Sure. If you can prevent only one customer to buy their ****s, that will be a small victory.:good: but don't expect the sources. I don't know if you are aware of the full story between Sammie and CM devs but quite everything has been made to get these sources and what we finally got is the devs have flown away from Samsung devices...

and therefore we have to give up? look. what did samsung as they found out that thousands of people resetted their custom binary count with the USB jig? right, the built a new bootloader (a year ago, for gingerbread) - therefore: if enough people do something (either good or bad), they will react.
this has to be really big, that over 100.000 of people try it. we are on android, android is linux, linux is open source and we are samsung's customers. they just have to publish that damn code, nothing more.
but if just some cry, nothing will happen. i'm quite active on XDA, so why didn't i read anything of this "flooding" months ago?
let's make another try. then we can at least say that we tried quite much.

This is PM wich i sent to Portal Writer
Hey!
At first, I'd like to sorry for wrong ( incorrect?) title. I came from Samsung Galaxy S2 Forum ( GTI9100 ), and we got a little request. Since few days, we're trying to wake up S2 (S3 , Note Family and whole Exynos CPU 4, 5 in near future if this request is going to work ) community beacuse of no source code.As you may know, Samsung promised us Source Codee over 6/9 months ago, but still no sight of cooperation. We allready started ( again...) spaming Samsung on social medias like FB , Twitter, G+, but for now it's like 5/10 guys wich care about that. After i write that message , I want to talk with people from other Exynos devices. So , could You write an article about this case , or just share these links

this ! <--- THIS !!
I sort of like sense, until the level of the android integration changes, as it's supposed to ˜32 for GB. Last I saw king was sorting it out and testing the wifi stuff.
The issue with all of android development is the "glue" which holds the pieces together. The changes in frameworks (new releases..) necessitates changes in the "glue". So whether it's changes to arguments, changes to calls, changes to tunnels / pipes, semaphores, locks, all these take work. Code does not compile and test itself, yet (lol). So a system integrator, which is what devs do, earns its (non-sexist) keep by using other peoples / coders stuff.
Vision is what all the devs have. Vision to see how the pieces should fit together. So I support his sorry ass, till this site comes to the same realization. I also support others. I fully appreciate their work and effort. How can people expect code for free? F off the devs are entitled to remuneration. Supporters fill the niche of testers, I almost wish the stuff was first given, then issued to supporters. As it is, we test, you benefit, back asswords...
So Kings AOSP rom is in his forum and he has done bunch of stuff to make it work. Decadence, Flipz, Birdman, Hill, Koush, Cyanogen, Amon_RA, Hero_over, KingX, and everybody else who "devs" should be names you remember at this start of a new genera of personal computing. Stories to tell your kids... "see that xxx on the TV, that's my software."
BTW if google is going to compete with MS, it had better start funding.
I am amazed that these people provide stuff, and people have the gall to comment on them, IT'S THE CODE, not the coder.
Amen.
Lotsa small minded folks... gotta coddle em', cajole' em, and hope that the code/Roms themselves take centerstage.. not they're drama.
The site in question requires registration for most downloads and requires donations as well for certain things (aka selling).
I am sorry, but I will have to close this thread.
The Galaxy S ++R.I.P.++ ?
As you all know, Samsung has decided to abandon one of it's most popular childs by not delivering the sacred last Android version to this device.
But this is not the end of the story for this great phone, because the community lives.
There are many valiant people out there that are investing a lot of their free time to bring us the taste of fresh, homemade Ice Cream Sandwich.
Some of them are developers, some of them support development and deployment by providing the required infrastructure, others are committed to "real" testing and many people simple take their time to patiently answer questions, some of which have already been asked hundreds of times before.
And some people simply don't read what is written in the OP of ICS threads (or the previous post(s)). They complain, moan, request, demand, whine, ... to a point where even the most motivated people of the first category start asking themselves if their efforts are worth it.
And then there are thousands of people who can read, who try to find solutions, who know all the secrets of search engines and one never hears of them.
Why, because maybe they have not enough time to help or the questions they could reply to have already been answered hundred of times and certainly most of them do not post in the threads unless they have something useful to say.
This thread is for you guys and girls. If you have already hit the 'thanks' button and if you already donated what you can afford and you still feel like communicating your gratitude without spamming or flooding the development threads, then this is the place to do so.
Any moaning, flaming, blaming, whining and other stupid comments will be reported immediately.
Thanks a lot for your cooperation.
Edit: rephrased the passage above, because there were some misunderstandings...
So I would like to say thank you to all the people I mentioned above.
Even though I am using Onecosmics wonderful ICS RC1 release, I do not forget people from other teams that are investing their free time in the development of ICS on the Galaxy S and related devices.
There is a lot of "parallel evolution" or "cross-species evolution" as biologists say, this means that the teams or individuals are taking inspiration from the solutions found by other teams and integrete the results of it into their own work.
I also want to say thank you to all the people involved in supporting the projects. I am unable to name all of them so if you helped supporting and deploying the releases, this Thanks is for you.

onecosmic rom 4.0.3 rc2.1.1 is supercool

This is 'old' news.
It seems that Samsung will bring some kind of 'value pack update'. Something like an ICS theme on GB
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_to_get_a_value_pack_update_instead_of_ics-news-3583.php
Some more recent news say that Samsung wont even grant us this.
http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2012/0...-deliver-value-pack-for-galaxy-s-smartphones/
Anyway, if one day Samsung will change its mind, then it will partially be due to the fluid ICS roms out there for SGS....

Agreed with donations and the thanks button.
Yet, some may feel that's insufficient and the need to just get a more personal thank you may come across. One specific thread helps with this and can't see harm in it.

Guys and Girls,
The first Galaxy S is working great on ICS. My self using Teamhacksung Build 12 now, started with build 10 and have just a few minor problems, but these problems are caused by the installed apps that cannot work fully on ICS yet. Hope that they will be upgraded soon.

You should consider that Samsung updated the phone for a long time, and gave it two major updates. I don't think there are many other companies who update longer than that. In fact, the only android devices that get really all the updates until they can't handle it anymore are the Google phones. And then you should ask yourself: do you really care SO much about getting updates all the time? If that is so, you are forced to buy a Google nexus.
Yes, it's sad that Samsung are not the angels that we thought they were. But anyone ranting that they'll never buy a Samsung phone again should get real. Really no offense, but Samsung is a company. And a company lives not only from happy customers. It lives from happy customers that buy their new products, and so they have to add exclusive features. And 2 years of updating is fair enough for me.

Dear El Aidge,
I hope you felt better after writing the above post.
I must congratulate you on your realistic assessment of Samsung as a company. I do agree entirely with you.
But next time you post in this thread, may I kindly ask you to stay on topic? This tread is not about bashing nasty Samsung or whining.
My intention was to offer the Galaxy S ICS users a place where they can say thanks to the community without flooding dev threads and without being annoyed by people that feel the need to play teacher...
Have a nice day and enjoy your Galaxy on ICS.
I want to say thanks you at all the people who participe at the ics developpement , thanks you to do that, and thanks you to share with us.

Ok I watched the following go down last night; Epinter edited his ICS rom leak posting from full of info and a download link, to " .. " and only that at 5:22 PM PST. This was followed by a few people commenting at the end of the thread "what happened/where are you?" to which Epinter replied (thumps up) "still here". That was about 8pm PST, and as of right now 6 am PST the following day, all of Epinters posts from the past 4 days have been deleted until the 7th.
Was Motorola employee information leaked in the leak we've been using?
Lets discuss, because now the record is gone. At the end of the thread 6 hours ago someone mentioned that a sanitized version will be coming, but I couldn't verify if that was either true, or even the problem to begin with.
Is Epinter in trouble with the notoriously stupid and arrogant Motorola?
If there was ever a company to forgot the rule of the internet, that once it's on the internet it's out there forever, it would be Motorola. I can verify for a FACT that Motorola watches this forum. I have spoken to nvidia executives, when they were toting development atrixes in summer of 2011, they WATCH xda, and occasionally use it; I have in the flesh verified this, they aren't morons and they know their resources. I think we might have stepped on some toes here, because Motorola is wickedly insecure about their IP, look at their recent lawsuits and blatent tech-grab acquisition by Google. They want us to buy their damn Razr M on Verizon, and not the continued usage of our phones, just look at the locking down of bootloaders, followed by waving $100 Verizon vouchers followed by killing ICS. It's like their not just giving us the middle finger, their trying to pry into our wallet, because we (everyone here at XDA) all need smartphones, why does Motorola have to make this such a painful experience...
Figured something like this would happen. Not a Dev so I kept out of the discussion but it seems that some entity with some parts in the file objected to its presence on XDA and it had to be taken down. I hope this doesn't mean the end to dev on this as I would love to have my atrix back.
Hopefully it will surface in the underground and be available to underground atrix network.

Usually a leak happens of an unofficial build that is going to be released officially at some point. This leak made moto look particularly bad because it was a partially finished update that they canned, most likely to get people to upgrade their phones. I find it hard to believe that moto didn't have EVERYTHING to do with the thread being deleted. We need to hope that our xda devs aren't in any real (aka legal) trouble over this.

If you want me I can find you many posts on XDA threads submitted by very active members with very high number of 'Thanks' that were adamant Motorola didn't read comments on XDA, as if it was a degrading act. I have always suspected these members actually work in the benefit of companies, yes these people can represent multiple companies at same time because these people are actually employed by companies you and I never heard about before. Similar companies have previously been exposed after tweet followers scandal.
Let me summarise Motorola in a short sentence or two. Mexican Drug Cartels conduct business with their customers more professionally than Motorola ever did. Mexican Drug Cartels are brutal to disloyalty whereas Motorola's core business is based on disloyalty.

Guys : if for any reason, the development for that rom is banned from xda (which I doubt...you know, democratic freedom), I will be coming up with a forum to host the devs work and discussion right away, if needed.
It would be nice to know what's going on so nobody else gets in trouble. Hiding what is going on, removing threads and deleting leaked ROMs is not the way of XDA.

Don't blame xda here. Judging by how abrupt and quick this was, I don't think they were asked politely. I'm betting the involved parties got a C&D from motorola. That's why you're not seeing anyone involved in this posting more details.
I opened same toppic in S3 & S2 General Forum also in here make support.
Hi there friends. I have n7000 Galaxy Note like everyone in that forum. Last year i bought that phablet that were flagship device they gived updates but now?
Maybe Galaxy s3 & N7100 Note 2 phone owners are happy for their updated phones. But next year things will be different many people gived too much money for their phones like us but next year same problem they will say in here. Thats also for you also for us.
Push samsung spam their pages.

Then grow up. Spamming Samsung will do nothing but get you ignored.

People have tried that loads of times with Exynos 4. It's pointless.

Samsung didn't care about the S2 petition, they didn't care about the S3 petition. What makes you think they'll care now? They have their billions of dollars, their millions of continuous buyers not caring the least what's inside their Samsungs.

I suggest you guys dampen down the enthusiasm for this reason.............This exact same scenario was played out for the s3, it caused huge amounts of friction, had senior moderators crawling all over the thread and eventually it got locked anyway.......reason?.............it was damaging relationships between XDA and Samsung due to some extremely distasteful spamming of Samsung sites.
You are dealing with an Asian culture that values respect and manners far more than most European countries.....and many people forgot that.
Also the number of people that care about source code is minimal compared to the general sales figures, so a flea bite from a few developers really won't make an impression.
If you wanted development you should have bought the Snapdragon......simple research would have shown you that....(yes,I appreciate you have to have exynos in some countries....such is life)
This is just a bit of food for thought from prior experience....... and to hopefully help try and avoid the repeat of what has happened in the past which resulted in several infractions,a lot of bad feeling and general carnage.
Ps. Don't shoot the messenger
MeThinks Samsung is going the iPhone way in keeping the phone at its STOCK best. They do not want anyone tinkering with the phone, hence they are not releasing the Sources.
The reason is best known to Samsung and seeing the futile efforts in S2 & S3, we dunno if it will bear fruitful results.
If you wanna get everything ready then get I9505/I9505G and pretend to be a cool developer by exercising in compiling. You can toss icons and pictures to make your own "unique" CM or AOSP
If you wanna get something to mess with and be a real developer - buy I9500 and make CM/AOSP through good old hacking like it was with SGS2 and SGS3.
I remember time of Windows Mobile where enthusiasts couldn't even think about source code. Some leaked datasheets were the best additions for hacking. IDAPro and Hex Editors were best friends. Today, if you have no source code then it's full stop.
Theshawty i've read your reply before. You totally misunderstood what i've said. I fully respect to team hacksung and to what they did. They refused to explore Octa SoC and it's their decision. But the original idea behind device hacking remains the same - if you are interesting to make something new - then you will try anyway.
Compiling AOSP which already works on I9505 - not interesting and boring - everyone can do this.

Only the kernel is. They can do whatever they wish with the sources and documentation for their SoC.

Hmm... the petition was not successful in case of S2... another petition was not successful in case of S3... but who knows, maybe if you ask not for petition but petion, Samsung perhaps would disclose the cernel sorse kode?
