Hi people,
I have the opportunity to buy a HD2 for only 10 euro,
only problem is broken usb connector in the phone itself.
Is it possible at all to flash recovery and roms, or do i have to repair it?
Thanks in advance
Re: [Q] broken usb
Check the version of hspl and radio.
With clk 1.5 + you can partition your nand!
It can also be installed via sdcard!
Have a read of the clk 1.5 thread for the hd2...

To be able to change android :
Get the clk 1.5 nbh file and put it on the root of your sd card (as you will not be able to partition nand with magldr.).
Restart the phone and hold down vol down button, when asked to continue push power button and wait for installation to complete.
Then to boot to clk, power on the phone holding the back button.
From the settings menu you can partition your nand, it will have installed with a default partition size of 150mb.
After partitioning your nand with the correct size for your chosen rom ( I recommend NexusHD2-JellyBean! by tytung) boot to recovery by holding home button on power up.
From there select Install zip from sdcard and install the rom by selecting the rom zip file, which of course you have already put on your sdcard!!
Read the rom thread for details of partition size etc etc..
To install windows phone - not sure .
Win mobile 6.5 place nbh on root of sdcard and reboot holding vol down etc. ( this will wipe clk).
Edit: Custom WM6.5 roms are ok,( not tested by me).
Also wanted to add a list of apps that help to survive without USB port...
WiF iADB,
RootExplorer
AirDroid
And TWRP Extended recovery for the HD2
Good luck...

Ah yes, nice one.
I can also get my hands on a cheap HD2 with a broken USB port, but having an unavailable phone while charging is not an option for me. Also i charge a lot in my car. Maybe if i can get my hands on some spare batteries...

Spare batteries are very useful, charge one while using one.
I don't use my hd2 as a primary phone, only for fun, and backup if something happens to my o2x
Re: [Q] broken usb
Yeah I got 1 spare battery for my current hd2 (main phone) even though the usb port is working.
The hd2 with broken port I can get my hands on is still running stock wm6.5 so I think it's not flashable.

That's great.
Just a reminder that if you flash stock WM6.5 you will loose clk AND HSPL!!!
So best to stick with android and clk 1.5+ (there are other versions available which include twrp extended recovery thru' the great work of kokotas).
Actually even with stock wm6.5 you can run android using nativesd ext4 and haret.
Me thinks..

I have also a broken usb device and solved charging by doing the powermat wireless charging mod, using the back under battery connector.

AFAIK flashing wm6.5 from sdcard will wipe hspl.
From pc it can be done.

This happens if you flash original stock wm6.5 rom , and if you flash custom wm6.5 roms you do not lose hspl. (via SDCard)

About wireless charging its all up to whether your auxiliary back connector is live or not (unfortunately it's not on all models)
I actually stripped open a usb cable and attached the black and red cables on the back connector and device immediately fired up USB connected /charging.
Actually there is a powermat hd2 product that replaces your back plate and connects to that connector. Just make sure it works before hand.

ehmm, what do you exactly mean by the auxiliary back connector?
the yellow or the red parts in beneath image?
yellow, they were intended (or so rumour has it) for use with a car kit that never made it to sale.
The red ones seem to mainly be sprung to keep the back tight, and also perhaps to ground the internal electronics, since they rest against bare metal on the cover.

my htc hd2 is bricked, the screen is stuck at the white tmobile screen.
However, i can get to the red, green, blue, and white screen.
i read a comment on a old thread, there was a way to fix it, but they didn't post the comment. So is there a way to fix my hd2?
more details on how it might be bricked.
i left my phone uncharged causing it freeze, so i reset it.

First off your HD2 is not bricked. If it wax bricked it would not so much as turn on.To save your HD2 do one of these two things.
Download the official update from T-Mobile.com. Look behind your battery to find your IMEI number to enter. Next make sure your HD2 is good and charged I know this is hard as it will not boot but just let it charge for a good while as you do not want the battery to die during either method of flashing. Now while the phone is off hold the volume down button down and press the power button but keep holding the volume down button down. When the phone is in bootloader(multicolor screen) connect your phone to the computer via USB and wait for Serial in the white bar of the bootloader screen to change to USB and for your computer to show it recognizes your phone then right click on the update package and click run as administrator and run the update utility. This should flash the stock ROM but if you have MAGLDR you will loose it and if you have HSPL you might lose it.
Now the secound option you have is to right click on the update package and click on view or explore wich ever one you see and find the RUU_signed.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh or LEOIMG.nbh as it is not case sensitive. Then take a 500MB to 4GB SD card that is formated with Fat 32 and place it into a USB SD card reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer. If you are not sure about the format. Go to "My Computer" and find the card reader, it will be a removable drive or a mass storage device (make sure to make a back up copy of the intior contents of the SD card first as it will wipe the card clean)and right click on it and click format and then Fat 32. Copy the leoimg.nbh file to the root of the SD card. After coping it to the SD card place the card in your phone and put it into bootloader the same as mentioned above but keep the volume down button held down until you see searching on the phone screen and then let the volume down button go. You will have to press the power button to comfirm it. This should flash your phone to complete stock as it will remove MAGLDR, CWM, and HSPL if you have it on your phone.
There is other options to but I highly suggest going back to stock and then starting back over again as to me it just simplifies things some. Also seeing as you have a T-Mobile HD2 do not flash a radio that looks like any of these 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any radio like this 2.xx.51.xx as any of these radios will brick a T-Mobile HD2.
after flashing it back to stock rom, can i flash an android rom again?
is there another way where i can skip the stock rom and just flash an android rom?

Yes you can reflash a Andriod ROM if you go back to stock but you would have to flash HSPL 2.08 again, flash MAGLDR 1.13 again, and CWM if you want to use it.
If you just want to flash another Andriod ROM just turn your HD2 off and then turn it back on button keep the power button down until the main menu of MAGLDR comes up (that is if you already have MAGLDR on your HD2) and then follow the instructions from the Andriod ROM on how to flash it using MAGLDR or CWM if you have it.
If you do not have HSPL and MAGLDR on your HD2 uou will have to flash both to hour HD2 befor you can flash a Andriod ROM. To flash these do this but your HD2 into bootloader (muticolor screen) and connect it to your computer via USB cable and wait to see USB in the white bar of the bootloader screen and that your computer recognizes your HD2 then flash wichever one you are wanting to flash. You will have to do this for every individual thing you want to flash. You also need to flash HSPL 2.08 first then MAGLDR 1.13 and then CWM if you want it.

No you have to have MAGLDR to install Android. Try installing Clock Work Mod (CWM) and use it to install your Andriod ROM. Just do a search for Clock Work Mod for HTC HD2. Then read and follow the instructions in the ROM thread to use CWM to flash it.
i have a few problems when trying to install any rom using magldr.
First, whenever i boot up to the magldr screen, sometime it will freeze and i have to take out my battery.
Second, When installing a rom, it gets stuck at "the booting android from nand 123456 go go go" screen.
What could be wrong with my magldr, i already tried to re-installing it and it still acts up.

Take your SD card out of your HD2 and then boot it up and see if you still have the problem. If it is gone you need to back up your SD card and do a full wipe of it and reformat it using your computer and a SD card reader. Format it Fat 32.

Run a task 29 on your HD2 then reclash MAGLDR and see if this helps it should, unless you have some bad boot sectors.

Well you can not fix bad boot sectors persay witbout replacing the NAND memory chip which acrually requires the replacment of the intior mainboard of your HD2. Because you can not just replce the chip cause of the wah the mainboard is made. Wht you can do is use a JTAG device and some special software to go in and mark those sectors as bad so the phone will no longer try to use those sectors.
Ok I'm trying to install NAND Android on my HD2 & have found a thread that I can follow but to get started I need to have SPL 1.42.0000, 1.62.0000, 1.66.0000, 2.07.0000, 2.08.0000 or 2.10.0000 installed & I had 3.03 having just debranded the phone using HSPL.
Now I know I have to use bootloader to downgrade which I have managed to do but now have "Not Allowed" come up on the screen, the phone just goes into tri colour & now shows SPL 1.42.0000.
I think I know the reason - this was a stock rom I downloaded from the HTC site & my phone is a TMobile UK so presumably I would need an SPL as above for the TMobile network to strat with? If so where can I get one from as HTC don't appear to have one on their site with the SPL numbers as above?
Many thanks
Junks

Thanks Sam - Didn't realise that, I still have to get the phone to start though as I can't now get a connection to the PC as its stuck in tri colour mode with no USB
Plug in the cable, when "serial" becomes "USB" at bottom of bootloader screen, you're good to go. Forget you ever heard of an "activesync connection",,, it doesn't mean the activesync program, it means " USB connection"( using the activesync drivers)
Thanks again Sam, sorted that now & got HSPL4 loaded.
Need to put up another post now as stuck on the MAGLDR screen & cant get the NAND DAF to load!! I shouldn't have started this!

Use Clock Work Mode Recovery to flash your NAND Android ROM. Check my sig for a link to CWM. With CWM all you have to do is copy the .zip.file to your SD card and then use CWM to flash it. It is very easy this way. The thread on CWM will tell you how to flash it and all info need to know about it.
Thanks for that but I've only just managed to do the simpler method wrong & don't understand the CWM at all at the moment. Was just trying to get the easiest route for my first flash but after trying three NAND ROM's I get the same error after loading MAGLDR & running the DAF.exe
As MAGLDR is loading...........SS SD kernel open failed
Then after running the DAF.exe files
Happen error

Go read the thread on CWM!!! As I said you just copy the .zip file of the ROM to your SFD card wich is how you download the ROM meaning you have to only download it nothing else. To copy it to your SD card use USB MassStg option #4 of MAGLDR but you have to have your phone connected to your computer via USB cable. To flash CWM connect your HD2 via USB and select the USB Flasher option #5 of MAGLDR then run the DAF of CWM. This will flash CWM to yor HD2. when your phone reboots keep the power button pressed down to get MAGLDR back up then select AD Recovery option #8 of MAGLDR. This will bring up CWM, then select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choos zip from sdcard" then find the .zip file that you just copied to your SD card and select it and it will flash the ROM. Oh yeah you have to use the send button to select each thing. Now what else do you not understand?
Look at my signature for links to MAGLDR and CWM.

I intalled the cleandroid zip file but I guess since it didn't work you meant extract to the SD card (CWM didnt find the cleandroid zip file)? Clean droid is also my fav rom
Assuming that you are able to boot into MAGLDR screen and you have the Cleandroid rom in your PC.
Now, in MAGLDR screen, select menu no.5 (USB Flasher) and subsequently connect your phone ( Plug UsB to PC). On your PC, run the DAF.exe of Cleandroid rom.
If you succeed, it will reboot to android.
Before doing that, please make sure battery above 50 %, spl 2.08 HSPL and radio 2.15.xx were installed.
Good luck

Yes MAGLDR makes your phone do that. Have you been able to flash a ROM yet no? Are you making sure your going to the 'USB Flasher' in MAGLDR? Run the daf when you're there, if you're getting that error still, make sure you disable USB connections inside of ActiveSync or WMDC on Vista/7.

I would suggest you to reflash winmo from boot loader screen using micro sd in order to be able to charge battery. After that, you can retry the android flashing
Thanks - sorry if I'm a bit thick here, so does that mean I've put the phone back to original then start the whole process over again from the beginning?
You're battery should be fine while the USB is in. It won't die on you while flashing through MAGLDR. Once the USB is in.your phone it will he fine. Silly old cautious men. haha

lol Ok I'm going to try one more time then give up!!

Tried with & without WMDC running
Then tried as suggested using CWM but after getting through all stages the last bit I get CWM Recovery files not found!! I checked the SD card & the Cleandroid winrar file is there, its there zipped & now unzipped in a temp folder (which shows on the phone) & also in the root just in case..........nothing nada zippo.............files not found.
Any last ideas before I buy a Nokia?? lol
Its really frustrating, I managed to get all the way through on both routes but can't get the ROM installed either way.
Thanks
Are you able to go in to CWM by going to AD Recovery in MAGLDR? How are you trying to flash a ROM? Go in to the settings in WMDC and make sure the USB Connections is unchecked.

Sorry Skellyyy but yoy are wrong about this statement as you have to have a ROM runing for your battery to charge. MAGLDR does not support battery charging yet.

So I broke the digitizer on my HD2 and I replaced it well I ripped off the volume controls because I wasn't paying enough attention so now I am screwed because I flashed a custom rom to the phone and then I installed magldr.
Now my phone only will boot into magldr and I cannot select anything or flash anything else because I cannot scroll using the volume keys..
The cheapest I can find the part to fix my volume is $60 and I do not have it... So I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can get magldr off the phone so that it will boot back into windows it should still be there I just cant boot to it...
The other option is can I put android or windows on an sd and will magldr boot it because when it starts it gives an error about not being able to boot off the sd because i dont have a card in there...
I have searched and read and I can't find a solution for this because my volume button does not work that is really screwing me but I need my phone.
Please help!

Correct you no longer have the required fuctions to interface with MAGLDR, or boot into bootloader. Thus you can not flash Win Mo via SD card or USB, flash CWM via option#4 USB Flasher in MAGLDR, flash a Android ROM via CWM or option #4 USB Flasher, or even flash cLK (which you could use fastboot commands to flash a Android ROM to but not for the faint of heart).

Not correct, Windows Mobile is no longer on your HD2 at all. Win Mo was rcompletely removed when you flashed MAGLDR.

The other option is can I put android or windows on an sd and will magldr boot it because when it starts it gives an error about not being able to boot off the sd because i dont have a card in there...

This I do not know for sure if it will work or not because I do not know the defualt settings for MAGLDR. If it is set to boot from SD card on boot then yes placing a SD card Android build on your SD card in theory should work. It is worth a shot. just make sure it is a MAGLDR compatible Android build, it is several of them now. Also be sure to read the instalation or booting instructions in the first 1 to 3 posts of the build thread.

Windows Phone 7 + MAGLDR V1.13
I boot up. HTC screen. Then MAGLDR V1.13 screen. Then another HTC screen (Windows Phone 7 HTC screen). It blocks there for quite some time. Then restarts. It's all it ever does. I can access MAGLDR V1.13 menu, no problem there. It was working fine yesterday =\
What can i do? Help :S
Reinstall the ROM and tell me what happens

What Radio have you got on your phone?
I would re-install your ROM as walidhazem suggested, but make sure that you do a task 29 first, then flash either radio 2.12.50 or 2.15.50 as these seem to be the 2 best radios for WP7.
What SD card have you got as your issue could be related to that. Do you have another SD card you could try? You could also try using SDFormatter to re-format your SD card and then try.
Let us know how you get on.
Thank you for both replies!
If the phone is connected to a power source while in the magldr screen, it charges right?
Just making sure phone could be at 50% more power or not. It's been charging all night.
as far as i remember it doesn't charge.. but even if it's less than 50% i usually do the flash.. just b sure it's not very low..

If you still have the magldr screen then boot in the rom. The reason it getting stuck is that the phone is too hot. Remove the battery for 1/2 hour then try again.
Do wait as the HTC screen is showing for a while until it loads the rom.

sudeep, how can i be sure it's not very low since i can't go the Home Screen.
FlowerPotmen, it's been charging all night, but i tried before that. It wasn't hot then. Also, i don't restart when it stops at the HTC screen. It restarts itself =\
Should i flash another rom? I'm afraid it can brick. If i'm to flash, I'll flash the WM6.5 Official.

No need to flash wm6 just use task 29, then flash-in maglder 113 again, then flash your favourite rom again. But make sure to re-format you micro sd card first.

I can't instal Windows Mobile Center since "i don't have" a Windows Mobile device. I need the Active Sync feature needed for the RUU files. Without that i can't sync Task 29 or any new rom. What can i do?
Go to bootloader and install Roms like you used to do when using ActiveSync.
(Bootloader: Power off phone > Hold volume down button and boot > when you see a tri-colour screen connect the USB and wait until "Serial" to "USB" )
^^
That was the answer to your previous post. But to answer your original question :
Restarting in WP7 is a common, incompatible sd card, issue, try to use another sd-card and reinstall WP7 again.
Guys, i managed to Flash the official rom again. I'm gonna stick with Android SD for now.
Thanks for all the help and tips. I really appreciate the help.

Try changing usb cable, is it a genuine htc cable?
I had problems with spurious cables before!!
I take it it charges when booted?
Yes it charges when booted and no it is not an official htc cable but it used to charge it before ( i had cLK and then i flashed WP7 and when i reverted to cLK it can't charge when off)

Are you using a different sdcard?
if not try a different sdcard as wp7 messes around with the sdcard which can also cause strange issues!!
Otherwise get a htc cable, 5 euro on e-bay.
What is the recovery that you use, what version?
Swyped from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium
cwm 5.0.2.7
Edit: not paying attention...tis not me you were asking. lol
With clk 1.5 rc1 it is either 5.0.2.6 or 7 not really sure, anyway the OP seems to be gone walkabout.
