[Q] cannot download from play store - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Yesterday my play store updated, and now I'm unable to download apps from the play store. I get a message stating that "_____ could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])" I have tried wiping cache and dalvik, and fix permissions. Does anyone have another idea for a solution? Also not sure if this is important or not, but running latest PA, with franco r121. I dont think it's kernel related though, I had the problem on trinity 113b as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Solved

i tried fixing permissions, but it didn't solve the problem
Man, I know this is going to sound stupid but are you using the correct version of GApps? I flash numerous roms and have numerous versions of GApps. I do IT and sometimes you just have to walk through every step if all else has already failed. Its obviously a software issue since you can do other things with the table. I hope this helps.

Unable to update google maps.

Hi all.
For some reason I am unable to update to the latest version of Google Maps. The play store has notified me there's an update but every time I try updating it fails with the message "Update for Maps could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error while retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:APC-0])". I've tried rebooting, clearing the play store and map caches and tried downloading over wifi and mobile data but still get the same issue. I'm on 4.3 stock.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks.
Rik.

Remove and add your google account. You probably get this message because you cleared the Google Services Framework cache.

As I think I mentioned in another thread dealing with this issue, the only solution that worked for me when I encountered this on Monday (3/30/15) on my el cheapo tablet was to do a factory reset in both Android and the recovery, then reinstall my ROM. Waiting didn't help, and wiping data for the Play Store and the Google Services Framework did nothing.

Doesn't matter. Reinstall your stock ROM.

Play Store download error (492)

Hey Guys,
I could use some assistance or pointing in the right direction, please.
I've flashed the Goldeneye Rom on my ATT Galaxy S4 I337 phone, got everything working except the Play Store it seems. When I try to download anything it says "Error. X could not be downloaded due to an error. (492)". This happens on anything I try to download. I've done some searching and tried all the troubleshooting steps but no dice.
1.) My clock/time is correct.
2.) My SD card is fine.
3.) I've wiped cache/data from the Google Play Store app.
4.) I've wiped cache/dalvik from Safestrap.
5.) I've removed my G account and re-added it.
6.) Tried Play Store 492 Fixer
I still get the same thing. Can someone more knowledgeable than I assist please?
It's much appreciated.
Same here
Hello, I have registered on XDA just because I have exactly the same problem, and tried all the fixes you have listed. The problems is still not resolved.
Did you get any more help in fixing this?

Google Play Error 490?

I've got an A2017U running B25 with Magisk 13 beta on it, but now I've run into this odd problem - I can't install or update any apps on the Google Play store over 4G (T-Mobile) - it just returns the following error in a pop up:
"*App Name*" can't be updated. Try again, and if the problem continues, get help troubleshooting. (Error code: 490)
Wi-Fi works fine. I've tried clearing the cache for Google Play store, the Download Manager, and clearing the Dalvik/Cache partition, but nothing's worked. Anyone got an clue on how to fix this?

Check background data for download manager and play store it's disabled then turn on... This is the main cause of error if it helps then thanks me or contact Google team from playstore through chat or voice they will sort out.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I was actually able to download one app immediately after toggling it for the first time, but then it stopped working again. Sometimes, clearing the cache seems to have a similar result.
What's weird is that it has no problem downloading when connected to a VPN or WiFi, it's just an issue when on the bare cellular connection.
