defy app storage - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am buying a motorola defy but I want to clear the doubt first that how much memory is available in defy for apps only?

about 1 Gb
i think it's very good

I heard that defy bootloader cannot be unlocked. It will be as it is or some chance in future so that I consider buying it?

Yes, not unlockable, but you can use custom roms and kernels.

You mean the right choice, right? XP
I selected a Morotola Defy+ for my smartphone because it was the highest ranking "rugged" phone at GSM-Arena that I liked and could buy in my area (the price range is nice, too).
Don't worry about the locked boot-loader, 2nd-Init is used to get through that, so you can still use Nandroid backups and custom ROMs. The advantage of a locked boot-loader is that it's much harder to brick your phone, too.

Buy nexus one?

I found on C-list a nexus one for T-Mobile all for $300 he will be giving me the memory card, case and Some other things, and the phone has no scratches according to the owner since he always kept it safe but now switched to Verizon. So should I buy? I think either way it is an investment if I don't like it as some on eBay go from 360 to 400.
I'm currently on a mt3gs which isn't so full of devs... I'm sure I can sell that for a good 200$ or more and enjoy a much better device
Win for me yes? Only thing I ask is, upon trying to test the device in person, all I have to do in pop in my sim card correct and if turn it on, and if all works well, calls, data, text then... its clean right?
Thank you!

Make sure the device is physically good, does not have the power button problem and does not have bad memory blocks in the recovery partition (which would prevent you from flashing a custom recovery)

Thanks! Well to make sure it has no power button issue, I just have to press it correct? Hold it and make sure it works right? As to check for memory blocks, how can I do so in a public area since we are meeting a local Walmart
Sent from my Htcclay's Remixed Remix using Tapatalk
you'll have to gamble for the memory block then
power button --> press it quite a few times making sure it responds

if its on FRF91 you dont need to downgrade
use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736271
i used it as well and it worked fine for me EU FRF91
i can flash custom roms and recovery what i like without unlocking the bootloader.
also about customs roms, just try a few. i was quite happy with CM6.1RC1
and now im using MIUI wich is also a lot of fun
Flash the latest nightly from cm its full of win

AP vs Original

hi all , i bought an AP w8 and the problem for my w8 is literally endless ...from lagging music player , FC apps , SD card errors , tons of bricks and so on ...i used to have a x10 mini i rooted it but back then i dunno what root does so it's rooted nothing else ...but the my x10mini is flawless,,,no lags watsoever it's perfect...so it raises a question is there a difference between AP and Ori?

Sent from my X8 using xda premium
what i meant was that my ori x10 mini was significantly better in most parts compared to my AP w8 ..and IMO these two phones are extremely similar in UI , but the performance between these 2 device is felt ...and spec wise they are nearly similar
oh and in malaysia AP is like a secondary seller? i am not so sure about AP while Ori means original from a authorised seller ..something like that
AP?
Is that your shortcut for Android Phone? Or some other word?

ok ok but what your question?
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
The X10mini has got smaller screen, and it's resolution is smaller than the X8/W8. This is why it is faster: the 600MHz is farly enough for its screen, but the HVGA is sometimes too much. It's like when you gaming on PC and change the Game's resolution from 720p to 1080p. It need much more HW.
AP erm...not so sure what it stands for...i only know it's like the same exact phone but the parts are not original ...i thought other countries have AP phones...does anyone else knows about ap? in malaysia everyone knows about it
oh...so it's not about wether it's ap or ori?
my question is does
AP and ori phones affect the phone's performance?
from my understanding, AP or original dont affect the performance. BTW,i'm from Malaysia.
AP-Approved Products. from what i understand, the difference between AP and original stands at the warranty and the seller. AP product are sell by 2nd party provider, example:SE give some companies some of their product to be sell by the 2nd party. this is where the warranty changes. by this method, ur warranty is not 100% covered by SE. what i mean is,they will repair ur phone but if ur phone is so badly damaged to point of no recovery, they will not replace it with a new one or with the same price phone.
Original-They are phones sold at provided Sony Ericsson centre, where sometimes if u buy a phone,it might come with add-ons. for example,if u buy a walkman phone, u might get a set of earphone or dock that come with the phone. the warranty also cover ur phone whole-ly, which means that they might raplace ur phone if its so badly damaged

yes second hand phone reduce phone performance too!!
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
nono it's not second hand it's a secondary manufacturer
bro tell us more about AP ? never heard of that,do that have SE name on it or another one?what about other things?any physical difference ?
"Original" = products distributed by the authorized distributor appointed by SE, 100% original accessories (charger, battery, earphones, etc)
AP = products distributed by 3rd party distributors not recognized by SE and thus are not covered under SE warranty. usually includes non-original accessories. however the phone itself is fully 100% original although some may be refurbished defective dead-on-arrival units.
note: distributors are NOT the shops where you buy them from. those are called "retailers"
but i think all of product that not original it not so good like original

as far as i know
ap has shorter warranty but cheaper
ori longer warranty but more expensive
difference is quite much about RM20 worth of diff
seems ppl here only read the last post or nothing at all so my post up there is wasted. lol

It's not the battery life that is amazing..it is the size of the battery.
The lte dropping isn't the phone. Its Verizon's CDMA and LTE authentication methods in place. My gnex drops data completely at times BC they haven't figured out how to successfully authenticate sim cards 100%yet. Its dumb....I lose data once a day at least. Recently 45minutes ago on my ten minute drive home steaming spotify

You gotta go with the nexus, everything about it is far superior. Unless you want to print poster size pics from the phone camera, if so apple wins.
The Rezound is terrible, the Razr Maxx is alright but has too much bezel and i'm not a huge fan of motoblur. She'll out the extra $ and get the Nexus, it'll also be first in updates and rooting it is ridiculously easy.

Urgent Advice needed..!!

Please Guide me i am in very difficult situation...
i am going to buy mytouch 4g but i am really afraid of that so called " Bad Chip " issue ..
i am in asian country so no return or no warranty ..
so any one please help me what to do should i buy or not to buy i like to flash roms and etc
and i want to use it like a android should be used please need a little time of you to save my money...
This is not the best phone on the market...but if you buy it anyway, you should not have problem with bad chips unless you start flashing different rom on your phone..
I agree with above, this is not the latest phone out so you will be outdated by almost over 2 years, but if you still buy it just don't start flashing ROMS like a maniac. I have had no problems on either my phone or my wife's phone.
It's still an awesome phone. Go for it, the chip issue isn't a dealbreaker, I've had 4 "bad chips" and thus far, no 'Failed pu'

I agree with jjbadd, my friend has been flashing roms on his "bad chipped" MT4G for a good year and change now with no problems at all. I'd say go ahead and buy it, we get a lot of good roms on our phone. There is the risk of getting a faulty chip, but if you're willing to take that risk you'll enjoy the phone a lot.

Been out of the G4 community for awhile but thinking about getting one (I found a deal that's pretty cheap on a working model) - did something change with an update that has now proven to be a problem for the bootloader and being unlocked?
I'll do more research of course but I figured I'd just ask and see if that gets me the info faster.
I had heard that over heating had cause some the bootlope problem.

it plays a role but this just makes the problem show up earlier. very slim chances if you get a 601 onwards.
It's 'dead' because of bootloader obviously. Bootloop causes people to go away from this phone, but we would have something left after them. We don't even have a proper G5 Port while G3 is rocking it for a year... More of that, we can have Nougat UX 6.0 port 'easily' but it requires experts to work on that. 2015 was a hard year for smartphones. Every of major phones was a flaw. G4 bootloop, S6 RAM battery camera, HTC M9 was bad at everytbing, Sony? It's just Sony who buys it. Till nexus 6p(which also loops?????) there wasn't a good phone in 2015. 2016 is much better. We got Galaxy S6 2.0(or did they call it S7 afterwards to increase sales? jk), we had HTC comeback in style, LG failed once again, OnePlus released their best phone. Compare those two years... 2015 is at loss

No, actually it's an F500S, oddly enough. Because I live in Las Vegas and we have tourists from all over the planet here constantly there's always a chance that when I buy a device from someone on craigslist it's either a lost one that some tourist left behind in a cab or at a bar or something or somebody flat out stole it from them and the risk is that it'll be blacklisted. This one I just bought for $35 is working, in good condition but with some cosmetic issues on the frame, the front glass it pristine without a mark on it thankfully. It was apparently sold by SK Telecom so it's the Korean model (I think, I literally just got home and sat down as I'm typing this).
I have no idea what it's capable of but it does have a PIN code lock on it. I put my T-Mobile SIM card in it and it connected fast so I know it'll work but I've got to do some research on either bypassing the PIN code lock or just doing a clean flash of the factory ROM (if I can track that down) and going from there. It could always have the Google FRP on it so I'd have to figure out how to get around that as well (there's always a way it seems, sometimes it's just a pain in the ass to do it but it can be done).
So, at the moment it works, no guarantees if it'll suffer from the bootloop, of course, but the serial number is 505KPMZxxxxxx and the date code on the battery is 2015.04.28 so it literally is a 1st production run model.
I know it could die at any moment, sadly, but I'll see what happens. I don't play games on smartphones so really the only time a smartphone ever gets warm because of CPU usage in my experience is running a benchmark like Antutu (which I'm just not going to do with this G4, I know how it performs already) or installing a ROM/the initial first boot which churns along like crap by design.
Wish me luck...

still have another trend on 3000mah that last like stock.. i use fecebook app. since my carrier gives me 9GB and i must use the app not browser.. i get around 3 hour using data connection and with trend on i get 4 hour.
are you charging yours with battery in phone and stock charger or you take battery out and use a separate charger. they say our phone stops at 3000mah if you have 5000mah or 8000mah. wich battery you got?
