Hi XDA!
When i got my nexus 4 i noticed that the back glass panel was (in my opinion) not secured correctly. It flexed on the the left hand side of the device, if held normally,in the general area of the camera and flash.this was its first drop and even so it was nothing major by height ect. However it was in the back pocket of my cottons and i tripped and the kerb was a bit taller than expected ^^ and my phone fell out and cracked on that panel of glass directly where this flex was.I do not feel that the glass was also strong enough as i have gathered far more scratches on the back than my friends xperia z which of course has dragontail.
I have 2 questions now
1. Should i contact google and if so how would i go about doing this
2.Is it sheer luck or influenced by this flaw
Thanks ^^
Contact Google and get a replacement.
If you search, there was someone who had a similar issue and his back cover cracked and he asked for a new device from Google.

If you're within 15 days of purchasing it you might be able to get Google to RMA the phone if you don't mention dropping it. If not you will have to send it to LG for repairs at your expense as the glass cracking isn't covered under warranty especially since you dropped it.

So as the title suggests, today my touchscreen stopped working . Inspecting it with a torch, it appear the flex cable between the screen and body may have slipped out.
So first things first - will flashing back to stock froyo with my original SBF using RSD lite remove all evidence of root/custom rom/over clock?
Secondly, has anyone ever experienced warranty claims with Motorola, and how did it go for you? Was it simple enough or did they give you grief throughout the whole process?
Thirdly, I have quite a few scuffs scratches in small dents around the corners etc. Does anyone have reason to believe that they would right it off as neglect damage? (even though it is just average wear and tear for the 10/11 months i've had it)
Lastly, if any of you have made a warranty claim, what servicing did it include? I am wondering if it will be fully factory refurbished - had my iPhone 3g sent off 3 times on insurance claim back in the day, and every time it would return sparkling with new casing. One could argue that the deterioration of the casing and slide chassis is the cause for the flex to come out, due to how old and loose it is getting; so I hope that if I were to make a successful claim, they would replace my sad old casing yet I wonder if they offer the same service as apple at moto. Or was your main issue in your claim the only thing fixed?
Thanks in advance for any who can give me some advice .
EDIT:
So as a quick update, flashing to stock froyo fixed it. Or so I thought, moments later it was dead again, it must have just been sitting in the right place to work briefly.
I'm pretty devo, cause it's gonna be a while till I can send it, and with all the public holidays and mail congestion from christmas, the postage is going to take ages. Then who knows how moto will go with it. bleehhh..
Hi all,
this morning I left my tablet at home and when I come back found it with broken glass (I think tmy little brother dropped it, but he doesn't confess)..
Sometimes touch works, more often not.
However.. What can I do? I read that some lcd are not glued properly, and it could be my case, because on the left it's a bit lifted on the center.
In your experience, is there hope that it can be repaired for free?
And if not, where can I find replacement (I only found this: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Google-Nexus-7-LCD-and-Digitizer-Assembly-p-22606.html , but it isn't available)?
Thank you!
sooooo sad! :/

At this moment you have Two Options..
1. Sell it on Ebay for Parts you probably get about 50 to 100 at most.
2. Pack it up and store it away in a closet and forget about it. Until the Screens are being sold as parts.
the reason for both options is due to Asus not selling the LCD/Glass at the moment as a Part.
they are still manufacturing the Nexus 7 and soon will be making the Nexus 7 with 3g capability.
so there biggest priority at the moment is to keep making them.
you can send it in for repair with Asus but it will cost you about $160.00 just to get it repaired.
not to mention how much it going to cost you to ship it to them.
is the device frame cracked or damaged broken is the back scuffed or cracked .. Does it look like its been dropped. IS THE Crack on the left side. CAN You post pictures. Answer the above and give some pics and more info..
i know you do not really know for sure .one more question was it moved can you tell for sure rather someone was using it or not ?
If you really feel it cracked laying where you left it . Without anyone touching it . CALL GOOGLE PLAY.. But please do not be dishonest . There is a issue with the screen lift cracking and becoming unresponsive . as well as backlight flashing issues..
Looking forword to seeing pics and more info
my problem is that when i received my device i found a small bend (like if a small ball hit the screen )on the down button of the screen , it wasn't noticeable even if you move you`re finger across it , then several days a go I was working hard on the device and it got really hot and suddenly i noticed a yellow thing on the screen same place as the bends locate ,
the yellow thing will go after the screen cools down
any idea what is that yellow thing
if any one have any idea how to fix it I would appreciate that
Thank you allot
note: at the moment am not in us or any country that google play support :crying:.
Looks like the glue that sometimes shows up on the N4/iPhone when they overheat. If it is, it isn't a huge deal

is it going to disappear ?
Do you want to risk waiting? Get Google to replace it asap. You paid hundreds for the device, it should be *perfect*.

Dude I have the exact thing wrong with mine. When its hot I get a really ugly yellow ring there too. Rest of the screen is fine but hasn't dissipated in two weeks.
The bad news is that either you play the play store lottery and end up with a worse device or you do the same with lg. I was going to get mine repaired, or rather have the screen replaced by lg rather than get yet another exchange but another person said that lg charged the repair cost and shipped a new phone. I don't know if the replacement is a refurb but it would make sense. The whole point for me with lg doing the warranty repair is to not get a different phone. Everything about my phone is awesome. I think we might have no choice unless you just want to keep it. I was going to but the ring drives me nuts. It is very visible in a sea of white.

it is hard to ignore the problem , the device is fantastic
but what is that yellow spot
is it glue ?
how does glue reached the middle of the screen :silly:
Well the whole screen is glued to the touchscreen. The glue is thicker in that area because of the deformation in the glass. The person or robot pushed too hard when the panel was installed or glued and thus it dried unevenly. I got an order in for yet another RMA but the situation really pisses me off. My last is faster binned, perfect speaker and battery and everything else. Hardly any rattle, etc. When the RMA replacement ships I'm still going to call the lg warranty number and see if there's an option to replace my actual screen rather than getting a replacement. I seriously doubt they will scrutinize a device, even one they have repaired through refurbishment, as much as an anal retentive owner like myself will. I'll let you know if I find anything out. Knowing my abysmal record with the play store, my next will be worse than this one.

ahhhhh
my friend I hope that you would be able to fix your problem , yet in my case I am outside usa at the moment so i think LG would charge me for a new device (or screen) .
if you were able to resolve your problem please don`t forget me :crying:

Who here has sent in their phone to LG or have had to exchange their phone due to build quality issues? I am expecting mine back from LG soon. I had GPS issues, charging port issues, and the paint finish was bubbling along the bottom module.
So, here are a few things I feel are important things to look at when receiving your device. If you have sent in your phone and received it already could you share some info based off these questions?
What differences do you notice build quality wise?
Any HW differences?
How does the phone's battery life differ from before?
Did they repair the specific issue or does the device appear to have been replaced entirely?
Turn around time?
Some manufacturers have specific markers on serial numbers that indicate when they were manufactured which makes it pretty easy to figure out when it was made. I am gonna compare mine and see if I can find a difference, if there is something like that could you provide the small info needed to figure it out?
Here is what my device looks like after receiving it back from LG. Luckily(unlucky) they didn't actually fix the original issues I had and sent it back. I don't have a picture of the yellowing LCD yet. The reflective finish kind of makes the bubbling hard to see, but in person its pretty noticable.
I just replaced my G5 through AT&T, and it seems to be fine so far. My old G5 had camera issues after the last software update, it also had some screen burn in already. The "new" G5 seems to have similar battery life, and it took the update with no issues. I didn't have build issues with the old G5 and the new one seems even better built. I am.satisfied so far.
I had to send mine off for repair as the OIS was broken.
They decided to replace it as it was going to take longer than 7 days to fix it.. Funny thing is it took them more than 7 days to get a new one to me as they had no stock! I gave it to O2 on Monday 5th September, I just got the replacement this afternoon.

Better. The chin fits better on this replacement.
Any HW differences?
Not that I have noticed
How does the phone's battery life differ from before?
Not had it long enough to say

Replaced
Turn around time?
9 Days

I cant find any numbers or marks that indicate manufacture date. Maybe Its in software?

Mine, purchased at bestbuy, att, (2 months old) wifi and bluetooth stopped working. sent in to LG. came back with work order stating "gps test fail" Solution "update software"
Same phone came back with couple nicks in same places as before. i thought maybe they would send a new one or fix the parts chipped, but nooooooo. Thanks for NOTHING.
SOLD THE PHONE after i made sure it worked correctly.
Went with wife to att and got a new G5 for free when i finally talked her onto switching off samsungs boat
So far new phones are great. ill report back if this changes
My g5 had gps issues, sent it to LG for warranty repair. The phone returned scratched and couldnt detect sim card. I returned it to repair, they replaced screen because light leak, the back cover, and fixed the sim tray... LG in israel has a policy of not giving new devices , only do warranty repairs. At least its been 2 month and everything ok.
I have olso to mention that in israel LG has repair service that the repair guy will come to your house to fix your phone for free..
I just received my phone. They did not fix the issues I had sent it in for.
EDIT:
Sim tray ejection hole looks like they just shoved a big paper clip in there and damaged the hole, and my battery eject button now feels funny. The LCD is yellowing along the top right as well... This is seriously ****ty. I will upload pictures soon.
Pics are up. So disappointed with LG right now.
You sent your phone in service via courier service? Have you tried to take your "repaired" phone in an LG service center and try to have it replaced? I have never sent my previous phones in service with a courier so i have no experience with this situation but those few times I took my phone to service center for a repair, after it was fixed, i carefully check it for bad handling before taking it back. Was there no way you could refuse the "repaired" device on the "bad handling" reason?
Here in the US LG requires cell phone warranty repairs to be shipped in. We can't open packages to check if the decice is okay or not either because we have to accept them first. Don't get me started on calling in customer support... Luckily they have a web portal to generate ship in warranty requests and they give you a label.
The G5 is back in LG's hands for a second time. Hopefully they right the wrongs here...

Hopefully, semms like you've been through hell with it.
Surprise surprise it came back with the same issues. I've attached a more recent shot of the bubbling. My phone now has minor scuff marks on the back of the frame too. Sim tray hole looks like trash. The LCD does not yellow anymore, but the physical issues remain.
Edit: I am just going to buy the rear frame. I am wasting too much time with this crap. One thing is for certain, I can never count on LG having good build quality ever again.
Looks like my G5 is debloated. That's the one good thing I got out of this ordeal lol.
Edit: Build version screenshot uploaded. It also does not boot with the sprint logo. It looks and runs like an unlocked device. Once I get the new housing I guess this will be fine. GPS seems to be fixed, LCD looks normal.
EDIT2: The bloatware loads upon activation... GREAT. lol

Hey xda,
I received my device yesterday finally.
After all those good and also bad reviews I was still happy to get my OP5. Right now I'm astonished by the performance of this device. The camera is fine I don't see a point in arguing it's bad. It's not.
I use my 5 for 24hrs now and I didn't need to start my computer once because I needed more power or anything. I love it. However I still have a few concerns, which I haven't seen being mentioned anywhere here yet.
First, my volume key is rattling, it's not tight. I can slightly move it with my finger (about 0.3mm). It's not a huge problem but my 3 year old HTC m8 never had this problem, even though I dropped it a hundred times and also having very similar body and keys.
Second the aluminum/metal frame around the cameralens and the glas is already loosing its color. I mean I put this phone in my pocket twice. There's has never been huge force on this part yet. The most of the time I just leave it at home on a table on a microfiber cloth and still the color is already flaking of.
Do you have similar/the same problems? I think about contacting the support.
Thank you in advance.
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.
Yeah, that seems like a warranty issue to me. I'd be contacting OP about it.
Or just scrape off the rest of the black paint on the camera housing - free and cheap chrome bling!
If that is genuinely just in your pocket with nothing else touching the device (e.g. keys/coins) then definitely a warranty issue, could it be the stud/rivet on a pair of jeans as you slide it in/out? My volume button has no perceptible play in it.

Yeah I would have done this if my device was a year old or even a half and this happens, but not after 24hrs. I rather contact the support.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will return it then, if this was a problem to everyone I would have just lived with it.
Do you mean the dent on the upper part of the camera frame, in the middle? I think that's intentional for whatever reason.

Good to know, just knew it was intentional.
// Second the aluminum/metal frame around the cameralens and the glas is already loosing its color. //
I had this out of the box .. not sure what to do since i have a feeling this will happen over time regardless.
Mine arrived with scratches on the camera bezel. Most noticeable is on the top of the bezel, in the middle, where there is an indentation for the NFC Antenna. It seems this is very common based on thread on OnePlus's own forums.
I first opened this thread, and an admin closed is saying it is normal - this is unacceptable:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/solved-oneplus-5-came-scratched-what-to-do.554823/
I then opened this thread, which allowed for proper discussion:

And then someone linked to this thread, where others have the same issue:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/etched-line-on-top-edge-of-rear-camera-glass.553906/
My phone also came with scratches on the right side of the camera bezel.
OnePlus has opened an RMA ticket for replacement - I have to send it to Acer to inspect to determine if it is worth of a replacement.
Here is the kicker... I have to pay for the shipping! I should not be out of pocket for a manufacturing defect. I need to call in and see what they are willing to do.

Thanks for your reply, didn't see it earlier. Here in Europe you don't have to pay for your warranty in the first 2 weeks after buying at all, it's a law. Sucks you have to pay. However I contacted the support and got a return ticket for a repair. But after hearing that the jelly screen is 'normal' and won't be fixed (can't be), I canceled my repair ticket and went for a return ticket. I'm really pissed - I paid 570 Euros for a cheaply build Device. I mean it's fast and camera is great, sure. But the build quality is really underwhelming.
And after thinking about all this for a bit I'm pretty sure my device was broken even before I got it, I probably just didn't noticed it when I unboxed it.
