Hi all, i have a nook simple touch rooted via nookmanager. It great I love it however one of my mail reasons for root was email access. This worked perfectly at first but has in time become very unstable. It doesn't seem to automatically sync then when I manually sync it the app closes and it retuns to the home screen without having run the refresh.
Anyone experienced the same as this or have any suggestions for fixing?
I've already tried uninstalling and re installing as well as clearing data to start again.
I'd say, instead of looking for problem, just make factory reset, and roote again.
Once it helped me.
I've actually managed to fix it. I installed k9 intending to use it instead however it seems to have corrected the issue with the normal gmail app as that now functions fine!

Hello. First off let me say I have searched this forum for a thread relating to this issue and was unsuccessful so if by some means I overlooked it, I apologize for a replicate.
Anyway, I just purchased my KF yesterday and love it. However, I noticed today after turning it back on that my previous settings for email were no longer sticking. For example, I had set my email to fetch PUSH but it went back to manual. I don't know if this has something to do with the wifi or what but I'm curious so I can keep it from resetting.
*EDIT* For clarification the email account I am speaking of is my Gmail which is an IMAP server type.
Thanks for any help on this issue.
-- I plan on rooting the KF if it means I can keep my wifi from shutting down once the Fire goes into sleep.
** It seems to of been the already installed email app that was the issue. **

Nice. Well, I have no idea what is going on. I have set my email setting to PUSH and each and every time I turn off the device and then restart it, the settings go back to manual
And I even performed a factory reset. Thanks though for your reply. I hope I can get it taken care of soon. I hate nothing more than exchanges, esp. when the device itself now is top-notch...other than this email setting debacle.

Misread your post.
I have not set mine to "push."
I have 7 pop email accounts, so probably doesn't apply to your problem.
Yeah, I'm referring to my gmail (IMAP) account.
-- On a side note, however completely related to the subject, I notice my browser bookmarks don't stick either. I will delete many of the pre-loaded ones, put a few of my own, and after reboot, notice they are no longer there as well. Reverted back to all the old bookmarks (that I deleted) and none of mine.

No help here, either.
I am using Opera.
^^ no worries. Thanks for your replies anyway
Anyone else having this 'issue'?
I'm guessing you're talking about using the stock Kindle Fire email app connecting to your Gmail account?
My advice initially would be to sideload Google's apps on there and see if you have the same issues.
Failing that, I would probably do a factory reset, and start again. It shouldn't take you very long to set everything up again.
It's a weird one for sure, but then I never used the built in apps!
If you're only using gmail, I'd recommend just installing the gmail app, then using quick sync settings from the market to make it sync automatically, if that's what you want it to do.

Thanks to you both. You were both correct. It was something to do with the email client.already on this device. After using gmail app the settings stay in place perfectly after reboots. Thanks again I apprecaite your help.
Anyone else besides me getting this? I had no idea what was causing it at first, but it seems that within 5-10 minutes of using the Tab regularly, the force close prompt would come up. I'd hit close, however, none of the apps I was currently in at the time would close. Every 2-3 minutes, like clockwork, the prompt would show up again. Got very annoying.
From the suggestion of another member, I took down my G-Mail widget and rebooted. Used the Tab like normal, still force closing. I then realized it COULD be the stock browser. I downloaded Dolphin for Tab Beta and used that...no force closes (yet). I have a suspicion that it could be the browser.
Is this happening with anyone else? I'm on stock KMM with the KMN CSC, odexed, with root and CWM. No other OS changes/alterations have been made. I even wiped the device completely, including my storage partition, re-downloaded and re-flashed, and it was still occurring with stock browser use.
Uncheck sync bookmarks with Chrome. Used to have the same issue and it drove me nuts.
I had this issue with syncing bookmarks. Fixed it by going to the Google Dashboard (sorry don't have the URL) and clearing the data section under Chrome. No issues since then.

Well this is getting out of hand for me. I started noticing this after the 3.2 update, but now it's getting crazy. I wasn't able to uncheck the sync in the Android browser options, I had to clear the data and then simply not sync it, but I think its still trying to sync. I did go to the dashboard and clear the data there as well per the suggestion in this thread. I am un-rooted running stock 3.2 update. I can see in the error report that it crashing on trying to sync bookmarks. What a pain!

Try creating a new gmail account (you don't actually have to use it for anything) and sync the bookmarks to that instead.
Sounds like a good idea to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks!

You have to go to accounts and sync, your Google account, and uncheck bookmarks from there. That's what stops the bookmark sync. You can't uncheck in browser and clearing data from the browser is unrelated.
Well, I've rooted my NSTGL somewhere a month ago, installed all the apps I need and since then I rarely used wifi, turning it on for a shop sinchronisation only. But today I discovered that my youtube, market and gmail apps don't work, but browser does. Last messages in gmail is from 2nd october. In other device's threads there are suggestions to re-login in google account, but I don't see any way to do it. So, do I need to re-root my nook or there are some other solutions?
Have you tried Synker to get the googls apps syncing again?

It seems pretty hard to install this app without an .apk which I was unsuccessfully googling for the last half an hour.
Here is the synker widget - the developer is afterhoursdevelopers
you should be able to save this to your nook sdcard and then click on it from your nook to install.
Hi. I’m having a problem with my Nexus 7 fetching notifications, and I’m hoping someone might be able to solve the issue... without having to do a reinstall. I may have inadvertently caused the issue myself, but have no idea how and don’t know how to fix it.
To give you some background, I was using my N7 rooted with stock ROM all through 4.2.1, and life was fine. My problems arose when 4.2.2 was released OTA. For some odd reason, the update would download, the tablet would tell me so, but when I would try to install it, the bootloader would lock up in an error. Rebooting and going into settings to force a search for the update would return an “up to date” message even though I was still on 4.2.1. 2-3 days later, the icon would return to tell me that the update was downloaded, but attempting to install would only result in an error.
I finally decided to unroot and relock the device to install the update. Directly after, I rerooted it. Of course, one of the main reasons I keep root is to use a backup service, and I ran Titanium to reload my apps and settings. A while after, I noticed that my phone would ring to notify me of incoming texts, Facebook updates, emails and such, but my tab, which I often looked forward to mildly annoying me with an echoing chime, would not. Once I log in to an app, it will then suddenly deliver me whatever notifications have been awaiting, but that kind of defeats the purpose. I’ve also noticed that the WiFi icon, which was normally blue 95% of the time is not consistently gray. It NEVER turns blue any more. I’m not quite sure what that means, but I’m almost certain it is somehow related.
In doing some research to fix the problem, I discovered an app that adjusts how often it pings for notifications. I was hoping that, somewhere in the midst of the update and my reinstalling old data, I’d deleted or overwritten this “Heartbeat”, and that the app would fix it, but it sadly has not.
Anyone have any idea what I’ve done and how to solve this problem?

Might be a problem with your account configured on the Nexus. I had a similar problem when I was playing around with framework-res.apk One time I didn't put the right signature and so my account was only 'half' stable, I.e. the account was there, but no syncing. I found out when starting the play store, there I was asked for my account ...
After inserting and reconfiguring mail / calendar / ... everything works fine now.

I tried deleting the data from the Google Play Store and Google Play Services apps. Had done the same with Google Voice earlier. Nothing changed. What do I need to do to "put the right signature"?
Sometime within the last week, I noticed that I stopped receiving email notifications on my phone. I can still retrieve email manually (both through Inbox and the Gmail app), but unless I open the app it won't refresh. I've tried messing with the notification settings - none of which were turned off or disabled - and I've even removed and re-added my Google accounts. No effect!
I'm not sure what else I should be trying, or why this would even be occurring. I haven't noticed any other apps giving me the same issues; for instance, Facebook and my Twitter client (Fenix) both continue to push notifications just fine. Any advice on what I could try next? Thanks in advance!
Have you wiped data of Google play services by any chance? That will cause this every time without fail.
It should sort itself out eventually, I found a good article describing what happens when Google play services data is wiped and it causes mayhem with syncing your Google account.

I know I have before, but I don't think it was recently. That's really good to know now! I'm contemplating just doing a full wipe because all these tiny problems are starting to get at me. Removing your Google account plays havoc with apps now.
I used to have this same issue when I used Inbox on my last device and never really came across any fix while searching for answers. Never had it happen with Gmail, so that's odd you're having that same issue. Only thing I can recommend is trying another email app. I use BlueMail now and have no issues with not getting notifications.
With app issues, specially with Google Apps, I recommend rebooting to Safe Mode and testing the app.
1. Hold Power Button until Power Off shows.
2. Hold Power Off until "Reboot to Safe Mode" appears.
3. Click "Reboot to Safe Mode".
4. See if the issue persists.
Check the sync
Also, check if you jave restricted the background data at the data usage
I checked everything you guys recommended, nothing seemed to help. In a rage I factory reset the phone, and everything is peachy now. Instant emails galore. No idea what that implicates as the cause.

I think that the April factory image definitely has issues. Mine was battery problems, but all is fine after flashing Mays image. There was a sync issue with all Gmail users for a while but that seems to be fixed now as well.
