HTC One to get new mics after the current stock is exhausted does it affect the development of new devices
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_to_get_new_mics_after_the_current_stocks_are_exhausted-news-5934.php

I read a comment from STMicroelectronics who manufactured the microphone supplied to HTC that 1) they had alternative products available and 2) they intend to appeal against the decision that went against them from Nokia, who alleges patent infringement

HTC One X Design Faults!!

HTC design worries?
What has this got to do with the Desire HD? Well, considering quite a few of us are considering upgrading to the One X....maybe we should wait a while?
But wait! There's a cloud on the HTC horizon! The iPhone had antennagate, and it seems that the latest HTCs may have bendyscreengate, and possibly chippypaintgate too. As Chris Smith reports, "HTC has been rocked by a pair of reports alleging major design flaws with the new flagship HTC One X and One S Android handsets."

And we don't mean rocked in a good way, either. It seems that the HTC One X screen can be overly bendy, while some One S handsets have suffered from flaking paint, so naturally we asked HTC what was going on. "HTC takes quality very seriously and are providing all customers with an immediate fix and we are implementing some small changes to ensure customers do not experience this issue in the future", they told us.

I've got my One X and I have no issues at all.
One thing to remember, if people have a problem with anything they will go online and tell people about it. The satisfied customers do not.
Try not to read to much into it. IMO a cracking handset.
only the black one s..the grey is fine..needs a case though Slippy because its so thin!

What will next year's One be called?

Assuming HTC survives another year (which I'm guessing they will) and the One is a success, then what will they name its successor?

Good question! No idea =] All names don't really work too well. Will be looking forward to how they market their next flagship!

That should be for their last resort.
I really think they should think of another way to name future phones though. The M (M7/M4) isn't too bad.

HTC infinity. Oh wait ASUS used that...
HTC should just follow the car companies!
Next year, the all-new 2014 HTC One
Two years, the all-new 2015 HTC One
And so forth....
I believe that this is a good way for all OEM's to solve the naming problems. Think about it, We can just end up with the Samsung Galaxy S, the LG Optimus (forget the G), and of course the HTC One. No more numbers, letters, or anything that adds confusion.

Honestly, that's not a bad idea. It can just be the HTC One (2014). Most of the other conventions or numbering systems don't really sound very good the the one, and let's face it, HTC cannot afford to dilute it's brand at this point.
Two.
"Introducing the all new HTC Survivor"
And they'd replace the "Quietly Brilliant " ad with "We made it"

You got the right answer here. One of htc's senior officer has said that the naming for "hTC One" is inspired by the naming rule from car industry. So "htc One 2014" is very likely to be the name of the next htc One for 2014.
2nd gen HTC one (2014 model)
3rd gen HTC one (2015 model)
4th gen HTC one (2016 model)
The same naming strategy as cars, Intel and iPods use. It's very simple and easy and when saying the name you will call it the HTC One only the marketing dept will use the 2nd gen, 3 gen etc for ads and on the retail box.
It works just like bmw m6 2013 and then bmw m6 2014 but when someone asks you what car you have you only have to mention the name bmw m6, nobody ever says I have the bmw m6 2014 model it's just to long. HTC ONE will always be HTC ONE the whole purpose is to tell people theirs just One that's above all else.

Google Edition HTC One

HTC will reportedly reverse course and offer a “Google Edition” HTC One phone, with the official announcement expected next week. That could give
HTC a boost by getting more marketing help and making pure Android fans happier.
A “Google Edition” HTC One could actually bring multiple benefits to help the situation. The current HTC One on sale now is an outstanding piece of hardware; possibly the best designed and built Android phone on the market today. But some have shied away from buying the phone because of HTC’s Sense user interface. A “pure” HTC One with nothing but Android on it could generate additional sales.:good:
And not forgetting that it would be getting Android updates as they happened, hopefully without Google crippling propogation to the actual HTC One.

Future HTC Phones

Before I got this I had a Galaxy S3 and a decent phone it was too but I was becoming increasingly tired of the plasticky build now I don't think I could ever buy another phone that isn't brushed aluminium or similar quality in design, even the LG G2 which is a serious piece of kit but horrible plasticky build, I'm wondering if HTC will continue to make phones with similar build quality to this beauty, I wonder will Samsung follow suit as well, obviously it's not all about the build quality but for me personally I do think it's important alongside brilliant sound quality and screen.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
The HTC one max is gonna be aluminum. So they shouldn't stop there.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I think it is safe to say HTC is pushing the "One" series devices like Samsung is pushing the galaxy line. With that said I don't see them back tracking on their choice of material and build design.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm sure HTC will stick to aluminum or something similar for their flagship designs from here on out. They've established a reputation for themselves, and like Samsung, want to cultivate that reputation into a proper market brand. That said, the real concern is whether HTC will even be in the smartphone game in the next couple years. Despite the popularity of the HTC One, the company is still posting losses.

That would be cool. But judging from how much they charge for their plastic phones I'm afraid that a premium line would be pretty expensive, unless they lower their prices of the S line.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
I think they will keep the aluminum, plastic is cheaper to mass produce I believe, but the difference is marginal. HTC has always had a reputation for the construction and feel of their phones, I have had several HTC phones over the years and they have all felt great in the hand, and felt like they were produced with quality. I had an S3 as well, and could never get over how light and plasticity it felt, it never gave me that feeling of owning a quality device, even tho it was. Hard to explain.
But, lets hope they stick to their current design, to date the HTC One is the best phone I have ever owned, in regards to performance and design. Heck, if they announced they would stop designing them they way they do now, I would probably stock pile a few for later use, as I don't want to ever own a phone unlike the One
How is this thread not locked yet?
Anyway, I sorta agree with the previous post, I'm thinking I should go out and stockpile a couple more of original Ones because they are very sweet and should continue to serve very capably for another year or two.
If there were any reason to discuss it *here* I might join in the speculation about what the One's successor might look like.
But there isn't.

They make great phones, the only brand I have used since vzw started selling them. They have just been mis-managed
the last five years. They have never put the necessary money into advertising to sell their product to a wider audience
the way Samsung and Apple do. The average cell phone customer probably has never heard of HTC.

who the hell cares if he's right
consider this the HTC One was released early this year, it's indeed 2013 phone of the year, ask any SGS3 / SGS4 convert
if HTC is indeed in the red knows, this gives them two years before sale or change of owner ship or even going private, even then under a new form they are most likely to continue operation (they are Taiwan's most prized)
until then? plenty of time for the world to enjoy the HTC One and the software updates are flowing like water
so enough drama, this phone is fulfilling it's job for this year and the year to come
It's the phone of the year, 90% of the world's press agree, otherwise you are missing out
Thata boy HTC!
DESERVED!
This went downhill pretty quickly
The topic here is the HTC One winning awards. Criticising other manufacturers, or even talking about their rumoured acquisition is not supposed to be here. Promoting Samsung shouldn't be here either. You can talk about whether the One deserves the awards, but I think a battle between the manufacturers belongs elsewhere.
I'll be watching the thread.
After giving them another try after the Desire HD (Inspire 4g in 'Murica). The One X and One have both been incredible pieces of hardware. How they have not been more popular I'll never know.

Probably HTC not giving the right sales incentives. I think Samsung and others make it worthwhile for the reps to push their phones.

I think this is a huge win for HTC.
This is a software win as well which is, to say the least, mind blowing. I never thought HTC would get here. Sense finally has gotten to the right balance of being functional without being intrusive and lagging the device. The speakers are great and all but what really makes this device is the amazing software that powers it.
You have to give it to HTC for optimization when you see their underclocked Snapdragon 600 chip device (both CPU and GPU) that is running the older LPDDR2 memory take out devices with faster clock speeds and faster memory in every day performance. HTC has struggled with that since the Windows Mobile days and they've finally found their balance.
HTC won me over with the One. And I swore off HTC after the disaster that was the Sensation... Hopefully they can keep churning out winning devices! :highfive:
I like how HTC being not famous...makes it even more unique having their product...poor those enslaved by samsung plasticky, well I am one before One X and the One
