone?
did gold card helps somehow?
one more question: tried to install a lot of radios (2.07, 2.08, 2.10, 2.11, 2.12, 2.14, 2.15) and a lot of stock rom, but the result is the same. it is possible to have a hd2 with 1024 ram? i don't know what to do else, really!...
strange thing, after task 29 i don't have on tri-color screen the message aboutupgrade error, but magldr won't install well (just black screen without options)
my guess is that its a hardware failure. used hd2's are cheap though, ad its fairly easy to get parts and there are a ton of video's that show you how to disassemble the phone and replace parts.
tried today something: installed hspl 2.08, task29, downgraded to spl 1.66, and then

yes, it means none of those roms are accepted because they don't match the vendor and/or region that the phone was released to, and it also means that you don't have HSPL installed, otherwise it would skip checking the vendor id.
OR
it could mean your ID is damaged, , , in bootloader (stripey screen) type EXACTLY what every line says.
Also, when you say 'installed hspl 2.08' you arent telling us teh usefull information, , , 2,08 can refer to 2.08.0000 or 2.08.hspl, , which is it? because one is hspl, one isnt.
ok, i saw that with hspl i can change between spl 1.42.0000 - 3.03.000 and 1.42.hspl - 3.03.hspl.
right now, as i mentioned, i have installed 1.42.0000 and tried several roms, but all of them stop at 1% and restart the device.
when on 1.xx.hspl or 2.08.hspl, goes to 8-10% and error (the bar become red).
on the tri-color it says:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
and serial or usb, depending on cable in or out.
one more thing: when i try to task 29 it shows me that it have 1.66.405.2 ?!?!?!?!
magldr no longer wants to install or i can't see this: even if the installer say done, it not appear after tri-color....
it seems i don't have the proper radio, but tried a lot of radio's and none will install; unfortunately can't install stock rom as i don't know imei, s/n or something else... all radio's failed at 96% or 99%!...
can someone tell me step-by-step what to do , i feel i've forgot something or do something wrong...
p.s.: i almost quit! i will send my phone to someone who knows to jtag...
when the spl ends .0000 you CANNOT task 29, flash radios, flash roms (except the correct stock rom only), cant flash magldr, nothing at all.
It sounds to me like you have what i call a stuck radio, which basically flashes at 8%-10%, which is why the process is hanging there, or at 97%-99% when flashing only a radio.
Problem is all you can do is try the freezer trick, again and again, preferably using the CORRECT stock rom, , flashing from sd card (you can make a goldcard, that may help)
heres what id do.(assuming it ISNT a t mobile us phone ((green send key))
1 use hspl2 to set 1.66.0000
2 get my correct stock rom and load the nbh to sd card ready to flash, an sd card 4gb or smaller, no ext partitions or anything, just for simplicity.
3 id freeze the heck outa the phone, and try flashing it, then id try again, and again, freezing as necessary.
if after 20 or so attempts, id try it with a different version correct stock rom if i could find one.
failing that, id make the sd card a goldcard (2gb cards are best) and try it all again.
if all that fails, id cry a bit and give up.
i know the differences between .0000 and hspl!... ok, what if a tmous? with 3.03hspl seems that radio 2.08.50.05 charge at 99.9% (bar remain green at 100%, but a mark is near bar and error message got to the cutom ruu app.
the problem is that i don't know if my mainboard is EU or TMOUS, as i buyed only the mainboard and don't have any label, stamp or something else.... thats why i don't know the correct rom, the correct radio.
i have also an other hd2, which works. can i use it to make a goldcard and try to use the image to the faulty hd2? it is possible to erase everything on the faulty hd2 and install the image from the good one hd2 with goldcard method??
one last thought: i have an other hd2 motherboard with some trouble to the touch (it is a mb with sim slot changed, but unsuccessful repair and touch won't work anymore). successful installed on this mb magldr and wp7.
now, it is possible to take the nand chipset from the mb with touch fault and put on the mb which don't want to install nothing - NAND physically replacement? it will work? please answer me.

TMOUS board is a little longer on bottom edge than the EU one & does not straight fit in EU housing.

[Q]stuck at recovery; serial change to usb

Hi everyone!
I am very sorry for such a n00b-post, but I really cannot find a solution.
The problem:
I recently got a HD2 of a friends who did not use it anymore, because Android suddently stopped working. Now it's stuck at a black screen [A] saying:
aMAGLDR V1.13
Build: Feb 1 2011 03:46:07
by Cotulla 2011
I tried resetting the phone using the red button near the battery, but it did not solve the problem. I am able to boot the HD2 into recovery-mode (colory screen) but then, after connecting to a pc it does not change from "serial" to "usb".
I have installed WMDC on my W7 64-bit system. I have also tried to use "RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship" (from the 4shared "shipped LEO roms"), but none of them recognises my HD2 neither in Recovery nor in the black screen [A].
Is this phone useless? What can I try to revive it?
What might be helpfull: when normally booting, the phone vibrates once during the HTC-screen and 5 times after the black screen [A] appears.

Since you're unable to connect to PC, then you can't re-flash HSPL.
HSPL needed to force flash any shipped WM6.5 ROMs to HD2.
Then the only way is to flash original WM6.5 ROM for your device from uSD.
If you're not sure what CID, just download any HD2 shipped ROMs and try to flash from uSD.
Just be careful not to flash EU's ROM on T-Mobile device!
Extract the ".exe" file, then rename the ".nbh" file into "leo.nbh", copy that to root of uSD.
Power up your device while pressing vol down button.
Don't worry if the ROM refuse to flash, it's just a wrong CID.
But to make sure, connect your device to another clean PC (without android drivers inside, just WMDC), preferably a PC sets for syncing WP7/WP8 devices.
And make sure your device turns on by itself when charger is connected (auto turn on from off state).
That's just to make sure that usb connector is not damaged.
HD2 vibrate 1x at power on, it's normal.
Vibrate 5x after magldr shows up, I suspect something wrong with magldr or the ROM itself (corrupted or something).
Another possibility is some NAND bad blocks.
But if it's vibrate 5x at power on, then you have a bad luck.
The point is, flash the original ROM first.
If it's success, then flash HSPL.
After that, the rest is up to you..
Firstly, I want to thank you very much for your quick and extensive answer!
But I have only one tiny question: are these the ROMS which I can find at http: //www . 4shared . com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html#dir=MGRa1Cen ? And you mean I should just pick one and try?
You can also find HD2 shipped ROMs here.
Anything that has "TMO" are T-mobile ROMs, otherwise it's EU.
Again, don't flash EU's ROM on TMO devices!
The first 3 digit are the ROM version (1.66, 1.48. etc.), 3.14 is the latest WM6.5 ROM.
The next 3 digit are CID code (207, 404, 707, etc.).
Like I've said, if you don't know which CID for your HD2, then just download all ROMs from different CID then flash it one-by-one using uSD.
Thanks!
So far I have tried the 404 and 162 (edit: and 161, 911), but so far without luck. I'll keep you posted!
Tiny question: is it normal that I cannot shutdown in Recovery Mode?
Perhaps some useful info shown in Recovery:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like an EU HD2, TMO HD2 are rarely using hynix nand, made around late 2009 or early 2010.
Just try to flash ROM with CID for your friend's country first.
If failed, then try another CID.
There should be one or two info about CID number vs. country somewhere around.
Good luck!

At this moment I have tried all the NLD roms with no result. Also I have tried roms from several european countries, but none of them works:/ Might it help if I give the serial number?
And what might be worth saying: my phone turns on when connected to AC power / wall-charger; when connected to charger the "serial" disappears...
Thanks for all your help!!!
Have you try connect to other PC?
When flasing ROM from uSD and failed, what error message you got?
If it's "CID mismatch" or something like that, than it's definitely a wrong CID.
If it's "ROM update error bla bla bla", it's most likely corrupted flash image or the uSD itself (use a small sized uSD, 1gb would be fine).
Even if you flash the correct CID, without removing HSPL first, it would still throw an error message "ROM update error bla bla bla" during flashing Radio.
Then it will restart and retry to flash again on it's own.
By the way, I don't know if there are ways to flash HSPL from uSD.
Or guide on how to make a "gold card".
I sugest you search it.
Worth to try if you couldn't find the correct CID for your device.
CID from serial number?
Yes, back in 2010/11 HTC site provides s/n checking for download the correct ROM.
But now it's gone.

Thank you very, very much for helping such a newbie ^^
At this moment, I am able to get into the update-menu: I changed the filename to LEOIMG.nbh. The only problem is that all the Dutch images give the same error: 00018003 : Radio (V2) - FAIL.
What could I do to solve this error? Use the freezer-trick or wouldn't it make any sense?
edit: it does boot when I connect to another W7 pc with WMDC (replies " Not connected" ), only it automatically starts the update-procedure (which fails).
There are no such thing as newbie, that's why we need to learn.
Error 00018003 during Radio flash?
I have no idea what error is that.
But first, are you sure that your friend bought the phone on local shop?
I mean, not imported, or when he/she travel overseas, or has the mainboard swapped at HTC service center.
It happens to me when my second HD2 suddenly has no signal, about 2 years ago.
Brought it to local service center and they swapped the mainboard without telling me.
And the swapped mainboard has CID from 404 (europe), the original was 707 (indonesia).
Okay, back to error something.
WMDC won't recognize the phone unless it's a working WM6.5 device, or a working WP7 device with WP7 SDK + Zune installed on your PC.
Just put the phone into bootloader screen (3 color screen), then connect it to a clean PC.
Does the "Serial" changed to "USB"..?
If it does, reflash HSPL 2.08 using HSPL4 package.
Then flash Radio ROM only, 2.15.50.14 is a good one.
Again, an EU HD2 can use either EU's Radio ROM or T-Mobile's Radio ROM.
But a T-Mobile HD2 can only use a T-Mobile's ROM..!
If the "Serial" doesn't change to "USB" but on your PC makes sound like something is plugged in, open device manager and look for an unknown device (no drivers loaded).
Expand it, what does it says?
To be honest: I am not 100% sure that it is an European (Dutch) phone. What I saw when I opened the phone's back was that the warranty-seals on the screws were molested. I don't think he got the motherboard replaced: way to expensive in relation to a new phone...
The bootloader screen gives now the following text:
RUUNBH
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0X05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Upgrade ROM error
Please try again
When I connected it to a clean pc, the phone booted and gave another upgrade-error, only this time on a black screen (I got the uSD out the phone).
After booting the phone and connecting to a pc the "serial" does not change to "usb"...
When I tried to install WMDC I get the error "Installationpackage not supported by processor". Seems like bullcrap, but there it ends. No yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager...
I have yet not tried to flash a T-Mobile ROM to the phone. I have tried all the NLD ROM's: 1.66.404 ; 1.48.404 ; 1.66.404 ; 3.14.404 ; 1.66.404 ; 1.43.404
I have yet not tried the other ROMs I downloaded, but I will tomorrow. To start 161 does not work.
Also: I cannot shutdown when in bootloader or MAGDLr, is that correct?
What colour are your call & end key buttons !
if white you have standard EU type model. T-Mobile EU models are same as any EU model & can flash any ROM/Radio
If green & red you have a T-Mobile USA model (TMOUS) & need correct ROM (found in HD2 Wiki)
T-Mobile USA model needs care as if flash wrong radio version you can brick it.
Flashing via SD card should be last choice as first stage of a SD card flash is install of the SPL to standard SPL from the nbh which means you have no CID bypass as HSPL gone.
ideally you need a Windows 7 32bit machine with a known working WMDC setup & try flashing a suitable rom once decided on EU or TMOUS device.
As you have HSPL on your HD2 already it will bypass CID if flash via PC so you can flash any CID code rom.
Try connecting device to PC (with known good WMDC) and use reset button on HD2 to boot to bootloader & see if get any luck in running ROM installer from PC.
If lucky the USB flash issue is PC & drivers rather than hardware on HD2.
I would suspect you have nand issues on HD2 or perhaps worse, if nand sometimes you can get it back if persistent & get something to flash completely.
Thanks MisterB for adds up.
So am I, suspected a nand issue.
The reason I want him to revert back to original SPL & Radio is to make sure that it's a nand related problems, not radio hardware problems.
If he managed to find the correct CID for his phone, he could easily reverts back in case somethings wrong in the future after playing with custom ROMs.
This also happens to my friend's phone a couple months ago.
But in her case, the bad blocks are definitely located where magldr resides, and many more on data partition.
She can flash shipped ROMs completely, but it refuses to boot.
Can't flash a WP7 ROM because magldr freezes when it's loading, can't even bring the menu screen.
She can run a native sd android build for a couple weeks, but then it acting strange again.
Then finally she just gave up and bought another phone.
@andrejazzz:
You can't shutdown on bootloader (3 color) screen.
Remove the battery is the only way to shutdown, or press the reset button to restart.
But you can shutdown/restart or anything else on magldr menu screen.
Press & hold power key right when magldr loads up (before it's start to "go go go").
In addition, you can download WMDC x86 version here, and x64 version here..
He may indeed need try SD flash but I would exhaust all options of USB cable flash via PC first as retaining HSPL will be useful to start with as any generic HTC ROM could be used for the USB cable flash.
If that is not possible then flashing via SD is only viable option & indeed many times only way get over bad boot/nand issues but with all the CID versions for HTC regions & operator branded regions you have a hard job knowing the right one, you could even try the right ROM & as it does not flash overlook it for further testing.
I see he has tried SD flashing but still has HSPL so either SD card is not best suited for nbh flashing or nand/hardware that bad even first stage of flash is not possible.
If I was testing this device & trying recovery I would probably try freezer test to cool device prior flashing & make good effort on USB flash before going on to SD card.
Most well used Android HD2s these days have nand or bga issues to some degree as android works the hardware so much harder than WM6.5.
You really need be sure PC & driver are known good for flashing & if going to SD flashing that SD card is suitable or you will waste a lot of time & effort.
Loads of links & tips for all the software & some threads are in the HD2 Wiki
I apologize for replying so late, but I have had no time: I had a few tests at school
@Mister B: I have a black HD2 with white icons, so I have a european model.
I have installed installed the X86 on a clean 32-bit system, but it does not recognize the phone. I have reinstalled the WMDC on my W7 64-bit system, but still it does not recognize the hd2. I have no other Windows Phones, so I am not able to verify the WMDC-installations.
When I connect to a pc, the phone boots and shows: "Software update failed! Please try again"
@Shadow_Nexus: Correct, that is exactly what happens. I do not completely understand what you mean with "Press & hold power key right when magldr loads up (before it's start to "go go go")", could you please explain?
@Mister B: How could I check if the SD-card might be the problem? It is a 16GB Class 4 Kingston SD. I have tried all the NLD-roms and other versions (random countries, not TMOUS). I have tried the freezer trick with a NLD-rom on a mSD, but it did not work.
Thanks for all your help!
Best using a 2gb or 4gb (8gb max) card for nbh flashing & do a proper fat32 format with something like hp format tool before using it.
link below may help:

Again, thank you very much for your reply. But: do you have any clue what ROM's I should try? I am asking this, because I have already tried all the NLD ROM's I found on the site @Shadow_Nexus gave in post #4, but every one of them returns the same error. Should I switch to another country and try, for example, all German ROM's?
I got my hands on another HD2 and when I connect that one to my pc it show up, named "HTC Sync". The bricked one still does not respond:/ Should I retry all the non-TMO roms I can find?
Edit: My brother "helped" me out and sold the phone...
