Going out on a bit of a limb here, but figured I'd try. Have a 6p on MMB29P and trying to connect via Bluetooth to a Kenwood head unit - model DNX891HD. I can do phone calls just fine. But it doesn't connect A2DP. I've updated all firmware on the unit. 6P connects perfectly to my other car.
Anyone else have this problem or any idea?
It's not quite a show stopper but I do listen to a lot of Spotify through car stereo over Bluetooth.

So last night my car was broken into and they trashed my alpine deck and stole my ipod. So today while shopping for a new stereo for my car I tried finding something that would work well with my HTC Hero. I was hoping for something that would bluetooth connect to my phone and access the music on my sim card. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?

I'm on a Pioneer DEX-P99RS Ipod/anything USB.
Works well for me. Just plug in USB and mount it like you do a PC. reads all the tracks and ID3 tag info for you.
Not as fancy as bluetooth, but it works. This head unit maybe a bit high for most people. This was my first Pioneer, I was always an Alpine guy until now. I will never buy another Alpine after hearing this thing.

Depends on the adapter I think. Pioneer offers 2 that will connect through Ibus. I want to say it's just Music on mine, and the other actually has a Mic you can run...I'm in it strictly for the boom and to piss off the cops
I have an "aux in" jack in the console of my car. I just use a male-to-male audio cable. Pandora comes in very handy on long car trips.
oh no. K! Don't go down that road! I'm not saying you don't need a stereo that will hit 130db, but that should be the third or forth thing you worry about! First you gotta take care of your hub caps...are they spinnin' man? ARE THEY SPINNIN?
OP, I had a pretty decent deck that did both voice and music over bluetooth...had a pretty decent little touchscreen on it, too...I'll try to remember what it was and get back to you.

I haven't tried since updating to a 2.1 ROM, but with the stock 1.5 I had lag issues running bluetooth audio to my stereo Moto headset. Mostly when using the radio at the same time, like pandora or if it decided to do a sync. I have an older Pioneer with a 3.5mm headphone hooked up, works amazing for me. Would be interested in finding out if the bluetooth works flawless.
Thinking of getting this one it says it does bluetooth audio streaming
http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_113KDCX994/Kenwood-Excelon-KDC-X994.html?o=v&tp=5684
radios dont support ad2p at least i have yet to find one so u cant stream audio over bluetooth but u can still do 3.5 or usb
Well right here under the General Features it says A2DP support and says yes
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/2008_Car_Entertainment/KDC-X994
in my experience kenwood got very fuzzy at high frequencies.
im hugeee into a2dp and the BEST quality chip is sony.
so ANY sony xplod MEX-BT series are amazingg.
i used to hate sony xplod until i tried the bt audio. i have the low end one i got for like 80 bucks. it only has an aux jack and bt but you cant tell a difference in aux and bt.
(im an audiophile too)
i tried kenwood and quality was lost badly for me. Dual brand is by far the worst bt quality on earth. pioneers were ok but low fidelity with a2dp.
anyways hopes that helps.

Since I drive a jeep with out a top most of the time I bought a brand from wal-mart called "Dual". I haven't ever had much luck with cheapy stereos but this one is pretty good. It does bluetooth, usb, 3.5mm, Ipod control, hd radio. All for 140 bucks, which hurts a lot less than 500 when someone else decides they need your stereo more than you do.

Just bought this myself on eBay for $219 free shipping. Totally worth it, I was able to get rid of my AudioControl EQL equalizer because the sound quality was just that good. I'm having some issues getting 2.1 to remember the pairing, but other than that I can totally recommend the x994 on the merits.

Gotta say I picked up the dual at wally world for like 100. The bluetooth is pretty decent as far as the sound reception goes. Only gripe I have with it is when I would get a call the bluetooth wouldn't pick up but if I would call out then it would. That was before I got 2.1 on my hero. The music plays smoothly though. No connection issues at all either. Plus they are fairly cheap to be had at least if your concerned about that.
Dunno if this was suggested, but my boyfriend got the Sony MEX-BT2800 and I connect my phone to it with little issues. Audio works very nicely, as well as calls, though the built in mic can throw some people off but make sure to switch it from the default low sensitivity to high sensitivity to pick up your voice better (picks up engine noise more but no worse than talking on my BT headset). I really need to get this for my car heh.
I'm not a big sony person but thanks for the information. I'm heading out tonight to go check out and pick up a new unit. What ever I get I will come back and give an update on what I think of it and how it works with my Hero.
Thanks
I wanted to get some community feedback on the Bluetooth drivers for this phone.
I've noticed several times that my jawbone icon will "cut out" for 5 to 10 seconds periodically. Doesn't seem to happen at any consistent interval with no consistent trigger. I've tested the same headset with a nexus s, and a blackberry bold 9300. It works fine with the other 2 phones.
I've also seen my Nexus 4 exhibit the same behavior with my car stereo, a clarion CX 501. It acts like it's buffering a song, no audio, but it definitely isn't my network connection because it's doing it with local content and the song doesn't actually pick up where it left off, it clearly just keeps playing on the phone with no Bluetooth output.
It's probably worth noting that it doesn't actually lose the Bluetooth connection, it just stops transmitting out of nowhere. It still stays paired and connected.
Also mostly unrelated... It doesn't seem to hold a Wi-Fi connection very well when Bluetooth is active.
Anyone else seeing similar behavior?

I currently use a LG-HBS700 bluetooth headphones with the N4 and so far, it's been working great, I've noticed its not so much the bluetooth thats the problem, but certain podcast apps that have trouble responding to the bluetooth controls on my headphones. So far, connection has been really good, I used to get occasional dropped connections with these earphones when connected to my iPhone, but no such issues with the Nexus 4.

That's really interesting. Your experience was the opposite of mine. My nexus s was really great with Bluetooth.
I find it interesting that this was moved to the Q&A section... Just because I asked for impressions and people answered doesn't really mean it's a Q&A thread. Hopefully it'll still get enough traffic here to get accurate impressions.

Stock, but rooted and unlocked. BT at first was not stable. Had to pair and unpair all my devices for it to stick. Only had to do that once and from that point bt have been stable. Using Parrot Neo Minikit speakerphone, also my jabra pro 9470 at work, and using the HTC Stereo clip to stream wirelessly via aux port. No issue now.

Thanks for digging those up! That's awesome. Hopefully there will be something in 4.2.2 that corrects this issue. You really brought some hope to me for this phone. Hi guys,
I was wondering if you guys would have a suggestion of what player to use to play music while driving. I've noticed the sound on the N5 is as loud as on the Iphone, I'm using a FM transmitter, any idea?
Me personally i use poweramp for songs on my device and pandora for everything else. Also...FM transmitters suck you'll never get real good quality....just buy a car stereo with auxiliary...the media ones start as low as $25.

You can still keep them if you know which wires control what. If you go to best buy you can ask one of the guys (or gals) there if its possible.

Take a look at the GROM audio units.
Not sure what the Accord EX-L is compatible with but if it's anything like the Australian Accord Euro (Acura TSX in the states) it should be compatible.
Bluetooth music to the unit and you can change tracks. Pay a little extra and get the mic too.
Definitely Poweramp.

Cubed if you want an easy to use interface on the phone while driving. not been updated in ages tho.
This is literally my only complaint on this phone so far and could very well be an easy fix. Looked around and couldn't find any posts on this.
I upgraded from an S4 to the MXPE. Since the upgrade my Metadata for Google music no longer transfers to my head unit (Sony XAV602BT) in my vehicle. Not all that big of a deal because the controls still work fine off the head unit. But, cmon, who wants to look at a blank radio screen? Least gimme the songs title or a damn album art.
Looking for any ideas or thoughts to get this working.

My headunits (in a 2012 Honda Odyssey, or 2013 Honda Civic or 2012 Toyota Rav4) are all showing the metadatas from both my audio players (player Pro) or my podcast player (PocketCast) when playing from the Moto X over Bluetooth.
Maybe it is an issue with the car or the application used for media playback?

It is happening with my Sony head unit in vehicle and a Denon home audio receiver. The newer versions of Bluetooth should also be backward compatible.

The position of the fingerprint sensor seems to be in conflict with a car dock.. has anyone seen a dock that unlocking the phone wouldn't be a nightmare for? Or some kind of reasonable solution to keep it unlocked once it is in the dock?
Just use smart lock... When connected to car Bluetooth = uses no lock

I think Tasker would be a good solution for this as well.
"If" Bluetooth connect to car
"Then" disable screen lock
My car doesn't have BT.... yet.... need a new headunit lol
NFC tag, put a tag on your car and program it so when you swipe your new phone over it it turns off the screen lock and then swipe it back over it to reengage when you leave the car.

You need something like this.
http://www.amazon.com/SoundBot-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Wireless-Streaming/dp/B00RH29CJO
I have an Infiniti g35 and it has Bluetooth phone but no Bluetooth audio. It has aux jack in middle console under arm rest. I plugged that in there and let it rest in there close the arm rest and voila, done.
Most modern phones even allow you to connect to multiple bluetooth. So I have original car Bluetooth for phone and that model in link sb360 for audio. As long as it is anything other than a phone call it comes through the aux via the Bluetooth dongle.
Give it a shot. Worth every penny. That one is an example of course.
This dock won't block it. It works great. It's a little tight and tricky to put in with such a big phone (had a Moto X Pure for a short time).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0DL2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01
My dock + bluetooth solution:
CD dock
NFC sticker on the dock (optional)
AUX-Bluetooth dongle
My 2007 BMW's head unit only supports phone call bluetooth (no music) and my AUX port is in my armrest. My Galaxy S3 (soon to be Nexus 6P) is connected to the car's bluetooth for the phone call bluetooth profile & the bluetooth dongle for the music profile. This allows me to stream music to my car and be able to receive/make phone calls via my car's bluetooth.
(sorry can't post links just yet)
This dock won't (shouldn't) cover the fingerprint sensor:
amazon .com/Koomus-CD-Air-Smartphone-Android-Devices/dp/B00HRKI5V2
--I have the smaller version of this currently and it hold my phone solidly. I will be getting this larger one for the 6P.
Bluetooth dongle:
amazon .com/Mpow-Streambot-Bluetooth-Switchable-Transmitter/dp/B00P20TFWM
I have the exact bluetooth puck that rfvreynoso posted (via Amazon) and it works great. I swapped it for another one that had a battery (and could be plugged in) but I found it worked better to have the signal shut off as soon as the car shut off, the battery one didn't do that.. As with others, my car only does phone bluetooth, so I added the puck for streaming audio.

I'm not familiar with the mechanics of this, will it auto unlock if it is near that device? If so that seems like a major security hole. If instead it stays unlocked if it has already been unlocked when near that device then that could work.
