Yeah... i just looked at the review and the length of it and assumed it to be in-depth. When i read it - after posting the link here - it wasn't much detailed or infact that useful. Further he used a proto too. (a close to the final one, but still a proto)

Well, they just didn't count RAM dedicated only for graphics, processor, etc. If you want to count it, then it's Xperia X1 512MB ROM / 384MB RAM and Touch Pro 512MB ROM / 288MB RAM.
Hmmm.........

Now that's still in the air and up for discussion.
er u know, I inquiried ATI for confirmation about the 3D chip, they still haven't replied yet; I did that because with I feel SE isn't really honest to us, they didn't even reconfirm about the much debated 256/384MB of RAM furthermore they never give any detail about the 3D chip, in fact the only statement about the 3D chip is that can be found from xperiancers which only stated about the 3D chip made by ATI, no further proof at all... suspicious...even more the slowness of the 3D effects for the panels when in rotation suggest that perhaps X1 doesn't even have 3D chip ; don't count the video performances because videos are 2D. But there are some videos that shown X1 playing 3D games smoothly so there are a probability that it really have 3D chip.
Now I just want a review from gsmarena!

Xperia Review by the Unoffical SE Blog - 384 MB RAM Confirmed...

Hi,
Finally a really in-depth review - really! And like i pointed in the title:
"The X1 comes with a total of 384 megabytes of RAM memory. Only 256 megabytes is visible in the system, but this is because these 256 megabytes is strictly for applications. At boot there’s about 152 megabytes free.
The remaining 128 megabytes of RAM memory is used for both the video graphics and CPU. According to the MSM7200A datasheet, the graphics part of the chipset (presumably the ATI Imageon 2300 or 2700G chip) is capable of delivering up to 4 million 3D triangles per second, and 133 million 3D textured pixels per second fill rate. Furthermore, it supports OpenGL ES - link that up with the large amount of dedicated video memory, and you’ve got an awesome power horse or gaming machine."

new news for me though. I know at the system memory it only shows 256MB of RAM, but I didn't know there's 128MB of hidden memory for GPU, etc. In that case, I wonder if it's the same for other HTC device like HTC Touch Pro, or is this an unique architecture for Xperia?
I did observed that the memory after bootup, is much more for Xperia than HTC Touch Pro, maybe that 128MB of hidden memory is making that difference.

Yes, it is new to me too as it only states that X1 has 256MB Ram so it has the extra of 128MB memory hidden, no wonder it is faster compared to my previous Touch Pro.
Good Job, SonyEricsson!

Sorry bro. Been out of the scene lately, and having seen this today was new to me.
That's no proof at all. We already knew that the Qualcomm chip has hardware acceleration capabilities. Even the Diamond and Touch Pro has it but there is a rumor that it isn't utilized because HTC didn't buy the license for it.
Until someone opens up the X1 and spots the exact 128MB memory chip (only the flash memory and the 256MB RAM chip have been spotted as of now) I won't believe anything. Information is rather dubious it needs to be cleared out by facts (and hardware pictures).
Also the source is rather biased too. The "unofficial SE Blog" as they call it, is SE friendly and will write anything will come to their mind to help SE image and sales. I've read the review and while I think it is overall detailed, on some points their objectivity is quite questionable.
Sounds good, but if Sony cant even get the freaking panels to work smoothly with low res screenshots, i doubt any other software will ever use this.
No game developer will limit his games to one phone, so they come up with rather simple games without 3d stuff...its not like with the iphone where millions of people have the same phone with the same hardware/software base...because of that, they have alot of great games that utilize the 3d hardware but i dont see that happening for any WinMo device.
There might an optimzed version of coreplayer or that PS1 Emu, well might.

damn true, we have nothing but words.
Also, think about it. A whopping 128MB VRAM for WVGA resolution? A desktop PC with 128MB VRAM on it's GPU could play full on 3D games at SXGA resolution easily. Doesn't sound logical to me at all if they put that much VRAM on this tiny device. Way too generous for HTC. 16MB or even 32MB sounds a lot more reasonable and realistic.
^ yep, I've also said that a few times here.....
so in the end I for one, can call SE is a liar here.

RAM amount

ok pdadb says 256 gsmartena says 368 the phone itsefl says 268.
whats the deal guys?
Android 1.6 limits the amount of ram that is available for the phone to use. After we are able to upgrade to 2.1, you will see the full 368.

i did read somewehe that 1.6 limits as to what ram we are told ie even if we had 512 wede still be using 512 but would only ever read 256. ur explanation sounds much better
Well.. if you did make a new thread about the RAM i will ask something to.
I read a thread here, and someone put this benchmark:
Motorola Droid 20.7 FPS (Android 2.0).
Nexus One 27.6 FPS. (Android 2.1) 512 RAM
Acer Liquid 34 FPS. (Android 1.6)
Xperia X10 34FPS+ est. (Android 1.6) 386 RAM
It is a bit strange that our X10 with less ram and a slower OS is the best performer in this benchmark.
So what do you think?

Ive seen that benchmark be posted here too. It holds little credibility since we don't know its source or what the benchmark was even about.
was it speed benchmark or graphic benchmark? If it was graphic therefore the phone got higher score due to 65k colors screen as the GPU doenst need to full load as the 16M screen^^. Anyway its still a bit strange, cuz the Droid should get higher score as its GPU is much better than Nexus One (maybe cuz of Froyo). It should be like this in term of graphic Nexus One < X10 < Droid, I dunno about Liquid one

droid has the worest gpu sgx 530 which is able to output 7 m triangles only while snapdragon gives 22 m triangles
also apparently sizes of ram arent able to be used over 256m until froyo

Bigger Internal Memory vs Higher Processor

Heya folks....i read from many sources on the web saying that internal memory on android device will give better performance versus the external one. Some say that even the best class 10 micro sd will perform not as good as built in memory especially when loading HD games.
So I'm planning to buy android phone which has large built in memory, in this case i pick sony xperia TX, but now sony has launched a new device which is xperia SP. It has the qualcomm S4 pro and adreno 320 which is better compared to TX's S4 plus and adreno 225. But the problem is it has a small ammount of built in memory (about 5gb user available). Which one should i take?
Xperia TX!

In my view you should take the Xperia TX with the higher amount of builtin memory.
I'm shure that you won't need a high-end processor for your daily usage. It has also enough power for the most games available in google play.
And I can say that you don't hav a much fun if the internal memory is to low, especially if you're planning to play hd-games wich will probably need about one or two gig of memory
So in my view you really don't need the SXSp...
I hope this helpes you a bit,
icebeanpie
And sorry for my bad english - I'm from germany
You could also just get a HTC One or a Samsung GS4 wich hav both, big storage and a nice processor...
Bigger internal memory ruless...
I usually put huge data game on internal memory, it reduce lag n rendering time (trust me, I done compared it)... But I still have 32gb class 10sdcard to keep media like video, music n stored picture..
It suck to have generated 10 post just to tell how happy n thankfull iam for using a rom they make.

Sony Xperia Z4 was disassembled

Someone has torn down Sony Xperia Z4/Z3+, share the information here!
http://www.witrigs.com/blog/sony-xperia-z4-teardown/
Thanks for the link. I see few typos in the original post. WCD9330 should be Qualcomm codec & Sil8620 is Silicon Image MHL 3.0 transmitter.
Anyways, I think the RAM is also mistakenly listed as DDR3. Going by the part number 'K3RG3G3' [I hope I read it right & couldn't read the last two lines ], it's probably the same 1600 MHz LPDDR4 ram [K3RG3G30MM-MGCH] M9 has :good:
