Due to my profession I find myself doing the exact same steps in my 7.7 going in and to work.
In:
1. Enable flight mode
2. Dim screen to about 33%
3. Enable power saving mode.
Out:
1. Disable flight mode.
2. Restore full screen brightness.
3. Cancel power saving mode.
I do this to comply with work restrictions and to allow for a full charge to last all day long.
I really would like an app to would allow me to create 2 macro actions, triggered by simple app-like icons.
Will I be better off with "Tasker" or with "MacroDroid"?...Is there a more apt app for this ? (...the simplicity of just an icon trigger is a must...)
Thanks!
GK
Never mind..."MacroDroid" is perfect.
You can do it and much more with Tasker app.

Applications can somehow reduce brightness more then natve settings can do . For example using cool reader I touched the limits of brightness which are not possible through native settings . This can save eye strain considerably .
Thanks.

can you fix it ?
btw there is also another bug I named it "The orientation bug" since if you lock orientation in landscape mode and press power btn to switch off the screen and then hold the tablet in portrait direction now if you switch on screen the tablet ill lock the orientation in portrait direction instead of landscape .
I'll give it a try later because it's not causing me a big trouble. I got notice the 'orientation bug' but I don't think it's a trouble too. Just hold landscape and log on. The screen also keep locking on landscape

Power Control Plus lets you add a brigtness widget that can be set to a quadruple control - low, medium, high, and auto. You can set the low, medium, and high settings to whatever you want, from 10% to 100%.
Works great lasts a long time B-)

I don't see the orientation thing as much of a problem. But cool read seems to disregard the orientation lock. I can lock it in landscape mode, then lay down to read and it switches to portrait mode. Aggrivating as H...
If you have tasker...you can set the brightness for whatever app you want and then have it go back to whatever dimmest you set.
Sleep droid will manage your wireless settings in sleep mode and can read you weather forecast and sleep duration in morning. Enter silent mode in night without missing important calls for which phone will ring.

Are you the dev? Love to have this integrated with an audio sleep timer to automatically turn off music and networks once activated. I know there are special apps for that, but that would nicely integrate with the sleep time tracking function of this app. I know this app supports activation of silent mode, but would be nice if out could pause music as well.

Yes , I am the Dev
Are you referring to integrate various volume used in device like media volume and other sounds to also turn off when activated? I will try to integrate them in next update. Anything else that you think can be integrated which will improve the app?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I often listen to ambient music to fall asleep. I normally start a Sleep Timer app to stop music and turn off internet after 20 min. If you could integrate such a sleep Timer in your app, I could use your app to start my sleep tracking. Basically your timer of today's sleep time would start as soon as I start the timer. In other words I need an app that deactivates volume and WiFi not immediately but countdown delayed.

I don't actually have a use for this app, I just wanted to pop in and say great idea!! I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate something like this. Hell, I appreciate it even though I won't be using it. The fact that it can read the weather to you in the morning is awesome!
pushed an update for sleep droid
1.Ability to set delay after which sleepdroid should turn off settings after enabling sleep mode.
2.Now you can manage media, alarm, notification, ringer volume while in sleep mode.

Day 1 with phone and first charge didn't make it through the night. The ultra power saving mode sounds really promising - anyone seen an app or feature that could set UPSM on and off on a schedule? Or auto-enable it at say 10% power? I hope that's not obvious in the settings and I missed it, I couldn't find anything like it.
Tasker maybe?
Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
It's hard to believe Samsung didn't build that feature in. But they didn't. Taker is a good idea, someone give it a try.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
I bought Tasker and installed to try it out. I was able to set up a profile with tasks for standard settings like radio, bluetooth, mobile data. But I don't see a way to access UPSM as an action. The ability to launch Settings and click a button seems to require root. SecureSettings plugin didn't seem to add any new abilities that would help with this. I'm not too familiar with Tasker so if anyone has an idea on a method to execute upsm I would try it. Seems like samsung would at least put in the option to auto-enable at a certain percentage battery remaining.
Close but no cigar
While im no tasker guru, i have had slight sucsess through starting UPSM. The profiles starts when the batery is below 10% but only launches the UPSM setting screen. Its found under: App/Launch App and you need st select all in the bottom left. This only launches the setting screen, you then need to enable it and select okay. I have been trying to find a way to pass arguments to UPSM but lack the knolege...
I was going to ask the same questions.
Have you had any success on making UPSM turn on automatically at night?
I have the exynos variant. Is it possible to enable double tap to wake the device?
Need this too. Had LG devices for the last year, had double tap to wake sleep too.

I *think* it needs to be a ROM enabled feature.

Which app do you recommend? With very very low battery usage.
I came from an LG and I miss so much the double tap to wake and to sleep..

I wouldn't use any as I prefer the standard AOD.
However, you could try this one...

I use Nova Prime and have double-tap to sleep, but yeah, the dt2wake is the absent feature that is needed. Every time I pick up my wife's G4 I think about how nice that feature is!
I honestly thought I would miss this feature having used it for 3 years but the home button press is just as easy for me.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.knockz You might want to try knock on from playstore. But AFAIK any solution even a kernel solution will significantly drain your battery. AFAIK the devices hardware needs to be optimized for that feature allowing the digitizer to stay activ in a low powermode ( LG,Sony, etc). Anyone please correct me or add more details. Imo pressing the home isn't that bad. It's a question of habit.
Wake up screen
Hi guys,
Sorry for my bad English.
Here is what you need to do for waking up screen on S7
edge, in order to not to press the home button, or
power button.
You jus simply swipe the edge screen, and the message
With steps and notifications will appear.
When that happens, simply put your finger on home
button. (Touch, not press).
And the device will unlock. I think is the most
convenient way to do that. Not Nova, not rooted.
I hope I make myself understand here.
Have a nice day.
All kinds of stupid suggestions here. Just press the home button once and keep your finger touching the button until it reads the fingerprint. Probably as fast as double tap to wake but your device is also secured.
Double tap to wake is a feature that needs to be enabled programmatically at kernel level and the hardware must support it.
Galaxy S7 does not have this feature, at least at kernel level.
Any application that you install that enables double tap to wake is going to make a partial wake lock. It means that your phone is never going to deep sleep and it will drain battery very fast. You have to choose what you want most.

Go to Settings >Accessibility >Dexterity and Interaction> Easy Screen On
Allows you to wave your hand over the proximity sensor to turn the screen on.

Search Tap2wake (AOD) app on play store and install it. by clicking on app icon on AOD you can wake your S7 edge
On my Pixel XL, the screen turns on as soon as I lift the phone and I can just swipe to unlock. On the OP5, it requires you to double tap the screen before you can unlock. The lift-to-wake part works fine and I get that they did it this way to prevent accidental unlocks in your pocket, but the proximity sensor can do that anyway.
I prefer the way it used to work, the way the Pixel works. I have never had a problem with my phone waking in my pocket. Is there any way to get it back to where it will unlock with a swipe after you lift it up? It would be nice if it was at least an option you could toggle. I can see why some people would prefer it this way to prevent accidental pocket unlocks.
Use Tasker. Make a Gesture event context. Your task only needs one action, Run Shell:
input keyevent 6
Make sure Use Root is checked and an the following condition:
If %SCREEN ~ off

I'm trying this out now. Thanks for the tips here. How are you getting Tasker to recognize root? Mine is not prompting me. I'm using Magisk.

Uncheck Use Root and change the Run Shell like this:
su
input keyevent 6
Or you can install the supersu apk.... even though you don't use it tasker will see that you're rooted.

Something still isn't working it seems. Do I need to create a gesture event and record the lifting of the phone? The screen off IF function is red also. I dunno, maybe a little over my head. Tasker always kinda confused me.

Yes, exactly. When creating the gesture, lay your phone on a flat surface. Longpress a volume key to start recording and immediately pick your phone up, then longpress volume again to stop recording. Make the gesture. Then link it to a task containing a Run Shell action with this code:
su
input keyevent 6
You should also go to Tasker Preferences > Monitor tab > Accelerometer > Yes
Edit: Also, your If condition is checking if the screen is off.... so it should be red any time you look at it in tasker, since obviously the screen is on while you're looking at it.

I think I have it all correct now but this red bar next to the linked task seems to be causing no profile to be active. Or root still is not working.
Looks perfect. Check the Run long and see of the profile is firing.
