considerung the minimum hardware specs they suggest, our ram could get a bit tight ^^ but otherwise .. i'm sure there will be some badass developers who can get it running on our good old transformer
There's already tons of ports for Ubuntu since they have an official arm release. I'm running 12.04 right now (see sig) and the only problem is random freezes, which I'm too lazy to troubleshoot.

So far it seems to only be available for the Nexus tablets.
Given the somewhat weak ROM support for the TF101 I'm not really going to dare hoping for anything.
Right now we barely have a CM10.1 port going, which for most devices is taken for granted.
So yeah.

You gotta have faith! How about team EOS 4's beautiful ROM? seems like it's about as advanced a ROM as there could be... i'm running 4.2.2 VERY smoothly with their help. Thanks to ALL of the developers
They've released a statement that if there's a CM 10 release for your device, you can port Ubuntu Touch to it. As far as I know, there is no stable build of CM 10 for the TF101, but there are some unoffical ports. If we could get the guys working on the unofficial ports to look at porting Ubuntu Touch over, we might get it.

Over on my one v im getting threads like this. That phone has a single core cpu at 1ghz and 512mb ram. I think if we can run regular linux we can run this. We just have to port it
Porting Ubuntu Touch is as Simple as Building CM... Really?
I think that porting CM 10.1 for Rayman and Team EOS it's being a hard work but, as we have a stable (more or less) build of CM 10.1, Do you guys think that porting will be simple? I'm right now trying to make a dual boot of Ubuntu Phone OS and Android OS for GNex but I can help porting it to our old Transformer... Anyone who can help me?
PD: Where are you Raiman? We miss you...

Well Ubuntu Touch is out for tablets too - answer to the first post.
Also, I might try to port it later tonight.
I'm sure it can be done.

If I hosting is a showstopper for anyone, I can help out there. PM me is you want me to hand out a nexfiles FTP account for Ubuntu-purposes.
I've already served 300GB (in 2-3 hours no less!) of Ubuntu-DLs from that host already, so can't hurt to add some Transformer-love as well

I know it's not on Xda but just wanted to thank u guys for mentioning the ICS rom for the a500. It is by far the smoothest/fastest rom I've flashed on my a500. I'm just blown away at how great it runs. I could care less about the few things that need fixed. I'm now loving my Iconia. Thanks again.

No, he's got a ICS rom (Android 4.0). I'm running it right now and it's amazing. The best rom I've ever ran on my Iconia.
Yes he does have it I had 40 running for a bit but SPB shell doesn't run along with a handful of other apps I have bought ill wait till app developers get the kinks out..
He's been working on it since October I think so its pretty good Cam and vpn don't work as of now we need Acer to release alot to get everything the way it should be...

And you owe me personally, about well, a lot of beers. And not just any beer mind you, but I like really expensive beer
In fact, if one would calculate 12 beers per day @.5L per beer since the time he got HW Accel working, No green screens, and 85% of all functions working, you owe me about 457 beers, give or take. But I'm not greedy. I'll settle for an even 400 x.5L.
The Pure ICS rom 4.x, runs damn good. Only 3 or 4 things left. Most people are using it as a daily driver.
But now, "Iced" cube, if you don't come through with your wager, on open terms as you set, Well... that would be considered "welching" on a bet.
Welp, there goes my weekly wage...
I did say "a beer", not "a few beers"

Did you ever see a PC powering up and showing something on the screen without any kind of GPU? And where was the screen connected to at that point?
The same applies for phones. Each SoC has its own GPU, good or bad, and such an item in the table makes it more of a joke.

Ummm seeing as I made that chart....umm yea, that is the wrong conclusion:
Nexus One onboard RAM = 512 mb
Nexus One gpu = Adreno 200
So, you don't come to a solid 'no'; you get to 5-50% depending on if we can get libs for a similar chipset...[/quote]

I love how the chart says 512M or MORE. And yet the article says.
Long story short: if your Android device has 512MB of RAM or less (like the original DROID, Nexus One and pretty much everything from before summer 2010) you won’t be getting CyanogenMod 9 officially.

Blackrose is used right now because /system is too small for ICS and the default apps, but you can minimize the apps in /system and it works, right? Video editor etc.. I assume those can be installed as user apps?
Curious... Why won't people do that vs blackrose? My N1 isn't my primary device now (sadly, still miss its notifications. DON'T miss its touchscreen insanity in the car) but I still haven't tried ICS on it partly because of messing with hboot.

Agreed, your rom is quite good, I am pissed off at XDA nexus management tho, it's the second time they close the thread of the rom I am using in my nexus... they can kiss goodbye any further donation from me! (I mean the board not the developer...) I do think that developer and thread starter and rom poster, deserve a fair analysis prior seeing their thread closed... the nexus had only 2 active ics rom, we lost one and gained one today...
I wonder if camera preview will be fixed eventually, if not it's quite a deal breaker for me since my phone is my most important work tools and camera is a good part of this!

My limited knowledge of Paranoid Android leads me to ask - why do you want it on the Tf?
Isn't it designed to give a tablet like experience on phones?
As well made as it is, I wasn't overly keen on the whole tiny u.i on my sgs2.
Otherwise I'm not sure what we would be missing out on.
Application-specific DPI settings would make me one happy panda.

Yes - dock is supported... Well, at least it was working for me last night... Don't have a large SD card to test on it, but it should work (as i'm using the same device tree as others)...
As stated earlier, this is my first proper build (running a CM10 build on my phone, not released though). Support for x86 and Arm
It doesn't say "x86". Ubuntu Phone and Tablet is *targeted* at ARM devices so any x86 compiling we need to do ourselves from the source code they released. But we also need drivers for that, a dev (or a few devs) that's willing to port it and compile it for our x86 and we need someone to port over all ARM apps that are currently being created by third party developers.
Also, we need to adjust the touchscreen because the launcher is hard to reach with no bezel. I've been running Ubuntu Phone Experience on my Razr i for some weeks now and it's hard to detect because you really need to trigger the bezel so that's gonna need some work too after the port's done.

Hi Y'all.
This will serve as a main thread for discussion over porting Ubuntu.
At wiki.ubuntu.com a guide to port Ubuntu has been released.
Since, Our I9300 has official CM10 support, it can be ported easily.
Here is the site: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
I can have a go at this, If anyone would host me through teamviewer that'd be great.
To see how ubuntu looks, take a look here: http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone/design
Happy Porting!
Reserved.
I will follow this thread, seems pretty easy to port Ubuntu but not sure about it's functionality...

Well, Ubuntu for phones needs a Linux Kernel (stock kernel from Sammy) with a few changes to add extra support for Ubuntu.
I've checked the guide and it's just a few more lines to be added.
If gokhanmoral decides to include this in his Siyah, and a flashable zip is made for the port.
It can easily be set up as dual.
The good thing is that Ubuntu uses Cyanogen Mod, so we can expect a whole load of features.
I hope it will an easy porting How much time do you think it takes untill the porting is done ?
Damn! I might just cancel my plans to sell of my SIII!!

A developer preview is designed for devs to check compatibility of apps and test, it is not designed for everyday use, Canonical don't have to do anything the software is pre-release, that's what a preview is. You can think of a developer preview as alpha, many things will be broken, and a lot will change.
check out this release
seems some fellows at rootzwiki have the preview running on sII. check it out here

Well, there is allways SWAP. But doing write cycles to internal flash, or uSD card is not the best option.
