Thought I would start this thread to gather new information on availability of the Leo. I have been told the earliest date for the Leo on O2 is November 2nd, but no pricing information. T-Mobile is 5th/6th November £35 and free handset on an 18th month contract. So post anything else you might here - here.
Romania - 15 november, about 620 EUR , unlocked and contract free.
Switzerland, 13 november, 763 CHF -> 504 €, unlocked and contact free.
The UK unlocked version should start arriving from the 11th and will be £500 to £550 (including VAT).
Denmark, 6 November, ~580 euro, unlocked and contact free.
I spoke to O2 yesterday, 22-10-09 and she told me they will be available to order on Monday 26Th october. I told her that a number of other sources gave later release dates, but she stuck to her guns and said Monday.....They`ll be getting my call on Monday then..!!!!

Seriously would love it if true - but I doubt it! Either way I will be on the phone meself on Monday
expansys have it at £549 (with £30 of vouchers) but the release date continually varies between 11th and 14th November. I ordered mine from them as soon as I saw it on their site. bit more expensive than others, but I've had a few phones from them and they always seem to get them as early as everyone else, whereas some retailers lag behind the delivery curve a little
You can find the several UK prices here.
http://www.powerupmobile.com/tariffs-2-684.htm
The lowest is at the moment 486.43 pounds.
So just a thought from one compulsive early adopter
All,
This does look like a very interesting phone, so long as it isn't too big in size.
We will all need to get use to a new finger language and most likely some of our applications will not actually work effectively (due to lack of a stylus).
Now about the price...Well as a compulsive early adopter I have been prone to buying most of the HTC devices on first day - through preorder, import (expansys) or some means.
This time it may be worth not dipping into my rainy day money for about 3-4 weeks.
We are on the cusp of an iPhone pre Christmas war. I suspect it is going to turn ugly out there with all the new vendors and their retail subs viciously slashing prices and offering cashbacks etc.
I don't want an iPhone (I currently have two 3GS phones for evaluation and they are just bland to me). I want a cheaper HTC HD2.
If I wait just a few weeks I expect to see a downward pressure begin to build on all other device prices as the Christmas fight begins.
And those non iPhone devices will drop in perceived value as the mass of the great dirty unwashed make a rush to get an affordable iPhone (they will all want to show how cool they are - but after Christmas when they all show each other their iPhones they will realise... well... actually they are not cool anymore)
So I will continue to live life to the full and just for a few weeks sit on my hands and then pick one up in the pre Christmas rush, hopefully around £100 cheaper.
All the best,
The Pianist
Have been told the same this afternoon, but the lady was a little bit more cagey. She said that they might have them on Monday to order but not to hold my breath. Same as before really.
well, that will be the cheapest price for people like me from outside of EU countries. in handtec, it states 432GBP. no need to pay VAT. clove is 439GBP.
Slovakia - 11 - 16 November, about 596 EUR , unlocked and contract free.
Got mine on order, from Micro-P , should get it on the 11th/12th Fingers crossed....

Be very very wary of deals like this. I contacted a gentleman a couple of weeks ago with a similar "bargain" for the Omnia 2. After getting further into it, they would only accept payment via Western Union (which you should never do). When I asked whether I could collect in person (they were based out of a normal surburban semi going by their post code) and pay in cash they said they didn't accept cash and would still require me to pay by Western Union. I obviously did not take them up on the deal

Even wholesale price is more expensive.. Carefull what you do, but if in any case you lose ur head and decide to try it out anyways, put me in the list of buying one of the 'free' ones u get
I don't get paid until the 2nd. That is when I'll get my Epic. Will the price drop any more than 199.99 you guys think? The trend of the other 2 Galaxies on the other carriers have gone down to 1 cent.
If I buy from Amazon, and it goes down in price within a few days or a week, will Amazon honor a price adjustment? Because if they didn't, can't I just get a refund and then order it again, but just to save the trouble, they will give me a "price adjustment" like any other store, right? Anyone familiar with Amazon return policy? I just want to know, I'll probably research it myself, but its almost certain I'll buy from Amazon, since its the lowest price around.
Also, do they charge the tax? At the Sprint store they charge you the tax of the original price of $500, can I avoid the tax or just be taxed off the 199.99 price? Anyone familiar with purchasing on Amazon please help me with these questions, thanks, and hope all you early birds come on here to notify us of any major issues, etc.
As you can tell, I'm very tight on money, but I can afford the monthly cost of owning the Epic, are there any other ways to save money? One of the 3rd party local Sprint stores told me they can get me 25% off my bill every month for the duration of my contract. How do they do it? Is it a PROMO code they run into the system when I go through them? Is it possible to get this promotion myself through Amazon? Anyone know? Thanks.
Have a good weekend
The price might drop after the release. However since the epic appears to be shipping a few weeks after release I suspect the price won't drop for at least a month or 2. Even if it did, you cannot return and rebuy the phone. This is because if you returned the phone you would need to return it, cancel your sprint contract, and then restart. However there is a 90 day waiting period after canceling before you would be eligible for the new contract phone prices.
As for tax, they don't seem to charge it in many states. However phones may be different. I am not 100% sure on this.
Also I don't know what 25% discount they were refering to for you. Most of those are employer discounts. e.g. teachers get 15% off monthly, sears employees get 25% off, etc. If you are a student you can get 15 or 25% off through studentrate.com and they are still taking phone preorders and though the up front cost isn't amazing, the overall price is $175 for the phone and you get a free car charger or invisible shield I think.
so are you saying if i order thru amazon they won't ship it to me RIGHT AWAY?! Oh gosh, thats a bummer, you're saying I have to wait a few weeks? What about studentrate.com? Are they shipping right away once it hits the 31st??

This is false, there is a zero day policy for returning equipt dropping a line and opening up a new line with the same phone I did it about 3 weeks after I got my Evo and got another Evo from a different store since the manager at a Shack wanted to be a douche and not swap out my Evo when it clearly had screen separation issues. I cancelled the whole darn thing and there was nothing he could do about it then got my money back went into a different store and got a new Evo and another line activated at full discount.

That's odd. Entropism I believe, who claims to have been a sprint repair technician and is now a sprint sales consultant said there is a 90 day wait, and the wait it tied to your SSN for when they do a credit check, so if you had a contract with sprint and cancelled it, you'd have to wait 90 days for the full new customer discount. Oh well, the internet is full is misinformation.

Maybe that only applies to people who have been with sprint 30 days or longer. I don't think they would refuse someone who is brand new because they cancelled their initial contract for whatever reason.
Sent from a FRESH EVO using xda app
When I cancelled my Evo in mid-July, I told the Sprint representative handling the cancellation that I was going to wait for the Epic, and specifically asked if the cancellation would be held against me, and he said not at all.
I guess I'll find out for sure on Tuesday!
My guess is that if there is such a rule, it applies to cancellations outside of 30 days while on contract, and perhaps to cancellations off contract as well. In either case, it would appear that the way to get around that is to open the new line first, then cancel the old one. Surely they can't retroactively change the price of the device once you've purchased it, right!
Hey everyone,
I hope someone can answer this question for me. Ive played an order from Clove already and they'll have phone in stock on May 1st and will ship on the 3rd. I landed upon Handtec just today and they say they'll receive stock on 27th of April and ship the next day. So ofcourse... I'm thinking about cancelling from Clove and just ordering from Handtec.
Question here is if anyone knows whether cancelling from Clove will be a problem if I just send them an email and ask them to do so? And in the meantime Ill just place order on Handtec right away. I've emailed clove to cancel already but before placing an order on Handtec I thought i'd just ask here. Main reason I'm wanting to know now instead of waiting for a response is because Handtec says they still have stock from first batch available so I wanted to get in on that.
Thanks in advance!
FYI... I had a TON of trouble ordering from Handtec. Unlike most web sites, like Amazon.co.uk, HMV, and many others... even AFTER Handtec had charged my credit card for the Samsung Galaxy S II, they insisted I provide a copy of my driver's license, a business card with the business address (since that was where I wanted the phone sent, so they could sign for delivery, etc.), and more. After two weeks of trying to make them happy, they STILL wanted more information. I indicated I'd NEVER had to give so much info in the past, and if they couldn't ship my order with what I'd sent... I wanted my money back. They cancelled the order within 30 minutes, and I'm stuck waiting for a credit and not expected the 32GB phone I'd ordered.
Frankly, I've never had such terrible service and I'd suggest sticking with Clove for the couple days difference.
oh really? that bad huh? someone told me that clove is great with service so they'll cancel just fine. so.. I already ordered from Handtec. I hope this doesnt happen because the difference is basically a week (April 28 vs March 3) considering that march 7/8 will be weekend so I wont get it till the week after.
im having it delivered to my house which has same address as paypal, billing, and delivery so hopefully there wont be as many problems.
I wonder if its better to just tell Clove to not cancel anything and instead just cancel with Handtec right away?
I got my HTC Desire from them a year ago, it went perfectly and the phone arrived the day before it was expected (1 day after it was released).
are you in UK or international though? and are you talking about handtec?
I cancelled Clove on Thursday and ordered from Handtec. Clove acknowledged they will cancel via email. The email was a little odd, said they had already charged my card and it will take 4-5 days for the refund to appear, but probably just a generic email since it was a pre-order and they hadn't charged my card yet.
I'm hoping I don't have any ordering issues with Handtec. I don't mind providing card statements for proof of address if required. For Handtec, I paid with AMEX via PayPal. I'm hoping they take the address being the same as my PayPal address as "proof of ID". I did get a PayPal confirmation of payment in addition to Handtec's.
i did the same, paid with paypal so all 3 adresses are exactly the same. i emailed clove again and asked them not to cancel just yet, ill wait for a response from handtec first. Also cause i added a few accessories to the handtec order and seems like none of the accessories are available during launch ... so i guess they'll probably ask me to pay shipment later for accessories which im fine with.. just as long as it doesnt delay the phone's shipment.
thanks for your response by the way, now i dont feel too bummed out about ordering from handtec
i'm really tempted to do the same and cancel my clove order.
one week earlier + savings of about 15 pounds. hmmmm
Edit:
can't
resist
went ahead and ordered with handtec as well. I'll keep my clove order there until the 28th. If that bad boy ships from handtec, i'm cancelling my clove order right away.
I'm going to call Handtec in the morning and make sure it'll be in the first batch of shipments, specifically the ones shipping out on 29th. I'll post here with what they tell me.
edit: heh good idea, ill keep my clove order till 28 or so as well
Sorry, yes, that was Handtec, to a residential address (same address as payment was from). I am in Northern Ireland so it is part of the UK, but deliveries often take a day longer than on the mainland. It was shipped on the day it was released, so the equivalent of 27th April, and delivered the next day.

This is standard procedure many stores follow if you are first time customer with them.
Even clove will tell you to provide 2 address proofs for international orders for the first time. (same address that is on file with CC bank / company ).
But dealing with clove was butter smooth. Last year I had ordered from them couple of times. But they verified my documents the same day and shipped the order on time. Second time, nothing was needed.
Most companies do this to protect themselves. Retailer / etailer is always at higher risk of chargebacks in case of frauds. They tend to play safe (unless you are as big as amazon ) as dealing with chargebacks is PITA.
So looks like Handtec isn't that bad after all then. Awesome.
I'm on the same boat and am seriously contemplating ordering from Handtec. But from all the positive experience people have had from Clove, I'm a bit reluctant to switch over. Especially since Handtec has been pretty uncertain in emailing me their proper ETA dates
For those that know, are these two companies pretty much even? Or is one more reputable than the other?
With the cheaper phone price and earlier delivery, I'm tempted but something is telling me Clove will do the business. After all, a week difference between the two is huge and it's telling me somethings missing. Perhaps Clove may very well ship earlier than expected.
I just can't see how Handtec, at a cheaper price and earlier delivery, still has open orders for the first batch. Isn't this phone supposed to be da bomb in ridiculous demand?
well what i'm doing is keeping the clove preorder for now, if handtec actually ships when they're saying they will... then ill cancel clove right away. otherwise ill cancel handtec's. Also i got an email response from Clove saying they will be shipping starting May 3rd (so not before that) and someone mentioned somewhere earlier that ... they're not supposed to be released til 1st may but that if Handtec ships them on 29th, people wont get them til May 1 anyway so they're not breaking any release date rules.
anyway i'll contact handtec in the morning and see what they say.
I'm just stressing more than I should about this. If Clove is aware of their competitors shipping at an earlier date and having their customers cancel their pre-orders because of it, wouldn't they want to do something about it?
For me, Handtec's offer is too good to be true. Sure it's logical to put in two pre-orders and cancel the other one. But is there a chance it may backfire? Perhaps there's a change in shipping date to either site and then it turns out one ships a day before the other and it'll be too late to cancel.
well ill wait till 28 or 29 and see what happens with handtec, if nothing ill cancel and keep my clove order. otherwise.. if handtec does ship that day then awesome, i get it a week earlier. clove doesnt seem to have any indication that they will be shipping before 3rd, they said there's a holiday or something which is why they arent shipping on 1st or 2nd.
edit: also clove's site says that you can cancel a pre order anytime before it ships AND that if the shipment date has changed they will confirm with you if you want to go ahead or not. so having said that if they change from may 3rd to earlier they'll notify.. if not then there it is.
has anyone tried talking to clove and figuring out why theyre waiting till may 1st, when handtec is sending theirs out 27/28th? clove should move up their date..
i am a bit worried, i have ordered it from handtec & i have used a friends credit card to do so & my delivery address is at my home, we both live in different cities & I dont know what handtec will do @ security check!!
i dont want them to delay my shipment because of that
It would be advisable to call them and speak to them directly. I wouldnt state that you have used a credit card on a different person's name but would confirm the status of your order and the shipping address.
Ask them whether if "All Izz Well"?
I originally ordered two GSIIIs via a phone rep, but the geniuses at the AT&T warehouse forgot to include my apartment number on the air bill. As such, the phones could not be delivered (since this was a restricted package, UPS would not allow AT&T to add my apartment number to the package) and were sent back to the returns center in Ft. Worth, where they were received yesterday. In the meantime, I purchased the phones at a local AT&T store (should have done this from the beginning) and waited for the package to be delivered to the returns warehouse to receive my refund.
Since the phones were received yesterday morning, I logged into my AT&T account and chatted with a rep regarding the refund time frame. She informed me that it takes 5-7 business days to process a return, which is totally acceptable. However, I nearly fell out of my chair when the rep stated that it may take 1-2 billing cycles (1-2 months) for the money to appear in my account. I explained to the rep that I used a debit card to pay for the original order, and that there are no billing cycles associated with it. She stated that it's still treated like a credit card and it will take the same amount of time.
Can anyone confirm this? If worst comes to worst, I'll have to wait, but having to wait 1-2 months to get my money back ($435 is not exactly a small chunk of change) a little extreme, especially since it takes 5-7 days to process the return.
I believe if your debit card has the visa logo or something similar on the bottom right that is completely true and the rep wasn't lieing to you.

I think you can file a claim with Visa, they will reimburse your money and take it up directly with ATT. My wife would know more and if I get a chance I'll bug her about it later this evening.

Yeah, my bank's debit cards have the Visa logo on them. I'm going to call customer service and see if I they can do anything to expedite the refund, especially since it was their error to begin with. I've returned purchases made with my debit card to other vendors and received prompt refunds. AT&T already got their phones back, so there is absolutely no reason why I should have to wait that long to get my money back.

Thanks for the info. I may take it up with my bank also.
I sent mine back for an exchange (had a defective unit) and I was told they issue a credit within 1-2 business days once they receive the equipment. But, they added the banks usually put a 1-2week hold on the funds when it comes to debit cards. I was dealing with the eCommerce (I purchased online through att.com) folks at AT&T. I sent mine back last week via USPS and the warehouse has still not received the device so I don't know for sure how it will work out.

Last night, I received an e-mail from AT&T, confirming that the returned phones were processed and the refund was authorized. The e-mail states that a refund will be issued back to the original form of payment (in my case, my debit card) within 5-7 business days. Once the refund is issued, it "will appear on your credit card account in the next few days (varies by merchant) or AT&T Wireless statement within one - two bill cycles."
Based on the above, it seems that the live chat rep slightly misinformed me (probably unintentionally). If the refund was issued to my AT&T monthly bill, it would take 1-2 billing cycles to appear. However, this doesn't appear to apply to debit/credit card refunds. As I've mentioned previously, I've had money refunded to my debit card in the past, and it usually appeared in my account as soon as the refund was issued. I guess the hold policy depends on the bank.
With regards to your device, do you have the tracking/delivery confirmation number for the shipment? If yes, what's the current status?
The last update was Friday the 13th. It states "picked up by the shipping agent".
But, I just received the same email as you from AT&T this afternoon.

I used to work in an att call center(sales/ccare)and we are supposed to tell the customer it can take up to 2 billing cycles for the funds to be refunded back your account, however it NEVER takes this long, I have never seen it take long before.
I've never paid for insurance on any of my prior Android phones, and never needed it. But after seeing too many cracked screens, I decided maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for the Edge. Turned out to be a good decision. Five days after signing up I dropped my phone face down on gravel and cracked the right side of the screen very badly. Over the next several days, the cracks spread about 3/4 of the way across the face of the phone.
Anyway, I filed my claim online on a Sunday evening. About an hour later I had an email stating my claim had been approved and I would get another email when my replacement shipped. Monday, no email. Tuesday, no email. Wednesday morning I get a call telling me they had none in stock so they were sending me a check for the full retail value of the phone. OK, that's cool, but I wish they hadn't taken 2 days to figure it out. The check was sent Fed Ex next day, and arrived Thursday.
Wednesday afternoon I bought a new Edge. Since I was buying retail, I had to pay sales tax. I emailed the insurance company back and asked them to reimburse me for that cost. They told me to send them a copy of the receipt, so I scanned and sent it by email. Two days later I had another check for the tax, also sent FedEx next day.
While I wish they had processed the initial claim a little faster, overall I'm very happy with the service. And since I only had to send back the broken phone, I now have an extra charger, cable, headphones, and SIM tray pin.
