Anyone know of an App or ROM that gives the ability to have a split screen like the Note?
One app open in half the screen and another app in the other half?

Only Samsung ROMs are capable of doing that. Maybe we will get a port, but that requires a lot of Samsung framework. So as of now, no.

I was wondering the same, it'd be really nice to see this on the Nexus 4.

It has a version of multiwindow? I thought that was only for like the video player.
Either way, there are plenty of floating apps on the play store that are pretty awesome. Lilypad HD is a floating chat client, Overscrkeen is a floating web browser, and there's a few others as well.

I was looking more for like any app you can put in the split screen. I'm going to check out those apps though. Thanks
there's cornerstone which existed before samsung came and you can be sure thats what samsung probably based theirs on. googles dianne hackborn personally vetoed when cyanogenmod tried to bring in cornerstone, even hinting at legal consequences. afaik it was troublesome and buggy aswell, even samsungs solution was for a couple of apps only, right?

Yes, it was originally only for a couple of apps. But there are some hacked up versions available on XDA that allow it to work perfectly with all apps.
Thanks guys. I'll check out cornerstone on xda.

Google has released a Beta version of Chrome for Ice Cream Sandwich which means it will be available on the Note soon. I've been using the Dolphin browser but I'll switch to Chrome when the ICS update is released.

What isn't clear is if the lack of Flash is because it's a beta, or because they never intend to implement it.

No its clear, adobe is done with mobile flash. They want you to use AIR and google is going with it on chrome.
Too bad about the Flash support, since a lot of pages still use it.
I tried Chrome on my Note running the CM9 alpha, and while it was beautiful, convenient and promising, I can't use it as my default browser.
The page navigation goes haywire sometimes and the tab management does not work at all; it doesn't show the tabs and the whole application freezes and has to be restarted.
All of this is probably because it's a beta app on an alpha ROM.
Still, I'm thrilled that Chrome is finally available on Android and I'm sure it will be great once it's done!
Without flash it's a nono for me even though i love chrome on my PC.

I understand that! However, that doesn't necessarily preclude getting the existing Flash plug-in working with Chrome, because that's mostly a Google thing rather than Adobe. For example, the later Firefox nightlies for Android have experimental Flash support.
That being said, personally, I doubt they will bother.

Dave
I don't see the point of flash on a mobile device anymore. I don't miss it on my iPad at all. With that said, it would be nice to be able to use it on the rare occasion that we need it.
How often do you use flash on your phone seriously. And if you absolutely need to use it (ie restaurant website) then just open it in the stock browser, no problem!
Since flash obviously is supported on ics it just feels like an unnecessary omission that would make it my standard browser.

What question?
So, this tablet is a great purchase don't get me wrong but the more I play with it the more I see force closing, freezing, and lag. Just not as snappy as my phone. My question is, is it the tablet or is it jellybean? I know jellybean is brand spankin new, so could this be the reason why these apps are force closing? Facebook and ALL browsers I've tried are the worst. And also for some reason it freezes a lot just when I go to my settings. Very annoying waiting for the simple stuff. Let me know if I'm the only one please. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Im the opposite way. all my apps run smoothly. I may get a bit of lag once in a blue moon but it doesnt bother me. Chrome is also very quick too.
Well if you ask Rovio, it's jelly beans fault. I asked them about Amazing Alex not being available and got:
"Unfortunately Nexus 7 can not be added to the compatible devices due to its non standard way of reading the game's manifest file. This is something we can not change, it's up to the device manufacturer and Operation System manufacturer."
Amazing Alex is running beautifully on my N7. Available from Amazon App Store, so that pretty much makes that last post a complete fabrication of fact.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I also thought that Amazing Alex being incompatible seemed weird given that it works on Tegra phones...
A load of applications just don't seem to be ready for high resolutions, and don't look right. Given that this device has truly taken off I imagine everyone will start to include 1280 layouts.
I'm grabbing stuff through the Play Store onto my Tab 2 7.0 and the using ROM Toolbox to make a backup, then sideloading the backup .apks on the N7. So far everything has worked just peachy. Probably my number one annoyance at this point with the device. (Previous number one annoyances were "Why is this thing so hard to root after the last OTA or is it my Tab 2 drivers getting in the way?", and after that it was "How in the world do I get Flash to work, why is Dolphin HD not working with Flash?")

You guys should email Rovio.
Amazon Appstore doesn't have strict device policies for apps, so that's why you were able to install it and find out it works fine.
The Play Store, developers have tons of settings for device policies on apps, so they can exclude some devices, or can automatically exclude some devices (and they don't even know that it did).

Rovio is the developer that created Angry Birds. Amazing Alex is from the developer Rovio.
Why is there yet another thread about app compatibility? Are these people all fresh and new to Android or something? Relax, the OS just launched, give it a few weeks - this is ridiculous now!
Even though YouTube app runs, it is indeed incompatible. Go to Play Store, you won't see it under your "Installed" list. You can't search it in Play store either (because it's incompatible with JB).
Is spotify supposed to be working? I ask as I cannot get the search feature to work at all and so am limited to playing my playlists only.
Amazing Alex HD plays fine here. The only game I found to run like crap is the Not-So-Amazing-Spider-Man.
-Its probably Tegra drivers and not Jelly Bean's fault.

There are no ports or images for any devices. There's only one image for the Nokia N950 that you can build yourself from meet source in theory. But afaik you can't get the Jolla UI. You could try to build mer with nemo mobile for a nexus device. That sounds doable to me.

Jolla is a group consisting of mostly ex-Nokia employees. Considering that, if their culture is anything like Nokia, they are more worried about selling hardware. MeeGo/Maemo was open sourced out of their control. I will be interested to see if we ever see their proprietary UI open sourced. The good news is that as was pointed out, all Sailfish apps will be able to run on MeeGo/Maemo derivatives like Mer.
MAYBE only MAYBE i will port it for GT-i9000 and someone can port it for nexus ... Only MAYBE when i got no exams and so on .. Dont make any hopes it is only mabe

They are hardware guys without hardware. I don't think they have ANY hardware partners yet. I have only seen it running on old Nokia hardware, which I guess says something for its speed.
They love showing off that ambiance thing, but you can do the same effect with CSS and JavaScript on a web page, so I question if what they are showing is not just a trick, or if it is REALLY the OS, because the SDK has NONE of the interface they keep showing off.

Has anyone heard any news at all about a possible Note 10.1 port for N10? I'm waiting for some of that MULTI-WINDOW love on this beast of a machine. I've Google searched to no avail and have been scouring the various developer forums over countless websites in search of this white whale. Some has got to be working on this. If I knew how, I would be.

The multi windows is so buggy... just by watching some of the reviews it doesn't work half the time, or not in the way that the user wants it to work - switching between the apps is good enough for me.
I only asked asked about it because I am a college student and would love to have my chemical equations pdf open in one window while I'm inputing stats into the calculator side by side.

Plus, I know it won't be as simple as porting the multi-window function. The entire touchwiz sytle rom would have to be ported.

they put no effort into the blaster. it's angle is absolutely awful and the htc one and gs4 kill it. if you're one inch off from the direction of the IR in the device, it won't work. it's absolutely terrible... so it doesn't surprise me the software sucks.
