Dear N4 fans,
I just bought a Nexus 4 yesterday from MediaMarkt Germany in Rheine. The phone is absolutely great and works perfect but I have some doubts. Maybe I am just paranoid but as a big geek I want to have the best hardware.
My issues are the following:
1) The haptic feedback acts different than call vibration. It makes a strange sound but it's quite strong. I can imagine that the "engine" is bigger but the frequency of rotation is lower. I have experienced haptic feedback on Galaxy S & SII and the feeling was better in my opinion. It might be broken or that's the way it is?
2) The phone came with Android 4.2 build on 8th Nov 2012 and had the date setted on 20 Jan. In the check for updates section it was saying that it checked for updates on 1st of January (19 days ago). The phone was turn on in the past and somebody check it or is just standard? Do you think my phone is one of the old lots which was built before launch?
Thanks in advance for the feeback. I can't wait to arrive home from office to flash some custom kernels and ROMS. Cheers!

hi everyone, i had searched so many topics/forums about this common issue
some ppl say its too low so they cannot hear anything in lousy places
some other say its ok and they have not face any trouble
if I was going to buy it for myself somehow I could cope with that but since im buying this device for my fiance I cant risk .
is this going to be a problem so far ?
I dont want my fiance to think that I've bought a crap for her
As far as I'm concerned, yes this is a real problem ! I'm not deaf, but in a noisy environnement, you can hardly hear people you're speaking with .
Yes it is really a problem and SE knows about it and it gets fixed with the next smaller update.
o2 germany confirmed today the update will come in week 25 so that would be june 21.
i only wish they have someway to fix the "end call" button position. i keep ending call because i am use to hear it with my face touching the screen.
its gonna be fixed in the next update.
problem has been acknowledged by SE on their official blog/forum
they are working on the 'acoustics engine
tnx everyone
AFAIK they've said its gonna happen in Q4

Software update vs. Firmware update.
Firmware is what's coming soon.
Software is what's coming in Q4.
Yes. As of now, it is a real problem. In noisy outdoor environment, without the earphone, you can't hear anything.
Hello Guys,
since there was no date for the Desire HD ICS Update I asked the German HTC support if they have a specific date for the Update.
You can find the Answer in the attechment and for everyone who is not that into the German language here the translation:
Hello,
Thank you for your request related to your HTC Desire HD
We only have the confirmation that it will roll out this year. But there is no specific date when it will happen. Our experts predict, it wont be later than August and expect it more likely happen in May.
[Standart things about to contact them again and a link to survey]

Great news So they say May and August? Then I'd say it comes in June or July
I hope sooner rather then later, my DHD is starting to fall apart (Volume rocker could fall out any moment i feel, power button sometimes does not work, Scratches all over, Sim/SDcard case is falling off sometimes and the battery doesnt get better either ).
And my contract runs out in September so i hope i can still experience ICS on this device that has suited so well in the past 2 years. And it was such an amazing community here on XDA. Great fun, great roms and i learned so much about Android and stuff
I don't know why they even stated out August cause I did not even mentioned it in my original request to them
But since they said not later than august but expeted to be in May i would agree with you and say mid of June
About a month ago, I decided to wait for the ICS to come out before purchasing the Galaxy Note in Hong Kong. After waiting for such a long time, ICS was released but a lot of users in HK have been complaining several issues since then. I also heard complains of a few common issues (e.g. poor battery life, worse response time) from users in other countries. However, there are also people who are satisfied with the update. What suggestion do you have?
I can buy the Note in Canada, HK or China. Not sure if I could get an international, unlocked version without signing for a contract with a carrier in Canada.
If the issues are due to bugs in the ICS, all the users should have the same problems. However, some users have reported that after the upgrade, their Note performs better than before. I am confused.
I am currently in HK. As some of you may know, usually the stores here do not have satisfaction guarantee for full refund.
Another possibility is just to forget about the Note and go for the S3 which comes with the ICS. However, there could be other issues.
Any purchase advice appreciated. Thanks.
Note is a very good option to buy. Also with ics upgrade there have been mixed feeling but then there are always updates that you get from Samsung.
Another option is to install the room from many of our developers who do lot more better job than Samsung itself. For example I am on paranoid Android and I am sure I am not going back to the stock room ever again. My two cents

I went to a Samsung showroom in HK yesterday. Even the ICS was released 5 days ago, they still have both Galaxy Notes running GB. Perhaps they are afraid to let people know that Note + ICS = problems. I also checked with a Samsung store. The staff told me that he has not heard any complain. Yet, I have seen tones of complains posted on the Samsung Mobile Hong Kong FB page.
I can only praise the ICS on the Note, it is working perfectly and battery life is simply amazing. Go for it you will not have any regrets.

Galaxy note has no problems with ICS.. I am a heavy user of roms and other goodies from xda devs but since last week or so i have been on stock ICS lp8, n there are no issues whatsoever.. Battery life is amazing and the phone is snappy.
I always make a fresh start before installing any rom that is i wipe clean everything before i install a rom.. Therfore i dont get any probs
Anyways note is a much better option and just dont worry about the complaints, depends on user to user

Wait till note gets delivered with ICS and not with gb on it. ICS is okay atm it could be awsome but has alot of issues to be resolved. Some of them in fast forward,
battery drain,
wakeup locks,
brightness adjustment,
Wifi issue
Signal issue
overheating,
And ofc bricked phones due the kernel emmc issue.
Or I recommended that you buy the note and stay with 2.3.6 lc1 it rocks on all aspects. Except hardware Acceleration. And stay tuned on xda for news and don't jump on the ship when a new version comes, wait for people to test it and post their thoughts-comments for it.

Your options: Wait until the Note is shipped with ICS, or buy now with GB and wait until samsung deliver the ics. There are mixed feelings and experiences of the ICS upgrade and its more down to differing hardware compatibility issues that Samsung have yet to address, rather than specific software bugs. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all, hence one reason for umpteen different update versions of ICS spread out over the globe. Complaints on twitter and XDA about ICS are starting to build up about ICS.
My own plan of action now that i've owned the GTN7k since Feb. is to try ICS when its available to me, anything I don't like, roll back to Gingerbread. There is not one extra feature on ICS that I need, want or find remotely useful. I'f we're honest, that probably goes for most guys, but its always nice to have the latest and they'll never admit it.
Hi guys,
I really don't know how to put this but... I got myself a Galaxy S3 and I'm waiting for it to arrive now. This has been by far the best community I've been in. The Samsung Galaxy S1 is a LEGEND but mine is starting to give me some screen flickering problems and I decided to move on to the next awesome phone. I was waiting for the Nexus 4 BUT the picture quality from the camera is just bad, no external storage solution, glass on the back makes me think twice and I didn't really manage to get it since it sold in 7 minutes here in Spain. Because of the poor customer support Google offered on their launch, I've decided to give them poor support too by not getting their phone just to return the favour. Also, when I saw that Nexus S is not recieving 4.2 update (wich it can PERFECTLY handle) I was like yeah... sure Google, I thaught you were the best but you're just like every other manufacturer. My best choice was a new unlocked Galaxy S3 and in Spain there's a promotion that you get a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with your Galaxy S3 unit (AWESOME). The phone costed me 450€ brand new and unlocked from http://www.pccomponentes.com . One thing is sure, Galaxy S3 will get Android 5 or whatever Android version is after 4.2 while the Galaxy Nexus will recieve updates (has far less specs), I believe that the S3 will also. My contract ends next year in December so I have plenty of time to gather carreer points and get the Galaxy S5 for free or whatever awesome phone will come out in 2014.
I'm gonna sell this S1 legend to my ex-girlfriend since she's in love with it. I currently have CyanogenMod 10 STABLE with everything stock. It ROCKS, this phone has never been that fast.
Last of all, I'd just like to thank EVERYONE in this community for making this possible, for making such awesome roms and kernels. I really enjoyed flashing with you guys, you guys are the best! Special thanks to pawitp and stratosk who made my phone FLY for this time long.

Hi. I am planning to buy Nexus 4, here, in India. It is available for Rs. 25990. I just had few concerns. I would really appreciate it if Nexus 4 users here would clarify that for me.
This phone is released in India by LG, not Google directly. So in case of update/new version of android release, will I get the updates ?
In normal day scenario, I use 3G and keep data-on with Exchange Sync, Whatsapp sync and 2 other applications syncing running in background. Along with this I make a few calls and few messages. My target is to get through 2 days. Is this possible after Android 4.2.2 update ?
How good is GPS in this phone ? I currently have Desire S with Android 4.2.2 CynogenMod and it takes forever to catch a signal.
My other options are Sony Xperiz ZL, HTC One, Samsung GS4.

1. You will get updates as normal. It's just the LG selling in India.
2. Under such scenario, you will get a max of 1 day battery. With a battery of 2100Mah, you should not expect more. If you want to last 2 days, go for the note 2.
3. GPS is fast.Locks under a few seconds.
If battery life is the thing you are concerned about most this is not probably for you. If you want battery, S4, or note2, If you want design and Good sound with fluid performance go for the HTC one. Sony has the worst speakers and the display angles and you will suffer more for future updates.
Glad that LG is selling NEXUS 4 in India. I live in Nepal. And i have met only one having a N4. I am happy with this phone. The performance is kickass. Fast and fluid. Only concern is battery life and Camera. Hope to see it fixed in the next update
The only complaint I have about the Nexus 4 is the audio recording quality. Besides that everything else is just perfect.

1. It's the same device, you'll get the updates.
2. you would only get 2 days if you use very little screen-on time and you have a really good cellular signal, otherwise it's charging every night.
3. the best I've ever used.
