I have the exynos variant. Is it possible to enable double tap to wake the device?
Need this too. Had LG devices for the last year, had double tap to wake sleep too.

I *think* it needs to be a ROM enabled feature.
Only available with a 3rd party AOD app

Which app do you recommend? With very very low battery usage.
I came from an LG and I miss so much the double tap to wake and to sleep..

I wouldn't use any as I prefer the standard AOD.
However, you could try this one...

Ive no idea how much battery it uses.

It has many bad reviews.. There isn't really another way to do it?

I use Nova Prime and have double-tap to sleep, but yeah, the dt2wake is the absent feature that is needed. Every time I pick up my wife's G4 I think about how nice that feature is!
I honestly thought I would miss this feature having used it for 3 years but the home button press is just as easy for me.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.knockz You might want to try knock on from playstore. But AFAIK any solution even a kernel solution will significantly drain your battery. AFAIK the devices hardware needs to be optimized for that feature allowing the digitizer to stay activ in a low powermode ( LG,Sony, etc). Anyone please correct me or add more details. Imo pressing the home isn't that bad. It's a question of habit.
Wake up screen
Hi guys,
Sorry for my bad English.
Here is what you need to do for waking up screen on S7
edge, in order to not to press the home button, or
power button.
You jus simply swipe the edge screen, and the message
With steps and notifications will appear.
When that happens, simply put your finger on home
button. (Touch, not press).
And the device will unlock. I think is the most
convenient way to do that. Not Nova, not rooted.
I hope I make myself understand here.
Have a nice day.
All kinds of stupid suggestions here. Just press the home button once and keep your finger touching the button until it reads the fingerprint. Probably as fast as double tap to wake but your device is also secured.
Double tap to wake is a feature that needs to be enabled programmatically at kernel level and the hardware must support it.
Galaxy S7 does not have this feature, at least at kernel level.
Any application that you install that enables double tap to wake is going to make a partial wake lock. It means that your phone is never going to deep sleep and it will drain battery very fast. You have to choose what you want most.

Go to Settings >Accessibility >Dexterity and Interaction> Easy Screen On
Allows you to wave your hand over the proximity sensor to turn the screen on.

We hope the issues will be fixed soon
Mine stopped working and I got it working again by turning the onscreen buttons on and off, as well as the double tap to wake, both in settings....then restarted.
A bit unscientific but did the job.
Have a look at the other post, there is a good alternative camera app to download from xda.

Double tap to wake is a great battery drain. It keeps the screen powered up all the time. Is it that hard to stick a finger on a sensor. If you can't make it work and want it there are tap to wake apps

Open Camera is far better than the stock one. The first thing I did was swap.

Dttw does keep the screen on! Do you see the back light? It is just a part of the touch layer managed by the kernel. It should have a minimal impact on battery life and does not prevent deep sleep.

I guess is a mith.. i have DTTW enabled and livedisplay enabled too and no have problems at all. 2 Sims, 5 mail accounts, DISA and Whatsapp working and i have more than a full day (if i downlevel my activities battery last almost 2 full days).
Not required double tap on MM ZUI
Double tap features is not required anymore for me, because the newer ZUI marshmallow version they have fixed the problem with direct unlock from the home key without pressing.
I mean same like Nexus devices.

Nope, as far as I know, zuk use the same layout that opo uses, one cable for screen and another for touch. After that it's handled by kernel and don't have almost any impact in battery life
Best Regards,
Is there any way to make my fingerprint scanner into a capacitive button when the phone is already unlocked? Google turned up some options that say there are apps for Samsung devices, but anything for the axon?
Yes you can. There is an app here on xda apps called Fingerprint quick action. I already have it installed and default action is to toggle notification bar. Home is also an option.

None, I still get more than 6hrs of screen time (2 days of use).

Just to throw my own thread off topic, is anyone else surprised that we're creaming the pixel for onscreen time?

Amazing app. I hope in the future it can be set to Back button functionality so it'd be easier to use the Axon at night. I'm still having a hard time pressing Back or Recent capacitive buttons in the dark.

I'm using the Pie Control app for that - so I don't even have to stretch my thumb down to the bottom of the screen, just swipe in from either bezel. I'm gonna try the Fingerprint Quick Action app - but what happens when you accidentally brush the sensor as your fingers are fumbling around the back of the phone like my fingers often do?

The Pie Control app from the Play store only needs root if you're using some of the special functions (menu) - it works just fine without root.
Also I set this app to turn off with the scanner and don't have problems until I play games and have to move my hands around the back of the phone a bunch. Was frustrating to keep having my screen turn off in the middle of Asphalt 8. Maybe there's a way to make a quick toggle widget for gaming mode?
Is it possible to double tap the device's screen when it's off for the ambient display?
The pick up gesture doesn't always work, and I would rather have it be a action I can do to make it ALWAYS work.
Thanks in advance.
My understanding is that double tap to wake is a hardware requirement (that the 6p doesn't meet). But if you use your first to 'tap it' hard enough you should trigger the gyroscope to wake it

Nexus 6p has double tap to wake feature build in but you have to have root go activate it. I use it all the time and always works so I think it's not a hardware feature, someone just has to port it over or something

I'm using it too, but I did think it would be great if it worked like double-tap-to-ambient-display. That is, doesn't wake it fully just do the same like when lifting it. But didn't have the time to look through the kernel source yet.

You can get tap to wake with a custom kernel like the one I'm using on my stock rooted N6p. Try EX Kernel it's awesome!

But that wakes the phone fully, not in ambient mode.
I would like the ability to turn on screen saver on double tap or to have the ambient display on all the time. I like how my Wife's S7 shows the clock all the time.
Just slide it a little on the table it will turn on. Mine always does that... sometimes piss me off...lol
Hello, are there any gestures for turning on screen in le pro 3. For example as lg smartphones when double tapping the screen turning on. I find in the setting when you press long to back button it goes to sleep but there is not same gesture for wake up. I am using stock rom.

Nope. I miss that from other phones too. There are 3rd party apps that technically do double tap to wake (dt2w) but they basically only by keeping the screen on non-stop and just turning the brightness all the way down. I wasn't a fan of the few I've tried. A custom kernel mod could allow it, in theory.

Well that's because you need to unlock it. Try disabling the option "Power button instantly lock" and it will go to home screen right away in one swipe.

Interesting and thanks, I will give it a try but mind you, you cannot use fingerprint while the phone is on the table with screen facing up, can you? And using the fingerprint defeats the purpose of using this app and in fact you don't need this app or the ACDisplay if you can use your fingerprint.

Yep, I am trying it now and I think my first impression is it being more responsive than ACDisplay both in wave-to-wake-up and pick-up-to-wake-up features. Double-tap to wake up phone does not work at all but rather use to go to home screen once the phone woke up similar to swiping up or down. Notification glance could use some improvement, I like ACDisplay's tap to glance and swipe-down to get rid of the notification. I will check the battery consumption of this app over night.

When we will have sources and custom kernels or roms, this feature will be possible.

No, Nova Launcher don't have any options for that.
I hope that the kernel will be released soon... The double tap wakeup is on my wishlist as well!
" Gravity screen " is another app that you can use.
