[Q] SMS displayed in drop down menu? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I got my new S4 yesterday and love it so far. I am coming from a galaxy S captivate and when I got a SMS on it, the msg was displayed on drop down menu. On my S4, it just shows "new message". How can I make it display msg? TIA

Open the messenger and press the options button.
On the bottom is "Display messages notifications in status" on?
Yeah that's the first thing I checked and it's on. Any other ideas?

Your lock screen is used to protect your device from unauthorized access. To view partial content of your message, go into your SMS window (messages), push the menu button and go to settings. Within settings, click on More (top right of screen) then if you scroll down, you see a check-box which says "Preview message". Enable this and then you will have a partial view of the message on your lock screen when notified.
Hope this helps!
It really helped, thanks!

[Q] Display opens when a message is received...

Hi,
Is there any way to set the display to NOT open when I receive a text message? It's strange, because the display opens when I receive a message and many times the screen doesn't even turn off.
Also, does anyone have the problem with the stock message application? When I am in a conversation, I turn the screen off and when I return, the conversation starts from the beginning and not from the last received message.
I'm stock and not rooted, on a D802 G2.
Thanx!
Turn it off in message settings

I don't want to turn the notification off... I just want the display not to automatically open when a message arrives... (I didn't find something related to the screen).
Thanx.

Just got my new note 3. One thing's bothering me though. When you receive a new text message, it just says on the notification that you received a message. Is there a way to change this so that it actually shows you the person who texted?

In the Message go to Settings >> More >> check the option "Preview Message"
Showing preview also shows up on the lock screen also
