Im not sure but I think there is a 15 day period where u can take it back over anything.... like say dissatisfaction. .
They only charge the restocking fee if you get a different phone like a HTC One or a Blackberry ect..
As long as you are exchanging it for another S4 in the same color there is no restocking fee within the 1st 14-days

Does AT&T charge the restocking fee if I want to exchange my S4 for another one? I'm noticing muffled calls in a full signal area and other people claim to not be able to understand me, with or without a case. I wouldn't think they would charge a restocking fee but I haven't had to exchange a phone in years. Can anyone shed some light on this?

i noticed this a little bit also but i changed the sound settings for in call via the EQ and it made a big difference and you can also enable sound boost (all done while a call is active)
but if your still in grace period just swap it out for peace of mind

An in-store exchange for a defective product should be no issue. Good luck.

that's why I hate how at&t operates because if you buy a phone and it doesn't work properly or its a manufacturer defect then they charge you a ****ing restocking fee? Do they not know what the word restock means? ex. if you switch for the s4 again they dont charge you,yet they are still restocking it but if you switch to the one they charge you 35?

Just thought I'd share, today I got a call from sprint. They wanted to know if I wanted some 3rd party charge for a ringtone on my line. Well, I have never and would never pay for a ringtone so someone is pulling a fast one.
When I asked how this happened the csr said I most likely signed up for it, and I said so why are you verifying it then. I can never understand these sprint csr's so we ended the call.
I think I won't get charged and I shouldn't be in the future. I would love to know how theses things happen.

I get $9.99 a month charge almost every month for my chase bank alerts
I call each time and ask why... they have no answer and reverse the charge..
Although sprint cs is lame. I've had US celluar, AT&T, verizon and they all stink!
I had some strange changes on my line too. The CSR was quick to reverse them for me and told me that there are some text messages that you can receive and unless you respond to them that you do not want their service, they will sign you up. It is a forced, opt-out thing. I hate that I have to watch my bill every month.
this just happened to me this month, had 2 charges at 9.99 a piece..no idea where they came from but sprint got rid of them and blocked the numbers or watever they do...kinda pissed me off...should we start running antivirus software like a dang PC now ???
Sprint takes huge hits on these. The charges aren't reversible in most scenarios. Sprint just covers the loses for them. Most of the sms charges by 3rd party companies are irreversible because in most case scenarios you opt in for it. The only time this doesn't apply is if your phone was hacked/stolen.
My guess is that sprint has some kind of fraud detection thing that caught this before I was even saw a bill that would have showed these charges.
Otherwise why would they have called me? Of course they say it was something I did.
I want to know who did charged my account and how?
Sounds like crime pays....lol
How do we research these sort of things?
Every once in awhile our checking account goes through a similar scenario, we get a call about some sadness, we confirm we dint make the charges and they reverse them and no one can ever tell us how this happens.

Well depends on what the charge was. If it was an sms charge then a virus or you sent a sms to a premium number. These numbers can be anything from bogus numbers that give nothing in return, or numbers that subscribe you to ringtones/jokes/etc..
If its a phone call, you could of accidently dialed out a premium number, or in some cases the number will call you and you miss the call so you call it back. In that case the payment is based on minutes. The initial call can range from a couple bucks, and can keep going up the more you stay on the line.
9.99$ is the maximum you can get charged for a premium text, while there is no limit on premium calls.
Premium numbers are 100% legal, and there's a LOT of fortune 500 companies that use them as a form of payment.
The most common one is jamster, and you can see what i mean by going here:
http://ace.jamster.com/coinblue/phoneInput.page?i=721126&__fs=null
I suggest not filling it out since your number will be charged 9.99.
You can read the TOS for more:
Under 18 need parental consent. $9.99 per month XXL plan (6 ringtones, 10 graphics and 4 games/apps) until cancellation. Games/apps not available on Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile or T-Mobile. Terms of Service | Plans & Pricing | Privacy Policy Cancel anytime by texting STOP to 75555. For help go to http://www.jamster.com or call 866-856-5267.

Not at all. It's 1 click and 3 tabs to fill, the third party company will refund Sprint.

lol no they won't. You agree to the terms when you sign the contract. It's the same reason why in most cases people that get hit with credit card fraud never get their money back. The 3rd party never refunds in most scenarios. Especially not sms.
That's like saying you can walk into a store, eat, and walk out without paying. They are selling you services through sms. The only time you can charge back successfully is when the text was used in an illegal manner. No opt out, no tos, hacking, etc..
And i know for a fact sprint takes a hit, because at&t and other carriers file a investigation, and won't give you your money back unless the cause of it was through illegal means.
I have three lines of service on my account; one for my 17 y/o son and I got one of these mystery $9.99 hits on his line. Called Sprint CSR and they took off the charge no questions asked. I also requested and they complied re: blocking such future charges. While I market through my credit card, he has no such card attached to his account so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. But I'd suggest both calling and then blocking such intrusions. We'll see next bill how that worked for me.
Just got my Epic last Monday and I ALREADY (super clumsy move) dropped it and the screen cracked on Sunday. Went to the Sprint store today and they replaced my screen for free (I do have insurance though and pay the monthly $7). This is the 2nd time I've broken a screen with them in the past 6 months or so (broke my Moment screen too, which they also fixed for free). Just wanted to let everyone know that if you break your screen, and they have available replacements & you have insurance, they'll do it for free.
I believe if you don't have insurance they will replace it for 35$. Maybe someone here can confirm first hand but that's what a local sprint store charged a co worker when he shattered his evo then broke the lcd trying to replace the glass himself.

Yes; if you don't have insurance, they wil replace it for $35, and if it breaks again within 30 days of the first replacement, it is free.
After bricking my Epic twice...I can definitely confirm this lol.

If you have a best buy near you..just go with their insurance. It's 10 a month instead of 7; but you don't pay a premium when you have to make a claim. And they cover EVERYTHING except lost/stolen.
Just dial *2 for customer service and ask if you can add the insurance. I wouldn't see why they wouldn't want to collect an extra $7/month, though I'm sure they have a waiting period for a claim to be considered legit if you add it after the initial 30 days from phone purchase.
They will add insurance at anytime, the only rule is that it wont activate until you make a call from the insured phone to make sure you don't break/lose it then add insurance
I second the best buy recommendation. Although it can take a little time for the replacement, if your phone is deemed beyond repairable they give you in store credit for a new phone. My "hero" mysteriously developed a 45 degree bend in the middle, and they gave me credit that I put to an Epic. Best move ever.

You have to add it within 30 days of activating the phone. If it's been past 30 days, you can activate another phone, then reactivate your Epic, and add the insurance to your Epic.

being a sprint tech support rep i can tell you that your method is correct, however if the device you activated was activated before it will show the original activation date, alot of tech reps got fired for fraud trying to help customers out, they would activate an old device, add insurance, then switch to the new device. sprint caught us trying to help people and started marking it fraud.... so we had to stop, which sucks when the cust is cool and we cant do anything to help him/her.
and if you do not have TEP(insurance) ERP(just replacment inusrrance, or ESRP(just servicing the device in store no replacement insurance) there is a $35 charge, use to be $120 but changed about 2 months ago near christmas... also if you dont want to pay the $7 a month switch to one of the other plans and pay3-4 depending which you choose, forgot which is which... and at any time you can switch to TEP with no problem and even help a sprint rep(that helped you) out with a "sale"

They might have changed this but in the past they would let you put insurance on it but then you couldn't immediately make a claim. I think you have to wait either 14 or 30 days. This was so you didn't break it and then expect to add it and immediately get your broke phone fixed.

I see the term "insurance" tossed around a lot when really what the poster means is the service and repair plan.
TEP is made up of both Insurance through Assurion, and the service and repair plan. Assurion replaces phones if you damage it beyond the level a repair center will handle, such as liquid damage, or board level damage. They also cover lost devices as well.
The Equipment Service and Repair plan is a service plan that gets you free service on the device in the store, including and up to replacing the phone with another if they can't fix it, and it's not liquid or board level damaged (go with the above if so)
Both plans cost four dollars each, or, if you have both you pay 7. If you just had the Insurance.. I.E. Assurion, a store is not going to work on your phone for free, and if you just have the service plan, you're not going to get a replacement for a lost phone or one you dumped into the toilet from Assurion.
Currently just the four dollar a month service and equipment replacement plan will get you new screens or whatever else you need as long as it's not liquid, board level damage, broken in half, whatever. If a store orders you another phone, that's not insurance, they did so because they couldn't fix it.
Hmmm... well. Thank you for all of your replies! You all are a big help.
At the Best Buy suggestion... no. I cannot stand Geek Squad. The corporate system there is terrible.
I'll probably just end up calling Sprint this weekend and asking if I can add it. It's been more than 30 days, but it's worth a shot.
Sent from the Epic that bites.
I bought my service plan and cell phone at the Verizon kiosk in Best Buy. I opted in for the $9.99 protection plan. Ive had my phone for more than 30 days. I have a cracked camera lens. Just wondering how their replacement plan works? Their site doesnt have the DInc listed any more so Im not sure if all they do is send it in for repair, replace it, or what.
I remember reading right after dincs eol that people were getting the incredible 2 through Verizon's insurance
Give BestBuy a call and find out what they can do for you, i don't think this is verizions deal

Has nothing to do with Verizon.
Anyone know if I can add Verizon insurance at any time? If I switch Id save $3 a month for what appears to be better service.

You can only add the Ausurion insurance from Verizon, within the first 30 days of owning the device. I'd call BB and see what they say.

Should have had the Verizon insurance.
Just got off the phone with BB. They charge $9.99 a month. If your phone breaks you go in, they take your phone and ship it to a Geek Squad repair center. In the mean time they give you an old school loaner phone at which point my unlimited data package is worthless since I cant do anything. On top of that you pay the $9.99 a month and to get a loaner phone of any sort its $50 while your phone is being repaired.
Hopefully HTC's customer service is worth something.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that. I will definitely stay away from their protection plans. Ausurion is awesome. I've had to use them once before. They just ship you another phone. The deductible went up recently when they lowered the monthly charge, but it's still well worth it.
Good luck on getting it fixed without too much of a pain.

Hi everyone,
I am new on the forum though I've been reading here for a while.
Today I decided to return my nexus 10 device and figured out there seem to be a 15% fee for restocking. I am not able to see if this will apply or not and I am not really happy to lose this. If someone is willing to buyout the tablet from me in Canada, let me know the tablet is in perfect condition and has no trouble so far (getting rid of it for money purposes). Also, it is the 32gb version and I will throw in a mini hdmi cable since I won't need it anymore. Also if anyone know when the 15% apply, I would be glad if you could let me know because I need my money back!
Sorry if I'm not posting in the right forum, please move it to the right one.
Thank you!
Hmm, I would call up Google and ask about the restocking fee. When the CS person I spoke to offered the refund option, he didn't mention a restocking fee (but then again, I didn't ask about it). I imagine though that if the tablet is experiencing an issue, and Google is notified of such, they'd waive the restocking fee. If you just want to return the tablet for simply not liking it, then they'd charge the restocking fee. Not entirely sure though.
Also there is/was a Marketplace section on xda-developer forums, but last I heard, it was going to close soon. I think if I recall right, it closes on the 30th (2 days).
That sucks. The Nexus 10 is such a great tablet. Was trying to nab one on Black Friday. No deals on it though. I might be willing to buy it off of you. Do you have it in original boxing? Accessories and etc.? Price your offering?

I did call Google and asked about the return policy. If you refuse shipment a d never open the box you can get a full refund. However if you open the box there is a 15% restocking fee. If there is a defect or something you have the option of getting a replacement but they still will not let you just return it and the 15% still would apply. I'm in sales so I was very sure to ask about all possible scenarios.

I am upgrading using jump to a normal S8. After seeing the phone in person I really prefer to get the S8+. Is it possible for me to receive the phone and take it to a tmobile store and exchange it for a s8+ and just pay the difference in the down payment? I wouldnt open the box and anything.

I would say your best bet if trying to swap it out would be to have proof of purchase as well. Where did you preorder? If directly from T-Mobile then you have a much better chance than from Samsung since they'll see it in their system. All carriers should have a week or two that you can return phones with the possibility of a restocking fee.
Most likely you won't pay the difference, instead they'll probably refund the S8 and charge you for the S8+. In reality you won't pay more than if you just paid the difference, it's just up to your bank account if you can survive the week it may take to receive your refund.
You'd basically be returning a device which they apply a restocking fee. I could be wrong...

Would need to return it and get the s8plus which can be done. They will make you pay the restocking fee most likely for returning it. You can't just "exchange" it.
