Hi there,
So I just received my Nexus 4 today, the first thing I did was cut my normal sim --> micro sim so I can use it on the nexus 4. I was successful in doing so and my phone is working perfectly. However, the problem i'm having is I didn't trim down the thickness of the sim card, and now my sim tray is stuck (unable to eject with the ejector tool). It does "try" to eject cause I see the edges pop out a bit, but not enough for me to get a good grip to fully pull it out.
Since the phone is working perfectly, I'm not really in a rush, but it's just annoying and for the future of getting new plans.
What should I do? Call Google for a new phone for my fail or will mobile store be able to help me?
Thank you.

ohh wow. I suggest using a tweezer or a needle to pull the tray out. Once out, GET A new micro sim and put it in.

Took a break last night from trying so hard to get it to eject. So this morning I tried again, the 2nd time it managed to eject just SLIGHTLY more that gave me enough grip to pull it out. Afterward, I sanded down the back of the sim card to make it thinner, then insert it in again, test multiple time carefully to see if it'll freely eject. Works perfectly now.

Just walk into a T-Mobile store to change your sim card. It's free and in some cases, older sim cards will have problems with newer phone.

I had recently bought a cingular 8525..... and i bought a scandisk 2gb micro SD card..... but when i try to push the card in it gets stuck and the card doesnt comes out..... i have to remove the battery and pull the card with the clipper...... but the dummy card goes in and comes out perfectly..... wht shall i do.... i have tried this with 2-3 brands micro SD cards
Same here. Althugh with a little fiddeling my Hermes recognised the Card. And as I haven't planned to remove it again any time soon I can live with that.
You have to be carefull when putting the card in. I had the same problem at the start, you have to put it in really straight and make sure you here a click. If you here a scrape, then it get corrupt.
Didn't want to make new thread, so I bumped...
I am having same problem. I tried to put the card in (2 gb sandisk micro SD) and now its stuck and not seen by the Phone. How did the first poster get his out? I looked under the battery, but I don't see an easy way to get to the card. Any help is much appreciated, since I cannot use my card yet...TIA!
ive experienced the same problem. seems like its a "breaking in" issue.
as you get used to putting it in and pulling it out it will ultimately just sink in. meaning, youd be able to click it in and click it out..
never had one problem with the 3 sandisk cards i use..
I did struggle the first time after taking the new Hermes out of the box but no problems since - since the first go I just do it really carefully, making sure it's absolutely straight.
SD cards are a nice, even shape but MicroSD have a funny shape to them - a degree out in insertion angle (oo-er, missus) and it seems you're stumped. Took me ages to get the thing out first time.
Thanks for the help, I was able to get it out with a very small flat screwdriver. It is very sensitive, and I make sure that I get the "click" before I push it all the way in. Thx.
tried taking out my sdhc earlier and seems like i have no problems anymore..
Guys,
Try using forum search. I posted a working solution to this issue here.

Micro SD card issues
I too had the same problem for 2 or 3 times, getting it in is the trick, very delicate.
The first time I inserted it, it didn't register and it wouldn't come out with a click, sort of had to pry it out delicately out of there, the second time, the device recognized it, taking it out it clicked but hesitated a bit, by the third time, no problem. Now it works exactly like it should.
The question is, is it the slot that gets broken-in or the card itself? I have another card on order, I'll know the answer to that soon, allthough I think it's the actual slot inside that assumes the shape it should or something, probably the pins-connectors inside that have to flex a couple of times.
Scary at first but it seems to fix itself.
God I love my phone, is it wrong to be so obsessed with it?
Hi There,
I'm new so apologies if this has been asked before, I did try a search but to no avail.
I received my HD2 yesterday and when trying to put a Sim Card in it is really really stiff, I managed to snap one in the process (thankfully Virgin are sending a new one out). I then tried with an old Vodafone one which I got in but it took a bit of force and even then the phone didn't recognise it, upon removal it seems to have scratched the simcard contacts fairly badly.
Am I being a complete idiot or do you think I have a problem with my HD2?
Many Thanks
Ben
possible problems could be
inserted the wrong orientation!
trying to insert into the SDcard slot!!!!
SIM card usually comes in a bigger card, maybe there is still some excess plastic on the edge of the sim when you removed it!
Possible that there is something jammed in the SIM slot!
Or maybe there is something wrong with your phone.
only thing id say is the cut off corner goes in last.every phone i've seen beforethe cut corner goes first, but im sure it won't be that cos of course we all read the manual cover to cover before putting the sim in....didn't we? hehe
Thanks for the replys. I am fairly renowned for not reading instruction manuals (like all men i guess!!) but for once I actually did.
Defo tried to put it in the right way but it just wouldn't go in, i've tried this morning again with an old disconnected sim card and it seems to have free'd up quite a bit, it still feels kind of grindy (apologies for the made up word) and nothing like inserting a sim card into any phone i've had in the past but i'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be fine.
Just got to wait for the replacement virgin sim now which is annoying because i'm itching to get using it, it's a beautiful bit of kit.
If you are in any doubt, get the phone switched out for a replacement. If there is a fault with the SIM socket, then it may well reappear when you least want it in the future!
You are trying this with the battery removed aren't you? It can be done with battery in but it is a lot more difficult to get the SIM card properly under the locating lugs.
I've switched SIM cards a lot, and there is absolutely no problem- it is as smooth as you'd expect from a snug-fitting slot!
Hi Neil, thanks for the reply, yes i'm trying it with the battery out and it definately couldn't be described as smooth so I suspect there may well be a problem with it.
I shall give virgin a call and arrange for a replacement.
Thanks again for your help.
p.s This is an awesome forum, i've been studying it all week in anticipation of receiving my HD2 (first winmo phone), looks like i'll have to wait a little longer before I get to properly use it though
I would get it replaced!
would be epic, is he tries to put it in the sd card place
I do have my moments but not even I could do that!!
Picked mine up Contract Free from PCWorld. On Wifi it works great. But, I have a really stupid problem with inserting a SIM in the device and getting it to stay in.
I have tried inserting both a giffgaff PAYG and a Three PayMonthly SIM (full size)following the directions in the booklet and watching a couple of YouTube videos.
With screen facing me, insert SIM with gold contacts facing down and cut out notch on lower left. If I hold the SIM card, the phone will reboot and I have network connectivity. However the SIM will not stay in place even with the slot cover in place it comes free. There is no reassuring click when I insert the SIM card, I have tried other ways of inserting the card, there is a click, the card is held in place but the phone does nort recognise a SIM has been inserted. So I'm pretty sure my method is correct.
Help, Im at the pointy of taking this one back. A quick search on XDA and google does not reveal any meaningful results.
Regards,
Mike
Cut out notch is on the top left...look at the picture on the SIM card slot...
I keep my finger nails short, and I found that I could not insert either the SIM card, or a micro-SD with my fingers. I needed to push down on both with a pen.
Hope this helps.
Dave
I did have this problem of the tab not recognising my simcard when I first inserted it. I was sure it was done correctly.
Try taking out the sim card and rubbing the chip with an eraser. Clean off the residue before inserting it back. You may still see no service after the phone has rebooted. Be patient n wait for a while more. The signal will come. This solved my problem. I hope it helped you too.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
pushing the SIM in with the tip of a pen has done the trick. I guess my fingers were just to fat!
Thanks
Mike
Nah, I had the same problem too and I have thin fingers, solved it by using a business card that was next to me
You just need to use your nails for these damn cards / slots, and mine are always too short to do the job.
Hmm
As I figured out today, it's obvious when the sim is in correctly, because it goes in much deeper and doesn't look anything like it might obstruct the closing of the "flap".
I had to use a long nail to get it in the correct way round (did it while the tab was on) and as soon as it was in the tab detected it and rebooted itself.
Hi dear,
I just bought my Omnia 7 last Wed(actually, made a payment 2 weeks ago but just arrived) and I'm so pleased to use it as I used to use Samsung Focus(but it has problem on a sim slot).
However, there was one problem in my device since the first day. It's actually my fault and the device is working really well, but my sim(I used to use iPhone so my sim is micro size) is stuck in the sim slot.
I thought the sim slot was same as the one in Focus but it wasn't. Thus, I even can't see where it is in the Sim slot but fortunately, it's working well.
Anyone has the same problem as me??
Or anyone can help me out?
i think it is easily sorted but you have to open up the device.
follow the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820799
you dont have to worry about anything..very straightforward.
Thank you so much!
I will follow the instruction then!
Same thing happened to me!! I had a micro sim bought an adapter off ebay when fitted it in it said Invalid sim or no sim! well to cut a long story short I opened up phone and it had bent all the contacts some off the ends had even broke off!!! I had to break off metal housing! to get to the contacts to try bend them back up, I managed to get it working again but I was shi....g myself got a new standard size sim and it's ok.
Really guys don't go for the adapter you will be sorry!

Facing the problem of no service and no sim card detected on my v20 after a reboot or randomly ,i ve tried every thing and found out that the problem is coming from the sim card reader ,there is a space left between the sim card and the reader causing the problem ,the fix is to full the space with a small paper or something to force the sim card into the reader
I know this is a necro post, but I wanted to confirm that this DOES indeed work. I got a second hand V20 from eBay today and couldn't get the thing to recognize the SIM Verizon was giving me at all. Gotta go back tomorrow to have them activate it now that I know this trick works on this phone!!

I ended up sending the phone back for exchange, after a small 1" drop the SIM was dislodged and the adapter broke and got a new one which didn't have the issue, so I unfortunately don't have any pictures. The best way however to place it is to ensure that it is directly over the SIM card and goes into the slot with your SIM, it should be providing some pressure on the back of the SIM to push it into the slot firmly, but not bulge the MicroSD adapter's metal too much, if you've done that, a fall may just break your SIM reader.
