Copy the icon file (extract it from the sync.zip file) to the windows directory of your pda.
Step 2: Windows Mobile Device Center - Reinstall DriverNow that the ICON file is on the device, we need to reinstall the device driver so that WMDC will see it.
1. Make sure the device is synced and connected to your PC. You need an active connection so that Windows Vista sees your handheld device.
2. Go to the Control Panel.
3. Switch the Control Panel to the "Classic View" in the upper left hand corner of the Control Panel windows.
4. Open Device Manager.
5. Click the small "+" in front of "Portable Devices"
6. Right click on "Pocket PC" or "Windows Mobile Device" or "Smartphone" or similar.
7. Click Uninstall
8. Choose OK when prompted about Uninstalling the device.
9. The Device Manager will flash a time or two, and the device will no longer show up on the Portable Devices list.
10. Remove your Device from the computer.
11. Wait a good 30 seconds to 1 minute and then dock (connect) your device to the computer again.
12. Your computer will now be installing the device once again.
13. Open Windows Mobile Device Center, and you should now see your ICON on the left hand side (see picture below), and you have not lost any details of your partnership.
Sometimes the wmdc shows your old picture if that is the case copy the icon file to this directory:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\[some strange code like 8ae71abe]
Good luck guys Would like to hear if it works the same in Windows Mobile 6 (as there is no update for the artemis yet I'm not able to test.)

Got it from another site but that does not matter. Never claimed it was my own. Just posted it here and created the Icon because people on the artemis forum asked one for the hermes and herald. Did not mention any harm to it...

You have to understand that if you don't quote the source, you are indirectly claiming it to be your own work, which may offend the creator, for starters, as I know he (Michael) spent time and effort on this wonderful tweak.
Don't worry too much about it, as we are keen to share information here, but just make sure the source is quoted next time - we just want to maintain a good relationship with the other sites.
For those who like to show Dopod U1000 in the Vista's Windows Mobile Device Center, here's the file. Just rename the one you like to "sync.ico" and follow the instructions at the beginning of this thread.

3 hours? What happened?
sorry guys, there is so many thread for xperia so i also dunno 1 2 post where. im a new HWZ user and using xperia for less den a week. need few advices. pls help
1. on the sound notification, i notice that for New Text Message Received, there is a checkbox "Repeat" under the Play Sound option. but it cannot be ticked. how come? how can i make it possible to repeat the SMS alert? coz sometimes by ringing once i may not notice it.
2. just now after i charged the phone, i notice that everytime my phone goes into sleep mode, whenever i press any button to wake it up, the screen will "blink" once before appearing. meaning when i press a button, the screen comes alive but blackout again for a split second before the screen really stay there. whats wrong?
updated:
i installed the growing panel and the activex and some java games. but having a few more questions
3. java games is different from the 4 games that comes with the phone? coz i find it is playable using xperia but doesnt seem to be really compatible like the 4 games that come with it.
4. i installed the touchpal and xperia tweak and both work fine. however for panels, i install windowslive, spbmobileshell, photoslideshow and growing panel. all installed but only photoslideshow can be used for panels. how do i make the windowslive and spbmobileshell panel work? how to choose this 2 as panels?
5. how come i install growing panel and activex plugin but both file cannot be installed. a popup will say need run the application 1st but i cant do anything to it.
thanks all. please advice me. thanks
1. Don't know. Don't think it's possible, perhaps with som register tweak.
2. Don't know. Mine just blinks on direct, no black out or so. Tried to just restart the device?
3. Yes java games is different from the 4 games that comes with the phone. The java games are running within an java application in the phone while the 4 games that is preinstalled and as far as I know other games that is programmed directly for windows mobile are running more like free independet application like any other winmo program.
4. Just to check, you do know how to put the panels in the panel manager? Because they don't pop up there by them selves, you have to put them there. You enter the setup for that with the bottom right icon in the panel manager.
Other than that I don't know if the growing panel and activex plugin might have messed up the panel manager and here we come to question number 5...
5. The growing panel and activex plugin are not official yet and just beta versions. Therefore the results may not be so good with them. I have tried them, they worked fine for a couple of hours and then the phone just started to hang and get slower. Uninstalled them and it was fine again. I do belive for example that they are depending on the new panel manager that will come along with them in the next official ROM.
1. oh. i download the xperia tweak also cannot find any clue
2. think the phone is fine after restarting. thanks
3. so if i want to download games like the 4 preinstalled, i should look for winmo games and not java issit?
4. means i need transfer the .cab file from my computer to the panel manager folder then install from there issit? sorry coz i not really catch what u mean
5. means it may be launching officially with the new ROM coming soon?
thanks for the info given.
3 - Yes
4 - No. You can install them from anywhere. After you install them click on the panels button.
When you click your panels button, you may choose between different panels right? There are nine slots for panels there. In the bottom right corner, just below the last row of panels, there is a round icon with 9 little rectangles and a rench. Click it. The panels should turn around. Tap the suitcase icon on the panel that you wish to replace. The panel should pop out and get bigger. Tap the icon with the two rectangles.
Now you are in the panel management menu. From there you can choose the different panels, that you have already installed.
5 - Yes
And a piece of advise. Use the search function of this ofrum. 99% of all question that you may ask, have already been answered here. Do a lot of random reading too. Read the threads in this ofrum. Lots and lots of them.
Cheers.
4. i installed the panels and tried the way u mentioned. but only the photoslide panel is shown in the list of panel. the windowslive and spbmobile both not shown.
thanks for ur help. i just found this forum through google so is still trying to browse thru the threads. thanks for ur advice
Hi All
Firstly wanted to introduce myself so Hi!
Secondly I have searched the Wiki area and get no matches each time, so sorry if it's been asked.
My HD2 will connect to i-player etc and link to core player. However I only get sound and no image or playback . Do I need to install a plug-in. I already have v3.5 installed.
Also when I am texting and I start a new sentence the first word I type and hit space does not automatically add a capital letter to the forst letter. This is quite annoying even if it is minor.
Cheers for all the help

Hello, I got iplayer to work without coreplayer... this is what I did (I'm not sure if flash player is needed, but I installed it anyway):
Installed Opera Mobile 10
Installed Flash Player for Windows Mobile
Ran Opera Mobile 10, typed "opera:config" in the address bar.
Found the setting User Prefs->Custom User-Agent and typed in "HTC_Touch_HD_T8282".
Pressed save and restarted opera.
Connected to internet with WiFi
Opened "www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer".
Selected something
Clicked "save" and then "open".
It plays in Windows Media Player.
I automatically get auto-capitalisation, I'm using XT9 mode with word completion and spell correction. Maybe that will help, otherwise I think there'll be a registry setting to change it, but that's more hassle.
Found the setting User Prefs->Custom User-Agent and typed in "HTC_Touch_HD_T8282".

thats the bit that makes iplayer work. I use it on 9.7 with that user agent, no probs.
Thanks Guys! Much appreciated
I just got my LG, and I would like to keep this post with other Optimus 7 users comments (There is not and especific Forum for Optimus 7... )
What I like.
1.- The social Network Integration on Contacts.. It's great, usefull...
2.- The size of the phone, the battery 1500 is perfect, I can keep wifi, Bluetooth and APN all time on
3.- Zune integration..
What I don't like:
1. alarm app is simple no vibration, I need alarm vibrating for wakeup
2. SMS, if you are writing a message and you move to another app, the message is not added to draft, so when you come back the SMS is gone. (tip, if you press the back key is gone but if you press windows Key and move to another app is not gone)
3 The keyboard... IS bad has hell, no multilanguage, no Compact or phone layout, no vibration on key press. You cant select t9 on/off.. I have my phone in spanish, if I write on english I have to go to Settings and dissable corrections.. If I don't do this and write in english (like right now) I get "bad" corrections to spanish...
4 It does not have ring and vibration ! It vibrate and then rings , so if you have the phone on your pocket and you dont get the first vibration, you will lose phone calls
5.- there is no "silence" profile if you have activated the "vibrate on call".. so if you are on a meeting (you can only select, sound or vibration) or you need to go to settings and disable vibration.. then you have Sound and silence..
6- I was not able to connect zune with my windows 7 x64.. I had to use my other windows 7 x86 computer..
Please Microsoft, remember this is a phone, the first priority are the Basic phone features... My old Nokia (7 years ago) have these features
Iosu
Answers to a couple of your points:
3. The keyboard DOES have multilanguage. Go to the keyboard settings and select more than one language. It will work just as on the iPhone, you get a little key with "ES" or "EN" and you can press to change the keyboard language whenever you want.
That's the way I have it
6. You have to download the 64bit version of Zune, which is a different link. Go to the Zune download section and look for the part where it says "if you have 64bit Windows download this special version".

well it's up to you, but my recommendation .. Just wait until Microsoft post an update.
Well, the problem is that I can only wait so long. My current phone is a Blackberry that's barely working at this point, and badly needs to be replaced. I can't afford to be without a cell phone, since I need it for work. This means that I either get a cheap phone to use for a bit, get a WP7 phone and hope that an update comes out to fix some of these problems that I have for it, or pick up a Samsung Vibrant in a week or two.
I really, really want WP7 since I love all the positive things about it, but lately I'm hearing a lot of negatives that, while aren't deal breakers to me, are still things that would be an annoyance. Guess I'll have to just keep watching the forum here and see what people say, while I wait for the release of the HD7 on T-Mobile.

De nada There is no option for haptic feedback when typing, it might come in an update, but who knows.
As for the 64bit problems, sorry, no idea. It works on my virtual machine (I'm on a Mac) with no problems.
get a palm pre 2 on Verizon...its gonna to be awesome IMO.anyway,I can tell you I'm a WM and Android users. Palm got the potential to chase up.
WP7 still in the premature stage,I think there are many issues.hope the update coming soon.
@iosub,is the game quality good?furthermore, can you check 1 thing for me?when you playing music(on speaker or headphone),and then lock the screen. Is the volume button working?can we adjust the volume when the screen off?
Thanks a lot...cheers,hope you enjoy your device.

The Palm Pre 2 is the same low-res device as the Palm Pre but with a faster CPU, which most people already had thanks to overclocking. Palm needs to release a 3.8"-4.0" device with no physical keyboard and a decent battery to compete.
They have an amazing OS which I love to bits, but until the hardware is up to par I won't be getting another Pre (already had one).
As for games, the ones I've tried are pretty great and up to the standards that the iPhone has set. We just need good developers to make more.
The volume can be adjusted with the screen off, no problems with that.
Oh,I see...Haha,yea...thats true...I see the potential of HP Palm webOS,they need more developers...actually,nowadays,they improve their SDK a lot and provide the PhoneGap tool for cross platform apps porting....
Thanks a lot ya...for your information. This feature pretty important to me and it is missing in WM6.5 on my HD2.
Agree. HP needs to drop the "Palm" brand so they can make useful devices. Everything about the Pre Plus was great except the processor, keyboard, and screen size - which actually looks smaller due to the form factor.
Looks like they're imtent on "torching it" though...

Im thinking the same thing. Especially since im due for an upgrade with At$T now I'm just watching and waiting.
Nice I could not find where to change settings for greek language after updadting my lg to 7720 but now its ok.This site is the best.
Hi every one.
I've got an ASUS TX 300 CA that came with windows 8. I've put windows 8.1 update1, and everything was working great for almost 1 year.
Suddenly, when I plug the PC in, I've got a message asking with what app the PC open a .tmp file that does not exists... weird.
I order to get rid of this problem, I reinstalled windows 8.1 update 1.
That failed.... windows is OK, but the problem is still there.
Moreover, now I can't use "play to" to send films, musics, of photos on my TV... The PC does not see my TV anymore...
So here is my question. How can I make my PC see my TV???? (knowing that is was working like a charm before reinstall)
Is there a crucial service or something I may have stupidely stopped....?
Please, I need some help, it's making me mad. the little problem when plugging the PC is not important, but the one with "play to" is crucial for me.
Thanks.
