Since the Galaxy S IV is running 4.2, does that mean that it supports group messaging A La Nexus 4, natively?

I hope it does too. Still, I'd much rather use GoSMS, just for the quick reply and Emoji support alone.

Unlocked and rooted yes. Stock rom though. If you're running a custom rom it may be doing a check on build.prop for enabling features.

Nope Sprint Nexus S4G
We are not supported

Works for me on infinity rom.
What gives better quality google talk video chat or skype
Works for me with NSCollab 1.0.34 with no problems. Of course, the other side has to be able to participate in a video call.
So I take it one-way video calling isn't possible? If so, that's a shame...

I figured the A was the issue. We are the red headed step child of the Nexus clan.

Anyone know of an App or ROM that gives the ability to have a split screen like the Note?
One app open in half the screen and another app in the other half?

Only Samsung ROMs are capable of doing that. Maybe we will get a port, but that requires a lot of Samsung framework. So as of now, no.

It has a version of multiwindow? I thought that was only for like the video player.
Either way, there are plenty of floating apps on the play store that are pretty awesome. Lilypad HD is a floating chat client, Overscrkeen is a floating web browser, and there's a few others as well.

I was looking more for like any app you can put in the split screen. I'm going to check out those apps though. Thanks
there's cornerstone which existed before samsung came and you can be sure thats what samsung probably based theirs on. googles dianne hackborn personally vetoed when cyanogenmod tried to bring in cornerstone, even hinting at legal consequences. afaik it was troublesome and buggy aswell, even samsungs solution was for a couple of apps only, right?

Yes, it was originally only for a couple of apps. But there are some hacked up versions available on XDA that allow it to work perfectly with all apps.
Thanks guys. I'll check out cornerstone on xda.

The dialer has to support it but most do not for this device. The main time you see it is with euro versions of devices but this one doest have a euro version

Does anyone actually use video call? My old Galaxy S supported video call, but the only time I have used it was when I accidentally "dream dialed" while still half asleep.

how to find out what market is my phone.
Is anyone using MightyText (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texty.sms) on their stock Nexus 4? I have been running it on CM 10.2 but ever since I upgraded to 10.2 (based on AOSP 4.3) messages longer than 160 characters don't get sent properly by the MightyText app on the phone. In fact, they don't even get sent.
So I'm wondering if this is an issue related to CM 10.2 only or it is a 4.3 bug. I would like to provide this info to the developer so they can work on a fix.
Thanks!
Doesn't work for me either, through any pc texting app, not even AirDroid. (Running Odyssey 4.3 Rooted)

They're a perfect match in my opinion. Just came from the old N7. Vast improvement over that for one. Only missed a few things, but root it add xposed mod, gravity box and touch control and sorted. One very happy camper ?

I bought the Nexus 7 LTE to take the place of my T-mobile hotspot. This update breaks the 2 reasons I use the hotspot for, wireless connectivity on the go when I need it for my laptop and native sms messaging. Both of these features are included in the service I pay T-mobile for on this account. Not only did Google disable these 2 features without notice in KitKat, but they don't acknowledge that they have or give a reason or resolution for the issue anywhere that I can find. I can't even find a way to contact Google directly to ask them a question about the issue with any guarantee that they will even read my questions, let alone answer them. Until this is resolved, I'm stuck on 4.3.1.

So you're saying that the 4.4/KRT16S update removed the option to tether with a T-Mobile SIM? Can anyone else confirm that? If that's true, that totally sucks. For people on AT&T, their tethering has been disabled from the start. I know for a fact that tethering still works with Verizon, though, even after the KitKat update. I'd love to know how carriers get their demands integrated into a carrier-free, SIM unlocked device like the Nexus 7, especially when no Nexus phone has ever disabled tethering. The Google Play Edition phones don't disable tethering either. This "selective disabling of tethering based on carrier" seems to be unique to tablets.
As for native SMS on a tablet, though, that's a feature very few people will miss because so few people would ever even think to do it in the first place. Tablets are designed by default to be data consumption devices, not giant phones. You probably won't find much sympathy on that one.
Sent from my Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition using Tapatalk
I'm tying to understand why it should be different on theN7 from the N5 running Kitkat. I use my N5 on T-Mobile and the tethering works fine. I can't say I love Hangouts as the native SMS client but it does work for sms/mms. It should work on the N7. Hopefully someone might chip in who uses t mobile with their N7. You might want a thread title that is clearer what your issues are. The current title is unclear.

I don't need anyone's sympathy. As a matter of fact, there is already someone who has claimed a fix for the SMS problem in the LTE android development forum for the Nexus 7 (2013). So obviously there is sympathy. Just because you don't use a feature, don't make the assumption that others don't use it and find it useful.

That's exactly why I reverted to CM10.2 a while back.
TBH I have yet to see one real benefit of KitKat, and the ASOP install issues with KK was a total deal breaker for me.
XPrivacy having issues with KK didn't help either.
Went back to 10.2 and now I'm extremely happy again!...

Having N 7 2013 root and TWRP recovery notification update in step 4.4 and came anyway. Now the question is: Can you do the same upgrade to the next version even though you have the terminal with root permissions? Thanks
