[Q] Backup games data! - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

How to backup apps with their data? i am using galaxy y duos s6102, which doesn't support helium app. Is there any other app to backup apps data?

First Make Nanroid Back
Then go to Advanced Restore then Select Restore Data

Use titanium backup to backup user apps and data - you need to be rooted

This is wrong - a nandroid backup only backsup system apps and data and NOT user apps - To backup user apps use titanium backup

No actually that works... just that a nandroid takes up a lot of space...

just Use titanium and you will be ok

Silly Question...

Hi All,
Sorry, I got a pretty silly n00b question... but is Titanium Backup or any other backup/restore app needed, if you just do a backup/restore from the ClockworkMod Recovery too?
Thanks
Sam
A recovery backup doesn't cover the apps you've installed, so without Titanium or the like you'll need to restore them manually.

This is wrong.
A Nand backup (recovery backup) through Clockworksmod DOES backup your apps. In face, it backs up EVERYTHING you have on your phone, aside from you SDcard. It makes a copy of your entire phone exactly as it is when you make the backup.
When you make a nand backup, be sure to mount your /system and /data beforehand or you could run into trouble. Likewise, mount your /system and /data when restoring.
As already stated, a recovery backup creates a full backup of your phones internal files.
Titanium backup should also be used.
Titanium is useful for backing up apps but more importantly it backs up your app data. This is a great feature if you change ROM's often as you can quickly restore your app data, thus restoring game scores, settings, etc.
You can also use Titanium to revert to older versions of apps should an update cause problems.

Very useful information I left out.
ah, thanks, so let's say I have a application that requires a activation code, and I switch from Fission to Liberty or whatever ROM, once switched, I can use Titanium Backup to restore my app, and I won't need to reactivate?
Thanks,
Sam

Backing up

Using Titainum backup, I backed up my user apps without system data
and did one backup apps+system data.
Going to install new rom, which one would I use to restore with or without data.
Thanks

How to backup old rom

I want to install this rom over a old one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498
How do I back up the old one and install this one?
And save all the info like Whatsapp, Facebook, Msn messenger data?
For me the best solution is Titanium Backup. Always does its job

It depends on what type of backup you want. Do you want to restore the apps onto new rom?
You can boot into clockworkmod and do a nandroid backup. This would backup entire nand. You would just simply then flash same nand partition and restore rom back when needed.
If you simply want to backups your apps/app data then you can either do the nand backup and then use appextractor to restore apps from the backup to new rom or you can use Titanium Backup to backup/restore all your apps/app data.

Really?! I've done this before and all worked fine, but I always use Titanium Backup as a failsafe method.

You are probably using a buggy version of CWM and it isn't backing up your app data from sd-ext maybe.
Or he's only choosing to restore sd-ext and not data too.

Thanks for your reply everyone. The issue is I am in the process of changing my sd card as I currently have a 1gb card. And most roms recommend at least 2 gb or more.
Yes indeed I do want to copy all apps/memory into new rom if possible?

If you mean restoring a Titianium backup of users apps and data, then yes. If you mean restoring TB backup of system apps and data or a CWM/TWRP nandroid backup then NO.

Copy the Titanium backup file from the pc to the phones`d sd card. Install TB from Play, open it and you can restore the user apps and data.
I recommend carbon. Made it very painless to move over everything when I exchanged my defective nexus 4

I have just tried to use titanium backup on my samsung s3, but with official firmware "no root", I think is not possible backup, is it correct?

No, TB needs root. Carbon doesn`t need root. Maybe something to think about for the future. It is quite new but it works well.
First time hear of carbon. I've used TB for 2 years. Is this carbon as powerful as TB?

No it doesn`t have as many options and settings as TB (yet), but there is no root required for Carbon. It backups apps and data or just the data and stores it in the cloud (Dropbox or Google Drive) or on the sdcard (you`re choice). Look in Google Play for more info.
But without root, how will it able to restore the WIFI access point? As I know, only able to access WIFI with rooting

Backup system data like contacts and photos?

I know titanium backup is great for user apps. But what about system data like contacts, photos and SMS which isn't synced to a Google account. What's the best way to backup and restore these for installing a custom rom.
