[Q] Oh god, my sim card is stuck on sim slot. - Omnia 7 General

Hi dear,
I just bought my Omnia 7 last Wed(actually, made a payment 2 weeks ago but just arrived) and I'm so pleased to use it as I used to use Samsung Focus(but it has problem on a sim slot).
However, there was one problem in my device since the first day. It's actually my fault and the device is working really well, but my sim(I used to use iPhone so my sim is micro size) is stuck in the sim slot.
I thought the sim slot was same as the one in Focus but it wasn't. Thus, I even can't see where it is in the Sim slot but fortunately, it's working well.
Anyone has the same problem as me??
Or anyone can help me out?

i think it is easily sorted but you have to open up the device.
follow the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820799
you dont have to worry about anything..very straightforward.

Thank you so much!
I will follow the instruction then!

Same thing happened to me!! I had a micro sim bought an adapter off ebay when fitted it in it said Invalid sim or no sim! well to cut a long story short I opened up phone and it had bent all the contacts some off the ends had even broke off!!! I had to break off metal housing! to get to the contacts to try bend them back up, I managed to get it working again but I was shi....g myself got a new standard size sim and it's ok.
Really guys don't go for the adapter you will be sorry!

Inserting Sim Card

Hi There,
I'm new so apologies if this has been asked before, I did try a search but to no avail.
I received my HD2 yesterday and when trying to put a Sim Card in it is really really stiff, I managed to snap one in the process (thankfully Virgin are sending a new one out). I then tried with an old Vodafone one which I got in but it took a bit of force and even then the phone didn't recognise it, upon removal it seems to have scratched the simcard contacts fairly badly.
Am I being a complete idiot or do you think I have a problem with my HD2?
Many Thanks
Ben
possible problems could be
inserted the wrong orientation!
trying to insert into the SDcard slot!!!!
SIM card usually comes in a bigger card, maybe there is still some excess plastic on the edge of the sim when you removed it!
Possible that there is something jammed in the SIM slot!
Or maybe there is something wrong with your phone.
only thing id say is the cut off corner goes in last.every phone i've seen beforethe cut corner goes first, but im sure it won't be that cos of course we all read the manual cover to cover before putting the sim in....didn't we? hehe
Thanks for the replys. I am fairly renowned for not reading instruction manuals (like all men i guess!!) but for once I actually did.
Defo tried to put it in the right way but it just wouldn't go in, i've tried this morning again with an old disconnected sim card and it seems to have free'd up quite a bit, it still feels kind of grindy (apologies for the made up word) and nothing like inserting a sim card into any phone i've had in the past but i'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be fine.
Just got to wait for the replacement virgin sim now which is annoying because i'm itching to get using it, it's a beautiful bit of kit.
If you are in any doubt, get the phone switched out for a replacement. If there is a fault with the SIM socket, then it may well reappear when you least want it in the future!
You are trying this with the battery removed aren't you? It can be done with battery in but it is a lot more difficult to get the SIM card properly under the locating lugs.
I've switched SIM cards a lot, and there is absolutely no problem- it is as smooth as you'd expect from a snug-fitting slot!
Hi Neil, thanks for the reply, yes i'm trying it with the battery out and it definately couldn't be described as smooth so I suspect there may well be a problem with it.
I shall give virgin a call and arrange for a replacement.
Thanks again for your help.
p.s This is an awesome forum, i've been studying it all week in anticipation of receiving my HD2 (first winmo phone), looks like i'll have to wait a little longer before I get to properly use it though
I would get it replaced!
would be epic, is he tries to put it in the sd card place
I do have my moments but not even I could do that!!

Nexus 4 - SIM problem

Hello,
I just got a Nexus 4 16GB (had a 8GB before) and I've to reenter my PIN code almost every time I'm unlocking the phone when it has been in deep sleep. (the card is locked and the phone is disconnected from the network)
I first thought it's caused by custom ROMs, but it's even happening on stock ROM/kernel...
Am I the only one with that kind of problem ?
If you get the sim pin wrong a couple of times, the card is locked and you need to call your provider for a personal unlock code.
If you keep trying to unlock it eventually the sim will simply become inoperable and you'll need a new one.
I can unlock it without a problem after entering my correct pin.
So it is not a problem with the SIM or my provider.
Go into Settings > security and then there should be an option along the lines of Sim card lock. Try checking in there.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Disabled the pin lock for now.. But the signal still drops when the phone is longer in deep sleep.
I had the same problem!
I don't know if this is rom or kernel related, but since I switched to ParanoidAndroid it's gone....
Ah finally someone with the same problem.
I've already been running PA, but the problem did still exist.
Did you change anything else beside that?
i removed my SIM again and cleaned it.
i've also had that issue the second day after receiving the phone. I removed the sim, put it back in but that didn't help - i looked at my sim card tray and i realized that a one side of the sim card chip was close to one metal side of the tray and i figured that could be the issue - so what i did is i took a stripe of adhesive tape and made sure they wouldn't touch - I haven't had the issue again and it's been more than 2 weeks.
Uh...I remember a kernel arg from my old HTC Topaz WiMo-Device, which was able to run XDAndroid.
The argument was pm.sleep_mode, and it is still available on the Nexus 4 and set in the system/build.prop
It controls, how the device handles locking, usually it is set to 1, but, i think, it goes from 5 to 0, where 5 is "stay on all the time" and 0 is "shut down everything when locked".
You could try to swich it to 2 or 3, maybe it helps.
I got a replacement phone which is working fine now.
Thanks for the tips anyway
hmm got a 16gb one and the Sim keeps disconnecting even without deep sleep.
might need to send it back too. poop
Hi,
I got the same problem too.
Sometime, it's getting worse and worse so I have no other choice but to reboot the phone --> When I put my PIN code and press the validation button, the screen doesn't go to the main menu but asks me again about my PIN code. Infinite loop...
I cleaned the SIM card 15min ago and no problem since (fingers crossed). I read an alternative version of android solved the issue in one case but not always. I won't take that risk if I have to send it back to the manufacturer. Before I do that, could you suggest me something else to try ?
Many thanks for your help.
Best,
Valentin
I had the Nexus 4 since December and yesterday for the first time the phone asked for the PIN code and lost the connection to the network. And like posytryon I had to enter the PIN more than once (in my case it was "only" twice). This morning it already happened twice again. Never rooted the phone, stock Android on it. What is going on?
Why are you people so paranoid? I've never used a lock on mine. In all these years....
Just asking for trouble using sim lock IMO.
What kind of silly reply is that? Why is it asking for trouble using SIM lock??? And if you read through this thread, someone had the same problem of the phone not connecting anymore even without SIM lock.
I pulled my sim yesterday because I switched users now it says no sim I put old sim in same problem flashed new rom nothing...

I'd noticed the same thing, and insulating the SIM from the holder resolved the problem for me also.
I also found an app for monitoring and alerting if the phone switched back to asking for the SIM PIN, this might be useful for others.
SIM Locked Notifier - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.slaytanic.SIMLockedRingNotifier
Finally put some adhesive between the tray and the SIM card. Worked perfectly for me too, no SIM problem for 10 days now.
Thank you so much, Lucker#1.

[Q] How to eject a stuck sim tray?

Hi there,
So I just received my Nexus 4 today, the first thing I did was cut my normal sim --> micro sim so I can use it on the nexus 4. I was successful in doing so and my phone is working perfectly. However, the problem i'm having is I didn't trim down the thickness of the sim card, and now my sim tray is stuck (unable to eject with the ejector tool). It does "try" to eject cause I see the edges pop out a bit, but not enough for me to get a good grip to fully pull it out.
Since the phone is working perfectly, I'm not really in a rush, but it's just annoying and for the future of getting new plans.
What should I do? Call Google for a new phone for my fail or will mobile store be able to help me?
Thank you.

ohh wow. I suggest using a tweezer or a needle to pull the tray out. Once out, GET A new micro sim and put it in.

Took a break last night from trying so hard to get it to eject. So this morning I tried again, the 2nd time it managed to eject just SLIGHTLY more that gave me enough grip to pull it out. Afterward, I sanded down the back of the sim card to make it thinner, then insert it in again, test multiple time carefully to see if it'll freely eject. Works perfectly now.

Just walk into a T-Mobile store to change your sim card. It's free and in some cases, older sim cards will have problems with newer phone.

No Sim Card

Hi everyone,
Yesterday my phone stoped to recognise the sim-card.
At first i got a message with sim-card problem and the phone need to be restarted.
After that sim worked a day and now i cant use any sim in this phone. I tried it with 4 cards.
I've tried new roms , and paper on sim-card reader. Still "no sim card"!
Is it possible to repair it or is it Motherboard problem?
Thanks.
Have it checked in a authorised Samsung Service Centre mate. I had that problem twice in one day few days back, but since then its running fine! I was really scared, thought I would have to visit SC, but it went away on its own! I don't think Motherboard needs to be changed, only the SIM slot if its damaged.

Thanks for your answer. My phone doesn't recognise any card now. Since 2 days. I don't think it can go away on its own
Got the same problem. Probably your sim card slot got some loose like mine. I put a little piece of paper into it on the back of sim card. It caused that my sim card was inserted tighter into slot and it is working again.
It occured that it was the sim card problem. I had it again but it was strange because it worked on my sony xperia sp. But my note 4 didnt see it. I checked other sim card and it work flawless

Fixing no sim card detected and no service

Dears
Facing the problem of no service and no sim card detected on my v20 after a reboot or randomly ,i ve tried every thing and found out that the problem is coming from the sim card reader ,there is a space left between the sim card and the reader causing the problem ,the fix is to full the space with a small paper or something to force the sim card into the reader
I know this is a necro post, but I wanted to confirm that this DOES indeed work. I got a second hand V20 from eBay today and couldn't get the thing to recognize the SIM Verizon was giving me at all. Gotta go back tomorrow to have them activate it now that I know this trick works on this phone!!

I ended up sending the phone back for exchange, after a small 1" drop the SIM was dislodged and the adapter broke and got a new one which didn't have the issue, so I unfortunately don't have any pictures. The best way however to place it is to ensure that it is directly over the SIM card and goes into the slot with your SIM, it should be providing some pressure on the back of the SIM to push it into the slot firmly, but not bulge the MicroSD adapter's metal too much, if you've done that, a fall may just break your SIM reader.
