I just got my LG, and I would like to keep this post with other Optimus 7 users comments (There is not and especific Forum for Optimus 7... )
What I like.
1.- The social Network Integration on Contacts.. It's great, usefull...
2.- The size of the phone, the battery 1500 is perfect, I can keep wifi, Bluetooth and APN all time on
3.- Zune integration..
What I don't like:
1. alarm app is simple no vibration, I need alarm vibrating for wakeup
2. SMS, if you are writing a message and you move to another app, the message is not added to draft, so when you come back the SMS is gone. (tip, if you press the back key is gone but if you press windows Key and move to another app is not gone)
3 The keyboard... IS bad has hell, no multilanguage, no Compact or phone layout, no vibration on key press. You cant select t9 on/off.. I have my phone in spanish, if I write on english I have to go to Settings and dissable corrections.. If I don't do this and write in english (like right now) I get "bad" corrections to spanish...
4 It does not have ring and vibration ! It vibrate and then rings , so if you have the phone on your pocket and you dont get the first vibration, you will lose phone calls
5.- there is no "silence" profile if you have activated the "vibrate on call".. so if you are on a meeting (you can only select, sound or vibration) or you need to go to settings and disable vibration.. then you have Sound and silence..
6- I was not able to connect zune with my windows 7 x64.. I had to use my other windows 7 x86 computer..
Please Microsoft, remember this is a phone, the first priority are the Basic phone features... My old Nokia (7 years ago) have these features

Answers to a couple of your points:
3. The keyboard DOES have multilanguage. Go to the keyboard settings and select more than one language. It will work just as on the iPhone, you get a little key with "ES" or "EN" and you can press to change the keyboard language whenever you want.
That's the way I have it
6. You have to download the 64bit version of Zune, which is a different link. Go to the Zune download section and look for the part where it says "if you have 64bit Windows download this special version".

well it's up to you, but my recommendation .. Just wait until Microsoft post an update.
Well, the problem is that I can only wait so long. My current phone is a Blackberry that's barely working at this point, and badly needs to be replaced. I can't afford to be without a cell phone, since I need it for work. This means that I either get a cheap phone to use for a bit, get a WP7 phone and hope that an update comes out to fix some of these problems that I have for it, or pick up a Samsung Vibrant in a week or two.
I really, really want WP7 since I love all the positive things about it, but lately I'm hearing a lot of negatives that, while aren't deal breakers to me, are still things that would be an annoyance. Guess I'll have to just keep watching the forum here and see what people say, while I wait for the release of the HD7 on T-Mobile.

De nada There is no option for haptic feedback when typing, it might come in an update, but who knows.
As for the 64bit problems, sorry, no idea. It works on my virtual machine (I'm on a Mac) with no problems.
get a palm pre 2 on Verizon...its gonna to be awesome IMO.anyway,I can tell you I'm a WM and Android users. Palm got the potential to chase up.
WP7 still in the premature stage,I think there are many issues.hope the update coming soon.
@iosub,is the game quality good?furthermore, can you check 1 thing for me?when you playing music(on speaker or headphone),and then lock the screen. Is the volume button working?can we adjust the volume when the screen off?
Thanks a lot...cheers,hope you enjoy your device.

The Palm Pre 2 is the same low-res device as the Palm Pre but with a faster CPU, which most people already had thanks to overclocking. Palm needs to release a 3.8"-4.0" device with no physical keyboard and a decent battery to compete.
They have an amazing OS which I love to bits, but until the hardware is up to par I won't be getting another Pre (already had one).
As for games, the ones I've tried are pretty great and up to the standards that the iPhone has set. We just need good developers to make more.
The volume can be adjusted with the screen off, no problems with that.
Oh,I see...Haha,yea...thats true...I see the potential of HP Palm webOS,they need more developers...actually,nowadays,they improve their SDK a lot and provide the PhoneGap tool for cross platform apps porting....
Thanks a lot ya...for your information. This feature pretty important to me and it is missing in WM6.5 on my HD2.
Agree. HP needs to drop the "Palm" brand so they can make useful devices. Everything about the Pre Plus was great except the processor, keyboard, and screen size - which actually looks smaller due to the form factor.
Looks like they're imtent on "torching it" though...

Hi all,
We just released a new dialer (freeware) which you can download from Handango. You can download from
http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productId=152403
Features included in KikkerDialer are:
- The most advanced number dialing system which allows for entry by number panel or keyboard, editing, insertion, copy / paste, etc
- Intuitive and simple UI providing the main functions of a phone such as contacts, dial, access to special characters (e.g. the + sign for international dialing)
- A user interface for selecting contacts which mimicks the most intuitive methods for selecting contacts such as those used within standard mobile phones such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc
- Synchronisation with contacts database (mobile, work, home)
- Extremely fast and responsive to use
- Access to the Windows Mobile clipboard for copy / paste
Feedback welcomed. Enjoy.
Kikker Interactive
I'm sorry, but I really don't see what is so special about this software. Maybe I have got it wrong, but I would say that D9 is better than this, and PhonePlus is much better. I don't want to scroll to the letter J every time I want to call my friend John, and so on.
Copy and paste is nice, but where is the T9 contact selection as in D) and PhonePlus, I think that is a great feature.
The fact that this diealer resembles old standard GSM phones is of no interest.
Sorry for only giving bad feedback, but then again, I might haven't found the cool features.
nteresting… just tried this
First comment - good to see another free dialer out there given what shipped with the jam.
ave only tried this for abt 15 minutes but like it very much so far. Is a lot faster than D9 (my only complaint with that software – I have ~ 1,000 contacts in my jam and the UI is v unresponsive). The thing I like with this new dialer too is the editable text field which seems to be missing on most other apps out there. The ability to edit a number before a call (e.g. insert +44 if not already in international prefix), insert a digit when you have entered incorrectly, etc is just what I was after. Would be nice to see call history in there too btw.
Intuitive and simple UI providing the main functions of a phone such as contacts, dial, access to special characters (e.g. the + sign for international dialing) --->Cool...
Crashed on my WWE Qtek S100 .. when I try to call ..

Hi Carlis,
In the first few hours of release, the first installer required you to have OpenNETCF on your device. It seems not so many people have this so we fixed this issue and now you no longer need this on your device.
You should uninstall the KikkerDialer and run the the new installer file (now setup.exe - ~2MB), downloadable from the same location at Handango. Please give this a go and let us know if any probs - [email protected]
Best rgds,
Kikker Interactive
I'm surprised all of you think different than me, but I will give it another try, I guess. I still don't think it can compare with PhonePlus with all the features it has, but then again it's freware.
/T
Cant downlod the Setup.exe, it still downloads the setup.msi, is this the right version? I'm getting the same crash. Can someone post it here?

for me the download link does not work at all. Page cannot be displayed.
Well, I downloaded the MSI-file from handandgo. Now in can run on my T-Mobile MDA Compact but when I try to dial, it crashes:
KikkerDialer.exe
TypeLoadException
Failed to load type OpenNETCF.Notification.Led from OpenNETCF.Notification, Version=1.2.3346.0, Culture-neutral, PublicKey Token= 30C767B29D52D6E6
Can it be fixed? I wanted to test this application concerning tone dial (DTMF sending).

Hi
Thank´s for the answer...
but .. hm .. its not an exe on the same location .. its still the MSI ..
Carlis
ZeroXtreme, 718 & Carlis - Our apologies - we actually meant to the setup.MSI - the file you see up there is the right one (it is not an .exe).
However, seems some of you are still getting a runtime issue on your devices. We suspect this is due to a missing DLL - but cannot replicate your issue right this moment. We've just received some more devices now tho and are retesting. Will post a response here shortly. Feel free to email us directly in the meantime.
Iggy - the handango site must have been having problems. You should try again.
Kikker Interactive
Beta testing - never easy. I'm having enough trouble and bugs beta testing Mobi Dial 2.5 right now, so I'll think I'll pass on this one. Someone let me know when there actually is a legit, ergonomically competent and STABLE replacement dialer out there.
OK thank you all for your patience.
Our new devices arrived and we were able to replicate the issue that some of you were having. This has now been solved with a new version of the setup.msi (now named setup_20050202.msi as Handango doesn't seem to allow overwriting).
You can either download the new app from Handango (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productId=152403) or we've also hosted it at http://69.20.6.190/KikkerDialer/setup_20050202.msi for your convenience.
If you don't want to go through the process of download + installing the 2MB file again, there is an easier way for those of you who already have the previous version installed. Please follow the steps here:
1. Quit the KikkerDialer
2. Download two dll's http://69.20.6.190/KikkerDialer/OpenNETCF.Notification.dll and http://69.20.6.190/KikkerDialer/OpenNETCF.Phone.dll
3. Copy both files to \Program Files\KikkerDialer on your device (or wherever you installed the dialer)
4. Restart the app
Any problems - please let us know. Again, apologies for the false start for some of you. From those who were not affected however, we had some v positive feedback and to repay all your efforts, will add some more features within the next few weeks
Kikker Interactive
Yes, with the dlls you provided the program starts okay. However, I failed to dial DTMF tones. Sometimes it is necessary to dial extention or enter a PIN-code. Such a pitty!
Exelent .. thx.. it now works on a Swedish WWE Qtek s100 without need of the extra dll´s ..
Only thing that is missing .. DTMF codes .. to use bank transactions and so..
When they ask for my account nr .. and I press the keys.. nothing happends..
And finaly .. how to replace the old dailer hardware keys.. Green and Red phone keys to be using Ur dailer.. it still actiavte the old one..
Best Regards Carlis
Hi - ok glad we got all the installer issues cleared up.
Yep - DTMF tones are not supported currently. As users of the software, here is what we do:
- Make the call using KikkerDialer
- When prompted to enter PIN (etc), press the green call button and the standard windows dialer will appear
- Type in your code using this interface
This works fine against all systems. Obviously not as intuitive. We are however, working on building in DTMF into our next release and have made some progress so far but won't ship till its ready. At the same time, we'll try to address the issue of how to bind KikkerDialer to the green call button.
Keep giving us your feedback in the meantime, v useful.
Best rgds,
Kikker Interactive
Would you manage dialing DTMF tones, you'll be great! But please note that the standard Windows dialer do not work correctly with the DTMF tones. There is something wrong with the duration of the tone, as I suppose. So with that dialer I often reach wrong extention or dial wrong number.
First of all thank you for the freeware.
in spite that, I dont think I would throw phoneplus away yet which serves my every needs.
But it is nice to see some developers trying to give some fight to proffesionals.
Thanks for all your comments. We're still working on getting a v1.0 out there shortly and the latest is good news. From the latest development version of the KikkerDialer, we now have full control of all the JAM buttons such as the direction pad middle button (to select contacts), the green dial button (to open the dialer and make calls), etc. This feature alone allows for complete one handed usage of the dialer (i.e. no stylus).
Now focus remains on adding:
- Call history
- Easier searching on contacts
- DTMF
This last, frequently requested, item is proving to be quite a challenge. We shall persist!
Best rgds,
Kikker Interactive
Hey All-
I have had my mogul for about a month and have done a lot of reading and experimenting. I fell like I am at the verge of what I really want, but not quite there. Maybe you can help.
I just want SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE. Also I like the eye-candy too.
What I have now is a skinned SPB mobile shell with S2U2. What I love about it is the no stylus interface, photo speed dial, full screen caller pic id and quick access to programs and messages. But it still falls a little short.
For 1, windows mobile 6.1 texting sucks. Often, it either shuts down before I am done typing, or when I click the new message button, it brings me to all my messages instead of the specific new one.
Also, its often really slow. As in i hit a button and nothing happens for over a second.
These aren't my only complaints, and I like a lot more than what I listed, but I think I gave you a pretty good idea of what I really want out of this phone.
Can someone help me achieve this. Maybe suggest a rom, combination of programs, whatever.
Thanks
-Nick
Answer:
S is for Simple is for Symbian phones
Eye candy (iCandy) = iPhone
Yeah.. get another phone.
But if you're having problems with your WM device like "it either shuts down before I am done typing".
Then you have your power settings to set the screen/backlight go off too soon when idle (go to Start -> Settings -> System -> Power/Backlight to fix this)
"when I click the new message button, it brings me to all my messages instead of the specific new one".
Minor bug due to WM6.x of getting the inbox instead of a compose new message form when clicking new message (it's the fault of the 3rd party programs not fully designed for WM6.x not giving the correct parameters to open the compose message form).
And.. no.. WM6.1 texting does not suck. It's actually very good esp the addition of threaded SMS.
Hi all,
I received yesterday my new i8000.
There are 2 features that are seriously missing and I was wondering if anyone knows if they can be restored by a tweak or even an application:
1. the mouse: I hate using the pointing device they give out with the phone, but in some cases, fingers are too big. The mouse they had on the i900 was perfect.
2. Screen rotation/landscape mode: This option also disappeared, comparing to the first Omnia.
I would be happy to hear people's comments.
Thanks.
eh? Screen rotations gone? Are you saying that if you turn the device sideways it won't re-orientate all the screen. This would be a real pain in the a*&e for things like Opera!
Hi dstu69, screen rotation is there but not for all apps. Mine works with Opera. May be try calibrating your device in Settings.

Thank frak for that!
too many problems
Actually, some automatic rotation is indeed available in some applications, but, for example, I have a GPS application that loads based on the current orientation and it looks bad in portrait mode and there's nothing I can do to fix it.
Also, I'm discovering more problems:
1. When I download emails (IMAP, but I didn't test it in POP3), if i click on them to view them, they are not shown.
2. The excellent mouse we have in the original Omnia disappeared.
3. The flashlight (volume-down long-press) also seems to have disappeared.
This phone is somewhat disappointing. One would think that they'll keep the good stuff and improve the phone. Instead, they took away the things that made the first version so great
Omnia II Missing Features
I just sold my Omnia i900 assuming that the I8000 would build upon its predecessor's strengths? What a shame for Samsung! Here are my findings so far:
Aside of all the issues already mentioned I learned the following:
- Screen reorientation works on some apps but also on e-mail/messaging, provided you select the Samsung keyboard Irgh!!!! Silly as it may sound, that is the case!
- Mouse is history as the CUBE does not have the sensor built in!
- Signatures do NOT work except when creating new mail! Yes, the flag for inserting signatures for replies and forwards was selected!
- There is no way to advance from one e-mail to the next other than going UP to the in box and selecting the next one manually! That IS stupid SAMSUNG. like the previous Omnia, one should be able to flip through e-mail with a gesture as if we were flipping a sheet of paper!
- Fianally a managed to synchronize the sent items folder in outlook! However, you have to unselect the TouchWiz interface, go to the email application and select the options menu. Otherwise it is inaccessible!
- I hope WM6.5 rendition of Samsung takes care of that? Does Anybody know when WM6.5 will be made available?
Cheers

I agree that there are some issues with the Omnia II i8000 but many of the ones you listed work fine...
1. Screen Orientation-Yes it's automatic for Opera and SMS/MMS typing but no others. However, there is a fix where you can assign a button to rotate ANY screen at ANY time. Check it out on here...http://www.modaco.com/category/410/i8000-omnia-ii-http-i8000-modaco-com/
2. I agree about the Mouse and the CUBE not using the sensor.
3. I had NO PROBLEMS with signatures straight out the box.
4. If you start reading your emails from the top of the list, after you DELETE one, it does move to the next one. I agree you have to go back UP in order to read the next one if you don't DELETE the one you were reading.
5. I had NO PROBLEMS syncing SENT mail from Outlook straight out the box.
6. There are several WM6.5 ROMS over on MoDaCo. I've tried a few and each have their own PROS and CONS. Last I heard was Samsung won't have a release until early 2010. By that time, I would have moved on to the HD2 U.S. edition (assuming it's available).
Got my i8000 with original Wimo 6.5 (21856.5.0.65) a few days and i´m happy with it (previous device was nike with manila 2d).
1. there is a tool called OrientationDetection from mcbee to define the apps to autorotate.
2. don´t nedd a mouse or a stylus. fingerfriendly touchwiz let you make all settings with your finger.
4. Perhaps it´s 6.5, but i can flip through sms/email with sliding the finger from right to left.
I would totally agree with positive comments of I8000.
This is my first non-HTC phone in last 5 years (S200-Trinity-TP-T.Cruise) and I must say WOOWWW!!!
Build quality unseen by HTC, hardware (just put SKTools benchmark you'll see some 50% better performance over HD), lightweight.
I must say - I don't like Samsung software - but prefer naked WinMo. But when was re-cooking the problem? At least for this forum members?
So in one word, Samsung made terrific WinMo phone.
Must say that every HTC I owned forced me to certain compromise:
1. Qtek S200 (speaker would die)
2. Trinity (excellent, but paint peels quickly - come on!)
3. TPro (sold it in 3 days, keyboard wobbled, and was not substantially faster than Trinity - which could be overclocked if needed as well as S200)
4. Touch Cruise (thought I could be easy for a while - but speaker is nightmare, lousiest screen of all HTCs I owned (kinda yellowish) - later I found out that HTC changes vendors for certain parts so check your build date before buying). Not to mention Qualcomm drivers issue. Trinity was faster even when playing Scumm games!
I simply cannot understand this phone to have lower price in the shops compared to HD. Faster CPU (with scalable speed), AMOLED, 720x480 video at 30fps, 16GB integrated storage, lighter 20% and roughly 50% faster in all benchmarks. SKTools build I used put it as a fastest PPC device (didn't have HD2), and not just in processor - check out Direct Draw test - second fastest after Dell Axim x51.
Dunno for sure - but that might mean that beside CPU raw-power someone also put some effort in writting proper drivers.(ahemmm!)
I can only say - we my friends have been heavily ripped off during past years for owning WinMo devices. Thank heaven for competitors!
i have my one of my buttons maps to rotate the screen (above camera buttom) and it works quite well most samsung apps that have rotate work without the button but if i want to force it i can using a button so i get the best of both worlds
from modaco
To be able to manually rotate the screen in any application: go to registry hk_local machine – system – gdi – rotation; in key HideOrientationUi change 1 to 0. Then open Settings – Personal – Buttons and assign to any button the command “Rotate Screen” (you can see this option after you change the registry and only in winmo setting page) (working well for me, I prefer to be able to choose when I want to view something in landscape mode than relaying on how I rotate my phone…)

Auto rotation can be achieved by using Orientation Detection. You can selectively choose which programs to autorotate.

If I installed Wing Linux, will I lose WM? / Will this brick my device?
No. There's no flashing involved here. Still, it's best practice to have thing backed up before doing anything. I've heard of a few cases were people lost some files from there SD cards.
Great! How can I try this?
I'm glad you asked!
Installation is very easy and smooth, all you have to do is following these simple steps:
Navigate to the Wing Linux site.
On the navigation menu to the right of the main page, you'll find a "Download" link. Obviously, you're supposed to click it
Once the download completes, you'll end up with a zip file that contains a few cab files and 4 text files. Please do open these files using notepad for a quick look. They contain plenty of useful information.
After extracting that zip, and hopefully taking a look at the text files, you'll need to move two of the cab files to your device: rootfs and opal.
From your device, install the two cabs (navigate to them using your favourite file explorer then click them) and make sure to install both files to storage card.
Before proceeding any further, make sure that you still have at least 250MB of free space on your storage card. If you don't then you'll need to do some clean up before you can continue.
Also, make sure to close any open application, otherwise you'll lose any unsaved progress in any of them.
Open the brand new wing-linux short-cut in your start menu.
Hit run.
While Linux is booting up. You'll be asked to input a size for the image file used as storage for Wing Linux (consider it like virtual hard disk). Don't touch anything and just wait, default value (250MB) will be used after a couple of seconds.
Grab yourself a cup of coffee/tea/beer/... then sit back and relax. Installation will take a while.
When everything is over, you'll get a calibration screen. Try your best to get a good calibration on the first time as fixing it later takes some work.
Enjoy Android
Key-map for Android
As the Opal doesn't have that many keys, some changes had to be made:
D-Pad + Centre: works normally.
Green: Dialer.
Red: Default behaviour under Android is like this:
Short press: puts device in standby. This can be changed in the settings (which I recommend).
Long press: Display menu to turn off device, put device in airplane mode...
Volume Up: menu key (it's the key that unlocks the screen as well).
Volume Down: back/cancel.
Power button: It's working, but it doesn't do anything because it's functionality doesn't work in Android yet.
Okay, I'm done playing around and I want to go back to WM.
That's easy:
Click and hold the red button and you'll get a menu.
Select "Shutdown" and the phone will reboot.
Once the phone boots again, you'll be in WM.
I want to completely get rid of Wing Linux
Eh, it's your loss.
Un-install both cabs as you would do for any application.
Check if there's still a folder called "linux" in the root of your storage card.
If there's one, delete it.
What works and what does not work:
For details look at this page here. In short:
For the time being, these stuff work:
Making/receiving calls, although you won't be able to hear the other side during phone calls. But there's a small workaround for that:
When in windows mobile, start Wing Linux during a phone call, that way you'll have sound in Android during calls.
Sending/receiving SMS.
GPRS also works. If your carrier/service providers details are included already, it'll work out of the box. Otherwise you'll need to set up a new APN under settings.
For the time being, these stuff do not work:
Battery (will always report it's 100% full).
Bluetooth
WIFI
Camera
Sound (other than what you'll get with the workaround)
Vibration
LED notifications
Standby/Suspend mode.
Unlocking SIM (Android will accept the PIN code but it won't connect to network, you'll need to disable PIN from WM).
FAQ
Q: When I let the phone sit for a while it goes to a text screen that just rolls android_power_suspend messages?
Right now these message are normal, just hit any key or the screen to go back. The suspend portion of Android is being actively worked on so just hang tight!
Q: I installed and booted Wing Linux and when I attach it via USB to my Windows computer it asks me for a driver for an "Ethernet Gadget". Where can I get this?
Linux has this driver natively. For Windows, there's no driver right now, if you know where we can find one (that is free to distribute legally) please do share it with us.
Q: When I boot for the first time the installer hangs at partitioning 0%, is it not working?
Walk away from your phone, this part will take some time. It will only have to do this on initial install so have faith.
Q: Can I install this to my phone's internal memory?
Not presently. Although the cab file will install, you won't be able to boot from internal memory. Ensure you install to your storage card.
Q: Does this run emulated under Windows Mobile?
Not at all! Although it's started from inside Windows Mobile, HaRET completely replaces Windows with Linux in memory, so you actually are booting native Linux -- No emulation at all.
Q: I successfully entered my PIN and unlocked my SIM card through Android, but I can't get on the network. Why?
This is a known issue -- unlocking a SIM card works, but Android does not follow through with connecting to the network. The best solution to this for now is to remove the PIN from your SIM card.
Q: I opened an application but how to I get back to the main page or quit the program? Where is my back button?
Check the keymap posted above.
Q: When will X work on Opal?
In due time. The project is made of volunteer effort working in their spare time. If you'd like the development to speed up, feel free to give a hand!
Not every single one of the people working on this is a developer. Some, like me, are learning as they go. And none is able to dedicate all his time for this project.
Q: I messed up with the calibration. How can I re-calibrate the screen?
Go to storage card, then go to the folder called 'linux'. You'll find a file called default.txt
In that file, look for the line that says "set CMDLINE", add "reset_ts" to it (between the two quotations). Then boot normally.
Remember to remove that once you're satisfied with the calibration.
(If Microsoft Word asks you to save it in their format, always say no)
Q: I waited a lot but the device won't finish booting after installation. What should I do?
First of all, try resetting the phone and booting Wing Linux again. In most of the cases, this'll work. If that doesn't work, try deleting the "rootfs" file from "/Storage Card/linux". If you don't see that file, delete rootfs.img instead. Then boot back in and it should start installing from scratch.
If you're still having issues, remove everything (refer to the "I want to completely get rid of Wing Linux" section) and reinstall the two cabs.
Q: What version of Android is Wing Linux running?
Right now, it's running Cupcake (1.5). An upgrade is planned.
Q: What version of Ångström is Wing Linux running?
Latest as of time of posting.
Q: I'm trying to use the virtual terminal but the enter button on the virtual keyboard won't do anything. Is that normal?
It happens occasionally. Try pressing the d-pad in various directions then hit then enter button again.
Q: Can I SSH to the phone?
Yes you can
Code:
sudo ifconfig usb0 10.100.0.2 up
ssh [email protected]
The password is "wing".
Q: Is installing to a dedicated partition supported?
Yes it is, for more information check the 'INSTALL' file included in the zip, and that can also be found under /storage card/linux
Q: How can I set up a development environment to help with coding?
Take a look here.
Q: How can I get in contact with developers?
Through this thread, the project's forums and on the IRC channel at #wing-linux on Freenode.net. Please, do not use E-Mails, PMs, IMs...
Personal thanks from me to the following people for making this a reality:

How to help with testing and development on Opal:
The people behind Linwizard and Wing-Linux are in need of the results of running this test:
ali1234 said:
Hi,
Thanks to everyone who came to our sprint and tested things. We got a
basic kernel booting on several platforms.
After looking at the results I started to look at the LCD detection
code. I would like to ask everyone to run this test and send me the
results.
I need testers with any omap7xx phone. You only need to run a haret
script and mail me the output, no kernel boot in necessary. The test
scripts are here:
http://al.robotfuzz.com/~al/htc/lcd1.zip
You need a modified version of haret which is included. Unpack the zip
to the phone's internal memory and run haret. Press the "boot" button
like normal. It won't boot linux, it will run the tests instead. Your
screen will flicker during the test, it is normal. It will generate
lcdlog.txt. Mail that file to me or the list, along with any
information you have about your phone. Especially if you have an
after-market LCD, or you know what model of LCD you have for another
reason.
The test works by rapidly switching between LCD mode and GPIO mode on
the LCD controller pins, to check which pins are tied high, low, or
are floating. It does this 30 or so times. Any pin that changes value
is deemed floating. The others are tied high or low (1 or 0). Ignoring
floating pins (zero them) and you get a code which identifies the
panel type of the phone.
More about the LCD detection, including device database and log
processor: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/linwizard/wiki/LCDDetect
Thanks

I guess you dont know that musikmonk himself is one of the developer of android for omap 850 devices
i downloaded it from the web to my mobile...took me a couple of hours but was worth it.
installation was a breeze.
wifi is not a necessary for me...so i am okay with it...
there are some probs tho...like the battery percentage...it is stuck at 100%. even after fiddling with it, it remained the same.
i rebooted to wm to find that battery was about 45%. this issue is critical...i feel. what about you guys??
btw...my sincere thanks to all who toiled so hard...without getting paid...to port this amazing os.
hats off to you guys...and do keep up the good work.
i'm testing android from some week
i test version 0.4.2 and the 0.4.3 pre4
bluetooth don't work... when I turn on the bt the scrren increase brightnees...

Ah, I forgot to mention that . I added it to the not working section now.
Right now, wing-linux is using a fake battery driver that always reports battery as 100% full. There's still no working driver and I'm afraid that it might be a long time till there is one.

Can you please tell me what you tried for bluetooth? I could use some details.
And about network problems, that's normal. It randomly happens with wing-linux, it isn't something specific to that kernel.
Most of the times switching to aeroplane mode and back works. Sometimes you'll have to reboot.

Does it always find that other device or does it only find it sometimes?
About using a new kernel, there are some problems with that. darkstar62 is working on moving upstream to latest kernel and he submitted some patches to the linux-omap tree to get his device (Herald/Wing) supported some were accepted, others are pending.
I tried these patches on Opal but memory card and usb didn't work. I'm waiting till the patches are complete to try again because, right now, I don't know how to fix them myself. I had a couple of ideas that I tried, but none worked.
Oh, and your English is okay. I can understand you fine.

im glad the network problem is not related to the kernel..
as for the bluetooth, it can find my other phone but somehow cant connect with it, also when set to discoverable also no other device finds it
Thank you all I really appreciate your help with testing.
If you guys have the time, can you also give this kernel a test:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1944361/zImage-09-02-10
Edit:
Oh, and can you please give me details such as:
What was the bluetooth state in WM (off/on/hidden/discoverable)?
If you're using WM6.5.x, does bluetooth work normally on the rom you're using? (There seems to be many customized roms with bluetooth problems)
When you searched from Android, if some devices are found, do the name appears or only the address?
Stuff like that...
nice ...work
nice work thank u .
i have test the OS but there are some problem , that i cant make a call and
i cant but it on sleep mode and some time Bluetooth does'nt work .
but until now it's great to see the android work on our mobiles .

hi;
Please take a screen shot from your device and put them there!
thanks.
i did some test whit the new kernel

bt off in wm---> sometimes find other device showing the adress but other device cant find opal
bt on in wm--->didn't find other device and other device cant find opal
I used WP7 for little less than 10 hours and went back to WM6.5....below are my reasons. Feel free to post if you have any.
May be you find a answer from the experts...
-> I use iGo 8.0 GPS software. I couldn't install it in WP7
-> I also use mNotes to sync emails, contacts and calendar from Lotus notes to my phone. (I used Companion link...Lotus notes to Gmail to WP7)
-> It did not recognize my SD card. I use 16GB San disk. May be it is my fault, I did have my card during the first reboot
-> My laptop has XP 64bit OS. There is no Zune software available for this OS.
-> I am not sure if there is a "Mass storage" mode available..
I think it is not possible to use any of the WM applications on WP7. Correct me if I am wrong.
DFT team did a amazing job of porting the WP7 for HD2. But I am blaming Windows for following apple's strategy...in locking the hardware capabilities by using s/w....and be dependent to zune for everything (like itune)
Ari
- iGo is not available for WP7, but you can use Navigon. Maps are basically the same as they come from the same provider.
- You already found a solution for your Lotus sync.
- Was the card in the phone during first boot? How do you know it wans't recognized? WP7 uses it's own file system and the card can't be seen by dektop Windows anymore!
- XP 64bit? WOW, that's really exotic.
- There is a sort of mass storage mode with a registry hack on the desktop PC. Google for it.
- Old WM software is NOT compatible as WP7 is a completely new OS.
Problem
I am trying to revert back to my old roms and having problems.
I put a ottoman rom in it worked once, now the opening screen shows up and it boots into windows 7.I tried task 29,flashed a radio rom all unsuccessful.
Please need help.
My Reason
For me it was because of the battery drain. I loved W7, but if my phone dies quickly it just is not worth all the eye candy and feeling of sticking it to the man...so went back to Android in hopes that there will be real update soon that gives better battery performance.

Try to flash a standard ROM (if your HD2 is Tmobile, then download it from Tmobile.com).
Enter into boot loader mode and then try executing the exe file.
Thats what I did. Everything worked fine for me.

Some people are the most unappreciative a**holes in the community.
WP7 should have this,
Magldr should have this,
Who are you?
Last I check the HSPL said Cotulla, Magldr - Cotulla, DFT, Da G, who are we to make demands.
Consider yourself lucky you are able to have anything other than Windows Mobile ( not saying its great, it works).
Show the respect to this community and others before you post.
cdguider.. Chill out dude he's just stating his oppinion about WP7 and hoping for certain features in the future, nothing disrespectfull about that. Please stop crying about such bs...
i would view the current wp7 rom = android cupcake
its a total re-haul and time will tell (they need to catch up at a faster pace though)
Some reasons why I changed:
(i) Camera in the WM7 HD2 port is very poor quality, no autofocus.
(ii) Incoming caller names were not recognised from my contacts list.
(iii) Could order apps from Windows Marketplace, but they never arrived.
(iv) Wanted to try Artemis for WM6.5, which I think is far more polished.
I'll try WP7 again, say in a year's time once the bugs are ironed out. Sunk enought time on this trial - time to move on.
Credit to those that managed the port. Impressive.

camera- auto focus works ok for me, quality is the same but it doesnt appear to do wide screen shots just yet which is its only down side
Caller ID- mine works just fine
Market place- Downloaded free apps and bought Music without any issues
WM 6.5 may be polished, probably because its been out for a long time, what version that up to now, 50 odd?
What i find really amusing with peoples complaints of WP7 is that almost all of them are well known, i do find it intresting that people flash this with software they know to not meet their needs then complain about it.
Personally, coming from a very heavy WM user, i wasnt sure what to expect, would i like the UI, could i do without the WM apps, could i make do with whats available? would the inability to mod the crap out of the OS put me off, and the answer is, none of its bothered me, yet, im very intrested if it lasts.
There is only one single program i really do need that isnt available on WP, thats a major pain in the bum, but i only need that every once in a while so i think ill dust off my Old Touch HD and use that when i need too.
