how do people deal with i/o issues - Transformer TF300T General

ok, so everything about this tablet is good or at least ok, not bad, EXCEPT for i/o issues which has been driving me crazy, lags when downloading, updating apps, browsing the web, downloading game files,.... anything that needs to write/read on the flash storage.
but i feel like everyone is happy with this tablet and have no complaints, don't you also have i/o issues? i'm sure you do, so is there something that i don't know that can solve this problem?

Some things you learn to live with. For example, I know not to update apps while I'm trying to do anything else. This might require that you set all of your apps not to update automatically.
Installing a custom ROM is a good start. Browser2Ram is almost a must-have. Some people have had luck with DirectoryBind to re-map Chrome's cache folder. I tried the same with Flipboard but it didn't help. So I've learned not to use Flipboard.
In the end, it's a matter of pros and cons. If you find it unbearable even with a custom ROM, a good kernel, and some tweaks, then maybe the TF300 won't satisfy your usage pattern.

Just about any of them. The first thing the Devs do when making a ROM for the TF's is likely address the I/O, as that's the biggest issue with this device.

I've tried just about every rom for the TF300 and Cleanrom is without a doubt the fastest. And while devs do find some ways to address the I/O problem it's never gonna go away completely.

I haven't unlocked or rooted yet so I don't have anything to compare it against, but the only bit of lag I have experienced is with the stock browser or chrome, but with either Dolphin or Boat Browser, surfing the web is really quick. With everything else that you have mentioned it has been really fast.

What can you say about hydro? I'm currently using it and haven't had any problem except stock browser is really slow and I always got the message that it's not responding? do you experience this in cleanrom or default browser is just crappy?

The stock browser is pretty crappy. Go with dolphin or boat browser as they are way smoother and load sites much faster.

One thing that might help you make a decision on Rom is whether or not you have a keyboard. I believe they only Roms that support keyboard is "stock" based. So Cyanogenmod or any AOSP Roms do not support keyboard.

Browser on 3.1

Am I the only one who thinks it kinda sucks? Sometimes it's really snappy and fast, and once the page has loaded scrolling is really quick. However a lot of the time it seems worse to me, especially the xda site. Text input is abysmal now (not just xda) so slow, and much worse than 3.0.1. Other bugs include no backspace in text boxes, not being able to click on links, font rendering a bit blurry when not zoomed in, and keyboard randomly getting stuck on caps.
Is it just me?
Not just u...it sucks. Such a shame as everything else is great. Text randomly not appearing in text boxes....pages not loading entirely...slow text input from dock...most annoying may be links not highlighting which leaves u guessing where u tapped. Hope a fix comes soon.

I was hoping that they improve the speed on the browser in 3.1 but look feels the same like in 3.0. Pages takes a long time to load. Typing is a pain in the ass even with the android keyboard. Surfing and running playerpro is very slow. Opera mobile seems to be the fastest browser ive tested so far, but the font is way tooo small and theres no way to increase it.

I was using the ASUS keyboard. And I had some lag with it before, but it was never anything as bad as this.
I just switched to the Android keyboard. It's just as bad with that keyboard too.
I tried on another forum and it seemed normal. So it might just be this forum. The browser has never liked it anyway.
i posted this in the other thread. there are lots of browser issues with this. ill stick with it because there are lots of other improvements, but i doubt this update as is will be released to the public this week.
i didnt find that many speed issues. i was using flex T9 keyboard though. I will test tomorrow some more but i was thinking the browser had some nice improvements especially with the "quick controls"

I agree that Thumb keyboard is blazing fast now. There was an update to version 4 a couple of days ago so I'm not sure if that was the reason for the speed increase or Honeycomb 3.1, but it is very responsive now.
I normally use Tapatalk to access XDA, But I'm using thumb keyboard to post this reply on the XDA website directly - there is a little lag, but not too much.

I wish you folks wouldn't call it 3.1, because the official 'propper' 3.1 isn't released yet.
Whaat you've got is 3.02 or something found by a cleaner at asustech in the garbarge bins on a CD, they then uploaded it to the web and called it '3.1 leak' and you've all fallen for it! you then all come on here and start winging about, your gullibility is laughable

Is that supposed to be a joke? It is most certainly 3.1.
In response to other posts, I'm also using thumb keyboard but still get a lot of lag, only in browser though so it's not a keyboard issue. Engadget said the browser took a massive hit in JavaScript performance with this update so maybe that's why. I'm thinking this isn't the final build so I'm looking forward to the official ota.
Like others have said though, even though the browser is worse in some regards the improvements in other areas of the rom make it worth sticking with

Really? I use SKANG and have had no issue with camera. Don't know about GPS.
I use the CM10 as my daily driver and rarely have any issues. Granted with that being said I primarily use it for minor productivity things like browsing the web with chrome, screwing around on reddit, watching HD youtube videos, editing word documents with Polaris, and writing emails. A fully functional Bluetooth would be nice, however that may have just been updated in round 8.3. No personal need for the GPS at the moment.

Help needed: Looking for a rom

Hey All,
I'm looking for a rom and having trouble figuring out which one will best suit my needs. Typically, I would just download a bunch of roms and try them out, but I'm stuck in China with a low data ceiling on a very slow connection for the foreseeable future. I really need to be like 80% sure before I download.
I've been running CleanRom since the summer, and that has been a great experience, but CleanRom is no longer being developed, so I'm no longer up to date.
I want something with integrated tablet mode, and I would like something with a volume slider in the notification tray. Wifi toggle switch would also be ideal (I prefer not to use apps for these features). Aside from those features, I just need the most stable rom possible. Additional customization isn't necessary. In fact, pure stock outside of the features I listed would be great. And I'm obviously not looking for nightly builds. I want something to throw on here and leave on until the next Android update.
Does anyone know a rom that meets this criteria? If you have suggestions, I would love to hear them, and then I'll go read some threads.
I really appreciate the help.

I've been running this rom since 1.1.2 and have been very pleased with it. My current setup is Glazed JB 2.0 with the included Franco kernel, and Nova Launcher Prime for a launcher. I'm also using Pimp My Rom 2.0 for additional tweaks, but from the sounds of it you may not even want that.

You want a solid rom? Team EOS is going to be your best bet. Very minimal isnt loaded with a bunch of crap you wont use. Has its own toggles however are kind of an eyesore IMO. You could just use an app to do the same thing i recommend "Extended Controls" Its a dollar.. but well worth it. LOL reread your OP oops.. :S
Also if you have the pull down.. and swipe in the middle to either the right or the left.. it will swap the Date and clock to a volume slider on the left and a brightness slider on the right .
The only problem I've had with this rom is the oft mentioned error about invalid glazed 2.0 init.. and it's more of a minor nuisance than anything. Functionality does not seem to have a problem, and I'm sure the message has something to do with Glazed being based on a CM nightly.. a bad integer table entry perhaps. Either way, my overall experience has been great with this setup.. buttery fast, and buttery smooth.

TF300T will receive Android 4.3 along with several other tablets

I was just now searching for information about the new version of Android and I come up with this list: http://technosamigos.com/asus-android-4-3-jelly-bean-update-schedule/
I don't know if this is legit, but it can actually be true. Our tablet was the very first tablet to receive Android 4.1 and 4.2 after the nexus devices, and has been receiving updates quite regularly, so it wouldn't be a surprise if we got Android 4.3 this year.
