Hey I just bought a nexus 4 (coming from a gs2), cutted my sim to microsim and everything is working flawlessly, but I can't send sms. I just can receive them. I tried all methods that I've seen on xda and others forums and it didn't worked. My carrier is TIM BRAZIL and I don't know more what to do. If someone know anything to help me, please.
I have no idea if this will help, but it might. I had problems sending SMS to my mom. After sitting down with her phone next to mine and troubleshooting for 30 seconds, I just put the area code on her number in my contacts, then she started getting my messages. It was weird because I would receive her messages all the time, but she wouldn't be getting mine at all. I usually have the area code for all of my contacts, and for some reason not hers. I didn't think it would make a difference because we are in the same area code, but apparently it did.
I fixed it. I called to my carrier and they fixed the problem that I thinked were on my nexus 4. Thanks.

Folks, I just switched from Iphone 4 to a Galaxy S4 and now i'm not getting any texts from Iphone users, I can send to them but when they try to reply or just send me one it says "Not Delivered", I've played with the Imessage settings some in my Iphone but obviously i'm not doing something correctly, can anyone help me out here?
I think you need to login to Apple and de-register your phone
This will "inform" iMessage to send message as SMS and not iMessage
Exactly what he said ^

Turn off iMessaging entirely. I just swapped from iphone to gs4 on saturday. I made the same error and missed messages until I shut it off. Any friends that don't have your number and only use imessaging will need to put your number in.

keep us posted. a lot of good people on here willing to help. cheers.
I had this problem when I switched from an iPhone. Reading through the post here I see that they have answered your questions. You do have to turn off iMessage on the iPhone, and if you have an iPad, you gotta disable that number on the iPad as well. If you don't have either of the devices anymore and they have been reset, then iMessage on the iPhone should automatically switch to SMS instead of iMessage. Hope this helps.
I have not had a chance to do much the last few days but just quickly I tried turning Imessage off and then inserting the LTE Sim into the Galaxy S4, I have not reset my iphone though, I sent my coworker a message and he got it, he tried replying it said "not delivered", then he initiated a new message, not replying from one I had sent him, and he sent me a picture and it actually came thru, also I sent my wife a message to her Iphone and she is not able to reply nor initiate a new message to send to me. That is so strange, tomorrow afternoon I am going all out and will factory reset my iphone and see if that seems to help. By the way I signed out of my Apple ID and also disabled Imessage and this is all still going on.
will report later tomorrow if it helps factory resetting iphone.
Thanks again for all the replys.
F**king apple.
Folks, since I love gadgets I just purchased a week old HTC One and of course its doing the same thing by not getting texts from Iphones. I've signed out of my apple account and turned of Imessage and still the same things happen. Does it matter that i'm using Straight Talk even though I have the newest ATT LTE sim card?
Thanks
I don't know if this is the solution or not but I have finally gotten texts from iPhone users, on my wife's iPhone I went under Settings, messages and then turn on Send As SMS, this has worked for 3 folks with iPhones texting me tonight.
One more question , does the HTC One need to be rooted or unlocked in order to send pictures? I tried sending one a little while ago and it did not go.

I went to the Apple store today and asked about your issue (had to go there for a warranty swap for an iPad and remembered your question). They told me you could call Apple at (forgot number) and they can disable it for you. That seems easy enough doesn't it? If you try it and it works please let me know!

No need to root to send pictures/mms just set your carrier APN settings correctly in settings and voila!

Hey there!
Okay, this has totally it stumped me. I have a Nexus and loved it so I went on to purchase my fiance one as well. I bought this device off craigslist s
and when I first start up the phone it has a lock(or unlocked) symbol on the bottom of the Google load screen. That's the first thing that struck me as odd. Mine did not start up like this. I have a feeling the person I purchased this phone from had rooted the device, bricked it, then flashed android 4.2.2 back on the device before he sold it to me.
Now, I can put any SIM in the phone and it will not recognize them. I tested the SIM cards in my Nexus and they work perfectly fine. Also, I'm using Straight Talk and have even tried putting my old T-Mobile SIM which the service had yet to be terminated and still nothing. Can someone tell me what I may do to fix this? I can't find much information on the subject elsewhere.
Thanks so much!
Can you get in bootloader mode? Has it got a radio displayed there?

Go to settings>about phone>status and see if it shows an IMEI number. If it doesn't, you got duped.

Today I noticed my Nexus 4 has no signal. Things I have tried included:
Rebooting the phone multiple times
Turning on roaming and resetting APN
Checking the sim card
Switching sim cards with my brother, in which my phone was not working with his sim card either. I guess this mean's the problem is my phone.
I bought the phone on Craigslist about 3 months ago in October of last year. Seller seemed reliable. Gave me her phone number and was willing to make the transaction in a public place in front of cameras.
My brother and I have both been using T-mobile before their big contract cancellation reimbursement offer.
I still have an IMEI number
So does anyone know what's the problem with this and how I can fix it?
Have you phoned you're carrier and made sure the phone hasn't been reported stolen or missing as you would still have an IMEI number but that number would be turned off all mobile networks.
If its not been reported and you have tried everything you say like APN e.t.c its probably a hardware fault.
Have you tried phoning her to make sure her numbers legitimate and weather she knows of any possible problems ?.

According to T-mobile tech support, the previous owner stopped making payments to pay off the phone so now it's shut off.
You won't be able to get the phone back on data then unfortunately.
I also think 3 months is to long to open up a dispute with PayPal ( if you paid via them).
You can try contacting her for help.
If not you will have to put it down as a mistake you won't do again.
Feel sorry for you though.

Got a mms problem. Will not send pics or video. Phone is an AT&T 1337 s4 at MK2 on 4.3. Apn settings are confirmed correct as my mom has an identical phone and used to compare against. Searched and tried several possible solutions with no luck. Any ideas short of a factory reset?
Fixed.

I am having the same issue. It is not consistent, for me. Yesterday, my daughter sent a pic. I replied, she sent another. It didn't come through. Her husband sent me two pics, one the night before and one around the time she sent the second. Neither of his came through. This happens to one of my other daughters, who has the HTC One. She can't get pics ever from the other daughter. The other daughter and son-in-law have Verizon, one Moto, one LG.
I decided to contact AT&T, and because I pay the extra, they remote connected to my phone, reset the APN, double checked other settings, and they sent through a few pics. I told her I never have problems with other family members on AT&T. She told me to ask my daughter to resend. She did and it came through .
I hung up, happy. An hour later, my son-in-law sent another picture. It failed.
I called AT&T again. The rep told me the issue is not with AT&T or my phone, the issue was with their phones.
And thus we have the3 classic "finger pointing" quagmire, where the consumer is stuck in the middle of two competing companies who want to blame the other for failure that we do not have the ability to trace, i.e., we can't see all the steps in between on their networks/equipment.
So what do we do?
If I remember correctly my problem was with running an app called freedom. Left it open and rebooted the phone and forgot about it. I've since learned to stop the app before closing it.

Hi guys, so I have a question about a note 3 that i bought recently from someone and there is an issue with it. When I put my sim card in, it says not registered to network but I have signal bars. Anyways, I did some research around but all the solutions seem to have been for ROOTED phones and how to fix it with rooting.
This phone is not rooted right now so I wonder if the issue is that the phone was rooted before, after a factory reset, the unregistered sim issue was caused? I still have an IMEI number so I don't think that is the issue. If anyone can help give me a solution, that would be great! I just got my note 3 so I don't really know the hang of what's going on on XDA for this phone.
I had a nearly similar issue on Saturday, but it was due to Orange changing my number over from my old sim which I was using to a new one that I had not used, but was deliveered with the phone the week before. Maybe get in touch with your provider?
