hi all , i bought an AP w8 and the problem for my w8 is literally endless ...from lagging music player , FC apps , SD card errors , tons of bricks and so on ...i used to have a x10 mini i rooted it but back then i dunno what root does so it's rooted nothing else ...but the my x10mini is flawless,,,no lags watsoever it's perfect...so it raises a question is there a difference between AP and Ori?

what i meant was that my ori x10 mini was significantly better in most parts compared to my AP w8 ..and IMO these two phones are extremely similar in UI , but the performance between these 2 device is felt ...and spec wise they are nearly similar
oh and in malaysia AP is like a secondary seller? i am not so sure about AP while Ori means original from a authorised seller ..something like that
AP?
Is that your shortcut for Android Phone? Or some other word?

ok ok but what your question?
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
The X10mini has got smaller screen, and it's resolution is smaller than the X8/W8. This is why it is faster: the 600MHz is farly enough for its screen, but the HVGA is sometimes too much. It's like when you gaming on PC and change the Game's resolution from 720p to 1080p. It need much more HW.
AP erm...not so sure what it stands for...i only know it's like the same exact phone but the parts are not original ...i thought other countries have AP phones...does anyone else knows about ap? in malaysia everyone knows about it
oh...so it's not about wether it's ap or ori?
my question is does
AP and ori phones affect the phone's performance?
from my understanding, AP or original dont affect the performance. BTW,i'm from Malaysia.
AP-Approved Products. from what i understand, the difference between AP and original stands at the warranty and the seller. AP product are sell by 2nd party provider, example:SE give some companies some of their product to be sell by the 2nd party. this is where the warranty changes. by this method, ur warranty is not 100% covered by SE. what i mean is,they will repair ur phone but if ur phone is so badly damaged to point of no recovery, they will not replace it with a new one or with the same price phone.
Original-They are phones sold at provided Sony Ericsson centre, where sometimes if u buy a phone,it might come with add-ons. for example,if u buy a walkman phone, u might get a set of earphone or dock that come with the phone. the warranty also cover ur phone whole-ly, which means that they might raplace ur phone if its so badly damaged

yes second hand phone reduce phone performance too!!
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
nono it's not second hand it's a secondary manufacturer
bro tell us more about AP ? never heard of that,do that have SE name on it or another one?what about other things?any physical difference ?
"Original" = products distributed by the authorized distributor appointed by SE, 100% original accessories (charger, battery, earphones, etc)
AP = products distributed by 3rd party distributors not recognized by SE and thus are not covered under SE warranty. usually includes non-original accessories. however the phone itself is fully 100% original although some may be refurbished defective dead-on-arrival units.
note: distributors are NOT the shops where you buy them from. those are called "retailers"
but i think all of product that not original it not so good like original

im using AP (i guess cause i dont buy it from sony center, and there is no "thorus" or "midland" marking...and it works awesome. root in one try, flash first custom rom without bootloop, unlock with only one try. its just great..
as far as i know
ap has shorter warranty but cheaper
ori longer warranty but more expensive
difference is quite much about RM20 worth of diff
seems ppl here only read the last post or nothing at all so my post up there is wasted. lol

Hi does anyone know were i could buy a motherboard for the x10i?
Also if anyone had circuit diagrams of the board i could maybe repair mine
Dude, this is your 2nd thread within a few hours, with (and that's just a guess) the same problem.
I don't think you can buy a standalone PCB, as it is 90% of what makes the phone a phone.
What exactly happened to your or your GFs phone?
Maybe one over here can help out.
But you have to answer the threads instead of starting new ones...
it'd be cheaper and faster to get a new x10 xD

Now this would be a silly thing for the op to do. Perhaps when he purchased the device it was quite good but its an old phone now, and there are many more options that are availibe that do not have the flaws of the x10.
Op, if I were to suggest the smart thing to do, it would be to either purchase a Galaxy S, or even better, obtain an iphone 4. Atleast you would get multi-touch and have a phone that actually functions well as a phone.
Take care

hey guys we (me n rendeiro2005) are working on a project to try n help out users get back to stock settings, especially those with broken USB connectors and who are stuck with a particular baseband...
so if u are one such user please put up a post/reply here with the current baseband u have on ur device and whether it is X10i or X10a...
if u are not sure how to determine this read HERE
i would like to remind u all that the project is still work-in-progress and may or may not work 100%... we are trying our best to make it as clean as possible...
we've spoken but ill post again to get the ball rollling.
here are my details again just for reference.
Hey guys!
My USB connector ist broken.
I am able to charge my device, but its a bit strange.
Via Xrecovery i had the possibility to flash the backup of my mate's stock ROM with root.
After restoring with xrecovery, there was no more xcrecovery menue at booting.
I thought, with unrooting (Z4root) i get rid of the superuser.apk and root.
The problem is, now my X10i is unrooted, but the superuser.apk stayed.
Without my USB connector, there is no possibility to root my device again and delete that superuser.apk.
I only need an updated Rooting .APK, which roots my device with psneuter exploit.
It would be great if somebody can help me with this problem .
Device Details:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i
Firmware-Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband-Version: 2.1.54
Kernel-Version: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build-Number 2.1.A.0.435

wow!!! thats amazing... @some places the service centers dont replace the device but just repair the "motherboard" and then send it to the user... so they might check if the original OS was tampered with... like root/busybox/custom rom/etc... all of which btw VOID warranty...
Then i guess i'm lucky they gave me a new one good luck for all the others with broken usb.

Mine too..
I also broke my USB, infact I was neither able to charge or do USB....
I gave my phone as it is with custom ROM and SE guys gave me replaced motherboard with new IMEI #.
Good luck guys...
I sent mine in for repair nearly a month ago, I called them up to see where my phone is and apparently the motherboards are 'very delayed' and it will be atleast another three weeks before the parts arrive at the service center
I had broken USB (not charging or anything) with root, JIT, Titanium etc and most of the sony apps removed and they just replaced the motherboard and sent it back within a week. No questions asked
Mines broke up about 4 months ago. I gave it for the reparation to the two shops, but non of them helped me. I bought that phone on a internet auction without gwarancy, so I'm probably fu*ked up.
My USB connector is also broken and my phone is currently at a Sony Rapair center in Holland.
On Dutch forums i hear more peaple complaining about broken usb connectors.
The first day i had the phone in my hands i allready was thinking the connector is going to braek inside because it was so difficult to put the usb connector in.
And now it is broken. At first my phone battery drained from 100% to 40 in only a few hours without doing anything. After that it did not charge more than 40% after a whole night in the charger. And after two weeks it was not even possible to charge my phone aymore.
Now i am hoping to get my phone back soon. It is allready three weaks at the repair center. Last time i send an sony for a repair it was fixen within two weeks. Most peaple are getting new phone or refubished ones. I am still hoping to get an new one...
I had an X10i.
Same problem with my X10 after upgrade CM7 last week.
I bought it last july.
My USB connector seems to be normal but the battery didn't charge and i couldn't do anything with SEUS.
Yesterday, I sent it to SE repair center but i completely formated it with xrecovery in case...

ok let me tell u a something... setcpu will just send throttling commands to ur cpu... even if u dont use SetCPU/any other app the CPU by default will keep throttling between frequencies so that the user gets a good balance between performance + battery saving... so when u use setcpu it just send commands to cpu which tell it to avoid certain frequencies...
anyways...
the usb connector issue is related the way the usb connector is connected to the motherboard"/PCB of the x10... hence it has got nothing to do with wht software u use...
My usb port is broken n my phone is out of warranty due to liquid damage bt sum hw i manage to charge my phone by figgling my usb cord ( hv to set the cord in a certain position to get it charge) .. one thing i hv noticed is that when i connect my phone with blackberry's cable, my phone charges better than my stock cable ( i hv two stock cable, bth of dem r proper) ...act i hv a loosen usb port which is attachd to the motherboard. Im now on my 3rd SG2 after different problems with each handset..
story goes,
1st. Phone would drop out of signal randomly. I would watch as the bars would rise and fall. hours spent with orange / phones4u / samsung tech guys and all agreed on a fault handset
2nd. Phone suffered BADLY with over heating. To the point where the handset had become slightly warped and had a distinct rattle where the duel core was. Again, store swapped phone with no questions asked.
3rd. This handset is very slooow straight out of the box, charged up, the phone is very sluggish, takes longer for the screen to light up, there is a delay when typing and apps take longer to open.
Am i destined to never have a decent handset!?
version 2 was lightning fast but the heat was very vary worrying.
version 3 is like being back with the SG1!!

agree on that
well, i have done another factory reset and done some investigation.
I think the slow speed was down to the google back up system.
The first time i set up the new handset, it set about downloading all of my previous apps. Now i dont have root or any 3rd party back up app so i was surprised.
However, i have done another reset and installed the apps manually this time.
The speed is back and im happy.
(apart from idiots posting about iphones!)
How do you determine the build date on the phone if you dont mind me asking?

there is probably a straight forward way ( code on dial screen) but i have an app called Elixir. Gives you loads of stats about your phone.
Can the build date in elixir refer to the ROM? Mine says May 18 2011 09:08:22

you got super badluck
remindes me when i retured 5 harddrives in a row
first HD died
second HD displayed as 2tb (this was when it didnt exist) faulty
3rd had a bad sector would only fill up to 300gb
4th died
5th turns on then dies then lives etc
I've exchanged mine 2 times, until the latest one with Camera Firmware OEMF2 is great one with no issues.
1. First one had pink spot camera and video stuttering.
2. GSM module failure (occasional internet data drop), flimsy battery, bad battery, self-power off especially being placed in the pocked or pressing touchscreen at the bottom.
3. The third one is spectacular. Works perfectly without any issues. Battery is superb. 1 charge, 3 days and 14 ours with moderate usage.
My "old" X10 presented some weird issues with 720p recording and GPS navigation, both rebooting the phone after a few minutes plus the device getting very hot.
At first I thought it was because of some custom ROMs and custom kernels with OC, but I reached the conclusion it was a hardware issue since I flashed back the stock ROM and the issues continued.
Anyways.... today they called me and gave me a brand new arc!!!
I'm kind excited but in the mean time I bought an Atrix and I think I'll sell the arc but not without play with it for a while
That's fairly lucky. I used to work in SE contact centre(in the days of the K750) in the UK and we had to push like crazy to get customers new handsets let alone an upgrade!
Yeah, it wasn't easy at all. I had to submit it 3x and wait more than 30 days each. Was happy if they gave me a new X10. I was almost giving up and suing them according to the BR laws then today I received the unexpected call

Sent with stock original firmware, always. I don't think root is an issue, but custom roms are.
Actually once I forgot to switch back from a custom ROM and the guys on Technical Assistance were really nice and informally refused without registering anything about it. I went home, reflashed original firmware and sent it back like it never happened
More than one person told me that SE had a lot of problematic X10s and if you insist on replace the device, they will probably will give you something new too.
ill buy the arc.

Root or modified firmware will void the warranty and they can see if it's been done really easy in EMMA now.
EMMA will show that modified software has been detected and tell the operator to deal with it as OUT-OF-WARRANTY.
So if you're still under warranty flash it back to stock before you send it in.
So, I just need to destroy my X10 so I can send it back
lucky man
Thats pretty sweet, ive had to return phones to SE before (or an "authorised repairer" in my country, which is 600km's away, at my cost(?!?!)) and all i ever get is the same phone back with the particular part replaced. (which in one case failed again just AFTER the original warranty and repair warranty ran out)
Must be an X10 problem they cant just "fix" for you.
I would drop the atrix and keep the arc, the screen on the atrix is just a bit dodge for my liking, otherwise a great phone with some great standout features, but i'll bet the bravia powered display on that arc is brilliant!
All of you are unlucky lol, maybe it's an error on motherboard. My phone run very smooth, watch 720p, HD game but no rebooting lol
I got my S4 today, rushed home to open the package really excited to come straight onto xda and root it, as I need to run arliberator app in my car and also titanium backup to get all my data over from my old galaxy.
Now I see that i cannot root it because of Knox and that even though it is unlocked after kkitkat I wont be able to use my foreign sims when i am abroad which i always do as roaming costs are extortionate!
well my S4 has sat here all day switched off and I don't even want to switch it on, its a useless brick as far as i'm concerned i am hugely disapointed and really wish I had bought the Z1 or even the old xperia z instead of this SamDung
maybe you are one of the lucky ones with an old boot loader .if your firmware is older than mgg like ending with mga you can root without voiding your warranty .

Are you not still within a cooling off period if youre not happy and want to return it for a refund?
I wouldn't rush out to get the Z1 either as there appear to be issues unlocking the boot loader as in the below link. Ive also had HTC devices were it was nearly impossible to gain s-off (having to perform a wire trick to apply an engineering hboot). If you check the HTC One forums there are people on a recent hboot who are unable to s-off as its been locked down by HTC, which can cause headaches when trying to flash certain ROMs.
The reality is Samsung just isn't making devices specifically catering for people who like to modify/flash custom stuff. If you want full control of your device with an easily unlockable boot loader, then get a Nexus.

Of course I am not willing to void the 2 year warranty on an expensive phone this new, no way!

You do realise that even if you didn't have the locked down Knox firmware, you'd still be voiding the warranty, regardless of if you used an app like Triangle Away, right? That's the risk everyone takes when rooting.
You've basically just come on here and opened a new thread to whine about something the vast majority of us already know about.

warranty is a fiction it dont protect against software bug bricks as there is no chance that you permanently brick your phome that way. it also dont protect for physical damages and water effects. if something is wrong service tell that is your fault anyway. so dont bother about warranty and root it

Umm rooting does not void your warranty. At least not here in Finland. The company is responsible for proving that the cause for say a hardware defect was indeed caused by the software and not an error on their part if the phone for some reason breaks down. They usually don't bother and just repair it under warranty.

there has been issues before on previous samsungs with usb connectors stopping charging, phone randomly switching off etc and who knows what might wear out on the S4 as its still pretty new, I'd rather not take the risk, also if you come to sell your phone and the buyer sees your warranty is void it will make your phone harder to re sell on

I've already accepted the risk. If something happens, it'd be very hypocritical of me to whine about something I knew could and did happen.
I know how easy it is to flash back to stock and hide evidence of it being rooted and customised. I've been doing this since the G1.
You won't find me opening a thread when I don't like something. Especially when it could have been prevented by doing a little research before buying the phone.

Umm rooting does not void your warranty. At least not here in Finland. The company is responsible for proving that the cause for say a hardware defect was indeed caused by the software and not an error on their part if the phone for some reason breaks down. They usually don't bother and just repair it under warranty.

Here in the UK, it's kind of the same. Yet companies here will still try and point the finger of blame at custom software when it's clearly a hardware fault.
