[Q] Changing system partition with broken USB - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi,
is there a way of changing CWM partition on my phone if phone's USB is gone?
Radi

only if you use cLK and not magldr.

I'm afraid not if you're using MAGLDR, buddy. Same problem here.

Yep, MAGLDR Well looks like we're going to have to wait until ROM Manager will work on MAGLDR. I hope it will happen soon, I'm still on ANDROID 2.3.7 CyanogenMod 7.1.0 Desire[TyphooN_v3.7.0-MAGLDR, and as much as I enjoy it, I just fancied a change
Just to refresh my HD2.
Broken port does not stop me using HD2, 2 batteries and external charger have done the trick

How big is your /system partition now? And did you try using NativeSD? Because my /system partition is also too small, but I am booting Android 4.2.2 using NativeSD.
I am also using an external charger! Seems like the battery lasts longer if you charge it using an external charger.
Just need to buy a second battery.. where'd you buy one?

Why wait? Why not backup, flash clk from SD,use it to set required partition size, restore/flash new rom.

^This. ROM Manager won't be compatible with MAGLDR unless a new version of MAGLDR (not ROM Manager) is released, which is becoming increasingly less likely as time goes on.

I noticed same thing about battery lasting longer. See attached picture of my external charger. The thing is, battery is rather loose when placed in it for charging...
I bought my spare battery one on ebay, 1600mAh but it seems to last less or the same time as original one, which is over 3 years old.

I will have to read more about the Native SD..

Well, I did not think about that, I'll have to look somewhere how it's done and maybe consider it as a 2nd option. Thank you

Okay, I just flashed cLK 1.5.
How do I increase my /system partition using cLK?
I Googled it, but couldn't find anything useful.
Nevermind, I did it. Trying to flash NexusHD2 4.2.2 with DataOnEXT.

Who needs rom manager? Didn't think anyone used it on hd2. All it does it download the zip and autostart the flash,,,all things that can be done manually directly on the phone.

He thought that he could use ROM manager to reflash CWM with the desired partition size. I'm pretty sure that nobody uses it too, seeing as all it'll do is corrupt CWM if you're using MAGLDR and try to use it.

ahh gotcha.

are you using a rom that supports magldr?
great question, i havent flashed a custom rom yet, is this my issue?
Another note, when it boots to android there is activity for a split second in the tool bar and it says that the sd card is near full. i dont know if this means anything.

You dont flash the android rom, you copy it onto your sd card. Providing you have a MAGLDR SD android ROM it will install.
Have you setup your sd card to support dual boot?
I understand. Ive gone through numerous tutorials and have set up my sd card. when booting into wp7 i have 7 gigs and when i mount the sd in my laptop i have the other have remaining on my sd.
i suppose its the magldr sd android rom thats the issue
any insight here?
do i need to do this?

ok good - sounds like you're nearly there. Make sure your Android partition is set as PRIMARY
- yes that link is where you need to look next - i never bothered with that though.
I searched the sd ROMS that supported MAGLDR. They usually had special instructions to make them work.
otherwise search thru that thread.
Zarathustrax has created quite a few pre-made MAGLDR boot files - search for his posts in that thread.
alright ill try that one
ive gone toe to toe with FEB 04 Copes
it boots to the starting htc screen and hangs there.

im running Copes too,
make sure on the fat32 side of your partition that its primary (like Canterbury said) and sometimes ive noticed its fussy in wanting a formatted clean card. yeah takes like 5 or 10 mins for the first boot. youll almost give up waiting lol i know i have plenty of times.

if you interrupted the first install while it was trying to create the data.img it wont boot no matter how many times you try. If you think that might be the case - delete the data.img file on the sd and try again.

[Q] Need help badly!.

Hey guys,
So this is the deal...i have a Magic - mt3g with a 4gb sd card.
This problem started around 2 weeks. The problem is,when i put on a new ROM (mostly 2.2) [previously wipe/reset and format the SD card - swap 32/ext2 512/fat32 the rest] the phone/rom works nicely, speedy, smooth etc.But right after when i install some apps (a few hours later) it starts lagging really badly,i mean horribly badly! No matter what type of rom i put on.
But when i go to recovery and do either of apps2sd or rapair ext ,it works nicely again (i do lose all the apps though >_> )
So what's the prob? is the sd card? im losing my mind here
p.s. the sd card r/w speed has dropped to like less then 1MB/s...a lot less!
plz help
What class is the SD card? Could be your problem there, just too much simultaneous read/write for the card to handle.
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
A few questions.
1. How many apps are you installing?
2. Are you giving it time to "think" on the first boot? I always let new roms sit for a solid 10 mins before setting up. Big difference in stability.
3. Are you using the new radio/spl for the extra ram?
I always kept my apps to a minimum, didn't use apps2sd and it ran ok. It's a slow phone with not enough ram though, that's just the way it is.

1. Before this prob : around 20 (not counting the on board apps that u get with the rom) and no problems with lag or anything...after the prob : 5-10 and then the prob starts ...
2. Yup
3. Nope.I never changed my spl/radio ,and all roms allways worked perfectly

***********************************
Like i said, for 5 months no probs, and all of a sudden probs ... without any major changes to the phone/sd card ... just started happening
p.s. should i exchange my sd card (for a day or two) with my friedns (in his SGS) and see if it's the sd card? or not?
A swap would be wise. Most likely the SD card is going out, but that's just speculation. I started running into the same issue with my myTouch 1.2 and I'm pretty sure the CPU was going out.

I suggest you update to latests Radio and Spl, since you said you havnt because nowadays the newer froyo roms require it.

There are a few threads that walk you through setting up fastboot and adb. Do a quick search. Basically you go into the bootloader, select fastboot and issue the commands.

I just tried it and nothing, i tried with another SD Card of 1gb, and the same problem
Start over from the beginning. If you aborted a first boot of android then your left with a corrupt data.img which will never boot.
You do not need a 3.14 rom to run android.
Redownload the build you want. Make sure you follow the instructions in the rom thread.
Boot to the HTC screen you saw before and wait... it make take more than 30 minutes.
If you need to stop it halfway through then make sure you delete any data.img that is in your android folder.

Well you have to do some reading!
To point you in the right direction, got to the rom thread of whichever ICS 4.0.4 rom you have chosen and read the first post.
You will find instructions for the installation of that rom , including system partition size (which I would say is your problem!).
What rom exactly do you have?

350 will work also but.. what remains in userdata? When I look at the partition it has 1 MB used in it as best as I can recall (looking at it via TWRP extended). Anyway, we agree - makes no real difference if 350 or 400 as long as it is more than 180!

I am pretty sure you can use SD recovery from here, put twrp2 folder on your sd card and boot it via magldr ad sd, then you should be able to resize your nand partitions, remember to backup first
