I didn't notice any increased usage of battery.
Any other options? because i want tap the phone an wake up.
I have Nova Launcher, maybe this app can help?
When we will have sources and custom kernels or roms, this feature will be possible.
Right now, no way Jose
No, Nova Launcher don't have any options for that.
I hope that the kernel will be released soon... The double tap wakeup is on my wishlist as well!
" Gravity screen " is another app that you can use.

Theirs a app called touch control that will let you slide at the bottom to sleep and has other
things such as double tap to wake or slide to wake pretty cool app to have its on the play store
Install Screen off and Lock from Play and set a double tap to launch 'Screen Off' under Nova>Gestures...>Double tap>Apps.
Thanks

The new LG G2 has "knock knock" double tap to turn screen on and off, but installing a launcher like Nova disables the ability to turn the screen off with double tap, as that is one of Nova's native gestures. Using "Screen of and Lock" was a great solution to getting this back as a means to turn off the screen. It is useful on the LG G2 because the power button is now located on the back of the phone.
Thanks

Thank you so much. That works great.
I have an s3 running slimkat 4.4 but I also have nova launcher, for me the double tap is over the camera/brightness sensor and that makes it sleep.
Cheers,
Nick
Great fix

Oh my god this is amazing for my G3. I didn't even think of this. Thanks!
Some ROMs like C-ROM and LiquidSmooth have the "Screen Off" shortcut, so you don't have to download a 3rd party app. Gestures > Double Tap > Actions > Screen Off
I'm on Purity 4.4.4 and the double tap to sleep on the statusbar has been one of the most handy features so far. You can save your power button on any screen, not just the desktop.
Mahdi ROM also has this feature, as well as different custom kernels
Sadly on the N4 to have slide2wake you will need some compromises like touchscreen remaining active during call when s2w enabled.
To enable it flash hellscore kernel latest and trickster mod or swipe2wake from play store.
Be aware of the active touch durng calls
Double tap to unlock works with Nova Launcher if the device is locked via the back button. What I am looking to do is double tap to turn off.
Any ideas or help in configuring the Nova double tap function to execute this action?

Double tap the notification bar. You can probably set it up to shut off home screen taps too with gestures - i'd assume.

I guess this is what I'm looking for. Which setting it is to assign to the gesture of double tap in NL settings.
For now, the double tap of the notification bar works great.

What you could do is get screen off and on from the playstore and then assign that to the double-tap gesture. Hope that helps.
Thanks wargreymon89 - installing now. seems like a perfect fix.
In Nova launcher you can assign an activity for a double tap...anyone know what activity "knock knock" is? Ive went through the list a few times and couldn't figure it out.

Tried a few things, ended up using Screen Off and Lock from play store. Works like a champ. Just set double tap to shortcut, activity, then screen off and Lock.

Truck,
I assume you have Nova Launcher Prime then? I just have the regular version. Please confirm. I would love to have double tap capability again on my HTC One M8 like I did with my previous phone, the LG G2.
My M8 has double tap to WAKE already installed. Will doing this disrupt that, or just add to it? Please confirm.
Thanks,

No, you should be fine. The double tap to sleep works on the homescreen of Nova Prime, and then you already have double tap to wake on the M8. There won't be any disruptions.
Is it still not native within Nova Launcher like KKLauncher or Smart Launcher?
Do we still need third party app?
Quick question, are you guys just turning off your screen, or turning off AND locking? I'm looking to JUST turn off.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to shut off the g2 when using a launcher? Usually you double tap on the screen to shut it off but with the launchers it doesn't allow that. Please help....

Double tap notification bar?
Get an app to turn the screen off, and set it to the double tap gesture. I use "Screen off and Lock". Apex gestures seem to be a little slower than the native Knock Knock functionality so occasionally it requires a second try or 3 taps though, nothing significant really.
There's a button on the back. They moved it from the normal side-mount location.

IamPro and Slayer are both correct. I use both of those solutions.
Is it possible to double tap the device's screen when it's off for the ambient display?
The pick up gesture doesn't always work, and I would rather have it be a action I can do to make it ALWAYS work.
Thanks in advance.
My understanding is that double tap to wake is a hardware requirement (that the 6p doesn't meet). But if you use your first to 'tap it' hard enough you should trigger the gyroscope to wake it

Nexus 6p has double tap to wake feature build in but you have to have root go activate it. I use it all the time and always works so I think it's not a hardware feature, someone just has to port it over or something

I'm using it too, but I did think it would be great if it worked like double-tap-to-ambient-display. That is, doesn't wake it fully just do the same like when lifting it. But didn't have the time to look through the kernel source yet.

You can get tap to wake with a custom kernel like the one I'm using on my stock rooted N6p. Try EX Kernel it's awesome!

But that wakes the phone fully, not in ambient mode.
I would like the ability to turn on screen saver on double tap or to have the ambient display on all the time. I like how my Wife's S7 shows the clock all the time.
Just slide it a little on the table it will turn on. Mine always does that... sometimes piss me off...lol
Hello, are there any gestures for turning on screen in le pro 3. For example as lg smartphones when double tapping the screen turning on. I find in the setting when you press long to back button it goes to sleep but there is not same gesture for wake up. I am using stock rom.

Nope. I miss that from other phones too. There are 3rd party apps that technically do double tap to wake (dt2w) but they basically only by keeping the screen on non-stop and just turning the brightness all the way down. I wasn't a fan of the few I've tried. A custom kernel mod could allow it, in theory.

Try this to enable ambient display and wave to wake up feature.

Also try Fingerprint Quick Action for notification pull down

I tried it but it doesn't effective because it is working after fingerprint. I want to find something which can wake up phone without pressing power button or fingerprint sensor.

Well that's because you need to unlock it. Try disabling the option "Power button instantly lock" and it will go to home screen right away in one swipe.

This an old APP, used to like it 2 years ago...try ALWAYS ON DISPLAY-AMOLED...using it better than the ACTIVE DISPLAY, you don't need to used the pattern, you can use your fingerprint. Trust me, ACTIVE DISPLAY is an old app, works well when fingerprint is not present before.:highfive:

Interesting and thanks, I will give it a try but mind you, you cannot use fingerprint while the phone is on the table with screen facing up, can you? And using the fingerprint defeats the purpose of using this app and in fact you don't need this app or the ACDisplay if you can use your fingerprint.

Yep, I am trying it now and I think my first impression is it being more responsive than ACDisplay both in wave-to-wake-up and pick-up-to-wake-up features. Double-tap to wake up phone does not work at all but rather use to go to home screen once the phone woke up similar to swiping up or down. Notification glance could use some improvement, I like ACDisplay's tap to glance and swipe-down to get rid of the notification. I will check the battery consumption of this app over night.

Well I was wrong as it is not battery-friendly as ACDisplay. It keeps on popping out even without waving the hand or picking up the phone. I uninstalled it now and reverted to ACDisplay. =D
