Partitioning SD card.

I need help partitioning my 8gb SD card. I used Rom manager and it restarts my phone but when it reboots, all data is intact and its not partitioned at all... anyone have any idea how do I partition it then?..

If you boot into recovery (I assume you are using Clockworkmod since you have no details in your post) then you can partition it directly from there. Boot into recovery then goto advanced then goto partition SD card pick your sizes. If this does not work try to format it first. FAT file system. Also be sure to back up all of your contents before any of this. Dont just drag and drop if you want an exact copy be sure to use Xcopy with the correct parameters for your application

have you tried to use any tools off the market such as minitool or paragon?

I have trouble with sdcard!!

I have partitioned the sd card to use link2sd when i used the jellyblast v3 rom.!But now,i am using the creed rom v3.5 .So iwant to unpartition the sdcard,i want the sdcard original storage!!How should i do?please help me"" :-X

just format ur sdcard.....
but before that backup all the data...

Or whatever the format was..

You cant simply format to unpartition the sdcard. Use any partition tool to unpartition first. Then format the whole sd card.

its better to format than use minitool....it sometimes make things difficult...

partition will stay, it only FORMATS the partition

you should be able to use the default windows disk management to remove it

backup ur files from sd card first at all:silly:

Op is asking how to remove partition.. not how to wipe/format partition.. so your answer is wrong for this question. So the correction..
You would remove it if you don't want to use the second or third(swap) partition anymore.
@ op.. use any partition managers like minitool, easus etc to remove it or as stated above windows disk management will do.. you would have to delete both partitions in sdcard and create a new partition of fat32.. search in Google.. you will find good guides..
But make a backup of sdcard first before doing it..

if you use some kind of partition manager, you can remove the partition without losing data, but always backup

err.. no.
Formatting only resets data on that partition. I mean it only clears data from that partition.. it won't delete the partition. Say you have 2 partition.
If you format in phone. It will format first partition. Second partition data will be intact. And it won't be deleted either.

you should be able to use minitool to remvove any sd card partition
copy anything you want to save onto pc
open mini tool
delete all partitions on sd card
create a new partition of fat32
hit apply
you could if you wanted just merge the partitions or delete the unwanted partition then extend the other partition into unused space but the above method is quick and simple

Try formatting the sd-ext on CWM advanced tab

I try to move my apps on sd card but i can't..
The button "Move to Sdcard" doesn't appears..
I saw a tutorial with adb(pm set-install-location 2)..i do it but when i try to install app it says that hasn't enough space..help please :/

You cant move every app to sd so try any other methods like link2sd or using any scripts
For using those you will need root access and an external partition for details search in the development section

try link2sd its the best just be rooted no need for a sucend partition you move to sd delete system app and make a user app a system app

you need a 2nd ext partition on your sd card
then click on each app and click create link
then you can link it to sd card

move all your sd card data to your pc
format your sd card with your phone from phone settings
go into cwm
advanced
format and partitions
format sd card
select at least 1gb ext 2nd partition

When i go to apply update from sd card the says
E:unknown Volume for path [/sdcard]
Its not opening my sd card
Than how to i select cwm.zip

if your sd card is not regognised after format then theres something wrong with the sd card

I dont know why you are in recovery because I told you to boot the phone normally and format the sd card from the phone settings menu

How to create second partition and move apps to sd card

1)Download Aparted and link2sd in play store.
2)Now go to settings and open storage and unmount sdcard
3)Open Aparted and choose tool and tick part 1 and choose delete, and tick part 1 and choose create and choose Fat16, and set 3000Mb IF YOUR SD CARD IS 4GB.
4)tick part 2 and choose create and choose Ext4 and set 900Mb IF YOUR SD CARD IS 4GB.
5)Open link2sd and choose ext4, and he say mount script and reboot your device.
6)Open link2sd and choose apps and select create link and the apps is moved to sd card
If you want to delete your second partition.
1) Go to settings → storage and unmount sdcard
2) Open your Aparted and tick first partition and seconds partition and choose delete.
3) tick first partition and choose create and choose Fat16.

Ext2 for stock rom, ext4 for all rom, I think ext2 is better

I may give this a try. Up to now I've been using custom ROMs, but all them them have small issues that niggle me. This solution may be the solution I'm looking for on non-rooted phones.

The solution is GL to SD. No partitions, no nothing. Just awesomeness

So what if your using a 16gb SD card, what would the settings be then?
