If you mean restoring a Titianium backup of users apps and data, then yes. If you mean restoring TB backup of system apps and data or a CWM/TWRP nandroid backup then NO.

Copy the Titanium backup file from the pc to the phones`d sd card. Install TB from Play, open it and you can restore the user apps and data.
I recommend carbon. Made it very painless to move over everything when I exchanged my defective nexus 4

I have just tried to use titanium backup on my samsung s3, but with official firmware "no root", I think is not possible backup, is it correct?

No, TB needs root. Carbon doesn`t need root. Maybe something to think about for the future. It is quite new but it works well.
First time hear of carbon. I've used TB for 2 years. Is this carbon as powerful as TB?

No it doesn`t have as many options and settings as TB (yet), but there is no root required for Carbon. It backups apps and data or just the data and stores it in the cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive) or on the sdcard (you`re choice). Look in Google Play for more info.
But without root, how will it able to restore the WIFI access point? As I know, only able to access WIFI with rooting

Hi guys and girls, I just sold my htc desire hd and will be buying the dell streak.
I was wondering where the saved game data is located (phone memory or memory card) and how to recopy it to the new phone otherwise I lose many months of saved games...
Thanks.
I dont really know where it is stored but if you are rooted you can use Titanium Backup to backup that application and all its data. Then you can restore on the new phone. If you are not rooted I think but I'm not sure that you can use MyBackup.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my phone is not rooted and I don't plan on rooting it as I'm selling it. I cannot afford for anything to go wrong.
Anyway of backing up the game data without needing to root?
Thanks
Yes I think MyBackup works without root

I think that it only copies the .apk files and not the data if you doesn't have root.
And I think that all your game savings and application data is at the /data/data folder in your internal storage. To access it you'll need to have root.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

Ok, so the BEST thing to do would be to root the phone and then back everything up with titanium backup?
How does everyone back up they're apps, photos, etc. I wanna flash a custom ROM but I have everything setup on stock ROM so its holding me back
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
How to backup:
- when not rooted:
photos, etc.: connect your Nexus 7 to a PC and copy the files to your PC
apps: use a backup app like "App backup & restore" from play store or "titanium backup"
you cannot backup the settings for each app, like your progress in a game. :crying:
- when rooted:
photos, etc.: connect your Nexus 7 to a PC and copy the files to your PC
apps: use a backup app like "App backup & restore" from play store or "titanium backup"
Titanium backup can also backup each app's settings including your progress in a game.
I use Titanium Backup so I can always restore to whatever state I want independant of the (custom) ROM I'm using
but Titanium backup isn't the only tool that can do this, ROM Toolbox (Pro) can also do this.
Anyway, having a custom recovery is essential if you want to install custom ROMs, and to install a custom recovery
you need to be rooted ! (I use TWRP recovery on my Nexus 7 btw.)
Good luck !
^^ what peter said, might I recommend getting titanium backup pro if you get the flashing bug, the extra features help a lot.
Cheers Danny
I recommend titanium backup to backup apps. Everything else is app dependent... I usually backup launcher layout. These backups are stored on your sdcard which is not wiped when flashing so no need to backup to the PC. Also make a nandroid in recovery in case you need a restore point or you don't like your new ROM.

No. There is a partition on the N7 called "sdcard" which is just your internal storage, an emulated SD card if you will. It will only wipe the data, cache, dalvik, and system partitions which leave your data unharmed.

If true, that's a good point to go rooted! ONE More
And then Just to clean applications through google play reinstall. A good way to do it remote from your computer. hence i see how important are the application I previously had.
I used to use titanium backup, Now I use MYbackup Pro. Very simple to setup and use. But still does everything that most people would need.
Another level of backup I use is Applist Backup. It creates a file list of your apps on your sdcard. If you need to restore it links to the play store. I don't use it on the N7, but I do on my phone. If nothing else I don't have to try to remember what apps I have installed.
Personally I never back up data. It's sync'd with Google or the app has its own backup routine.

Has anyone backed up apps on 4.2.1, with a second user?
I am on stock rooted 4.2.1 and have my own user profile (with apps/widgets/settings) and also the wifes on another user profile. We both use our own google user details (for play store etc), does each user have to do a separate back up? I've used titanium before but just wondering how it works with more than one user, as I believe titanium now supports 4.2+, but chainfire SU root currently only works on the 'owner' user profile.

I'm trying to backup in recovery mode but i can't because the backup size is 4.5gb and i only have 1.5gb storage left on my 8gb nexus 4.
How can i backup my files?? can i make it back up to my computer or something? it's because i downloaded so many songs recently/
Transfer old backups to the phone, or make some space on the phone first and then transfer it to the PC
I don't have any backups on my phone at the moment. How can I clear like 4 GB when I need them all?
You'd have to take the data off your phone first, not ideal but I can't think of another way

Titanium backs up APPS and APP DATA. not the system itself. By doing a nandroid, you're basically backing up the WHOLE android OS. 10/10 times it'll work EXACTLY the way when you restore it back. Where as Titanium only backs up the app and their data. Even then, it's not a 10/10 compatability when you restore it. You might run into some app issues.
Take data off your phone which will allow you to do a backup. After the backup is complete, move backup to your computer and all your data back onto the phone.
Delete your downloaded songs or move them to a PC. After u done that u might have enough space to make a nandroid
a pigeon delivered this message.... ** your welcome **
Okay for some reason i can't find the downloaded songs anywhere on the drive when i connect my phone to my pc.

How to backup apps with their data? i am using galaxy y duos s6102, which doesn't support helium app. Is there any other app to backup apps data?
First Make Nanroid Back
Then go to Advanced Restore then Select Restore Data

This is wrong - a nandroid backup only backsup system apps and data and NOT user apps - To backup user apps use titanium backup
No actually that works... just that a nandroid takes up a lot of space...

Hello
I've just made a nandroid backup from cwm recovery to my external sd card. I have the 32gb variant and the 16gb is used but my nandroid backup made by cwm is 3.8gb.. I've searched in the cwm menu for more options to backup my phone but i didnt see any. e.g. full backup etc. It only has backup and advanced restore? I think that the size of the backup would be 16gb.. Have I done something wrong?

Thank you for your advice. I will try Philz as soon as I can. I've customized my omega rom so much with xposed modules etc.. and it's the most beautiful customization I've ever done to my phone and I don't want to lose anything! It's my ideal customization! I've added some s5 features - icons etc and nova launcher with icon packs - played with dpi etc and it' very beautiful! Thank you even if it doesn't work. You've got +1 Thanks from me
If i understand you right, you want to make a backup of your sd card ? You can't do that with a recovery backup. And you don't need to. The rom isn't on the sd card. The 3.8 gb is just right, it made a backup of your rom, that's all you need. You can backup your card to your computer, if you want.
And btw, it's forbidden to bump up your thread in less than 24 hours. People are not just sitting here waiting to answer your questions. Patience.

If you are still unsure, the backup did backup everything (apps, settings, app settings...). It didn't backup your personal files (pictures, music, videos,...). That's not the purpose of recovery backups.
It makes an "image" of your current rom, your personal files it's best to backup them to your computer.
