[Q] Have a big problem please help - HD2 General

So I broke the digitizer on my HD2 and I replaced it well I ripped off the volume controls because I wasn't paying enough attention so now I am screwed because I flashed a custom rom to the phone and then I installed magldr.
Now my phone only will boot into magldr and I cannot select anything or flash anything else because I cannot scroll using the volume keys..
The cheapest I can find the part to fix my volume is $60 and I do not have it... So I am trying to figure out if there is a way I can get magldr off the phone so that it will boot back into windows it should still be there I just cant boot to it...
The other option is can I put android or windows on an sd and will magldr boot it because when it starts it gives an error about not being able to boot off the sd because i dont have a card in there...
I have searched and read and I can't find a solution for this because my volume button does not work that is really screwing me but I need my phone.
Please help!

It is not clear from your post, did you flash MAGLDR before or after you accidentally broke your volume keys?

Correct you no longer have the required fuctions to interface with MAGLDR, or boot into bootloader. Thus you can not flash Win Mo via SD card or USB, flash CWM via option#4 USB Flasher in MAGLDR, flash a Android ROM via CWM or option #4 USB Flasher, or even flash cLK (which you could use fastboot commands to flash a Android ROM to but not for the faint of heart).

Not correct, Windows Mobile is no longer on your HD2 at all. Win Mo was rcompletely removed when you flashed MAGLDR.

This I do not know for sure if it will work or not because I do not know the defualt settings for MAGLDR. If it is set to boot from SD card on boot then yes placing a SD card Android build on your SD card in theory should work. It is worth a shot. just make sure it is a MAGLDR compatible Android build, it is several of them now. Also be sure to read the instalation or booting instructions in the first 1 to 3 posts of the build thread.

[Q] How can I boot WM 6.5 After Installing MAGLDR 1.13

It is said that you have to hold the power button to load MAGLDR after resetting the phone, but when I reset the phone it automatically boots to MAGLDR, instead of WM 6.5. Can you guys tell me how to access WM 6.5 from MAGLDR?
I forgot to mention that I always get this message before it boots to MAGLDR after resetting.
Rebooting Android from SD
Android loads at 11000000
From MicroSD
Load zIMAGE
K:\ zIMAGE
SD Kernal Open Failed.
Should I be concerned?
I haven't installed Android yet, but I'm in the process of installing Clockwork 1.3
I also tried to do a factory reset through MAGLDR, but it only goes back to the MAGLDR main screen. Help? Please?
First of all, use the "edit post" button to add text to the first post instead of making two new
Yesterday I got the exact same problem. Someone said that it is because the MAGLDR can't see the wrongly flashed ROM. However, I did not notice that it is something wrong with it.
What ROM do you have and which HSPL version ?
I had WinMo 1.46 stock and HSPL 2.08
my apologies.
stock? i'm using Radio 2.15 HSPL 2.08
did you correct your problem?
would it be safe to manually hard reset?
You can't boot Windows Mobile 6.5 if you have MAGLDR installed. But there is simply way back - just run RUU with stock 1.48 ROM on your PC, while having your HD2 connected to PC (phone has to be in bootloader, that rainbow screen).
I didn't correct my problem. I had to flash WinMo back from the SD card but the raven_raven's method is also possible.
So raven, why I can't boot into WinMo with MAGLDR? I've seen many people doing that by not keeping the power button pressed
From what I know, it's impossible to boot into WM6.5 if you have MAGLDR on your device. Its purpose is to load Linux kernel, not WM .
I'm kinda confused right now
If you flashed MAGLDR, why would you want to use WinMo? The main purpose of MAGLDR is to boot Android/WP7 on the NAND. It over-writes the WinMo you had on it before.
The error you're getting, you shouldn't be worried about it at all. All it is is that you haven't flashed a ROM yet. What do you mean you're in the process of flashing Clockwork? It's not hard... just flash the DFT file on your PC via the USB Flasher option and you'll have Clockwork. Then you install your .zip ROM, reboot and you won't get an error anymore as you'll have a ROM flashed.
Thanks for the help. It is greatly appreciated.
I can't access the USB Flasher. When I connect my phone to my PC, my SD card doesn't show up, instead, its recognized as an "unspecified" MAGLDR driver. I can't do anything with that.
But I can access my SD card through USB Mass Storage, but I don't want to install DFT on Mass Storage when I'm told to use USB Flasher. I don't want to do anything stupid

the usb flasher option is not to mount your sd card, it is just used to flash files/roms via daf.exe. use the usb flasher to install clockworkmod1.3, once that is done boot back into magldr and go to ad recovery, and recovery should start. from there you can mount as usb mass storage. i belive the one in magldr doesn't work very well, or at all for some, the one in clockwork always seems to work well for me.
guys its simple your not supposed to use MAGLDR if your going ot go back WM6.5.
tunr your phone off. hold the volume down button and press the power button, do not let go of the volume button, its going to bring you a tri colored screen. once your in that screen plug in your USB cable to the phone and to your computer. once that is doen flash a official WM6.5 rom let it do what it does, its going to restart and there you go back on WM6.5
there is no way you can boot Win 6.5 if you got MAGLDR, never seen it here
(unless someone shows a video or something)
the only way that can be achieved is to go into bootloader (tricolor screen)
and flash Win 6.5
I thought MAGLDR was for dualbooting. I wanted to go back to 6.5 in case I ran into any problems with the android builds Nontheless, I successfully installed Cyanogenmod, and it works perfectly. I dont think i'll be going back to 6.5.
Thanks for the help, it was greatly appreciated.
Hold volume down and power button when turning the phone on, it will get you into tree color screen...then plug your phone into pc .....on the of run rom installer for win 6.5 and after it is done you should be able to boot into win 6.5.

Hi guys!
I have the same problem.
my question is if I the official ROM is it going to erase/format the old one that I had?
The reason is that I did not backup everything and it would be nice if I could go back and get the rest of my contacts...
Is there any way of having a dual boot

Are you honestly incapable of reading? What kind of complete MORON flashes something to their phone without a full knowledge of exactly what it will do?! If you install WinMo again you will have lost all of your data that is on the internal storage of your phone, and to be honest you deserve it if you are stupid enough to flash something without reading about what it does.
On a more positive note, you can flash NAND Android instead of reflashing WinMo if you want, using this guide. Since you would go ahead and flash this without reading up about it, I should probably warn you that IT WILL DELETE WINMO FROM YOUR PHONE! Is that clear enough for you?

First off your HD2 is not bricked. If it wax bricked it would not so much as turn on.To save your HD2 do one of these two things.
Download the official update from T-Mobile.com. Look behind your battery to find your IMEI number to enter. Next make sure your HD2 is good and charged I know this is hard as it will not boot but just let it charge for a good while as you do not want the battery to die during either method of flashing. Now while the phone is off hold the volume down button down and press the power button but keep holding the volume down button down. When the phone is in bootloader(multicolor screen) connect your phone to the computer via USB and wait for Serial in the white bar of the bootloader screen to change to USB and for your computer to show it recognizes your phone then right click on the update package and click run as administrator and run the update utility. This should flash the stock ROM but if you have MAGLDR you will loose it and if you have HSPL you might lose it.
Now the secound option you have is to right click on the update package and click on view or explore wich ever one you see and find the RUU_signed.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh or LEOIMG.nbh as it is not case sensitive. Then take a 500MB to 4GB SD card that is formated with Fat 32 and place it into a USB SD card reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer. If you are not sure about the format. Go to "My Computer" and find the card reader, it will be a removable drive or a mass storage device (make sure to make a back up copy of the intior contents of the SD card first as it will wipe the card clean)and right click on it and click format and then Fat 32. Copy the leoimg.nbh file to the root of the SD card. After coping it to the SD card place the card in your phone and put it into bootloader the same as mentioned above but keep the volume down button held down until you see searching on the phone screen and then let the volume down button go. You will have to press the power button to comfirm it. This should flash your phone to complete stock as it will remove MAGLDR, CWM, and HSPL if you have it on your phone.
There is other options to but I highly suggest going back to stock and then starting back over again as to me it just simplifies things some. Also seeing as you have a T-Mobile HD2 do not flash a radio that looks like any of these 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any radio like this 2.xx.51.xx as any of these radios will brick a T-Mobile HD2.
after flashing it back to stock rom, can i flash an android rom again?
is there another way where i can skip the stock rom and just flash an android rom?

Yes you can reflash a Andriod ROM if you go back to stock but you would have to flash HSPL 2.08 again, flash MAGLDR 1.13 again, and CWM if you want to use it.
If you just want to flash another Andriod ROM just turn your HD2 off and then turn it back on button keep the power button down until the main menu of MAGLDR comes up (that is if you already have MAGLDR on your HD2) and then follow the instructions from the Andriod ROM on how to flash it using MAGLDR or CWM if you have it.
If you do not have HSPL and MAGLDR on your HD2 uou will have to flash both to hour HD2 befor you can flash a Andriod ROM. To flash these do this but your HD2 into bootloader (muticolor screen) and connect it to your computer via USB cable and wait to see USB in the white bar of the bootloader screen and that your computer recognizes your HD2 then flash wichever one you are wanting to flash. You will have to do this for every individual thing you want to flash. You also need to flash HSPL 2.08 first then MAGLDR 1.13 and then CWM if you want it.

No you have to have MAGLDR to install Android. Try installing Clock Work Mod (CWM) and use it to install your Andriod ROM. Just do a search for Clock Work Mod for HTC HD2. Then read and follow the instructions in the ROM thread to use CWM to flash it.
i have a few problems when trying to install any rom using magldr.
First, whenever i boot up to the magldr screen, sometime it will freeze and i have to take out my battery.
Second, When installing a rom, it gets stuck at "the booting android from nand 123456 go go go" screen.
What could be wrong with my magldr, i already tried to re-installing it and it still acts up.

Take your SD card out of your HD2 and then boot it up and see if you still have the problem. If it is gone you need to back up your SD card and do a full wipe of it and reformat it using your computer and a SD card reader. Format it Fat 32.

Run a task 29 on your HD2 then reclash MAGLDR and see if this helps it should, unless you have some bad boot sectors.

Well you can not fix bad boot sectors persay witbout replacing the NAND memory chip which acrually requires the replacment of the intior mainboard of your HD2. Because you can not just replce the chip cause of the wah the mainboard is made. Wht you can do is use a JTAG device and some special software to go in and mark those sectors as bad so the phone will no longer try to use those sectors.

Stuck on "Go Go Go"

Hey guys, I've managed to install MAGLDR on my HD2, and I have tried to install CWM.
First I tried v1.3 and everything went OK till i got stuck on the "Go Go Go" screen.
Then I tried v1.2 using my SD card, but i still end up with the same problem.
The thing is I don't have any ROM installed on my HD2 so I can't do anything more !
Would greatly appreciate your help =)
do you use MAGLDR 1.13?
did you try and reinstall your ROM?
Do you use a compatible radio?
Yep I'm on 1.13
I can't do much more, my HD2 won't even boot into the bootloader ! I'm basically stuck on MAGLDR with no ROM and no ability to install back a standard windows ROM

I followed the steps carefully, so it should be OK but how can I be sure ?
Make sure your battery pins aren't loose. Push them back with your finger and try again.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Tried about everything I could hardware-wise without tearing it apart... unfortunately the battery pins don't change anything.
Quite a few members seem to be facing the same problem recently: no access to the bootloader, stuck on MALDR... wonder what's the problem.
The only thing I can do is run WP7 on it, which is not very usable.
i made this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945427
maybe it helps?
Thanks yz.hd but I can't get to the bootloader (volume down + power only brings me to MAGLDR), nor CWM...
It's not possible to only be able to get to MAGLDR and not bootloader I don't think. Just hold down the volume button and then power on while still holding down the power button and see what happens. I had a problem like that where my HD2 would get stuck at "1234" and then stopped and rebooted. The battery pins where the cause.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I've tried loads of times, the combo volume down + power really doesn't bring anything up, no matter which way I put it... a complete mystery !
So you've tried to install CWM? Did it work or not? Are you able to go to the USB flasher in Magldr? And install it again, try to see if the AD Recovery works?
Yep, I tried again, the USB flasher works perfectly fine, CWM installs perfectly. But when I go to Ad recovery, it still stays on "Go Go Go!".
Same thing if i install CWM via my SD card
Try formatting SD card (you will lose your data). Try again.
How long does it hang?
If that doesn't work, try to install a DAF rom, and see what happens.
you probably don't have the 'copy to sd' folder in the root of your sd?

What do you mean by a DAF Rom ? One that is directly bootable from MAGLDR ? I have tried a WP7 rom which works ok. But I still can't install a bootloader to bring it back to WP 6.5 and start the process all over again to install CWM...
@DKxda: is it necessary to have a folder ? I copied the two files directly in the root of my SD.
DAF rom is a rom that doesn't use CWM to run (directly from magldr).
Nope I'm still stuck on Go Go Go if I want to install a DAF Android ROM (no problem with WP7 ROMs though)...
Sorry mate, I'm out of options you could try (well, install CLK, but you need the bootloader for that...)
Hope someone else will help you fix this!
Edit: When does it get stuck at go go go? Immediately at boot or after selecting Boot AD Nand?
You can try to ask it in the Magldr Thread, cause it seems like a Magldr problem to me...

Well, since yesterday I'm getting a similar issue!
Stuck at go go go or just after on the boot screen which is completely messed I get the top 1/4 screen ok, the rest is bad lines, then the bottom half is dark.
Yesterday I tried installing a CM7 build for my HD2... stuck at Android logo...
So I reflashed CWM Recovery 400Mb partition ok, restored my last backup and rebooted... Now I have this issue all the time!
Tried my many backups, reflashing CWM Recovery a couple of times, factory reset from CWM or MAGLDR...
Nothing will do!
Is my HD2 dead or what????

[Q] Urgent Help Needed

I also wanna task 29 but I don't know how to get to the bootloader from MAGLDR 1.3

ummm i dunno if magldr can switch you into the bootloader, but doesn't the regular way to get to the bootloader work?
regular way:
1. make sure phone is OFF...take out the battery and plug it back in to make sure
2. hold down the volume down button
3. tap the power/end call button to power on the device
4. keep holding down volume down button
...bootloader should appear!
i guess you are a senior member so you must be looking for something else, it can't be as simple as above, is it?

Mate,
how about flashing stock rom via SD? dont use your old sd, get the new one, and try to flash the stock rom.
If you can pass that, then you can go back to try magldr again
or else,
I think it may be a hardware issue related, may be the volume down button is damaged. If this the case, since you are in android nand, you cant flash stock rom from USB sync
I hope that is not the case though
goodluck

Hey blackashsid, sorry to hear you are having troubles. Without being able to get to the SPL bootloader you will not be able to flash any .nbh file to your HD2. This translates to you not being able to flash a Windows Mobile ROM stock or custom, a different radio version, splash screen, any HSPL or SPL, or cLK. And yes flashing via SD card is no good to you without the SPL bootloader.
Option #5 USB Flasher in MAGLDR will only flash CWM or A DAF ROM.
Your issue is somewhat strange to me, I really don't understand why you are having this issuer unless it is hardware related.

If your volume buttons are broke you definitely should switch to cLK with touch recovery and you'll never have to worry about it again since you use the home button long press while rebooting to go into recovery, and in cLK you can use quick boot app or rom manager or power menu to reboot into recovery. Is super easy to install with the hd2 toolkit.

Only works under winmo, requires winmo drivers to be active, which isn't the case when android is running.
@op, your solution is to fix the volume keys.

can they be hard wired ?
Sorry, no clue, never had one apart. Perhaps you could dismantle it, make the connection long enough to flash? Be warned though, many people end up breaking more, the hd2 is not easy to take apart without damage.
Well the touch recovry works with magldr too, you don't meed clk for that, but you still won't be able to use recovery.
Have you tried the htc hd2 nand toolkit? i think i heard it has an "express mode" where it install everything without you doing anything, so maybe you won't need the buttons?!
Worth a try i'm guessing.
Good luck

my bad, thats not what i meant, sorry. i meant the touch recovery works on magldr too, you don't need clk to get touch-recovery, but you won't be able to get past magldr itself in order to get to recover (sorry, english isn't my primary language, i hope you know what i mean). have you tried the nand toolkit?
am i able to go back to windows mobile ?
sorry, cant tell you anything about winmo, haven't used it since first android built came out (a year ago?), hope you'll find the help you're looking for
ok thanks.
does anyone know if i can get windows back on the hd2 with the volume buttons working ?
update...
i stripped the phone down and got a screwdriver on the torn volume button and have navigated to recovery..
now does clk support rom manager from the market place as with that can i select to boot up to recovery and bootloader ?
or is that not possible ?

Yes and no! You can use Rom manager to boot into recovery but not into bootloader since it doesn't have an android bootloader Rom manager won't find it. If you were able to rigg the buttons while the phone is apart, I suggest make sure you have plenty of battery and reboot while pressing the volume down and when you see the tricolor screen, keep it there, plug it into the pc and open the hd2 toolkit and install cLK and then I would suggest to put the touch recovery img file into the toolkit so you can flash it while setting it up, there should be instructions in the touch recovery thread on how to add the recovery.img to the toolkit.
