Bluetooth issue on GT-I9505 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have a little problem on my new GT-I9505. Bluetooth cannot connect whit my Pioneer sound car. A message about pin error is showed and link fails.
I noticed S4 send a serial key to be confirmed when trying to connect whit other devices like S3. This is a protection but i belive my Sound player can't understand this procedure.
Someone had same issue?
Any suggestions?
Regards

I've got a Sony touchscreen car stereo and mine connected 1st time like usual. I did have to go into settings and initialize bluetooth so it need to pair a new phone

It's the same for whit Galaxy S and S3. Easy connection. But it is been hard on S4, since first time I turned it on.
I've read some reports about Bluetooth issues on Nexus 4 on 4.2.2, too.
Anyway, its weird

Mine connected to my Vauxhall OEM system first time, but I remember my old Pioneer unit being a pain with my S2. I know you can sometimes get a firmware update that you can run by inserting a disc in Pioneer units. May be worth checking with them?

I haven't tried it yet... but you there is an option in the developer options that is in regards to HDCP checking. You might be able to disable it there. (Of course you have to enable Developer Options first). There are also some other fun things in there, like forced 4xMSAA for OpenGL ES titles. Do be careful with what you change stuff though if you aren't used to or don't know what things are.
Thanks. I dont find the disable hdcp option. I have readed it and saw it in other mobiles but not in the shield. Are you sure it must be there? I have Development menĂº enabled.
Thanks

Car dock + fingerprint sensor?

The position of the fingerprint sensor seems to be in conflict with a car dock.. has anyone seen a dock that unlocking the phone wouldn't be a nightmare for? Or some kind of reasonable solution to keep it unlocked once it is in the dock?
Just use smart lock... When connected to car Bluetooth = uses no lock

I think Tasker would be a good solution for this as well.
"If" Bluetooth connect to car
"Then" disable screen lock
My car doesn't have BT.... yet.... need a new headunit lol
NFC tag, put a tag on your car and program it so when you swipe your new phone over it it turns off the screen lock and then swipe it back over it to reengage when you leave the car.

Sorry
An aux port in your car.... Which would allow you to install a Bluetooth easily

Wait wait.... I have an Aux in port in my jetta sportwagen... Are you telling me i can plug something into it to enable Bluetooth capabilities instead of being an entire new head unit?

You need something like this.
http://www.amazon.com/SoundBot-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Wireless-Streaming/dp/B00RH29CJO
I have an Infiniti g35 and it has Bluetooth phone but no Bluetooth audio. It has aux jack in middle console under arm rest. I plugged that in there and let it rest in there close the arm rest and voila, done.
Most modern phones even allow you to connect to multiple bluetooth. So I have original car Bluetooth for phone and that model in link sb360 for audio. As long as it is anything other than a phone call it comes through the aux via the Bluetooth dongle.
Give it a shot. Worth every penny. That one is an example of course.
This dock won't block it. It works great. It's a little tight and tricky to put in with such a big phone (had a Moto X Pure for a short time).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0DL2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01
My dock + bluetooth solution:
CD dock
NFC sticker on the dock (optional)
AUX-Bluetooth dongle
My 2007 BMW's head unit only supports phone call bluetooth (no music) and my AUX port is in my armrest. My Galaxy S3 (soon to be Nexus 6P) is connected to the car's bluetooth for the phone call bluetooth profile & the bluetooth dongle for the music profile. This allows me to stream music to my car and be able to receive/make phone calls via my car's bluetooth.
(sorry can't post links just yet)
This dock won't (shouldn't) cover the fingerprint sensor:
amazon .com/Koomus-CD-Air-Smartphone-Android-Devices/dp/B00HRKI5V2
--I have the smaller version of this currently and it hold my phone solidly. I will be getting this larger one for the 6P.
Bluetooth dongle:
amazon .com/Mpow-Streambot-Bluetooth-Switchable-Transmitter/dp/B00P20TFWM
I have the exact bluetooth puck that rfvreynoso posted (via Amazon) and it works great. I swapped it for another one that had a battery (and could be plugged in) but I found it worked better to have the signal shut off as soon as the car shut off, the battery one didn't do that.. As with others, my car only does phone bluetooth, so I added the puck for streaming audio.
OP does your car have a USB Port?
Just use trusted devices with the Bluetooth, then no need for finger print

I'm not familiar with the mechanics of this, will it auto unlock if it is near that device? If so that seems like a major security hole. If instead it stays unlocked if it has already been unlocked when near that device then that could work.

It remains unlocked while connected to a trusted BT device, and relocks when disconnected!
Very handy if used in the car etc

6p Kenwood Excelon Head Units

Going out on a bit of a limb here, but figured I'd try. Have a 6p on MMB29P and trying to connect via Bluetooth to a Kenwood head unit - model DNX891HD. I can do phone calls just fine. But it doesn't connect A2DP. I've updated all firmware on the unit. 6P connects perfectly to my other car.
Anyone else have this problem or any idea?
It's not quite a show stopper but I do listen to a lot of Spotify through car stereo over Bluetooth.

If you Google it there is a lot off issues surrounding bt
Wow, that's a nice deck, I'm surprised you're having issues with Bluetooth. I've got an Excelon deck and a Sony deck and have no issues with Bluetooth.

Hacking/Mod project - will pay!

Hi all - apologies and please move if in wrong section.
I've had a Roadnav S160 I think it is - (will check the exact model later) for a few months now in my Vauxhall/Opel GTC.
It's both great, as in, it's functional - waze or google maps, google play music functionality, full android meaning more functions than any other products and all the steering buttons work.
However, it's also the slowest steaming pile of cack android device I've ever used. It really is appalling. You can make do because you're driving obviously (press button, wait 30 secs for response), but if this was a phone or tablet it'd be in the bin. Also, the sound quality is worse than the original unit, plus it'd be nice to use the android auto app - it doesn't work on kit kat.
Obviously we all know the reason for this - it's just cheap, low end hardware.
My question is, I've been dreaming recently of my pixel phone hardware being transferred into the unit. All that speed and smoothness and better sound and everything. Literally all that would be retained is the screen.
Is this a realistic project that someone could do? I'd pay a sizeable sum. Can easily justify it because I'm planning on keeping the car another few years.

Why dont you change it for a px5 ?
Do you have universal headunit or specific opel?
Px5 units are octa core ans 2gb ram. They boot from zero in just 20secs but they can be on a sleep state (with a minimum battery consumption) that makes the boot was instantaneous

On the link you have two models with octa core and Android 6.

I've got an Opel one bought from iceboxauto in uk.
And I didn't know about those ones linked - I suppose my only concern is I'm assuming all of these chinese ones look ok on paper, but performance-wise will be disappointing. But it's an option.
Trust me...is night and day.

Maybe in performance, but how is the SQ of these units, that's my biggest grip. I love the fact that they fully functional etc, but then you play any form of music and it's disappointing.
I too would pay to have the chips / processors upgraded, if i could keep the look of the unit as it's car specific.

Easy connect problem with touch screen

I have a samsung note 8 and mi pro 5 and an atoto a6 pro aftermarket car display. I screen mirror from my phone to the display using an USB and the app EasyCon . In easy connect app car display can control touch screen of my phone but when go to navigation app or else where it gives me an error message "Currently does not support the operation of the car display" and I cannot use my display touch screen to control it. It's basically acting like I'm mirroring to a non touchscreen .
Any advice ???

I have a Samsung S20 plus and a Huawei P30 Pro and I get exactly the same problem. But my unit is Xtrons branded. I honestly think "correct me if I'm wrong" it's something to do with Android 10. I never had this when my phones were on Android 9. I will when I get the chance connect a phone with Android 9 and see what happens.
Will let you know over the next few days what happens.

Hmmm. Ok it must be EasyConnect problem. But whether it's on the head unit or phone I don't know.
I will make a backup of the head unit version and roll back to an older version. O never had these problems before. So it could be that the version on the unit itself is the problem. I will also check which version is in my wifes car.
