Does the one have the same display as the htc droid dna?
I hope not because the color saturation of the SCLD3 was really bad!
Anyone share their info?

Yeah they just got some scissors out to trim the extra 0.3" off. Yes they are both SLCD3 but obviously they are not the same panel.

It's not identical, but should be similar - also SLCD3. The colour saturation on the DNA is almost perfect - check out the CIE diagram here: http://hi-tech.mail.ru/photo/review/Sony_Xperia_Z-rev.html?50#photo All primaries and secondaries are almost exactly what the internationally-recognised standard for displays says they should be. Other displays certainly have more saturated colours, but that means anything you see on the screen doesn't actually look the way it's supposed to look.

I hated sgs2 and sgs3 color saturation because it was totally not natural, the OneX suffered from slightly colder or hotter colors but it was not a big deal.
Anyway the One has a new technology that will differ from DNA because it's not the same size and makers

DHD colours 'washed out' ?

So my new dhd is here to replace my desire... but I can't help noticing the colours on the dhd seem very washed out compared to my old desire...
Any way to mess with the contrast as I only see brightness adjust?
Or is it just the fact it uses a different type of screen and nothing can be done?
The colours looked much more vibrant on my desire...
Cheers!

No it will also be different on a S-LCD Desire since the Desire HD has an ordinary LCD.

edit: no it dosent ignore me lol
Yes if your commingle from amoled you will notice.more natural colours and less colour banding at the cost if slightly brighter blacks.
Having owned many amoled devices I can easily say that the current ones look terrible compared to the many older ones used before they became popular, back when they were not made cheaply with pen and tile configurations :/

Display colors are not vibrant

I have installed SBF 1.5.2 right after I got my Atrix so I don't know if it is related to that but in my opinion the colors of the display are not vibrant / colorful compared to my HTC Desire Z (Vision/G2) and that phone has no AMOLED.
Compared to the HTC the colors all look a little bit greyer and I don't like it.
Is it possible to change that or am I the only one?
Thanks in advance.
You're comparing two different screen types. The Atrix uses TFT pentile and the Desire Z uses S-LCD. The Atrix is already known for some washed out colors like yellow.
Ah, thanks.
So it is not possible to change that with a software update like Google did in Android 2.3.3!?
I agree that the display is "not as nice" as other phones. My captivate IMO looks better.
yes the captivate is brighter but it also hurts my eyes after staring at it for a while. i wonder if there is going to be a program like galaxy tuner for the atrix. with galaxy tuner you can adjust the yellow color of the screen.

It could be possible, we just need to tear down the kernel (once it gets worked around) and play with it some. It was kinda funny though because after giving my Captivate to my GF and getting my atrix, I look at the Cappy and go "Holy crap that screen is REALLY blue"
I was surprised on the Atrix screen. The forum didn't give it justice. The characters looks very sharp. Colors are easy to the eyes and no pixels at all!

just take a look at your battery meter when it's green.
any green (like real green, not dark) text on the web shows the obvious differences between the PenTile display and a regular LCD.
IMHO the display of the Atrix is one of the worst displays in a high end phone that I have seen in the last time.
Only the resolution is great, the rest isn't really high end.
Yellow looks more like dirt and faster scrolling or movements show black shadows (e. g. in Angry Birds).

color issue?

is it just my phone or what here?
I have noticed the saturation of colors on my atrix are just horrible specially green which makes yellow and orange that's why yellow and orange are really off... just me or everyone? if so anyone got an idea on how to tackle this issue?
search is your friend, its not just your phone. Its also not really a problem for a lot of people, myself included, since id take it over supersaturated colors any day.
The Colors on my phone look like the colors on my Touch Pro. What I mean is that they look the way they should.

I cannot complain. My color look ok to me.
The resolution is amazing I can't lie but the quality and the color are **** compared to my amoled desire.. green is too dark and the quality of the picture is wack too pixelated...
everyone who says it's not important is lying at least a little. the screen is not perfect, period. one needs only to look at a green image or moving red image to see the flaws in the screen design.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
As a color blind person I can say that the greens look fine to me. and thanks for saying I am lying even if only a little.
There have been a couple of colour comparisons, and I believe the concensus has been that the Atrix has more "realistic" colours, while we are more used to other devices having colours that "pop" with over saturation. We have become accustomed to over saturation, and so when we see colours on a screen that more closely match real world colours, we think there is something wrong. I will take the Atrix colours over anything else I have used.
<edit> I have seen one comparison where correct colour calibration techniques were used to compare the Atrix to I believe the iPhone4. I will try to find it again and post a link.

Nexus 4 IPS+ display is very better?

hello should move from a galaxy nexus to a nexus4 considering only the question of the display? I care that the display is really powerful, so I ask, it's worth it?
Hell yeah its worth it first day screen looks washed out but its getting better and better samething with nexus 7. Viewing angle on sunlight is just amazing even on 30% brightness whereas on gnex its all dark . black is pure so black oh did I say this phone is faster than the light ?

That is mostly opinion. They are about the same resolution , although the LCD has more accurate colors, so if you want that super lushness, you might want to stick with the galaxy nexus

So I yesterday I compared a display of Galaxy Nexus and that of the new iPhone5. Unfortunately the iPhone5 has a screen with much higher detail. I want to know if it's worth it to go from a new galaxy nexus nexus 4, that is, has a screen that comes close in quality to that of the new iPhone5?

If you fancy that much the iPhone 5 you shouldnt be looking here in XDA mate
Iphone 5: 1136 x 640 pixels, 326 ppi
Nexus 4: 1280 x 768 pixels, ~318 ppi
Yes also Galaxy nexus has a 318 PPI but it's a pentile panel and details of screen is poor respect to other device.

Honestly I wish it had OLED, pentile or not. Im not very impressed by the blacks on this phone, and once it gets dark the screen doesnt look nearly as good as AMOLED, I would say my old low res galaxy s pentile AMOLED looks better after the sun goes down. Its also too desaturated for me, which is a frequent review complaint, theres no punch.
Most people seem to prefer IPS screens over pentile AMOLED but the blacks suck so bad in comparison I'll take deep blacks over jaggy text that you cant really see unless its right up to your face.
imo: blacks>>>>>>>>>every other aspect of a display

the only benefits of PenTile matrix AMOLED screens:
- black is extremely black
- maybe save an unnoticeable amount of battery
the only benefits of RGB matrix AMOLED screens:
- black is extremely black
- colours are vibrant in a cartoony way
- you dont notice pixelation, texts are crisp
- maybe save an unnoticeable amount of battery
benefits of RGB matrix LCD IPS screens:
- extreme viewing angles
- vibrant and realistic colours
- white is white
- you dont notice pixelation, texts are crisp
- colours dont fade
and since a lot of AMOLED uses PenTile, your options are between a ****ty amoled or an amazing LCD

I've got the HOX and N4. I think the One x still has the best display - the colours are better and it just looks so fluid with the way the glass is curved. The N4 isn't far off though.

My opinion if you want...
HD AMOLED screens are amazing... I was very disappointed to learn Nexus 4 was not using it this time.
If you did not own one before you might not miss it... but the contrast is sooooo much better then the kinda blacks you get on an LCD
Plus the technology is amazing... organic material that emits vivid colored light... vs... just white light shining trough color filters like LCD... this is a very old concept.
And you can only notice pentile under a microscope with HD screens

I know that everyone has different taste in screens, so you really have to look at it to decide which you like best.
I haven't seen the Nexus 4 yet, but I compared the Optimus G to the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X, and I thought that the Optimus G looked just as good as the One X. I couldn't see a difference in colors. Icons looked exactly the same to me. I compared the Chome icon on both and the saturation looked the same. I personally can't stand HD AMOLED, and I can notice pentile clearly on the GS3 from the normal distance I hold the phone away from my face and I find it very distracting.
I find the colors on the Optimus G very pleasing while the HD AMOLED in the GS3 looks dirty to me. The colors are too oversaturated and whites don't look right. I can't stand looking at the GS3 screen. I was very excited when I heard that the Nexus 4 was moving to IPS. I wish they could make an OLED with the same color saturation as IPS but the blacks of the OLED.
So, for anyone trying to decide on the Nexus 4, my advise is to go to the store and look at both the Optimus G and Galaxy S3 and decide for yourself.
i, for some reason hate amoled (pentile) screens. i cant stand the screen burn, over pixelated edges, and the "ink spot" effect it has on super dark colors. ill pick dull-ish blacks over those issues, and i dont like everything to be dark colored so it defeats the purpose. thats just my 2 cents though. lol
thats why i got so excited about the nexus 4 screen

Think of it LG makes some kickass TVs. Also Samsung, I don't know why the just don't go that way. It costs 150+ to get a Gnex screen/digitizer. It costs 75 or so for a iPhone LCD screen? Waaaa

Nexus 7 increase color saturation kernel available?

Is there any kernel available for nexus 7 to increase color saturation of the screen? Although my N7 screen looks fine, I am used to Amoled from my phone, so it would be great if I can increase the saturation. It would look awesome with games.
I tried this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netmanslab.sa
but doesn't help at all. No option to make it more saturated, but only less saturated.
Thanks!

Hm..I don't think that app is the one i need..
I don't feel that the screen is washed out or anything like that in general. BUT what I really want is by rooting it and maybe increase the saturation so that it's more comparable to my AMOLED screen on my phone. I know there is an app for Nexus 4 that does exactly this, but I asked the dev if it would work on other devices as well, and he didn't reply at all. This was quite awhile ago actually..
BTW I haven't rooted my N7 yet and the only reason I may root is to increase color saturation.
Maybe someone else has more idea?
Isn't the opposite of washed out colors is saturated colors? Or am I just not understanding what you're wanting?
This should help with color saturation because washed out colors = desaturation. It's the only app I've seen.

I re-read my comment, it seems fine..what didn't u understand? um..you know that AMOLED (the one on my phone) is extremely saturated display right? so I'm used to the display, but N7 display isn't too bad (not very washed out in GENERAL, as IPS is usually like this), but compared to AMOLED it IS washed out. Most people would be fine with this IPS display on N7, and I'm okay too actually, but it would be awesome if I can increase the color saturation to make it more saturated, closer to AMOLED.
Hope you understand my question..
so it's not the Prism I'm talking about. I want to increase the saturation entirely. Prism I heard only makes the screen washed out for like 30 seconds while watching movies or something. I don't really have any problem with this btw..
Thanks.
The problem is that it stays on. It helps with color saturation and contrast, it's the only thing I've seen. You can try messing with the colors in CM and such but I doubt you are going to get anywhere.
