Support for x86 and Arm
It doesn't say "x86". Ubuntu Phone and Tablet is *targeted* at ARM devices so any x86 compiling we need to do ourselves from the source code they released. But we also need drivers for that, a dev (or a few devs) that's willing to port it and compile it for our x86 and we need someone to port over all ARM apps that are currently being created by third party developers.
Also, we need to adjust the touchscreen because the launcher is hard to reach with no bezel. I've been running Ubuntu Phone Experience on my Razr i for some weeks now and it's hard to detect because you really need to trigger the bezel so that's gonna need some work too after the port's done.

Yeah this would be really great. I do know an iPhone version is being worked on.
I hope someone manages to do it, the phones should be more than capable of running it aslong as the software has control over the USB port. Although I think it should be possible since I've seen software to make your phone a USB host for nexus and desire.

wait for the video he is promising, also wait for others to confirm. Making an app is simple, making one that actually does what it claims is completely different.
I find it strange that he is asking for donations for an ipod/iphone when he hasnt finished the android port first, seems fishy but i am hoping for the best and waiting.

that mostly is a fake always he talk's about is an app that does everything but you have to patch the android kernel so as to make it access the low-level functions that we need.the android system is like a sandbox which wont allow an user to access the low-level stuff. But hey it's been promising KaKaRoTo came up with a n900 version of it.Hope some1 can p0rt it over to an android device
After extensive google search I have came my personal opinion (everyone has one) that this will happen in the future. The software used to make this is open source. Since android is based off of open source somebody will be able to make this happen. I personaly am not smart enough to do this. I see a lot of sites promoting this to happen with jailbroken iphones in the "near future" more but for it to happen with android phones is very proberble as well

Guys, I seriously think this netzke guy is deceiving everyone. Normally I don't like to be in this position calling someone a liar, but his blog posts are very awkward.
http://netzke.blogspot.com/
He just posted this:
I've been working pretty hard through this. I will be taking a few hours to sleep now. Your comments may not appear for several hours because of this. I'm not sure what the rest of the team is planning to do. Chances are they will also be taking a break for a few hours.
Beta for Iphone is open now. Beta release in the next week +- 3 days.
Beta for android is still open but we will be closing it soon
$15 will get you into the beta for sure. Others may or may not be selected given the large amount of applications. So your best way in is to donate.
A video will be released within the next few days. of both the iOS port and the Android port.
Those who do donate may not receive confirmation for a while. But we will try our best.
Donate button is on the top right for those who have been asking.
Thanks for understanding that people have to sleep

I made this comment on his previous post, but he did not approve it:
Ok, I'm starting to loose my faith that you are actually doing something. Time to show some proof. In all of your posts you didn't say anything technical about your progress. What did you accomplish so far? What are your main issues right now? You've been wasting more time asking for donation than in actual development. As for your screenshots, anyone with basic Android coding skills could make an Activity with buttons triggering Toasts in less than 10 min. Where is the video you promised?
AND FOR THE REST OF YOU FOLKS:
I can't believe there so many people dumb enough to give this guy money without him actually delivering anything useful.

so you could just edit for the usb controller on HTC phones, compile to the linux app, then run it through a terminal.

hi guys,
I don't know if you're familiar but for some time there are some options available to jailbreak your PS3.
The smart guys of the world managed to do so via an USB Dongle and as well via N900 and it seems PalmPre.
Would this be possible via Android/HD2? I suppose it should..

So I installed the full SDK of Honeycomb and created the first AVD with it. I noticed something nice and promising for all us Archos IT holders. The hardware RAM by default is set to 256mb. Now, I'm no expert, but that tells me that it CAN run with our 256mb devices.

Or less broken USB ports so devs don't have to RMA their devices
When the source for HC comes out there will be one dev more.
Before that we have no chance.
So next week the xoom will be there and then google normaly releases the code right after that.
So lets hope.
Honeycomb SDK is out!!! go go go!!!
The Beta sdk was there already.
But that is not enough, we need the Sourcecode, not the Binaries that are working in Emulator.
playing around with it a little on the emulator...at the 101's resolution full tablet HC that we're used to seeing...
at 800x480 (for the 70) it seems to revert to "phone mode"

No, that's the SDK (hence the SDK in the URL for the OS.
I made the same mistake though. I thought the SDK was needed for making ROMs...I had no idea the source is used...but hey...I learned something new here!
Yes, the SDK is used by developers to build software for the specific Version.
The Sourcecode is needed to port it to a Device.
The source is normally released a couple of weeks after the first device with the OS is launched. Since the XOOM (first device to be launched with 3.0) was released today, the source should be here in a couple of weeks... what this space.

Do you not think that the warranty would be in question, I mean I take it you have installed SDE on your device? I know the warranty states that it would void the warranty if the issue is as a result of installing the SDE. Do you think they would claim that this could have caused the failure? If they did then that would be almost an admission that updating the firmware could also cause this issue. If you do RMA your device and they don't question this then let me know so then I might bother sending mine back!

Do you go by a different nickname?
Anyway, SDK or not, the main thing started this thread about what that the emulator default is 256mb RAM. Since the "rumor" that concerned most of us was that Honeycomb would require 512mb of RAM to work, thus eliminating the Archos Gen8 devices from running it, is less of an issue.
It stands to reason that if the emulator default is 256, then a device only needs 256 to run it...so...we can get us some honeycomb sans the weird little ADHD furry creature running around.

SDE shouldn't be related to the issue because I never used a different kernel, only some additional modules.

So far it seems to only be available for the Nexus tablets.
Given the somewhat weak ROM support for the TF101 I'm not really going to dare hoping for anything.
Right now we barely have a CM10.1 port going, which for most devices is taken for granted.
So yeah.

They've released a statement that if there's a CM 10 release for your device, you can port Ubuntu Touch to it. As far as I know, there is no stable build of CM 10 for the TF101, but there are some unoffical ports. If we could get the guys working on the unofficial ports to look at porting Ubuntu Touch over, we might get it.

I am a developer myself, I am writing this now as I build a shield tablet kernel....will be releasing that too, but I was just asking how you did it, what the process was, so I could try myself (as a developer) -- it's not that I want an unfinished product and really want you to port&release gmod, I am interested in how you programmed it.
Either way, cheers. Look forward to seeing your thread once development kicks off....it feels super lonely being a shield tab developer because there's like 3 others who all maintain stuff for other devices

Awesome. Looks like you've streamlined the port and installation, what kind of bugs are you tackling?
Come to think of it, us who are actually building stuff and getting the latest nvidia source and seeing what we can do with it....we should really have a chat or something. Do you have a skype or something maybe we can make a group for the 5 of us?
Wow this is awesome!!! Does this work with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse? Also, I know these ports run on different architectures, but do you think the Shield port could play online against PC users?

Maybe with the unofficial hacked versions of the game on PC. To play with the mainstream game, you need Steam integration
(SteamID, Steamworks, etc....), which is impossible since there is 0 Steam support for Android (Steam app doesn't include support for games).
But LAN should be possible in the long run.
